wonderful accommodation, great service and excellent staff. staff are very friendly, hotel amenities are exceptional and swimming pool are very relaxing.
"Excellent Service"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The staff were super helpful and friendly. Service was impeccable. The room was a little small but it was very clean, well designed, quiet, and comfortable. The bed was delicious and we slept like babies.
"Great value, beautiful views"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We enjoyed the convenient location(right on the Endicott campus). Literally a short walk to the beach. Staff was helpful and friendly. Bed was listed as Queen size but it was actually a full size which was a bit small for the two of us. Otherwise, very enjoyable and would stay there again.
"Very nice hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Our son goes to college close by and we would stay here again. Very clean, staff was very nice and the breakfast was a bonus. Easy to get to and plenty of places to eat close by.
"close to airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Amazing, room service was excellent..

"The Boston Common Hotel was terrible"
I don't know where to start. This hotel is located very close to the Hynes convention center. This made for a very short walk. Unfortunetly there is no parking besides a garage that is across the street of the smallest door for a hotel ever. I had the worst time actually finding the hotel. The parking was something that I wasnt expecting to have to […] pay for but since the only parking was in thr garage it cost me 23 dollars with a stay per the desk. When I finally got in the hotel room was 9 feet by 9 feet. The temperature wouldnt go down past 80 even at the coolest. The bathroom towels had previous blood stains on one of them and the rest had little various stains on them. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. I would never suggest room 601 at the hotel ever. Read more

"Very Adequate"
This is an older hotel with all the shortcomings that come with that. But it is an excellent location in Back Bay area! Very easy to get to by subway. Rooms are small, bathroom old, but everything worked. As long as you know it's an old hotel you will be satisfied. The continental breakfast and room WiFi were good. I stayed here to run in the Boston […] Marathon, and hotel was two blocks from finish line! Plus they started breakfast at 5:15 AM specially for us runners which was appreciated!! Read more
The room desperately needed a paint job. Scuff marks, chipped corners and generally dingy. The bathroom sink & shower drain stopped up causing the shower to overflow into he bathroom and the sink to take hours to drain. When called, the staff said they would send up a maintenance person. It wasn't until 10:30 the next night when I brushed my teeth an […] the sink stopped up that a rep. From the hotel came up with security who demanded to be let in as well that i was offered a different room, which I declined at that hour for the night before I left. At the rate that is unacceptable. Read more
"Bad hotel, great location."
We were expecting a lot more from this place for the price. The location is great, and there's lots to eat and see within walking distance. However, everything else made us pretty annoyed. I'm a hardy traveler. I've been perfectly happy staying at hotels that obviously had roaches as long as I couldn't see them and the price was low. But for the price, […] this place disappointed on every level. The room was tiny, only about 10x10 (plus bathroom). The bed and pillows were the worst I've slept on in a long time. I woke up sore every morning. The view from the window was of a parking garage about 1.5 feet away, that blocked out almost all light/sky. Oh, and the window was sealed shut so our only air circulation was the tiny 1 square foot bathroom...hatch. It's really hard to have a romantic vacation when you can't ventilate stinky traveler's socks, and...well, toilet smells. Furthermore, the bed only had a sheet and a comforter, so we were often cold at night. On the last day, we finally saw the other two blankets crumpled up underneath the bed, still tucked into the mattress. Which suggested to us that our sheets weren't cleaned before we arrived, a suspicion that seemed to be confirmed by the presence of a handful of Raisinets we found behind the bed. The free wi-fi was good though, and the continental breakfast was pretty standard. Again, without considering the price, the hotel is fine. It's in a good area, with decent staff, and it's functional overall as a homebase while traveling. But it's an embarrassment for what we paid. Read more

"The lobby seemed nice....."
....but the room was much different. Walls and floors were stained and marred. The shower curtain seams were coated in soap scum and mold. And, duct tape was used to cover missing tiles on the shower wall. I have paid a forth of the room rate for nicer hotels (however, those hotels were not in Boston). I am kicking myself for missing my conference's […] group rate at the Marriott. Compared to the rates of other hotels in this area of Boston, it was cheap and close. My advice is to stay somewhere else and ride the train. Read more
"Very Sweet Little Hotel"
I liked that it was a small, boutique-feeling hotel that was very near Copley Sq & Back Bay but it was quiet since it was on a side street. The free breakfast provided was in a nice sunny atrium, or there's also a Dunkin' Donuts right on the same block. The staff was the real standout-- Richie helped with my bags, the front desk was also very helpful. I […] would stay here again, but I've heard that it's being flipped into condos next year, which would be a real shame. Read more

"Great location and a very good deal"
One could not ask for a better location. I thought that it was an excellent deal for the money. It was not the most luxurious room, but then I did not expect one.

