"Good get away hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
This is a nice hotel. The rooms are a bit cramped. The restaurant is fantastic. There is no room service however which is surprising considering they have the restaurant.

We were staying at the Hotel de Glace just down the road; so the hotel offered a closeby location where we could come in a day early and relax. It was near the main street of the town that offered many dining options. We had breakfast in the hotel dining room, which was very good.

Very good hotel, clean, comfortable, friendly staff and close to everything in walking distance! Bar, Starbuck café, old Quebec in a minute walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"For business, not pleasure"
The hotel in itself is really clean and is well located. It is great for business since Parliament, restaurants and bars are real close by. Rooms on the other hand are something else. My room was as big as my queen size bed... And i' m not kidding. The washroom was 7' by 6'6" and as old as the hotel... The bed was comfortable and the sheets smeld clean. […] There was a big screen TV of 24" connected to an extension cord lying on the floor. Not that great if you want to entertain. "Great Location in Quebec city"
Best location, walking distance to tons of activities, restaurants, shopping, sight seeing.. During Quebec city Carnival no other places can beat Chateau LaurierGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic Hotel!!!"
The good: Amazing location just a 2 minute walk from the Old City gates. Tons of excellent quality restaurants of all price ranges just around the corner. Some rooms have great views of the river and old Quebec. Our suite that we upgraded to on the second night was fantastic - huge jacuzzi tub with glass doors that opened up into the room that had a […] fireplace beside windows overlooking the city. Very clean and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Definitely worth paying extra money for the upgraded rooms. The bad: Out first night of 4 was spent in a regular priced standard room that was quite small with nothing fancy about it at all. Still very clean but the bed was a bit hard. Again... Worth upgrading! That's it for the bad. The location is splendid. We spent NYE there and there was a massive outdoor party with two free concerts on either side of the hotel. Great fireworks, with thousands of people in attendance. Lots of fun and highly recommended!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

stayed here for 5 days, the room was too small and the bed was a bit uncomfortable. "Smallest Room Ever"
The hotel is a quality hotel and very well located. The staff are cordial and helpful. The problem with this stay was that the room was a closet sized disappointment which took away from the visit to the city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location"
All and all, it was a good hotel at a decent price for the location. Close to everything one needs when wanting to walk to all the great places to visit in old Québec city. My only concern was the cleanliness of the comforters and sheets as there were questionable spots everywhere.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Chateau Laurier"
We would have liked our garbage emptied every day. Our door was left open all day by the maid and the pictures viewed on the Internet of the room did not match the room we received. On a positive note, the hotel is centrally located and walking distance to all the attractions in beautiful Vieux Québec.Genuine Expedia guest review

