Good location!
This hotel was nice, nothing spectacular or luxurious. But it was clean and comfortable and in a great location for a great price! Can't beat that!

Ehhhhhh
I believe they are trying, half the floors were under renovation so appears they are trying to upgrade. No free breakfast was a downer, they wanted 10GBP for breakfast. Location was 5 minutes walk from the tube. 1 minute from park. Neighborhood was average. No A/C so sleep with windows open and had some road noise.

Ask for a room- get a sauna instead.
Clueless people at the front desk Was given a room with known heating problems, looked like a sauna, and took me half an hour of negotiations to get a normal one. Should have been anticipated or at least I should have been warned before entering the room and finding out overheated room with 2 big fans and window left open.... This is ridiculous. After half an hour management decided to help but overall bad experience.

Good price for Central London
this was my second time staying at the Central Park Hotel. One pleasant change, was that FREE Wi-Fi is now available in the rooms as well as the lobby. Prior, it was free ONLY in the lobby, and a charge of £14.50, per 24hour period, in the rooms. There is still some ongoing (though, unseen) construction work going on in the rooms. Everyday I was there, I heard jackhammering, pounding, and sawing, coming from another of the rooms on the same floor (or one up, or down). Not really an inconvenience, merely an annoyance. And, it was only during daylight hours. The previous time I stayed there, almost exactly 1 year earlier, the same thing occurred. Two streets over in Queensway, there are two different Tube stations: Queensway, for the Central Line, and Bayswater, for the District and Circle Lines. Queensway also has MUCH late night, ethnic dining possibilities (Lebanese, Persian, Turkish, Italian, Russian, Chinese-Hong Kong, Chinese-Shanghainese, Chinese-Szechuan, Chinese-Cantonese, and several Thai), as well as a McDonald's and Burger King, for the less adventurous. There are also ample places for groceries: a Tesco express and a (24-hour) Sainsbury's. The bath is spotlessly clean, slate-floored and tile-walled. The shower has an overhead rain-shower head. It is glass enclosed, but, quite tiny (24"x24"). The basin is also quite small, and the overhead lighting puts one side of your face in shadow when looking into the mirror to shave.
