The hotel is located in Clearlake Ca which isnt the best area but overall the room was very comfortable once we cleaned it up a bit . The bathroom toilet was dirty as well as the bath tub. The rest of the room seemed clean and the staff was friendly. It is the best hotel in the area. One of the elevators decided to go a little off whack and take us […] to every floor but ours and when reported they immediately put a sign on it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Very comfortable. I've always have had a great time @ Best Western, and this time continued the experience! Some of the neighborhood down the road was questionable, not the Hotels fault. Over all I would do it again! Leaving was sad (also not the Hotels fault) some jerk abandoned his two little dogs in the back parking lot, but Kudos to the staff which […] cared for the two little girl pups! "nice and clean"
Try out the restaurant down stairs, it was very slow, waiting a half hour and didn't even take my drink order. Only had one waiter but left due to then taking other people's order that came after me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Clearlake!"
Although the room was clean, the heat/air control was not easy to understand. Even the front desk clerk had difficulty in changing the room temperature. The restaurant was out dated, but the food was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Overall it was nice. The nicest hotel in the area to stay for me. It is a bit run down and many of the bottom floor rooms are used for storage, but I would stay again. The bed is a bit too hard for me, but not too bad. The recliner is outdated and it was a bit hard to get out of. Overall, a good deal. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel […] restaurant has good food and good service. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent in every way"
The Best Western El Grande Inn has my highest recommendation. From the minute I stepped in to register, to the time I checked out, every one was so kind and helpful. The bed was amazingly comfortable. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of my room and bathroom. There was even a special cover to prevent germ exposure on the television's remote control. […] I would definitely stay at the El Grande Inn again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Thanksgiving night we received a friendly greeting from the front desk staff. She directed us where to park our car and travel trailer so that it would be monitored on the security camera (it's Clearlake, afterall). The hotel was suprisingly nice with interior hallways surrounding an interior courtyard. The room was clean and in good order and we found […] the bed comfortable (however the hide away in the couch was terrible and our son slept on the floor instead). We could see our car from our window too and encountered no problems. Check-out in the early morning was quick and easy and done with a friendly wish for a safe trip. While we usually stay at Marriott or Hilton brands, Best Western is a nice, clean place to stay for the night. When we need to visit relatives in Clearlake again, we would stay at the Best Western El Grande. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best Western El Grande- Clearlake"
I booked a suite, very comfortable and clean ( I stayed an extra night) .small but comfortable rooms.wet bar, micro & fridge. View of the lake over the parking lot. Still it was nice view of MT K. Nice atrium, great little pool (indoor) and Hot Tub (out of doors) Decent little lounge, the Restaurant was unimaginative but good basic food, better choice […] than many other places to eat. This was the one spot in Clearlake, and possibly on the entire lake I would recommend. There are a few much more expensive resorts, but this fit all my requirements. Beautiful hotel. Friendly front dest staff and housekeeping staff. Hotel has a full restaurant on the lobby. Food service was really slow. The waitress just came back from a 3 week illness. She can not handle all the customers. She was the ONLY ONE working the WHOLE restaurant. This Best Western should have a Cold Breakfast bar for $9.95..which should incl. cold cereals, oatmeal, yourgert and several bowls of bananas, apples, oranges. This will take the pressure off the ONE chef and ONE waitress for people on the go. There were several people who walked out because they could not wait any longer to get an order in. The Bus driver of a tour left because his order was SO LOW in getting filled. A middle age man kept running back into the restaurant to see WHY IS SO LONG IN GETTING HIS DISABLED MOM'S BREAKFAST COOKED to go. She as out sitting in his van in the parking lot waiting, waiting, waiting....he got SO FRUSTRATED that when he came in for the LAST time, he started yelling at the waitress. Restaurant could also a better choice of items on their BETTER MENU...offer a more healthier foods. Just to note: A NON-SMOKING ROOM is REALLY SUPPOSED TO BE USED for Non-Smoking occupants. I orginally first called the Best Western in Clear Lake directly. We orginally were offer a NON-SMOKING ROOM /King /ADA (which was told to be the LAST available room. However I pressured the front dest clerk about it, she finally admitted that room will be available by the time we get there but confessed that the ADAa NON-SMOKING ROOM by the time we get there. Currently at that time, that NON-SMOKING ADA room was being occupied by a lady for the past 3 months and she smokes. I asked WHO would occupy a hotel/motel room for 3 MONTHS. She said it's being paid for by an insurance company....therefore it must be because of some insurance issue and in her policy that if she was to be displaced by some sort of damage to her house, that her insurance carrier will pay for her lodging. She said there are NO ROOMS left and that the best she can offered. She said that by the time we get there, that SMOKING LADY would had checked out. I told her that's not how "NO-SMOKING "room works. When you have a SMOKING guest in a NON-SMOKING room, that smoking smell permenates into the sheets, the mattress, the curtains, the pillows, the carpets, etc. That smell doesn't go away until that WHOLE room is PROFESSIONALLY fumagated!!. I called the BEST WESTERN reservation headquarters office. According to their computer, that KING ADA ROOM was not being occupied at all and there are 6 MORE availiable room left in their inventory on this particular hotel so I asked them to call the Best Western in Clear Lake. I called back later and they had a 2 Queen NON-Smoking ADA rm for us so I booked it. Our 2 bed Queen room ADA was great, roomy EXCEPT the shower was a roll in shower with a shower wand which would be great water pressure was so slow. As we were checking out at the front desk, there was a young man there complaining about the cigerette smell in his room. He had checked into the KING- NON SMOKING ADA room, the ONLY room available the night before...so he must have been given the NON-SMOKING ADA King room of that SMOKING lady who occcupied it for the past 3 months.. That poor guy should be refunded his money back. Second hand smoke, fumes or residues are just as deadly.

