Surprisingly good. Excellent location (just in front of the beach and other facilities). Very helpful and nice staff. We got a room upgrade for free ! The kitchenette was really appreciable. Totally worth the price of the room, especially the partial view suite !Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel on Venice Beach"
Great hotel on the beach, affordable, clean, has everything you might need. Microwave, small fridge. All in all would stay there again. Only bother was that the mattress was very uncomfortable. Could feel all the springs on my ribs all night long had to lay an extra blanket down so I could rest at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Trying, but still dusty and musty"
The hotel is right on the Venice Boardwalk which is good and bad. It's a seedy place at night. Not the part of Venice that is nice. The hotel tries to do a good job at being a nice hostel, but when I walked in, the room was musty, there was dust on the shades. Didn't feel clean. Very old linens and furniture. Tried to make the best of it. Asked for […] extra pillows. When they came found a bed bug. I am told that can happen anywhere. Hotel was very nice and gave us a full refund and we went to Hotel Hermosa. Wish I could recommend, but I won't be returning or recommending. It's a shame because the staff was super friendly. Cozy and comfortableGenuine Expedia guest review
We loved this place. Very quaint, great location right on the boardwalk. Very nice staff. :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would not stay here again"
Crappy bed , strange noises at nigh that kept me and my girlfriend up ALL night. Was expecting a lot nicer, more romantic stay from the reviews I read, and I'm really not that picky, but this place did not cut it for a romantic getaway.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic beachfront location"
Boutique old world hotel with the most friendly and accommodating staffGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I'm glad I stayed there"
The building is quite old, however, new flooring, paint and of course the best location ever more than compensate. The hotel staff was quite helpful, beds comfortable and the views of the action on venice beach and ocean made for a great stay! I had a great time being in the center of action.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Incredible Location on the beach"
Great spot. Request room 201 to have a excellent view of the boardwalk and beach. Older building but fixed up well. Quiet given its location. We stayed overnight while waiting for an International departure from lax. It was an easy $60 übercab ride.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Experience Venice Beach with a View"
I appreciate the idea of repurposing old buildings rather than knocking them down or letting them decay. This hotel had a friendly staff and our room had a nice view of the beach and ocean. It is right in the middle of all the characters that roam Venice, but walking distance to great restaurants on Abbot Kinney where the crowd is a little more "normal". […] Parking can be a challenge, but we lucked out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel by venice beach"
This was a fun experience. Our room was in front next to the side shows so we got to see everything from our couch. Nice bicycle trails from santa monica to marina del rey. Great place to spend a few days.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The view was amazing, just like in the picture."
Went for a day at the beach . this hotel is within seconds to the beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Interesting Hotel in an Interesting Place"
What an interesting experience. If you are looking to really experience Venice Beach in all its color then I strongly recommend this hotel. My son was afraid to use the antique elevator but my daughter thought it was charming. I stayed here with my older teen agers. I'm not sure I would bring young kids to this area but the hotel is very nice. No one […] from the hotel is there after about 9 pm which I did not really like but the locks seemed solid. "Nice Place in Scary Neighborhood"
We stayed here for 5 days and the rooms were nice, location to the beach is great and the staff were really friendly. Two down sides were that Venice Beach is a little scary and there is no hotel parking, so you have to find a spot on the steets which can be frustrating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"On the boardwalk across from the beach."
The area is filled with aggressive homeless people, drug dealers, and is unsafe for night activities. Skateboarders pose a hazard to pedestrians and street vendors berate people who do not provide them with money.Genuine Expedia guest review
"There are better options in Venice, CA"
Hotel is way over priced - the location is the only thing it has going for it. For the price we paid I've stayed at much better hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Really great location, even better customer service from the owner. Cozy, free boards/water sport stuff to rent, full kitchen in rooms, great views.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location on the beach"
Busy and funny area during the day, very query at night, even on a Friday nightGenuine Expedia guest review
"They can't help the location"
Venice Beach Suites is doing the best they can but the Venice boardwalk is sleazy! I read the other reviews thinking "I live in a downtown area. I'm not scared by a few homeless people" but I had no idea how bad Venice is. The hotel is right in the heart of homeless encampments and the drug trade.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
""Ruined birthday getaway""
The staff was welcoming and professional but the hotel had No parking lot the couches were dirty, the sheets were stained, the bath tub was stained and the floors were dusty and parts of the ceiling literally had dust bunnies! Gross.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Right on the beach"
Great for accessing the beach by day.. but it shuts down completely at sundown as nightlife moves inland and of course a few miles up the beach at Santa Monica. This makes for a quiet restful night too. Rooms are more like studio apartments with mini-kitchens and old-fashioned bath, so don't expect modern. For its age however it was a decent enough […] place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel itself was in a good location, right on the beach. However, there was no parking and we were pretty much told to fen for ourselves in that area. Also the front desk guy didnt start work until 9am so when we needed information prior no one was available. The room was fairly nice but the bed seemed rickety and the box spring still had the plastic […] on it and was showing. But overall the hotel fit our needs and was in a good location and moderately priced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is right on the boardwalk, on the beach--perfect location. Room was clean & cute with a lot of character. The beach itself is dumpy with lots of bums that hang around the front of hotel. Definitely way too expensive for an area with bums hanging around. If you want to be on the beach in middle of all the action, this is the hotel to stay at ! […] ! Accommodation was extremely well maintained, location was central on the boardwalk and within walking distance to Santa Monica. The neighbourhood seems daunting at first but don't be put off by first impressions - this is part of the Venice Beach experience. My 17 year old son and I stayed in a suite for three nights. The amenities were exactly as described on the website, and it’s a perfect location for experiencing Venice Beach! The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The downside to an old hotel, however, is the thin walls, which allowed us to hear our neighbors playing their guitars late into […] the night. The parking is tricky, but the hotel staff does provide you with a map of the area that denotes free residential parking overnight. Once we actually used the map, it was extremely helpful! I enjoyed everything about the hotel, had a great time and stay. Will come back again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This place is exactly what you need when staying in Venice. Central location, with great views of the ocean. I will most definitely be staying here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Steps from the Beach, clean but small"
It was great for what we had planned; strolling down the boardwalk at Venice Beach. The room was a little small for a couple and a small child, but worked for the short stay. This hotel has a lot of character, which we really loved. Would definitely book there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is NOT a kid friendly hotel or area. We stay here two or three times per year and love it. The staff is the big key for us; always accommodating. The area is very colorful during the day and it sits right on the Venice walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel with the homeless."
