The Convent Hotel is located on one of the main streets in Amsterdam and within easy walking distance to the Centraal Train station and Dam Square-so public transportation is a snap. The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friently. The one complaint about the staff is that they do not seem very knowledgeable about typical tourist activities in Amsterdam and we didn't find a concierge staff member to help with some of our questions. Our booking through hotels.com did not include the breakfast, which looked wonderful and was expensive, so we found a lovely little care within a block or two from the hotel for our breakfasts. Lots of tours seem to use the hotel, so the staff is very comfortable speaking in English with everyone.The entrance to the hotel faces the very busy street, but the rooms are all in the back of the hotel and are very quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I would suggest trying to get the breakfast included in the hotel price.

The hotel was clean, nice, the staff friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. The location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants, and things to see in Amsterdam.

The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.

"Bastion in Amsterdam"
Our initial experience was taking the shuttle and disembarking. At the reception desk, we were told that our reservation was at the other hotel. Six of us were left stranded for the next van. The return to the airport took 25 minutes. The room was third world.
"No nonsense place to stay for an early flight"
I had an early flight out of Schipol, and needed a room that included a shuttle to the airport. This place turned out to be clean, quiet, and the staff was a pleasure to deal with.

Nothing terrible, nothing attractive. All right for a brief overnight stay in order to catch my flight the next morning.

The Bastion Hotel is a decent value compared to others in the area. It is very close to a park with a small lake and many nice running trails. It is a quiet place, a nice break from some of the other busy Amsterdam destinations. Breakfast was good as well.

In a residential neighborhood, there are very few places to eat nearby. There is a Marriott within easy walking distance, however, and a beautiful large park that would be perfect for picnicing. Also a greatlocation to recover from jet lag!
"Happy at Hoofddorp"
My wife and I were pleased not only with the accomodations but the helpfulness of the staff. After calling, they picked us up at the Schiphol Airport with their free shuttle service. The desk clerk provided us with local bus information for a quick excursion to nearby cities. The free Unsecured Wireless Internet access was great. "Bastion Schipchol Hoofdorp"
I did not get what I did book. Instead of two twin beds I get two single bed. The duty manager was not nice to us, he told us when we do not like we can go somwhere elss. It was after 10 pm on 24.06.2011. We were trying to talk to him but he was ignoring us.