"Good hotel if you just need a place to sleep."
Let's face it, it's boston and over $100 a night just isn't feasible or realistic for most of us. The most important things to me are: location, staff, linens, and bathroom. Location was perfect, just around the corner from the T station, within (safe) walking distance of shops, a mall, and restaurants. There is someone at the desk 24 hrs and they were […] all extrememly nice and helpful. Bath and body works amenities and the bathroom was clean and in good repair as were the linens. The room was small and the appliances could use an update as well as a good coat of paint on the walls, but my overall experience was pleasant. Our closet door had been scratched badly by the lock on the entry door and the walls had obivious dings and scraps from luggage etc, but the asthetics aren't as important to me. Good value for the neighborhood, perfect for just my boyfriend and I's weekend trip, and I'd stay there again if I couldn't find a better deal somewhere else. Read more

Good location, very small room. Breakfast was uneventful very light. Coffee juice and some or a few muffins. Not well maintained. Location to city and transportation very good.

"nice place"
its very convenience, and you can take subway nearby, the room is cosy.
"Wonderful small hotel in the middle of Boston."
If this were in Paris I would give it 3 stars as modern version of a pension. This is a small hotel with European sized rooms (small), "continental" breakfast, and very nice but limited staff. Unlike its equivalents in London, Paris, Basel or Rome, this pension is fully modernized .. the rooms are small but newly remodeled, a real elevatorm free wifi […] and nice people. Parking is in a public facility immediately next door, BUT, there is free overnight parking) until 8 AM ... so (with advice of the staff, we only paid a garage fee ($19) for one night of the four we were there. The only other negative is signage. Trinity is a stub of a street, this and the garage are all that are there ... and the sign for the hotel is about as large as s large serving tray. The entrance, again pension style .. is miniscule .. a few stairs, a small door. WE SHALL RETURN! Read more
Very convenient location. Friendly, helpful staff.
"Dont stay here unless you absolutely have to!!!!!"
Great Location, however, the room was dirty and very small with a view of a wall of the parking garage next door. The rate was outrageous for the lack of amenities and size of the room. The bed was very hard, dingy comforter on the bed and the electronics need to be updated ( the room had a tubed television. I usually stay at the Westin Copley square, […] which was sold out on New Years Eve, and my only available option was the Boston Common Hotel & Conference Hotel, needless to say I was very disappointed and will NEVER stay there again. Overall the location of the hotel is fantastic it is within proximity of Copley Square with easy access to transportation and all surrounding sights. Also the staff of the hotel is very professional and helpful. For example, I asked to changed room because it was very dirty and the staff was very helpful and apologetic and did not hesitate to assist. […] The rooms are somewhat comfortable but the bathrooms are deportable. The inside shower curtain appear to have fungus all over and as if it has never been washed or changed. The bath tub was repulsive and ghastly. However, rated as a 2* I would stay at this hotel again because of the location. Read more

"Not Grand but a Nice Alternative"
This little place is not actually little at all, except compared to the giant hotels across the street. It's sandwiched between a parking garage and some other stuff in a tiny side street just around the corner from Back Bay station. The John Hancock seems like a place that is a few years past its prime, but still doing ok: The entrance features a grand […] foyer ... and a funky smell of some kind. Perhaps the carpet in the hallway could be a bit less shabby, but how important is the carpet in the hallway? The room was perfectly comfortable, although the plumbing is quite noisy. And the wireless internet was complimentary, but pretty iffy on the 6th floor, which was frustrating. I stayed here in order to avoid paying for the fancy place across the street where my conference was taking place. It was still a big-city rate, but about half of its neighbors. The John Hancock is literally less than a 5-minute walk from Bay Back station, the giant Prudential Center mall, Copley Square, the public library and many other places I didn't have time to visit. In summary, the place grew on me over the course of 5 days and I can recommend it to you if you don't require a nice view or corporate service. (The employees were very nice here, too.) Read more

"OK Hotel"
The hotel is in a central location - even if the entrance is hidden up a side road. This is really a conference center and is ok for tourists but it has no comfy lounge or bar area to hang out in and the breakfast space is pretty sparse. Internet connections are weak too
"John Hancock Hotel - Not as portrayed"
The first night was a disaster. They put me in a room that was so small and c ramped I could touch the door of the bathroom with my foot from my "single" bed. The only chair in the room had a massive grease stain and there was no place to set up my computer or even plug it in. After complaining, loudly, I was moved to a better room, larger with separate […] desk and chair and I could plug in my computer. This is a one star or even lower hotel. Rate was good. Accomodations left a lot to be desired. One plus, the staff was very accomodating and did the best they could with what little they had. Read more

"Inexpensive option for downtown Boston"
Boston is very expensive. If you want a hotel in a good location within walking distance of attractions, you'll have to shell out some bucks! If you're willing to give up some luxury, this place is a good trade-off and a good value. It's within walking distance of most things. We used it as a base for walking the freedom trail and going to Cheers. The […] room itself was kind of old, but acceptable; as long as you don't have high standards. The lobby was nice.. had an old and classy feel to it.. too bad the rooms don't match.. they could use some serious updating. The free continental breakfast was nice. Parking is additional and also not cheap.. expect to pay ~$20 - $30 per day at the garage across the street; and expect to walk a ways with your luggage to get to your room. But overall, a good place to stay if you're looking for a trade-off; keeping good location and lower cost. Read more
"John Hancock Hotel - great location!"
While this hotel is a bit worn but very clean and the staff was freindly. The location near Copley Square is very convenient. I was there alone on business and the rooms and bathrooms are very small so it might be a bit cramped for a couple. I wouls stay there again.
"good location"
Hotel was in great location. Nice lobby and nice staff. The room was disappointing. The walls were scuffed and beat up really bad. Bedspreads were old, faded and worn out. Overall, for price we got we dealt with condition of room because of the location.

