The Convent Hotel is located on one of the main streets in Amsterdam and within easy walking distance to the Centraal Train station and Dam Square-so public transportation is a snap. The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friently. The one complaint about the staff is that they do not seem very knowledgeable about typical tourist activities in Amsterdam and we didn't find a concierge staff member to help with some of our questions. Our booking through hotels.com did not include the breakfast, which looked wonderful and was expensive, so we found a lovely little care within a block or two from the hotel for our breakfasts. Lots of tours seem to use the hotel, so the staff is very comfortable speaking in English with everyone.The entrance to the hotel faces the very busy street, but the rooms are all in the back of the hotel and are very quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I would suggest trying to get the breakfast included in the hotel price.

The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.

All the major museums are practically next door. We had a 24 hr layover at Schiphol, so we decided to take advantage. For 4 euros each you can take a bus to the museum station which is only a short walk to the hotel. Great shopping and dining is close by. Trams and canal boats are also convenient. The room is small, but efficiently layed out. Very comfortable bedding and air conditioning.

Located in Hoofddorp, this hotel runs a free shuttle to Schiphol Airport, which is 2.6 km (1.6 miles) away. Central Amsterdam attractions, including the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, Dam Square, and Royal Palace, are about 14 km (8.6 mi) away.

"OK, if you want/need to be near airport"
I had a 22 hour layover, and I needed to get work done - in that respect, the hotel did what I needed of it. The only annoying thing is that the free wireless kept going out - I had to re-connect every 10 minutes for some reason. Shuttles to the airport start at 6AM - you can just make it if your flight leaves at 7 (I just managed).

A very nice hotel, high value for the price, with very good access to motorways. Best if you have a car, since you get free parking and it is 15 minutes drive to Amsterdam center and just next to the airport.

Room was so-so, but the bathroom and shower were nice. Neighborhood not so great. Shuttle was convenient. Close to McDonald's, but don't expect to get breakfast in the early AM -- not before 8. But you can have a Big Mac at 6 a.m.! with fries!! Can't use a credit card before 8. We probaby would not stay here again if there were a better hotel available […] with a shuttle. Read more

The hotel and rooms were clean. The room was small, but this was to be expected after reading countless reviews on various sites. The location worked for my fiance' and me as we took the hotel shuttle to the airport and then took the metro into various parts of the city. The hotel is conveniently located with a free shuttle to and from the airport. My room was good-sized and modern with free wifi access. The service, however, needs improvement. I called twice to have someone come up to take a look at my window because it would not close. The bathroom sink was stopped up never fixed. Messages were left at the desk but when I asked for them I was told there were none. Location was not convenient to airport. Shuttle service at night was poor - I waited over half an hour for the hotel shuttle to appear. Price of room was far too high for the poor service and room condition.

I picked this hotel b/c the price was right and it had a free airport shuttle. I arrived late in the evening and checking in was easy. The also scheduled the shuttle in the AM as well. I didn't eat at the restaurant but they have a breakfast for a cost. I'd recommend this place to others. Nothing special but clean and convenient.

"BW AMS Airport Hotel--a good choice for overnight"
We were looking for a cheaper alternative to the VanDerValk A4 Hotel where we usually stay. Shuttle from airport is now free both ways. It's fast (less than 10 minutes) with helpful, friendly drivers. Double room at the BW was less roomy (partially due to longer bed length) but very manageable. Furniture and carpet did not seem as old and appeared cleaner. […] Very clean bathroom. Beds were more comfortable--no sagging in the middle, not too hard and not too soft. Breakfast was !3.5 Euros per person in a clean, pleasant dining room. Though not as classy an atmosphere or extensive of a buffet as the VanDerValk, the BW breakfast buffet offers scrambled, fried, or hardboiled eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, etc., cold cereal, granola, a fruit mix, some fresh fruit, yogurt, a variety of fresh breads and toppings, whole grain crackers, juices, coffee, and tea. There is no breakfast menu from which to order, only the buffet. We found the variety adequate for a decent breakfast before the long day of flights ahead of us. Read more

