Stayed at the Chaffin Inn on our way home from Gulf Shores so we weren't driving the full 14 hours. Hotel was clean; staff was friendly and helpful. I came down for business and to see friends with my boyfriend and a good friend of mine. We had an just driven 12 hrs and were completely exhausted. My good friend hadn't realized that we were literally staying right in the middle of everything, so he decided that when he wanted to venture out, he refused to take the car, but walked everywhere. Charged 87 and on internet the total was 76. There were lots of cars roaming the parking lot that did not belong there. It made us feel that they were checking out the cars to see which ones to burglarized. That didn't happen but it made me feel unsafe . Felt like I had to sleep with one eye open.

There was a problem with getting hot water on the first night. Parking spaces in front of our room were taken up with 2 vehicles taking up 2 spaces each. The noise from the interstate was disturbing and occupants in neighboring room(s) woke us up at 2:30 a.m., with boisterous talking. Breakfast was put out late and biscuits and eggs were cold.

This hotel was an excellent budget choice. I have stayed at it in the past and it appears they have remodeled since I was last here in about 2006. It was very nice for the price. There are much more expensive hotels in the area but all I needed was a clean room, good location, and complementary breakfast. I will stay there again. Everything was fine until the last day(Sunday, July 19, 2010. I wanted to check out at 7:00 and the staff person was not at his desk, so I had to wait ten minutes for him to arrive only to walk past me and get his breakfast before waiting on me. Also, the breakfast was a joke.