I would not rate the room I had (283) as a four start room. Take away the size of the room, the wallpaper seams show that it is time for an upgrade. More electrical outlets would have been great - very difficult to reach and did not make sense with the layout of furniture. I had to rearrange the plugs by the TV to plug in my cell phone and move the […] bed in order to plug in a heating pad. Also, the remote for the TV is awkward to use when in bed because the sensor to change the channels is too low on the TV stand. My stay was very pleasant - it just comes down to the little "extras" that make a trip away from home more comfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Carnival"
The proximity to Carnival was unmatched and it made taking 2 young children extremely easy. We could come and go allowing us to spend the most amount of time enjoying Carnival, the snow and cold without worrying that we still a long trip back to the warmth and comfort of a hotel room.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel Chateau Laurier Quebec - not worth the money"
This hotel is a combination of old and new buildings. For the same money, the rooms are of unequal size, and a night for a basic, one-queen-size-bed room is not worth the high price paid for it. Very expensive parking. No hot water for the shower with freezing cold water, tube TV sets using 1980s remote box technology, with a 12 x 13 room. We were […] hearing music from the conference areas 4 floors above ground level as if we were there. Lots of police, EMS, and fire sirens during the night. Friendly staff, safe area, easy access to historic Old Quebec City (over 400 years old) and museums. The 3 1/2 star rating for this hotel is not warranted, at best a 2 star hotel. Equal or better hotels for half the price at the entrance of QC a few kilometers away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect location"
Located right outside the wall of Old Quebec, so you are as close as possible without actually having to stay right in Old Quebec. It is at the end of a street filled with restaurants. Right behind the hotel is Battlefield Park. Horse carriage rides go right past the hotel. The pool is nice and there are two outdoor hot tubs. The only drawback is that […] the room is small, but that is to be expected in that area. Would definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very close to Old Quebec"
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Chateau Laurier. It was close to restaurants and just a three minute walk to the Old Quebec gates. The room was spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the outdoor hot tubs. Old Quebec City has a very romantic feel to it, and your trip won't be complete until you go on a horse-drawn carriage ride through Old Quebec […] city. "A perfect visit to old Quebec!"
This is a lovely hotel! Our family was thrilled with the quality for the price. The lobby is elegant and spacious, the rooms are fresh and well appointed, and the outdoor hot tubs are a special treat! The location is terrific for sightseeing - old Quebec starts a few blocks away: you are right beside the Parliament Buildings, the Plains of Abraham and […] the upper gate to the old city. We parked our car and toured on foot. We were tired after two days and the room was so comfortable for a relaxing family movie! The Hotel Chateau Laurier is a perfect blend of old and new: you feel like you are staying at a historical location but everything is clean and modern. A whole block of restaurants are right around the corner - very convenient and not all "chain" restaurants. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This is a wonderful location when you want to walk to the best Old Quebec has to offer. Unfortunately, my room was very small... as was the bed for two people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Specify your room, otherwise prepare for unhappy surprise"
First the good news. Considering location, friendliness of staff, quality of food, and over all value for money, this hotel is an excellent choice for a visitor to Quebec city. WARNING: If we ever go back, we will certainly ask for a room facing the inner courtyard or the street in front, George V West. We got a room on the 2nd floor (the hotel has […] only 4 floors) facing a busy main road, Grande Allee. The people noise from bars kept us awake at night. So much for a good rest that we all hope after a busy day of sightseeing! Another minor point (major for my wife) is their failure to clean the room one day, out of the 3 days we stayed. When I reported it to the Front Desk staff, the young lady calmly said:"we had a very busy day at the hotel", without even apologizing or offering to compensate, ( a free breakfast or something) ! Trusting a property for its brand reputation alone is not sufficient, as we learned the hard way. My wife is adamant she will never go back to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Romance in Quebec City"
Loved Chateau Lauier - easy walk to everything. St Hubert on-site is great for breakfast or quick meal after day of touring. Great choice of sidewalk cafes. Hotel staff are great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would definitely go back"
Excellent location within walking distance to most attractions. Loved the pool and hot tub, room was comfortable and clean. They have a restaurant in the hotel (St Hubert) which came in handy in a thunderstorm. Service was polite and competent. I would definitely go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location"
Great location, right next to a strip of outdoor patios. Short walk to the Downtown strip and to the Old part of the city. Long walk to get Ice because the two Ice machines were located on the ground floor.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Greats location but very small rooms"
Great location and things to do. The service wasn't great at the front desk and had to wait for service for quite awhile and also and to make requests several times. The room given for 4 people was too small and since I requested for a cot before hand I didn't appreciate waiting for a long time as well as the size of the room when others were available […] that were more comfortable in size. Requests were ignored. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"clean, nice, friendly staff and excellent location."
Make sure that you upgrade to the new wing which is recently added to the hotel. The restaurant attached to the hotel is overpriced and offers medium quality food. There are nice pastry shops on St. Jean street.Genuine Expedia guest review
"comfortable and convenient"
Rates were reasonable and despite music festival going on right outside the hotel, we did not hear it in our room. Pool was nice and well maintained. Parking costs were additional. Lots of restaurants nearby (including a Starbucks). Walking distance to many of the city's main attractions. Would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Chateau Laurier"
This was a bad experience for the price I paid! I had to take 2 different elevators at different ends of the hotel to get to my room. It took 40 mins to find my hotel reservation and I had my conformation and all with me. The room is very ugly, the I could not even fit in the washroom how tight it was! I do not suggest this hotel unless you get a […] suite. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
