Great location, right on the boardwalk. Only downside, bad parking. No where to park. Still a nice stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It is what it is.."
Close to the sand and all the quirky amenities that Venice has to offer but certainly not a very clean hotel. The staff accommodated our request to change rooms as the original room reserved was in NO condition to sleep in.. floors were dirty and the window did not lock. (Being on the first floor that was a major safety issue) No central heating but […] they did provide a space heater. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel if you get the right room."
Venice is unique. So be ready for that. If you want an ocean view make sure to request a room on the from o the building. Room 401 where I stayed had an amazing view! Big props to the staff. Matthew was awesome and helped me in every way possible. Can't imagine a better place to stay on the Venice boardwalk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Pleasant. Unique!"
It was very clean; eclectic old hotel building restored; very pleasant and helpful staff. If you are a single woman and plan to walk at night I would take a cab instead. Felt safe during the day but some borderline folks hanging around.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great Hotel! Matt at the front desk was very friendly and helpful . The only negative was the lack of water pressure in shower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Venice Beach Suites - In the heart of Venice"
When you stay right on the beach in Venice, you must bear in mind that you will get the full eclectic, funky, fringe experience...which I love! The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Our room had many windows which overlooked the boardwalk. Overall a very good experience!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, adequate facility"
The location of this place is great if you want something different. Walk out the door onto the boardwalk with skaters, medical marijuana clinics, and all the wonderful wackiness of Venice Beach. Or cross over the boardwalk to the beautiful beach. The service is just adequate and the rooms are functional but not great. Bottom line----stay here if you […] want to have an interesting time in a place that is anything but the usual. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"In the Middle of the Venice Scene"
Great for being so close to the beach and having the board walk just out the front door, food and vendors- AWESOME! Parking was street and very hard to find on a saturday. DO NOT TAKE A TRUCK, the parking lot that is associated will not take them small or Large. If you have a small car it works best and parking will be much easier. Bring breakfast and […] make yourself in the kitchenette in the room!! Awesome! Board rentals available is a plus. Fun Creepy elevator!! or boring stairs... your choice. I probably won't pay as much as I did a night for a place like this in the future, but given the time of year it was about right. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Expedia reviews as well as the hotel's website made this place seem like a great idea for my fiancee's 30th birthday. Once we got there, we realized that the hotel was in no way as advertised. The hotel itself is dirty and dingy. The toilet and shower in the bathroom were filthy, the bed was uncomfortable and low to the ground, and the room was […] tiny. This place might appeal to some as a surfer-style hotel, but for the price, this place was a horrible deal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Located right in the crazy mix of Venice Beach, the Venice Beach Suites and Hotel is a charming boutique hotel. The building is old, however the rooms were adequately equipped. Each room has one queen bed with a rollaway bed offered. Satellite TV was available as well. The room we stayed in had a small kitchen area with a stove, microwave, and refrigerator. […] I loved the hardwood floors. Yes, there are no a/c units. But you don't need an a/c unit most days in So. Cal. Yes, the building is old. It is what it is. The rooms are not big and there are brick walls. But what do you expect from a building from the early 20th century? There is no parking lot, but they have a parking agreement with a lot about two short blocks away. Not a big deal. In fact, the gentleman at the front desk walked down to the lot to make sure everything was okay. About the neighborhood. If you get uncomfortable around any type of counter-culture, you won't like Venice Beach. Venice Beach is wacky. It is busy. There are hippies and bums and punk kids and freaks around the boardwalk and side streets. But most are harmless. Still, if the idea of anything other than boring whitebread suburbia makes you nervous, you need to stay in Santa Monica or Marina Del Rey. Just expect to pay more. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I can't say enough good things about they way everyone treated us. It was quite refreshing. Overall, I would stay here again and recommend to others. "IT'S WORTH A TRY!"