Let me first state that I really only chose this hotel because of ill family member who lives in this area. It appeared to be the only "clean" hotel in Clearlake. Pros: 1. For the area that surrounds this hotel I would consider it nice. 2. Modern amenities for what I expected to be obsolete. 3. Fairly attractive interior hotel common area space. Con: 1. The surrounding area is....shall I say nicely....very lower blue collar. 2. We ended up with a "smoking room" king bed suite. I had no idea that their was even an option for smoking rooms in California anymore. The room had a terrible musty smoke smell in it. 3. We were advised, by the hotel desk clerk, several times to "lock our car and park under a light". With this all being said; I can't blame the hotel far the area. I would never voluntarily come to Clearlake for pleasure.

Had to make a trip to this area for personal/business. Needed to check out some property but couldn't stay at that location. Needed somewhere close and comfortable for grandchildren. They were pleasantly surprised and delighted by the hot indoor pool and room service. They wanted to stay another 3 days. Made the trip fun. Will stay here if the opportunity arises.
"Pot Smoke, Items taken from Room, Poor Resturant Service"
09/08/14 Sue C Elverta, California
The room next to us was a smoking room, although ours was not. The guest were smoking pot in the next room, the smell was so strong we had to open our door and the windows to attempt to air out the smell. Our grandson was with us, we kept him out of the room until we checked out. We were told that the room next to us was a smoking room. I am simply appalled by that answer. My understanding of a smoking room would be cigarettes or a cigar. Does that mean someone could smoke crack cocaine or meth in that room and that would be allowed because it is a smoking room?? Additionally, while my parents were having breakfast with us someone entered their room and took my mothers custom-made bracelet that was on the desk by the door. When this theft was reported to the front desk it was stated that they had been having a lot of reports of items coming up missing. I encouraged my mother to also report the theft to the Clearlake Police Dept. Finally, there was not a complementary breakfast offered; there was a restaurant on the premises for guest to eat. The hostess was rude, she was a young girl who acted as though our presents annoyed her. We would say "Thank you" and get no response, she would just turn and leave the table. It did take her quite a few trips to get the beverage orders straight and it would appear that again it had to do with us simply asking for something to drink. The waitress had little to no patience with us either. We were beginning to feel that we should have just went somewhere else. The waitress did comment that she normally works the dinner shift. I didn't realized that that you are supposed to be rude to the morning shift patrons and treat the dinner shift patrons difference. Anyway I sure hope she treats them better. I do have to say although I rated the rooms as terrible, due to the pot smoking next door. The rooms were actually clean, updated and nice decorated. The girls at the front desk who checked us in was very nice, she allowed us to check in a bit early due to the fact we had a wedding to attend at 3:00 and we all needed to change. I rated the value as terrible due to the theft in my parents room and the restaurant workers. My husband and I always attempt to stay at a Best Western if we can. Unfortunately, should we need to stay overnight in Clearlake again we will probably find other commendations.

check in service was get. Young girl at desk was great. Restaurant not very friendly and with only 2 tables should have felt more welcome. Bartender okay. Friendly but jot attentive. Restrooms near pool very clean. Pool, didn't use because all windows felt like on display. View of garbage out window. Not really feel secure. Internet SUCKED. room smelled like old woman's perfume and think it was to cover up the most DISGUSTING carpet I have ever walked on. Luckily had enough towels to make path to bathroom. Sheet torn. Thank God we brought our own blanket and pillows. As to find but wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed one night at this property and were rather disappointed by the service at the hotel. The staff at check-in and check-out could not have been more disinterested in their customers. Basic questions were met with stunned surprise by the front desk agents who gave the distinct impression that they did not want to be bothered. The room was okay and had everything that we needed but we would not recommend this property based on our interaction or lack thereof with the staff.

Over all the stay was good, only issue was AC would banged when it turned off and it would wake you up ( note: same issue for all three rooms) Food was excellent and service. problem with keying the rooms, Never had that issue before, have stayed there over the last three years. Other than that i will stay here again.

Stayed only one night but it was wonderful, the staff are amazingly friendly, the rates are good for what you get. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and clean. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you.
I prefer to only stay at a Best Western chain wherever I travel; sometimes that not possible. Out of all of my places I've stayed, from comfort of room, view on the 4th floor to the checking out this has been the best place I've stayed to date. Staff was great as was the food.
