Montreal was 15 below zero during our stay at the Gault. We were always so happy to return to the comfortable warmth and cozy ambience of hotel housed in that beautiful old facade .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Gault, Montreal"
Very pleasant stay, made so by a terrific staff, very helpful and friendly, good food, and a comfortable room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful Staff, Exceptional Service"
This is one of the most pleasurable hotels I have ever stayed in, and by far my favorite in Montreal. The hotel is chic and the rooms are wonderful, but it is the staff that push the hotel over the top. I have never gotten this kind of service in 5 star hotels. Andre is the best concierge ever.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Boutique Hotel w/ Excellent Location"
The location in the Old City is creat - walking distance to everything there including excellet restos and 10-15 min walk to shopping @ St Catherine St. This is a hotel for those who don't require a ton of hand-holding by staff, but the staff is extremely accomodating. If you want the Ritz, go there, but hving stayed at all of the city's high-end hotels, […] we really enjoyed the change. The room was very spacious as was the bath. Try it, you'll like it. "Very nice but not for business travelers"
Minimalist-chic luxury hotel in the old city, near the convention center and a short walk from both the downtown business district and Old Montreal attractions. Rooms are set up as lofts. Service is impeccable and furnishings are top-class. However, I wouldn't recommend the Gault for business travel. Lighting is spare, meaning that rooms are dark after […] sundown. Rooms don't have desks, coffee makers, irons & ironing boards, etc. Wi-fi is free but (at least when I was there) flaky. The gym in the basement is very small, with only one treadmill, one elliptical trainer, and freeweights. I'd be happy to stay there if I vacationed in Montreal, but next business trip, I will go elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, great location"
The Hotel Gault lived up to all the reviews I had read in guidebooks and online. Amazing modern design in an old building, very close to the Square Victoria metro stop, and super friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Warm, stylish and classy"
The only downside to this hotel is struggling with suitcases up the front steps. Not a great beginning. Everything else is terrific. The Gault has one of the very few reception areas where you would want to linger, and the whole place is furnished with great taste - minimalist but warm and very comfortable. Service was excellent, and the loft room on […] the 5th floor was very well designed and laid out. I enjoyed the high counter and stools in my room and was very impressed overall. Few facilities, but if you want a very stylish and comfortable room in an excelelnt central location, backed up by highly attentive and thoughtful service - this is the spot. "Beautiful Hotel, Awesome Service"
This is a very chic, trendy hotel. So often, places like that feel a bit "snooty." On the contrary, the staff at the Gault were extremely friendly and helpful. We were blown away by the entire experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel was clean and attractive. However, the staff was verging on rude.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"This is THE place to stay in Montreal!"
OK...I know, you're reading reviews and trying to figure which place is best. Stop...you've found it. The hotel is beautiful and the location is great. We stayed in the Corner Loft room. The ceiling was very high and the room was like a studio apartment size. It was beautiful! Just like the rest of the hotel it had "artsy "decor and felt like we were […] staying somewhere special. It is located on the edge of Old Town and downtown, so we felt the location couldn't be better. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful. You can use your credit card for nearly everything on your trip, but please exchange enough money so that you will be able to tip them well at the end of the trip. You will probably have about 6 people that you will encounter that will make your stay perfect. They treat you like family. Be sure to ask the concierge for restaurant recommendations. They are experts and know all of the places you should go. When we return to Montreal, we won't consider staying anywhere else. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Another really nice Montreal hotel in a totally renovated classic period building. The Eggs Benedict with house made Gravolax was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
definitely recommend this hotel . staff is very classy, discreet and helpfull, our room was great, a lot of nice restaurants close by (street saint paul) and very easy to move around. at first we thought not too many tv channels but you do not go to montreal to watch tv (and by the way i am not sure we knew how to use properly the remote control) our […] only regret : we miss our first night because of a messy connection (never connect at chicago airport, we spend 2 hours in migration lines and 30 min in security, miss our connecting flight and had to stay in a lousy hotel at chicago airport) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"simple, elegant, modern"
"less is more" comes to mind describing The Gault, located in a very secluded location in old port, the building has been kept in pristine condition; the staff its very friendly, the menu very balanced and the rooms amazing. Its decor its minimalist and taken to the extreme in detail and presentation; every night the room temperature its just perfect […] (very important in Canada), clean to the max, and Classical music on in the sound system of the room. The Wifi works great in every point of the hotel, and toiletries are very nice Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I enjoyed my stay at the Gault. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Our room was spacious and comfortable but since it was a loft with concrete floors (slippers are key) so it is not actually that cozy. I'm a fan of the modern design of the hotel but it may have taken it a little far by sacrifcing some comfort. The shower is party of the room […] - and bathroom is a little sliding door that separates it from the rest of the room so not much privacy... Anyway, I really did enjoy my stay and would highly recommend it but would personally probably try out a different hotel next time I'm in Montreal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The greeting was great at the reception. The location is pefect. It just within 10-15 mins walking distance to most attactions, such as train station, Vieux-Port (old port), Basilique Notre-Dame. The only cons is we need to climb six deep stairs everytime when we back to the hotel. May be we are still young and they do not need to show us the way for […] elderly. "Break Out of the Mold"
