As a single woman traveling alone, I felt very safe at this hotel - key card on outside of building so you couldn't just walk up to a room as you can with most motels. Very secure. Very clean and well maintained. I will definitely go back!

the bed was not at all comfortable, the beds had bedspreads on them, i do not like to see bedspreads on hotel beds because they do not get cleaned.the hotel is an older hotel and most of the hotel was updated, but it looks like they forgot to update the beds with new matresses

The hotel is located in a nice, quiet area. The outside area is well lit. The guest clerk was very helpful and curteous. The hotel was clean and the AC was on in my room when I checked in - very nice to have with the Texas heat in August. The room had everything I needed. The location was convenient to the highway and Sam Houston State University, the front desk proactively offered the wifi pass code and the room was fresh and clean. Given the low price, I was concerned about what I would find, but the entire stay was nice and the continental breakfast was a welcome surprise.

I asked for early check-in due to an early event I had the day I arrived. The lady at the front counter did not care that I wad ready to check in. I told her about my situation. She couldn't care less. The hotel did look ful and I am positive there was a room. She said check-in was at 2 pm, but that I can try at 1 pm. (Like that was going to help). […] In addition to this, I asked for late check-out. She then rolled her eyes and said check-out is at 11 am, then asked what time I was suggesting. I asked for noon. She then said NO, and that 11:45 am will do. (Like 15 minutes made a difference to her) I will never stay here again. Overall, poor experience. Read more

the air conditioner did not work and I was up and down all night turning the fan on because it was frozen. I had made arrangements for my friend to be able to stay in the room for a bit longer while i was gone and had explained that she had just had surgery for a torn retina. I would have liked to have had a room a little closer to the outside door but after hearing if slam over and over and over again all day and all night (no way were we getting any sleep) I was glad to be in the middle of the hallway. The lady at the front desk was really nice when we showed up a little too early to check in and we were able to get our […] room before the usual check in time. The room was just fine. Plenty of space, nice tv, bed was comfy. The tub was really small and the toilet seat was broken but we managed. I liked that it was set back from the highway so we didn't get a lot of highway noise. Also, we had a nice little drive through the neighborhood and got right to the "downtown" with no problems. If we go back to Huntsville any time soon we will probably stay here again....but don't expect to do laps or anything in the pool...it was more of an oversized bathtub than a "swimming" pool. It is 3ft deep all the way around - perfect for little ones who just want to splash and play! Didn't wake up in time for breakfast - they stopped serving at 9am. All in all not such a bad stay. I thought the price I paid was a little high but was surprised that there was some extra space in the room with a couch and table. That was great so I could get ready in the a.m. while my boyfriend continued to sleep. I also think the a.m. "breakfast" was lacking, but no big deal. The hotel was clean and comfy - 2 biggies.

Exactly what I expected for Super 8. Clean, comfortable room, good value, acceptable service. Not a lot of frills, but we only needed a bed and bath for the night. We opted out of the scant breakfast (lots of other options, like IHOP, nearby). Would stay again.

All the other reviews about stiff/very firm beds are true. I double folded the blanket to use as a buffer between the bed and me. Breakfast quality and variety was below average. All that said, the room was attractively priced and I would stay there again