Venice Beach Suites And Hotel was located on the boardwalk and the front room had a dynamic view of the beach... that was all that was really necessary! The hotel room was like an apartment and was clean. The manager was friendly (though no Saturday maid service). Would not hesitate to stay again but am looking for something a bit more. Parking Was […] Expensive if you are from the West Cost but we paid anyway for safety and convenience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I found this hotel on hotels.com while searching for anything close to UCLA while picking up our student for the Summer. The location was convenient. The manager was great and recommended some great restaurants nearby, like James Beach and the Canal. I kind of like the edginess around Venice. My wife found it a little haphazard and on the […] dirty side, but hey, that's the beach. The room was cute and efficient. Only real complaint is a little noisy with the comings and goings of guests, and parking a little inconvenient. Bottom line; I'd recommend to a friend with a little explanation. Thanks for the stay. "Hotel w/ great vibes in the heart of Venice Beach"
Wonderful hotel that had everything we needed. Wonderful old school charm and history, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, centrally located and right on the beach with beautiful views of the boardwalk from our windows. And a kitchen! My critique would be that it would be better if the room as a whole was cleaner. And they could have better bath […] products and updated TVs. The price per night justifies that these things should be good quality. But, being that we were there for fun and to experience the beach and the gritty, eccentric nature of the boardwalk, those things can be easily overlooked. We had so much fun staying at this hotel. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Awesome for adults"
If you are looking for room service, fresh-hot towels, and breakfast served to your door every morning, then you need to look elsewhere. If you are looking for a simple, friendly, convenient stay, this is your place. This hotel is very old with wood flooring and an elevator that is 105 years old (your can smell the gear grease). The floors creak and […] the rooms are small. The shower does not get hot if you wait until nighttime to shower. The room was very simply decorated and right on the Venice Walk. For the price, its location and cleanliness was perfect! If you are coming to experience the REAL Venice Beach, this is the place to do it! Lots of friendly characters right outside the hotel doors, day and night. Parking fee of $20-$25 down the alley or you can find a spot in the neighborhoods nearby. Overall this stay was awesome except for the brat that kept throwing tantrums and pushing the chair around on the wood floor in the room above us. Parents with small children need to tend to them and remember there are other guests above and below you!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Venice Beach Suites & Hotel"
WOW! This was an experience. For the LOCATION of the hotel it was PERFECT. The condition of the hotel wasn't like staying at the Hilton by far. It is an old building. The elevator must of been the original one when the building was built! You had to manually open the door and a gate. And you had to make sure when you got off that you closed the door […] and gate or no one else could call it from another floor. It was pretty cool though. The rooms were like a studio apartment. It had a kitchen with fridge, microwave, 2-burner gas stove, & sink. They also provided you with all the dishes, pots, silverware, cups, paper towels, sponge, dish soap, etc. VERY CONVENIENT if you plan on being there for at least a week. It had an old ball and claw tub, with shower, but the shower curtain was a little bit scary. It is an older hotel; you could tell by how the paint on the walls was chipping, etc. All in all, I would stay there again just because of the location & the price. The hotel manager was EXTREMELY helpful with directions to grocery stores and where we can or cannot park. They have beach chairs, rice mats, swim boards, and beach toys for the guests to check out for free. The hotel is great for location. When you walk out the front door of the hotel you walk out onto Venice Beach where all the shops, vendors and restaurants are. We could actually look out our room window for a great view of the ocean and everything going on on the promenade. When it gets dark everything closes down. The neighborhood is a bit scary, but for the price and the location it was perfect. Like I said if you like the Hilton you probably don't want this hotel. But if you want good rates with ALL the amenities and good location, this is the right place to stay. I would DEFINITELY stay here again :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right on the Beach"
The main selling point here is that it is right on the beach. I mean unless you pitched a tent in the sand you couldn't get any closer. Plus it's probably the cheapest hotel you'll find that close. I booked through hotels.com so I didn't actually talk to the staff until the day we were going to check in and found out their office closes at 9 pm and […] opens at 9 am so I had to get the key from a lock box. It wasn't ideal but still not difficult. Also without the email that was sent after talking to them I would have NEVER found it. The address online is not the address to put in your GPS. Getting there late at night and being tired made for a bit of confusion trying to find it. I was pretty frustrated by the time I got there but once I saw it, it seemed easy. haha That is probably the only real negative. It's just a simple hotel, nothing super fancy but if your main goal is to stay on the beach then this is the place to be. If you want luxury it might not be your choice. It was so nice to get up the next morning and walk out the door onto the sidewalk and stroll along the beach. We had breakfast at a wonderful place a few doors down. I felt pretty safe although I probably wouldn't have walked around at night alone. There were a few shops and restaurants so if you didn't want to go far you would be fine. The front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. Other than locating it, you can't beat it for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Becafeful when choosing this Hotel. If you like hard park benches the beds are great. The hot water was out so if you like cold showers its a great place to stay. "Cute little hotel on the beach"
Just recently went down here with my boyfriend because he was dying to go to Venice Beach so I gave him a little extra treat and got us a hotel right on the beach! The location is unbeatable. You're right on the boardwalk and literally a few steps from the beach! The day time activities are endless, but it gets a bit shady at night. I was a little scared […] to leave the hotel once it started getting dark. The hotel managers were GREAT and amazingly helpful. They had beach stuff in the main office that guests could borrow for free. The rooms were nice and quaint. The bathroom was a bit too small for two people and we had some trouble with our shower. Also, the walls were pretty thin so we could hear what was going on in the hall and the room next door, and I'm sure they could hear us too. The sheets didn't look very clean, but we had them changed. Overall, pretty great hotel aside from a few minor problems. I'd stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Old hotel with no parking or anything else"
This hotel is very old and neglected. The one elevator is an antique with two sliding doors that you have to open that don't work very well. The room has no heat or air and the temperature was 40 outside the night we stayed. We were on the fourth floor and it took 10 minutes for the water to get hot in the old clawfoot bathtub which had a shower curtain […] around it on a rickety old frame. The bathroom was so small that I could not bend over the tiny sink without tripping over the toilet. There is no parking and a paid lot is $15 for the night and is 3 blocks away. Parking at night and walking back to the hotel is of concern in this neighborhood. The police arrested 2 different people that we saw while driving to the parking lot. We stayed at Venice beach suites for 3 days and 3 nights. The friendliness of the staff was awesome and so was there knowledge of the area, so any questions could be answered. "Depends on what you are looking for...."
