TRAVEL INN LODGE - Philipsburg

I really like the hotel, very similar in style to Amsterdam hotels, modern and clean. Located in Philipsburg. Service was great, very helpful at the front desk and were eager to help with directions or change for a bus or cab. Lots and lots of shopping along Front street where hotel was located, and a beautiful view of ocean and bar/restaurant at the back of hotel. Lots of action along the boardwalk. but some days, way too many people shopping. I was able to walk from the front of hotel straight through, past a cool bar, right out onto the beach. They did put me in a corner room with a very small balcony, but the price was good. It was noisy from the street but things settled down after about 7pm. A few good restaurants nearby, but the best ones were in Grand Case, a 30 min cab drive away.

Another wonderful stay at our most favorite island. There is a reason they call St. Maartin 'The Friendly Island'! We so enjoyed our stay at The Great Bay Hotel and Casino. We have been coming to the island for over 10 years..and our visit would only be complete by staying at The Sonesta Great Bay. The staff is exceptional. The location is perfect to enjoy the ocean blue, visit Philipsburg, eat at local restaurants, or at the hotel, You can do day trips to other wonderful places on the island. Great place and great people! We consider St. Maartin our home away from home!

Restaurants within walking distance and all were great. We drove to Spiga one night but next year will not bother. Also went to L'astolab whichwas great.Geraldine & Arneau at Alamanda were both very professional & helpful. Continental breakfast was wonderful.

i don't think this is really a four star hotel. maybe a 3. this is NOT BEACH FRONT and it is kind of hard to get to from everything. its modern, nice... but not what a four star should really be.
