"Grand Lucayan"
Great location but it is in need of a facelift. The most disturbing experience is the music they play constantly (24/7) over their speakers. The ocean view rooms, which have a beautiful view, are the ones that get blasted by this. Why pay more and then not be able to relax because of constant music with the same beat!?!

"Quiet for a large hotel"
This hotel is in a beautiful location with immediate access to restaurants, market and marina. The beach is beautiful. Nice pools though a bit chili in January. Nice fitness center and spa.

"Not worth the stay at any price"
Terrible attitudes, hospitality, and customer service. Charged upon departure by our hotel for fees already paid. Not one person know how to correct inaccuracies. Nothing more than a 2 star hotel with 5 star views.

"Pleasantly Suprised"
A great place for family vacation. Beautiful property, especially for the upper floor rooms. The view was awesome. I would recommend to pay a little more for the ocean view rooms, they worth the money. Very comfortable beds. Cleanliness was about 85% comparing to the higher-end U.S. hotels. They missed several obvious spots. Some parts of property were a little outdated but we could tell management was working on remodeling it. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would go back if we return to the same area.

"Five star location, one star service."
Beautiful location on the beach with great pools, but looks can be deceiving. Only a few of the restaurants open each night, and menus are limited. Service is very poor and staff are all constantly apologizing for the wait and food which is cold when served. Management staff know very little about responding to concerns. Definitely not up to the usual quality of Expedia Elite hotels.

"Good Hotel with Outdated Rooms"
The staff and and the service were great, but room the room did not deserve the 4-star hotel rating. They did have a flat screen TV, mini fridge, and safe in the room, but there was mold in the shower and the bed quality was something you'd expect from a crappy motel room. If you don't care what you sleep on and not planning to spend much time in the room, this hotel will work just fine.

"Lovely experience"
My husband and I traveled to Grand Lucayan with our 4 year old for the holidays. It was really the perfect spot. Everything was right outside the door - the beach, the pool, food, games, etc. I am not usually someone who stays on hotel grounds for an entire trip, but it was so convenient and relaxing, that we really just went from our room, to the beach, to lunch, to the pool, to the room - and ventured across the street to the marketplace for dinner or a stroll. It was a truly lovely experience.

"Aging hotel but nice overall."
This hotel is nice but needs some updating. The bathrooms and some other areas need some work to justify the cost. It is still one of the nicer places though. Restaurants are nice, staff is nice, beach is nice. Right across street from nice restaurants and shops.

"Nice place, staff are not what I expected"
The hotel facility is nice, the beach and the pool are very nice. The food is average. What I did not like is the staff in general but especially in the restaurants. They had an attitude. They are not pleasant and make you feel that they doing you a favor by taking the orders, rarely they smile or say something nice.

"worst vacation ever, waste of money"
marina view means being stuck over air conditioners that run 24 hours. all staff consistently could never answer any questions about anything. they don't care about the guests at all. no smiles. what do you expect when 15% gratuity is automatically added in. do yourself a favor and don't go there. I should get some type of refund from expedia.

Property very pretty. Beach great. Pool cold! Pool bartenders so slow it could make you crazy order two drinks at a time. No fitted Sheets gross mattress. Guest services very helpful and prompt. Food not good. Only good place is cappuccinos at the market place. Don't do all inclusive. So not worth it!

"TERRIBLE"
I was looking to book a 4 day vacation over Christmas with my boyfriend and strictly filtered to ALL INCLUSIVE resorts ONLY. Not only do I find out a week before I get there that you can't book all inclusive beforehand but it would cost $120 per person PER DAY for all inclusive and that doesn't even include all restaurants. I called the hotel to inquire about the extra $1000 for 4 days to make my trip all inclusive and they said I could pick and choose the days I wanted to have all inclusive. Since we were flying in mid-day on Thursday and leaving mid-day Sunday, it made sense to do all inclusive on Fri and Sat. Check in on Thurs and am told that that isn't offered anymore and it would have to be the entire trip. Then am given a room with 2 double beds instead of the king sized bed I booked so have to go back to the lobby and get a new room and move our stuff by ourselves. Not only does the bed not have a fitted sheet (literally had a top sheet thrown over the mattress that didn't even fit, but there were stains on it and the shower didn't drain so we stood in multiple inches of water. Called for late check out on Sunday and were told we could pay ANOTHER $35 to have the room until 3pm but would have to go to the lobby to get new keys so we did that - went to the beach/jet skied - went to the room to shower and get our bags and were LOCKED OUT. No one would unlock the door for us or help us at all so we almost missed our flight. VERY UNHAPPY DONT GO HERE!!!

"Beautiful resort needs help"
The resort overall is stunning and has a lot of potential. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but they seem overworked and are not able to give visitors the service you would expect from a resort. We were left waiting more than 30 to 40 minutes for lunch orders etc. the food was delicious, but they ran out of some dishes daily. Dinner reservations had to be made days ahead, and a spa appointment was not available until a week later. This is unacceptable as some visitors only staying for 5-7 days. Housekeeping did not come until late afternoon and fresh towels were not available until the evening. Facilities were good, but the pool restrooms were appalling. Toilets did not flush or clogged up daily and stall doors were broken. Even the changing rooms and restrooms in plantation cafe were out if order or stalls falling apart. We enjoyed our stay, but will have to try a different hotel next time due to these issues.