If you like being surrounded by homeless people, drug users, and beggers, then this is the hotel for you. It is on the beach, but i'd never stay there again. In the course of 24 hours i was asked about 10-12 times for money food or cigarets. I was advised NOT to go outside after 7:00pm. It may be this hip, cool place to hang out, but at age 53 those […] days are long past. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hard to find!"
Great vintage motel, just hard to find if you use GPS! Parking is nearly impossible, but worth the hassle if you want a true Venice Beach experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No place to park..."
I got a $78.00 parking ticket while unloading my luggage in the loading zone...there is no place to park, you worry about the safety of your car and the meters, road side cleaning rules, and the vagrants wondering around, yelling at night on the street...the place was very noisy, both inside and out. Really not worth the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the hotel hands down would go back. As other people have said the area is "cultured" but all of LA has homeless. They don't bother you and even if they say anything just keep it moving or a "No thank you" will suffice. As far as parking we didnt rent a car just took a cab there and the buses and trains for less than 2$. We stayed 3 days and […] would 100% go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"dont check in at night"
great location during the day.don't check in at night.the neighborhood is very scary after dark. you can't access the hotel with you belongings for fear of being mugged by the addicts all over the walk in front of the hotel. i had to take in only what i could put in a paper bag for fear of being accosted by the local riffraff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"In the Heart of it All!"
The best Venice Beach Experience! We were in the heart of it all. Felt like we were reliving our old hippie days!.The hotel is old but has been kept clean. The area is a bit noisy but its part of the experience. Can walk to restaurants and shopping. Rentals everywhere. Would definitely do it again!Genuine Expedia guest review

"felt relaxed here"
very nice stay, loved the non flashy beach....was relaxed & rejuvenated by awsome weather & helpful staff....no disturbance from the fancy outside world....down to earth people around, only few drunken homeless people were there ...but that was in the late night......rest,our stay was good.....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Okay but not okay"
the room was nice, semi-clean (had to remove the comforter, too grose), used the blanket from the closet. No parking, had to park 3 - blocks from the hotel. Every time we left, we lost our spot. The maintenance guy was rude and threatening, according to the office only showed up once in a while. He actually sat outside, on the ground selling sage. (very […] strange, i would no have let him in my room to fix a thing if something would have broke. But it was a room with a kitchen, shower and bed. "Invest in a bed in a bag"
First of all, I was really looking forward to the rooftop deck which has apparently been out of service for many years. That was a main selling point for me tostay there. Location is awesome and staff is very friendly. My room was kind of gross. The worst impression as the dirty and worn out comforter. A comforter is such a small expense And makes a […] huge difference. Then I saw some hairs on the floor. Creeped me out enough that I grabbed a sleeping bag from the car. "Small beachfront hotel close to everything"
Small, modest, yet historic hotel on beach in Venice. Was perfect for single occupancy with a tiny kitchen and half refrigerator. View of beach was lovely as well. Not the kind of room to luxuriate in, but location was perfect for me.Genuine Expedia guest review
great location at the beach walk, has some surfboards at no charge, cozy room with small kitchenette, the shower was not well cleaned.Genuine Expedia guest review
"walk out door of hotel and you are on venice beach"
Great location. Room was great other than the bed was too hard.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good hotel rough area"
Great hotel, tiny and old but clean. It's on the ocean walk which can be a bit rough at night...not very safe feeling especially since the staff is gone at 9pm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The window to Venice"
The staff was AMAZING! I have never had such friendly service from even a 5 star hotel and would definitely go back. The staff helped figure out where to park for free, gave great directions, and was good for a laugh. They have all kinds of beach equipment for the guests to use and you just walk out the back door into the beautiful, crazy Venice beach. "Awesome, as always!!"
Right on the Venice Walk. Not a kid friendly place as the rooms are small and the walk is not somewhere you want to take small children. The owner/management is awesome and always accommodating. "The Venice Beach Suites & Hotel"
What a charning place to stay! Loved the exposed brick walls in the room & the old-school, gate-style elevator. The mattress could have been a little more comfortable, but the romantic, cool, & hip feel of the hotel & location more than made up for it! We only stayed one night & we wished we had longer to stay! Until next time......Genuine Hotels.com guest review
