"Met all expectations for a Paris hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Traveling with two little kids (5 & 1), we had the junior suite. It was very clean and spacious (paris hotels are notorious for small rooms). Staff were very accomodating, friendly and helpful. Location is great with the RER and metro right outside doorsteps. Starbucks just outside, two malls within blocks and a good shopping area while most major sites are within 30 minute walking. Reccomend.

"Good deal for the price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The room was a little small but had twin beds, desk, chair, closet, and luggage stand. The windows opened and there was a fan available in the room if needed. Good cafes in the neighborhood. Metro station very close. We would use this hotel again.
"Five star experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
This was our second stay at Hotel de Vendome and it topped the excellent experience that we enjoyed in November 2010. We were upgraded to a corner deluxe suite for an anniversary trip and welcomed with red rose petals in the room. Every detail of the hotel is first class with a very warm and friendly staff. Breakfast in the room every morning was a luxury followed by a walk in the Tuileries just a block from the hotel. If you're looking for the ultimate elegant boutique Parisian hotel, then you'll find it here. We'll be coming back to this one again. Bon voyage.

Good service and a decent area, very convinent location with a market of all food and goods! 2 mins walk from metro! Just a little far from center paris! Good service and polite reception!

One of Paris’s best-loved areas, the bohemian hilltop village of Montmartre offers winding streets, portrait artists on Place du Tertre, the wedding-cake basilica of Sacré-Coeur and extensive city views. Cafés and late-night cabarets add to the romance. The multicultural Goutte d’Or neighbourhood around Barbès-Rochechouart Métro has street markets and ethnic shops. St-Ouen flea market is a popular weekend attraction.

I really liked this hotel, and I would stay there again. It is in an interesting neighborhood, with some interesting shops (where I didn't buy anything) and some fine restaurants (where my husband and I ate several very good dinners). Our room was very clean, very comfortable; the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was fine, the art […] on the walls was charming. What more can I say? Read more
"nice area, average hotel"
Overall, I had an ok stay here. My complaints are the bathrooms are entirely to small. It was very differcult to stand at sink to brush teeth or wash face. The beds are also really tiny. However, the hotel itself is pretty clean and located in a great area. You can walk to Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur. One of the daytime front desk clerks could also […] use an attitude adjustment. "Hotel Des Arts Paris Montmartre - very noisy"
Overall the hotel was very nice. However do not stay in any of the front rooms that overlook the street. At night the street is very noisy from people, cars and the bar across the street. Unless you can secure a room in the back, don't stay here.