"Great Location"
We stayed that the John Hancock Hotel for a little R&R time for my wife and I. As it was our first time in Boston we wanted to see all the highlights of this Wonderfully historic City. We arrived via Amtrak. The station is literally right around the corner from the hotel. The subway system also has a pick up in the same station as Amtrak. The hotel […] is a block away from Copley Square where the beautiful Trinity Church resides and where we caught the Tour Tolleys to see the City and the Freedom Trail. The location could not have been better! Read more
"John Hancock Hotel - Never Again"
Booked this hotel based on location and that is the only good review point for this hotel. Customer service and hotel and room accomodations would of been better at Motel 6! Will never stay or recommend this place to anyone.

"John Hancock Hotel and Conference Center - NOT GOO"
Not actually in John Hancock Building! Across street in much older building. Terrible, small rooms, very old dated rooms and bathrooms. Would not use again!!
"Good basic lodging, convenient to transit"
The John Hancock was a great discovery. It's a 1925 building that shows its age in some ways but was just fine for my needs. Good value for price paid. Tricky to find the first time; Back Bay T station is just around the corner, and Copley Square Station three blocks north. Trinity Place is a very short street directly behind Trinity Church. A huge […] parking garage exits right by the front entrance of the hotel. Don't expect a view; you may see the parking structure or other buildings. Continental breakfast was as expected. I'm a female traveling alone and would definitely stay there again. Read more
"John Hancock Hotel--Boston - Back Bay"
Fantastic location. Close to transportation, great restaurants, the Charles River, parks, and two shopping malls. This is a small hotel that gives very personalized service. There was generally just one person at the front desk at any one time. All of the front desk people were very helpful and eager to provide good service. The downside of this hotel […] is that the room and bathroom were quite small and somewhat shabby There was paint chipping on the doors and the carpet was frayed in places. The bathroom was very clean though. It was certainly adequate, and the location cannot be beat, especially for the price. Once we got used to the shabbiness, we really appreciated the location. "Convenient and affordable!"
Hancock Center is modestly priced, with friendly, helpful staff - no wi-fi in rooms, but lobby has Business Center with wi-fi, printer, ATM, Fax - Continental breakfast was good - not the jazziest decor, but a good value for Boston, and great location.
"Shabby rooms, nice location"
My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights, and had no major problems with this hotel. Pros: It's in the "shopping district" near Copley Square The hotel has the potential to be "classically classy" Affordable compared to other area hotels Friendly front desk Decent continental breakfast Free computer use Cons: Our room had scuffs on the walls, […] the headboard was separating from the wall, and the bathroom was pretty unexciting. In other words, the hotel rooms need a refresh. Weak wifi on our floor Poor signage on hotel makes it hard to tell it's a hotel Stairs-only entrance to the hotel, making it tricky to bring in large luggage Overall we enjoyed our stay, but yeah, you're a Boston Hotel in a prominent area- clean up and update the roms a bit! "Decent hotel - Best price that week"
The John Hancock is reasonably good. I use it when its got the best price among the hotels in the Back Bay area (which is the bet spot to stay).
"Worn and Torn"
peeling paint, musty smell in the room. Yuck.
"Worth it if you want to save some money"
The hotel wasn't the cleanest or fanciest I've ever stayed at. The bathroom could have used good cleaning (dust in the corners, but nothing too disgusting). For the location, the price was great. It was super convenient to get on the T and the money we saved on the hotel, we were able to spend a few blocks away on Newbury. Worth it if you want a cheap, […] convenient hotel. Read more
"Small room with no ventilation"
The first room we stayed in was super small, the windows didn't open and there wasn't a vent or fan in our bathroom so when someone took a shower it steamed up the whole room and we had to air it out by keeping our main door open. One day we came back to the room and it smelt like mold, probably because we showered in the morning and there wasn't any […] ventilation so coming back to the room was terrible. The front desk very kindly moved us to a different room, which was a handicap room. That was the only one left which was fine with us. That room was much bigger and we could actually move around in it which was nice, but there still wasn't a vent or window to open. The breakfast ends at 9:30 and is just bread and cereal with a little fruit like apples. They have a microwave, toaster and coffee machine there too. Read more
"Great Price for a Great Location"
The hotel is perfectly located if you want to see Boston and catch a game at Fenway. You can walk to many great locations, no taxis needed. The rooms were on the smaller side, but typical for older hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We rented a car for a few days to see sights outside of the city and were able to find street parking overnight […] to avoid the high priced garage across the street. Meters are free from 8pm until 8am. Overall a great place to stay! Read more