I write as someone who is used to American hotels. As a Best Western, this airport hotel experience was very different than that of all other hotels with which I am familiar. Let me start by saying that the reception staff was the most hard working and passionate I have ever seen. This is said even though they are being asked to do the impossible. Let […] me explain: when I arrived in the evening they were checking guests ins and out while, at the same time, acting as bar tenders and restaurant staff. In the morning, they were checking guests in and out, while, at the same time acting as omelette preparers and breakfast staff. There were no evening housekeeping staff. When I got to my room I noticed that no soap or shampoo were there. I called the front desk and was told that they were out of soap and shampoo because management had forgotten to reorder these. However, 10 minutes later, there was a knock on my door and one of the front desk staff members brought me one piece of soap. So, my conclusion is that the staff is very hard working but that the management style is geared toward minimizing costs for the company rather than providing a quality experience for the guests. Pros - well known name, location to the airport and the free shuttle. Cons - The receptionist was far to business like, to the point of being rude. Didn't know whether or not the room had a hairdryer (it did). The bathroom did not have shampoo. We were initially placed in a smoking room in a hallway and room that smelled very strongly of smoke. We moved and had a decent room for our purpose---to be close to the airport and have a free shuttle. We wanted to use the sauna, but it didn't heat up properly and it didn't smell very good. "Great stay with easy access to town"
For those of you looking for a good bargain at a 3-star quality this is definitely worth considering. The room was wonderful, the staff was helpful (considering the Dutch blunt personality) and the shuttle to and from Schipol provided us with easy access to Amsterdam Central and all of the trains throughout Holland. "It was ok"
The negative about this hotel is the room stunk like urine I had to spray body mist all over to get rid of smell! The front desk lady was not that nice but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and maybe it was because of the language difference. And all u hear all nite long is planes going off! This hotel is good if you have one flight in the morning, and do not look at visiting and experiencing Amsterdam.. Expensive to get to Amsterdam, and since the shuttle ends at midnight, if you are experiencing Amsterdam, you are looking to pay 15 additional euros for a taxi ride. The Amsterdan Airport Hotel is close to the airport and the value for a nights stay was right on the money. Quick overnight stay, needed something close to the airport, the Best Western was fine... actually more amenities than I needed. Other than having a little trouble finding the shuttle stop (the Best Western wasn't listed among the hotels at the stop where I was told to wait, though the shuttle did show up near there)... all went well. "a bit cheap for the money"
The restaurant was good. The staff was helpful, the room large and comfortable, but some parts of the room were strangely "cheap' and indicate it is no longer very American at all. For example, it has the smallest bars of soap I have seen outside the third world. Why not just use the liquid soap dispensers so popular throughout Europe? The room includes […] a coffee-tea machine that heats water, but all the cups were very small and cheap plastic or paper cups. One is in perpetual danger of burning oneself or spilling it. I am not sure, but I think it had no English language news station like BBC or CNN. There are some programs in English with Dutch subtitles, but no news is a big minus. There was little to no info about the shuttle. (I arrived late) Somehow one showed up even though they said it was not running and saved me a 20 eur cab. When I checked in late, there were lots of low class people complaining because they did not understand why they could not sleep 5 people to a room. Pool was closed. Room was clean and quiet. The previous? […] person who stayed in my room ate the peanuts and taped the box shut.. in room coffee was terrible. Beds were OK, but I was exhausted. This was a very reasonably priced hotel but had a number of amenities that we appreciated for a long layover. The beds were comfortable, the room clean, the staff courteous, and the service prompt. We took the shuttle to and from the airport and it was a very easy affair.

This hotel has a purpose but if you are staying in Amsterdam for more than a day I would get something a little nicer. It is close to the Airport and about 20 minutes from downtown. The free parking is nice and it has a McDonalds next to it so that’s nice it you don’t want to pay for overpriced hotel food. Pool was not impressive nor was the fitness […] center. Did not offer a same bed for my wife and I so we had to push the beds together. Sheets had stains and the bed was not very comfortable. Hotel has a 4 star rating but it would be 3 at best in the states. Bottom lines: if you’re staying for one night then book it because it is one of the cheapest. If you are there to see the sights for a few days like we were then pay a few more dollars and get something nicer and closer to downtown. Read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I would have paid more money to stay at this hotel. The hotel was quiet, clean, and had a great location from the airport. "Best Western Hotel Airport, Amsterdam, Netherlands"
This nice hotel had one flaw. That was in the shuttle system getting from the airport to the hotel. We went to the designated pick-up point, and a shuttle bus showed up in about 10 minutes. A mob ran to where it parked, and 8 folks of that mob got into the shuttle. That left 15 - 20 folks still waiting. Shortly afterwards, another shuttle bus showed […] up, and again a mob descended upon the shuttle, with 8 folks again getting lucky. And more folks showed up all the time to get ot the hotel, as other flights landed. After three times of missing out on the shuttle, we hired a taxi to take us the 4 km to the hotel. It wasn't worth waiting any more. Other than that, the place was decent. But I won't stay there again. I will stay at the Sheraton, which is walking distance from the airport. Read more
My first disappointment was the area was very dirty with trash all in Mcdonalds parking lot. and then my first room, the bathroom lights didn't work. so i asked for another one which wasn't a problem with the service. but then that room also bathroom lights didn't work, so i kept it and didn't report it again.