"Definitely would return"
Needed a reasonably priced hotel in montmartre. This was it. Very clean, sufficiently spacious, gracious staff, good breakfast and a five minute walk to Sacre Coeur. Would not recommend staying during the height of summer as their is no a/c, however, we were there in late september and the room on the third floor not on the street was breezy and the […] evenings cool and lovely. "Good value - Clean hotel - Friendly staff"
We stayed for two nights and had the fastest check-in and check-out that I ever had. No hassles. The room was small (expected) but very clean. The furniture, bedding and fixtures were newer (not old and worn). The bed was softer than we like (we like the harder beds often found in Europe). No view to speak of, but none was expected. We stayed at the […] end of August and it wasn't hot, but....if it would be hot there was no control for the a/c, only controls for the heat radiators. Breakfast was simple (included in our price) and consisted of bread, rolls, cereal, coffee, juice, yogurt, fruit cocktail, some cheese slices and hard-boiled eggs. Great for us, maybe not for others. Breakfast room was small and could become crowded but not a problem for us. Free Wi-Fi available was a great plus for us. All-in-all, I would stay at this hotel again for exactly what I described, a clean comfortable room with a breakfast in a cozy neighborhood close to the metro at a good price. Read more
"Hotel DES Arts Monmartre"
Loved this hotel- everything was exceptional- staff, location, decor, breakfast. My only complaint was the temperature of the room could not ne controlled and was often stuffy. We found ourselves staying up later since we had to open the windows to cool down. But overall the staff was helpful and patient and spoke excellent English! I will definitely […] book again! "Not great for the price"
It's OK, but not better than OK. Room is small, dowdy. Bathroom is old. Breakfast is spartan. Again, no huge problems, just not a very good deal for the price (which was in the high one seventies dollars).
"Hotel des Arts-perfect location in Monmartre"
The hotel was the perfect location on a little cobblestone street in the middle of Monmartre. It was walking distance to all the sights in the Monmartre district and an easy walk to the metro. The staff was very helpful. My one big criticism is that there are 6 floors but the lift only goes to the 5th floor. They do not say anything about this on their […] website nor do any of the guide books or travel websites. Omitting this information is a huge ovesight. I have a bad hip and am having hip replacement surgery in July. I was given a room on the 6th floor. I asked if there was a lift and the desk clerk said yes but did not mention that it didn't go to the 6th floor. After I discovered that I would have to negotiate a narrow curving staircase to the 6th floor, I went back to the desk and was told the hotel was full and they couldn't change me. The clerk did bring my suitcase up to my room. They were able to change my room the next day. If i had known, I could have requested a room on one of the first 5 floors. It's a cute hotel but you need to know if there's a lift to all floors. Read more
"A lovely hotel"
I had a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel Des Arts. I chose it based on its Montmartre location. It was very easy to get to by metro and as a solo female traveler I felt safe walking around the area at night. The room was actually a bit larger than I expected based on other reviews, and I loved the decor. Breakfast was delicious and there was a good […] selection to choose from. When items ran out they were quickly replenished. What made my stay most comfortable was definitely the staff. The two staff members I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again. P.S.- I noticed a previous reviewer mentioned the high cost of a taxi. In Paris, if a taxi is called to provide service the driver charges for the journey he makes to pick you up. This is not something the hotel would have any control over. Read more
"beware of taxi!"
I asked the hotel to book a taxi to take me to the train station. The meter started at 15 euros! And ended up costing me 40 euros. Ridiculous! My friend took the airport shuttle and the hotel asked her to pay the hotel 7 euros as a service fee and then 21 euros to the shuttle driver. For a four-star hotel, these services should be part of the price […] we paid to stay there. I was very annoyed about these extra fees. The breakfast was wonderful, however, as well as the staff were friendly. Read more
"Excellent and affordable!"
This was a wonderful place to stay in the area. The cost was very reasonable and the hotel was wonderful. The breakfast was yummy and more than enough! The rooms were european~small, but more than comfortable. Give this place a shot- plus its a short 5 min walk from the metro!
"Comfortable Place, Warm Hospitality"
We stayed at the Hotel Des Arts for 3 nights and used it for our home base for sight seeing throughout Paris. It is in a good location in Montmartre, steps away from great shops, Restaurants, Sacre Cour, and a few blocks away from the metro. If you are looking for an unpretensious hotel with charm that won't break the bank, this is for you. It is a […] small, compact hotel, with a nice sitting room off the lobby. The rooms are quite small, but fairly nicely appointed with wall mounted plasma TV's. The double bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet. (1st floor) The bathroom was adequate, but definitely only a one person at a time size, and did not have an electrical outlet that we could find. Large people may not be comforable in that bathroom. What really makes this place exceptional is the staff. They were all helpful, approachable, and readily available. When we came in from a day's adventure, we got a warm greeting which made this place very welcoming and comfortable. For example, as we were checking out, we realized we had locked our luggage key in our luggage and were anxious to leave for our next destination. A very nice young lady at the front desk asked her colleagues if they could help, and within minutes, a lady from the food service area came up and used a letter openner or knife to flip the locks for us with a big smile. Needless to say, we were extremely relieved and very glad to have chosen Hotel des Arts for part of our stay in Paris. Oh, and the breakfast is great too! Read more
"Hotel Des Arts Paris France"
Great little hotel! Everything was very cute & clean. Breakfast every morning was fabulous and we filled up on various pastries (the croissants were to die for!), yogurt, cheese, hard boiled eggs, coffee & juice. The only disappointment was the helpfulness of the staff. We had a few different questions that they just responded "I don't know" or "Maybe […] this or that". No one ever offered to try to get a definite answer for us. Other than that we loved it & had an amazing time. The Montmarte district may be a little "less formal" than some but we liked that & felt very comfortable wandering the streets. Read more
"Hotel Des Arts"
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Des Arts overall. While my room was on the smaller side, it wasn't really a big issue for a solo traveler-besides, that's what I signed up for. There were larger rooms available. The only disappointment I had with the hotel was the lack of internet in the rooms themselves (wired or wireless). I tend to rely quite […] a bit on having an internet connection for my travel research and planning and communication, and not having easy access was a bit frustrating. There is a shared Mac in the lobby for guests to use, but I didn't want to tie it up for other guests and also I'm wary of doing anything personal on a shared computer. Read more