My wife and I spend a long weekend at the Venice Beach Hotel and loved it!! Our check-in was quick and very pleasant. The only downside was being on the 4th floor while the elevator was broken (for the record it was fixed the next day). The room was a bit smaller than we had imagined it was, but very clean and comfortable. We loved the old claw bathtub. The […] location is perfect! It is within walking distance for Venice Beach and the Santa Monica pier. The skateboard park was right across the street and you are very close to several very good restaurants. "It's a good hotel for the location and value."
First of all the hotel was hard to find using our GPS, we only found it by accident as we walked along the beach. The check in went smooth and we were given great advice about where to park (the hotel has no parking spaces) and where to eat. The hotel is nice that it's unique and the staff were very helpful and friendly. My husband I and did not feel […] safe though, as there were a few aggressive street people, plus the streets are pretty bare after 10 pm, however there were always police. The hotel entrance can only be accessed by guests after 9 pm and both entrances are locked. My husband and I are used to hotels like Best Western and ones that are located in different neighbourhoods, mind you we had no problems here and by morning the streets were full of people. "Great place to take a walk on the wild side!"
Great location right on Venice Beach, and perfectly acceptable and comfortable rooms, with a degree of character, very helpful staff, and a side-on sea view. But as previous reviews point out, you have to come with the knowledge that this is in what you might call a characterful and bohemian area - we were prepared and therefore more than happy here, […] but would suggest it might not be the best location either with kids, or any of your party are not very broad-minded! We loved 'Danny's' restaurant - 5 mins away, and the Santa Monica beach and pier 40-45 mins walk away, where you can also get the hop-on, hop-off bus tour of LA. Parking for us was $15 per night in a car park round the corner, but make sure you take a map as the one-ways can be difficult to negotiate. Great place right on the beach at a cracking price, but you do need to be warned!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We checked in late in the evening and was greeted in the parking lot by the manager, which was a first for any hotel that we have stayed at. The manager then walked us to our room and explained everything to us about the area, room and the hotel. The location is absolutely fantastic as it is right across the street from the beach that is home to dozens […] of seals. The only draw back is that the map of the area they provided was not that great, and although we did not require their service, it would be nice to have the piece of mind that someone fro the front desk is there throughout the night should any needs arise. "Old fashioned charm in spades"
Lovely, unpretentious place that fits in with the Venice Beach neighbourhood perfectly. If you are looking for a modern, sleek, full-service hotel, this is NOT the place for you. There is no restaurant or fitness centre, the bathroom is tiny, and there's no one in the office after 9:00 p.m. What this place has is old fashioned charm in spades. We had […] a room with a view of the ocean, and it was such a wonderful place to relax with coffee after a day of exploring. The bed was very comfortable; the other furniture a bit pulled-from-grandma's-garage but it works. There's a tiny kitchenette, so you can cook something simple if you don't want to go out. The elevator is very old but enthusiastic. There is WiFi -- a welcome modern touch. The people were delightful. I truly could not have been happier with our visit. "Could be Better"
I was really looking forward to wake up to the view of the beach, however I was quite disappointed with my room. We stayed in a 'queen studio with ocean view' as described in hotels.com (I was misguided), however all the queen rooms only had windows along the side of the hotel! So you have to press your cheek against the window to see the sea. King […] rooms had windows facing the sea. The staff there were very friendly and supplied us with directions and help whenever we needed. They have free equipment (surf boards, beach chairs, balls..) for stayers to borrow as well. The cleanliness of the room was great, the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, cutlery, plates, bowls and so on. The tv was mounted high on the wall which made lying and watching a pleasure. Now for the downside. The shower stall is very very small!! The heater provided is also very small and not powerful. During winter the room is very cold even with all the windows closed and the heater doesn't provide much heat at all. One thing I really disliked was the bed. It was creaky and uneven at the edge, in the center, everywhere, rather uncomfortable to sleep in. All in all, you spend more time outside so it doesn't bother me all that much. Just note that everything in the hotel is rather narrow and tight (walkway, lift, toilet, room). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