"Tournament Stay"
I've been in this property before. Love the proximity to the beach and the staff is friendly as before. Did notice wear and tear items this time. The security gates were dirty/ in need of paint. A few were in need of repair. Also, the auto doors for the coffee shop seemed to never be working. Finally, a few tiles in the shower were protruding. Like maybe they had been replaced but weren't pushed in to be flush.

"Great place to relax!"
We spent a long weekend during the off peak season (late November) and really enjoyed our stay. If ever we return to Grand Bahama we would definitely stay here again. It is moderately priced and there are good package deals. Paying a little extra for an ocean view room is worth it.

"Lovely resort on the water, big pool area"
Nice place to stay, staff is very pleasant. Lots of lounge chairs at the pool and on the beach. The market across the street would be more fun if all the sales people didn't constantly try to get you into their shops. Churchill's Restaurant is a beautiful setting, though the food was just average.

"Wonderful property"
You cant ask for a better location. Beautiful beach, great views. Lucaya Marketplace right across the street. The entire staff at the resort was very friendly and accommodating. Only down side was that a lot of the bars and restaurants were closed on different nights. Would of liked to see more bar/nightlife options at the resort.

"Long Weekend"
Where to start...Check in! Took the "fast ferry" from Ft. Laud.,Arrived at the hotel by noon. Stored luggage, got pre checked in, as rooms would not be available until 4 pm. Walked across the street to Port Lucaya marketplace and had lunch. Back at 2:30, room still not ready.(4 pm, remember?) Went to upper lobby and fell asleep in a chair while guests at a wedding reception tried to guess if I was related to the bride or groom. Room ready at 4 as promised and was pleased to find standard Starwood decor. (was a Sheraton, still appears to be, though no one on the island will talk about the subject) Ate most meals at the Marketplace across the street, but food at the China Beach outside near the pool was excellent, and the room service pizza was not bad for pre-made. Staff were friendly in all of my encounters, room was clean and tidy. On the downside, every time you leave the property, someone will try to sign you up for a Time Share presentation. You know the drill, the promised 90 minutes is soon 3 hours, and won't end until someone gets rude, but the cost of visiting the Caribbean. Should have stuck to the plan and just said no, thank you.

The rooms were nice and generally clean. There were some areas that should be updated and repaired, but nothing significant. The staff was exceptionally nice and always greeted you with a smile. The location is fantastic. It is within walking distance to a great scuba shop (Unexso) and several really, really good restaurants and shops.

The entire staff was accomodating, freindly and professional. The room was clean, well supplied, and offered an amazing view. What cought my attention, was how fast the elevators were; I can't remember waiting for more than a few seconds. The grounds were kept immaculate. I will be returning.

"Hotel clean and close to beach"
Had a great time. The hotel was on the beach, there was a market right a crossed the street with lots of stores and restaurants. Everyone was very friendly. The rooms are large, clean and the beds are comfortable.

The view, harbor side, actually half of the rooms, face a boring view, above all the mechanicals. Noisy. Electrical sockets hanging out the wall, with no caution sign. 3 floors did not have ice machines. Only thing beautiful was the beach

School had already started in most places so this seemed to be the start of the offseason. The good part was that it was not crowded. The bad part was that many of the hotel's restaurants were closed. Fortunately, our reservation was not all inclusive, so we had the option of going to restaurants nearby. We heard from a few people who had all inclusive reservations and they were very disappointed because options were few. Liked the fact that there was not a loud crowd or a lot of loud music. We are in our 50's and just wanted a restful trip.

The Grand Lucayan is the place to stay in Freeport. BUT!!!!! The pools and beach are beautiful and the mood is great for relaxing. However, the service is slower than island time on a weekend! We had to wait in line to check in for over 1/2 hour and we were helped because I opened my mouth. Then, after waiting until at 2 pm, we were told the room wasn't ready and were given a buzzer as if editing for a table at a restsurant. We were not buzzed and had to go back to the front desk and be pushy to not have to wait in line again. The room was beautiful once it was assigned. The Saturday evening beach BBQ/bonfire food was great as were our second and third morning breakfasts & Sunday brunch BUT the food served around the pool was terrible!!!!! By the 3rd day, we gave up and I walked to the marketplace across the street to get us a pizza. The pool bar ran out of ice tea & fruit for drinks like daiquiris each day so we basically ate our lunch as someone ran across the hotel campus to get us drinks. Our first breakfast was at the fast cafe called Plantation Cafe. My muffin was a half frozen mass produced muffin you'd see at a convenience store and they didn't have the ingredients for the smoothie I ordered. So, after waiting 20 minutes, they gave me mango purée from the bar. Staff was slow but pleasant and the location is great, but don't have any expectations when it comes to a speedy check in or good food while sitting at the pool or beach.

I am also excited to hear you enjoyed the BBQ Bonfire on Saturday but I am so sorry to hear that you experienced slow service around the pool and that our food was not up to our standards at the Plantation Cafe.