"A gem in a great neighborhood"
Hotel Des Arts was the perfect spot for our honeymoon - the neighborhood of Montmarte seemed to be full of the best Paris has to offer: great brasseries and cafes, cute shops, easy proximity to the Metro to get around, and real, authentic Parisians going about their daily lives. The hotel itself was great - the room decor was both tasteful and comfortable […] with big windows that peek out at the neighborhood below, the breakfast (ours was included with the rate) was simple but satisfying (croissants, baguettes with butter, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and granola), and the staff and service were friendly and helpful. My complaints? The shower, as others have mentioned, really lent itself more to a bath than actual showering, but we worked with it! And in the mornings the noise got to be a bit much with people going down the stairs to breakfast or walking around on floors above us. No big deal. All in all, I'd l definitely stay here again (if I'm so lucky) and will recommend to friends and family going to Paris! Read more
"Very Parisian but when it is hot, it is HOT!"
The hotel was very Parisian to me. It was on a little side street, small entrance, very cute/nice inside. Our only problem was the temperature, it was 90F the week we were in Paris and the hotel had no a/c or fans. We had to buy a fan at a local shop to survive, but I think it was oddly hot. The location was very nice, right below Sacré-Cœur and a block […] from the metro. Good restaurants within a stone's through. Try the Little Parisian, about 3 doors up the hill on the opposite side of the street, it is a perfect little dinner spot. Read more
"Loved the hotel and the neighborhood!"
Couple of odd things ... No tissues, only one garbage can, no drinking or eating in the room, no pen or paper and the hand-held shower was a real inconvenience, especially if you have long hair. I dropped it once, and water spewed all over the bathroom. However, the room was really pretty, though small, the personnel were terrific and very helpful. […] Glad I didn't have to pay for the breakfast though ... there was nothing I could or would eat. Coffee was great! Read more
"Loved It"
Bed was perfect, which is important for a 6 night stay. We had a superior room that had a veiw, over the roof tops, of Sacre Coeur, which is lighted up at night. Staff was freindly and helpful. Breakfast was extremely nice with plenty to start off each day. The neighborhood was fun, lots of restaurants and things to see. We choose to always go back […] here to eat after sightseeing because we enjoyed the feeling of the area we got to know quite well. Hint: always take the elevator at the Abysses Metro stop. Read more

"Best hotel in Monmatre area"
The hotel is in one the most chacarteristic areas of Paris, in Monmatre, the Deco of the hotel is lovely, we received a great service, clean room and the breakfast was really nice with a selection of cheese and good quality french pastry. I would go there next time.
"Great location"
Really great location central for all area has to offer but if you go in summer dont expect to be able to sleep with the windows open. No air conditioning and the attic room we were in was boiling, The narrow street funnels noise and it was really hard to get to sleep with so much going on below. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, had to queue for a table […] but plentiful and well presented. Hotel was exceptionally clean. Read more
"In the heart of Montmartre"
The Hotel des Arts is situated in the heart of Montmartre, a short walk from Place Blanche. Although on a quieter street, this is narrow and cobbled, so if your bedroom is to the front of the hotel, you may find it quite noisy at night if you leave your window open (there is no air conditioning). The hotel itself is clean and well-presented, and the […] staff are friendly and welcoming. Our room was quite small, but "perfectly formed", and had everything for our needs. The bathroom was very clean and fresh, but again small. However, the bath had no shower curtain, and the shower had nothing to attach it to the wall (which was fully tiled), so it was not really designed for stand-up showering. Breakfast was served in an attractive breakfast room in the hotel's basement, at the bottom of a spiral staircase leading off the reception area. This was self-service, as is usual, and was continental-style. The breakfast room could get busy at times, so try to time your visit well. Breakfast was served from 7 until 10, and some things could begin to run out towards the end of service. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel des Arts, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay on a budget, in a charming part of Paris and from where you can visit all the sights at ease (there is a Metro station (Line 2) situated in Place Blanche at the bottom of the hill, less than 5 minutes walk away). "Very good hotel"
Apart from confusion when I arrived over room allocation, I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel des Arts. Very clean, well lit room but uncomfortable bed. Breakfast was included in room price and was perfectly ok - coffee was particularly good. One quibble, no air conditioning in my room which could be a concern in the hotter months of July and August.

"Hidden gem"
This is only the second review I have ever given on a hotel, if that gives any idea of how happy I was with this reservation. It was perfect in every respect, except for the really small elevators (problem in every Paris hotel). The room was much larger than I expected and so was the bathroom. Very good night sleep on an exceptionally comfortable bed […] and the shower was the largest I have had in any hotel in Paris before. Only downside to this room was no air conditioning, but there was a nice, cool breeze from the window, so it wasn't a problem Bonus: The desk staff spoke better English than some of my friends here in the states. The bald guy...must be the day manager, was very helpful with train service, directions to sites, theatre tics for Moulin Rouge and places to eat. Oh..and there is also free Internet in the lobby and umbrellas to borrow when it rained. The breakfast was very nice and the dining area was nice and roomy. Only down side is the slight hill you have to walk up to get there, but it's only about 100 feet. At the bottom of the hill, there are about 10 different cafe's and eateries to choose from, but make sure you are there before 7:00, as that is when most of the walk-up cafe's close. Moulin Rouge is about 2 blocks away, Sacra Coeur is within walking distance...and so is a Starbuck's if you really need a fix. All in all...this place was great and I would have stayed another night, but I tried to book late and it was full. My bad. Read more