Close enought to the airport for convenience, but far enough away to not be disturbed by the noise. A great hotel if all you need is a stopover in AMS, It's clean and comfortable and the restaurant is more than adequate. "bastion Hotel schiphol, onenigheid over shuttlebus"
bij aankomst werd ons vertelt dat we er geen mogelijkheid was om gebruik te maken van de shuttlebus service naar schiphol de volgende ochtend wegens overbezetting. Wij spraken hierover ons ongenoegen de shuttlebus service de reden was van de keuze van het hotel. op de website wordt deze service aangekondigd en het leek ons een recht om hiervan gebruik […] te maken. Ons werd aanvankelijk gezegd dat het net als een rookvrije kamer om een service ging die niet geeist kon worden als deze niet leverbaar was op een bepaald moment. Ons leek het iets heel anders. Als je je profileert als Schihol hotel dan moet erop gerekend kunnen worden dat er een shuttlebus service is. Het werd een beetje vervelende discussie. Uiteindelijk heeft een andere medewerker (mogelijk hoger in rang) een telefoontje gepleegd en werd ons het vervoer naar Schiphol toch toegezegd. Een chauffeur zou dubbel rijden oid. De volgende morgen stond er inderdaad op de afgesproken tijd een busje klaar en werden we zonder verdere problemen naar Schiphol gebracht. Toch zullen wij niet gauw bij dit Schiphol hotel weer boeken omdat de shuttlebus service kennelijk niet gegarandeerd is. Read more
"Eher nicht so!"
Das Hotel befindet sich sehr weit von der Innenstadt von Amsterdam, jedoch nahe des Flughafens gelegen. Wir waren mit dem Auto unterwegs, deswegen war es ok. Das Hotel bietet viele kostenlose Parkplätze an. Um zur Innenstadt zu gelangen ist es empfehlenswert, das Auto an einem P & R abzustellen für 8 €, dann kann man sein Auto max. 24 stunden oder mehr? […] abstellen und kostenlos mit dem Bus oder dem Zug in die Innenstadt hin und zurück fahren. Ausserdem fährt ein hoteleigener Shuttleservce stündlich kostenlos zum Flughafen, um von dort zur Innenstadt mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu gelangen. Der letzte Shuttlebus fährt vom Flughafen zum Hotel um 23.00 oder 24.00 Uhr, also ohne Auto müsste man sehr früh wieder zum Hotel fahren. Zum Hotel: Der Empfang war sehr freundlich, und hat uns auch die Informationen aufgeschrieben, wo wir das P & R finden und hat uns noch einige Tipps gegeben. Das Hotel an sich ist schon etwas veraltet, in dem Flur nimmt man einen seltsamen Geruch war. Das Zimmer sieht äußerlich mit den 2 getrennten Betten zwar in Ordnung aus, aber die Einrichtung an sich ist auch schon etwas veraltet und hat schon bessere Tage erlebt. Das Bett war meiner Meinung nach nicht gemütlich, es waren Federbetten und es hat sich hart gelegen. Das Badezimmer ist zwar sauber, aber uns gefiel nicht, dass die Dusche eben war mit dem Fußboden, sodass der gesamte Fußboden im Badezimmer lange Zeit nass und eklig war. Die Handtücher und Badetücher haben nach muff gerochen, ich hätte lieber meine eigenen Handtücher mitbringen sollen. Ausserdem sind die Zimmer sehr hellhörig, in einer Nacht haben wir sehr laut hören können, wie neue Hotelgäste neben unserem Zimmer waren und sich geduscht haben. Ich habe eigentlich einen tiefen Schlaf, aber man konnte einfach alles laut hören und über einer längeren Zeit wird man auch richtig wach davon. Also an Ohropax denken! "Gut fuer eine Uebernachtung geeignet."
Es ist ein preiswertes Hotel und dementsprechend klein sind die Zimmer. Das Personal ist nicht unfreundlich, aber unaufmerksam. Das Hotel liegt weit ausserhalb, dafuer ist in direkter Umgebung ein schoener Park mit See und einem netten Restaurant.

The hotel is near Amsterdam airport and easy to acces from there by a coach. However we were disappointed that the room we got had inside temperature of min 12 dgr c when we entered it.The heater was off and it took the whole night to heat it up to 18 dgr. "Hotel Bastion Schiphol : pratique et très correct"
J'ai trouvé l'hotel agréable et confortable pour un séjour professionnel ; il n'est pas trop grand ni trop formaté, relativement chaleureux avec le Bar à l'accueil. Beaucoup de personnes en déplacement professionnel. L'accueil est bon, les chambres d'un niveau de confort correct pour le prix à proximité de l'aéroport, avec un accès facile. L'environnement […] est ordinaire et la route assez proche mais l'isolation est bonne. Le restaurant propose des plats simples mais bien faits et assez copieux, l'ambiance est assez familiale. Des habitants du "quartier" s'y retrouvent pour un dîner (c'est bon signe) ou simplement boire un verre. Le petit déjeuner reste cher, comme souvent aux Pays Bas, pour la prestation et attention, à 9h tout est débarrasé :-( Ma chambre était très propre et agréable, avec mini bar pratique et à petit prix. Hotellet är rent och snyggt. En liten bar och restaurang men mer behövs inte. Något dåligt tryck i duschen som endast var väggfast. Det är nog det enda som jag inte gillade.
"Waar voor je geld"
Net hotel, niet meer en niet minder, beetje verouderd maar daardoor niet slecht. Redelijke bedden, schone badkamer en een heerlijk onbijt buffet. Gewoon netjes!
