The convenience of the location is great. This hotel needs a major face lift though. The walls in the room are dingy and our bathroom might have been cleaned, but someone used the toilet and didn't flush before leaving. Not #1 I might add. if you are looking for the 5 star hotel, it is not. the room is small but very clean. Do not bother to rent a car. the hotel does not have enough spaces for the guests. less then 10 spots. We didn't need a car with all of the public transportation SF offers. The hotel "lobby" is VERY small. you can barely get 2 people with luggage in it. We had a nice stay at our hotel. However we could hear traffic day and night. And I think they "stuffed" too many furniture items into one room. It was hard to maneuver at times. We slept well and the maid never bothered us.

If you are a foodie and/or shopaholic you will love the location of this hotel. There are quite a few more hotels within walking distance to this one but the price was right which was why it won. We are glad we chose it, the Marina/Cow Hollow neighborhood is very safe, walk friendly, and offers a plethora of restaurants (italian, steakhouses, burgers, […] creperies, & diners) as well as cute little boutiques and movie theaters. The hotel itself is a little older but the rooms were very clean and spacious. The only complaints we had were that the tv was quite small (not a big deal since you're not there to watch tv) and the tub wouldn't finish draining until 20 minutes after the shower was over. We brought this to their attention and we were informed they would tell housekeeping but when we showered the next morning it still hadn't been fixed (again, not a big deal, just a comfort/cleanliness issue) In summary, I would recommend this hotel if you love to walk around and explore since it's by all that's mentioned above as well as the Presidio, and it's clean and quiet, where can you go wrong? This hotel is perfect if you need a place to stay that's in the the center of town. It's definitely noisy so I would recommend earplugs if you're a light sleeper. There isn't too much as far as parking, but we got in early enough to grab a parking spot and keep the car there without moving it the entire trip. Fortunately there are plenty of bus stops […] only a block or two away that took us to Golden Gate Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, North Beach and more. It was worth it to have a place that was centrally located and close enough to walk or take public transportation to everything that we wanted to see. Read more

Have stayed here several times. Very convenient to where I/we like to hang out. Chestnut Street has everything for a nice 1-2 day stay. Plus the hotel is very dependable and consistent. Has gotten nicer over the years.

This location was DIRTY! The bathroom was gross! We didn't use the shower at all while there over night. The bedding wasn't bad but still old and gross. The room was jam packed with furniture in the tiny room so much someone had to sit on the bed so the other could exit the room! I don't recommend this location at all. I stayed here with some of my friends. The owners (people in the front office) can be a little aggressive on how they approach people, but the room is good, the rates are better then super 8 (a block away). noise level is good (almost no noise)

I was surprised by how nice my room ended up being. I really enjoyed my stay here. I stayed for four nights and loved every minute of it. Check in was super easy, no hassle whatsoever. I didn't have a car so parking wasnt an issue for me. Great hotel overall!

visited during the Christmas through new year break. the parking space is not enough so I had to spend 15~20 min to find a free parking space around the residential area near by. otherwise, you have to pay for the street park start at 7am. about the pros, the breakfast is good with coffee, juice, bread, and muffin.

I needed a cheap place with free parking to stay. This met that requirement and nothing more. Easy walk to marina or up the hill (about a mile) to pacific heights bars restaurants. Probably not a great place to stay with children as it doesn't feel that safe. Overall about what I expected.

My boyfriend and I stayed a few days ago and were satisfied with our room. Yes, its not a 3 or 4 star hotel however I like the fact that they have upgraded the room with granite counter tops in the bath and always provide clean towels, sheets, blankets.