I took advantage of a special non-refundable discount offer to stay in this hotel, which normally would have been a bit out of my financial comfort range, and it was (as I wanted it to be) a big treat. I was always made to feel welcome by the faultless staff. They flattered me by pretending my French was excellent (which it is not), but unhesitatingly […] switched to English if I was too tired to make the effort after a long day. Only complaint was the sporadic Internet connection in the room which, though free, should have worked more reliably. But still highly recommended. Would also have been wonderful for a romantic retreat, but alas, I was there on business. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quality service, was surprised by hidden charges"
I was in Montreal for a conference at the Palais des Congres de Montreal, so this hotel was very conveniently located in the Old Port section. Our concierges really went above and beyond in terms of recommending nearby restaurants that would be suitable for us. For example, one of the nights we were there our concierge helped us plan a dinner for 12 […] colleagues, including making and confirming the reservations, for which we were very grateful. Although we were informed that there would be an additional charge per night for an extra guest in the room, we were not prepared for the cot charge + the extra guest charge, which worked out to be incredibly expensive. Regardless, I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Montreal. Note that the decor is very modern, which we found comfortable (loved the heated floors in the bathroom!) but may not appeal to everyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stylish and friendly"
I was very impressed by the Gault. The design is sleek and stylish, and it looks at least as good in reality as it does in the photos, but it has none of the chilliness and attitude you sometimes find in hotels that have made a point of design. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. I was […] in Montreal very briefly and on business, but I had a sense that it would be a great place to stay if you were traveling for pleasure: the concierge and the people on the desk are very keen to offer suggestions for restaurants, etc. The breakfast and room service are good, and, generally, all the details are very carefully thought through. I'd definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel with an incredible staff"
I stayed with my girlfriend (who became my fiancee during our trip!) at the Hotel Gault and loved how the exterior was very old and European and the interior was very modern and slick. Andre the concierge was incredible. First he upgraded our room from a basic inexpensive one to one of the best rooms in the hotel (on the 5th floor) for no reason at […] all. It was amazing. As Andre helped us move in, he told us the history of the area and the hotel, down to the smallest piece of furniture. It was really fascinating! We went to dinner at the nearby Restaurant Garde Manger run by celebrity chef Chuck Hughes (Food Network / Cook Channel's "Chuck's Day Off") which is why we were in Montreal to begin with. I told him I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend at dinner and when we came back he surprised us with a complementary quarter bottle of champagne and two glasses. So great! Any time we wanted a coffee, they were happy to make some for us behind the front desk and everyone we dealt with was so kind and thoughtful. I really can't say enough good things about the Hotel Gault and I can't wait to come back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel Gault is a superb example of "adaptive architectural re-use." The 19th century exterior is a French Baroque limestone confection, and the 21st century interior is minimalist modernism at its best. Our room was a penthouse with a wrap-around, snow-cover terrace and a southern exposure. If your idea of luxury does not include heated polished […] concrete floors, look elsewhere. But for me, being perched on the rooftops of Old Montreal is a fine way to experience the fierce Canadian winter! Bravo! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The staff was extremely friendly, rooms were great, location was convenient for Old Montreal. We would stay here again for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very good location in a quiet but central area of Old Montreal. The rooms are very clean and well equipped but guests do not always use the slippers provided by the hotel - loud heels on concrete disturbs your sleep. The staff is pleasant. Very impressed by the Gault...friendly staff, stylish design, rooms are expansive and comfortable. Breakfast is very nice too, if a little expensive. There are some nice touches, like biscuits in your room when you arrive being asked if you would like a water upon check out. I would definitely return. "love the Gault Hotel in Montreal"
I travel extensively and would give the Gault and it's staff a superb rating for their warmth, kindness and knowledge of the area and city. The room was very spare, but very comfortable. Loved the walk-in shower. If you're looking for a long tub soak, don't look here.Genuine Expedia guest review
We decided to take a weekend away to enjoy old Montreal. I feel like we scored on the location and unique loft style room. The room could have been warmer in style terms (however was a loft). The service was impeccable! Yannic the consierge had maps, cans, and reso's before we could ask. He showed up out of nowhere just when he was needed - really quite […] impressive. The small gestures of bottled water in our car and personalized letters from the hotel really went a long way. Well worth the money spent. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful and the hotel itself had everything you could ask for. I would stay here again in a secondGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent room, service in the bar for light dinner and location was very close to Victoria Square. There is construction of a building close by that results in noise in the morning and the room had no desk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Extremely friendly staff. Check in/out was very simple and professional. I was given an upgrade to a corner room which was large, airy and bright. Room service magnificent. "Hotel Gault - boutique hotel in old Montreal"
very nice boutique hotel - professional staff, great room, beautiful part of the cityGenuine Expedia guest review
Excellent staff. Huge rooms that are a ergonomic disaster. Examples: A single, uncomfortable lounge chair instead of a loveseat/sofa and chair combination, which could easily fit into such a large space. So, where does a couple sit if they don't want to use the bed? And when ordering room service? The expansive floors call out for area carpets not carpet-tile […] over cement subfloor. One phone by bedside, but no desk phone! No info on hotel or the city in the room, just a single page of room service items but no alcohol list. Tiny garbage can in the WC instead of the bathroom. It is these small inconveniences that will prevent me from returning, the attentive, patient staff and quaint Old Montreal location notwithstanding. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Very nice hotel. Very spacious room with a modern feel and the hotel is in a great location. The hotel is beautiful. We loved the room and the location and also the staff. They were very friendly, helpfull and had a refined class about them but not pretentious.