Great little hotel in the heart of the Paris nightlife. Three blocks from the Moulin Rouge. Loved the Paris feel and friendly staff. Close to the metro and Double deck sight-seeing bus route. Breakfast was a bit sparse - not much variety.

Friendly helpful reception person. Fabulous breakfast.
"Perfect for Montmatre"
A lovely hotel, perfectly situated in Montmatre. Breakfast simple but adequate. Hotel staff extremely welcoming and helpful. Good selection of restaurants nearby. Try Chez Toinette and Cafe des deux Moulins if you can. Book Chez Toinette in advance...it gets very busy.
"Het Des Arts, Paris"
I was slightly apprehensive booking this hotel based on ratings, however i was blown away. This Paris' best kept secret. The staff are friendly and amenable and always willings to assist. The room was smallish, but cosy with modern fixtures in the bathroom and alway clean. Ideally located close to Mouline Rouge and 2 underground stations was ideal.
"perfect location in Paris Village"
Lovely to stay in Paris in a village atmosphere, with all the associated shops. Many great restaurants within 5 mins walk of hotel - best is Chez Toinette, but others were good also
"Hotel Des Arts, a hidden gem in Montmartre"
We stayed two nights at the Hotel Des Arts in Paris, Montmartre. We had a excellent stay. The room was smal, but that is to be expected in Paris. It was very clean, and that's the most important thing. There was also a very nice selection of eco-friendly bath products in the bath room. I thought that was a nice touch. We didn't make use of the breakfast […] in the hotel, as there are ample bistros in the vicinity where you can go. For those that want to travel light, but still stay in touch with the world, the hotel offers free use of an ipad for up to two hours. Also there is free wifi, just ask for the code at the reception. If I would have to say one bad thing, then it would be that only 3 channels were working on the TV in the room, but when you're in Paris, who cares...I would certaily recommend this hotel to couples, although due to the "adult entertainment" in the neighbourhood, it could be slightly less suited for children. Perfect location, plenty of cafe bars and shops to choose from. Metro just at bottom of hill. Hotel is on a nice quite street. Rooms are small and walls quite thin, but really enjoyed the stay. Would definitely go back again.
"hotel des arts, v friendly and comfortable."
Other reviews weren't wrong. This is a charming ,friendly, spotless hotel with a good breakfast and only a few minutes from two metro stations. Reception are very helpful too. Although there are plenty of tourists in Montmartre, its an interesting neighbourhood with good local bars and restaurants.
"Great hotel in every way!!!"
We booked this hotel based on the reviews & the price. It met our expectations completely. Very easy to find from the metro station. Staff extremely friendly & welcoming & happy to help with any questions. Room small but very very comfortable. Breakfast reasonable & they serve til 10.30am - but make sure your finished by then as we arrive at 10.20am […] most mornings (enjoyed the late night bars too much) & don't think kitchen staff too impressed. Anyways - the Montmatre area is great & plenty of cosy bars & restaurants on every street. You really are spoilt for choice & they all stay open til 2am. Also, they are busy every night which is just French culture I think but its nice to see such a sociable lifestyle & not the binge drinking culture we have in the UK. Be careful down the Moulin Rouge area - a few sex shops there (if you fancy) & lots of hustle & bustle but slightly sleazy feel to it (I like my wine bars with a nice atmosphere & smaller places that aren't slap bang in the main drag full of tourists)....... also prices down at Moulin Rouge through the roof - we paid 18 euro for 2 pints & some peanuts in an irish bar few doors down. If you've got deep pockets & just have to have a Guinness then at least you know what its gonna cost. Worth a mention is the Zebra bar - 50yards from the hotel & despite its 'student bar' look, the food was great & drinks reasonably priced with lovely staff too - worth a visit! The hotel is a stone throw from the Sacre Cour, which is beautiful!! You also get amazing views over Paris too. We never went to Moulin Rouge after reading reviews but its only a few minute walk away also. Eiffel Tower fun especially if you walk up it - they queues for this option are very short!!! Good tip if you don't want to stand half the day for to go up the lift -would say if you've got health probs - stand in the Q but if not - go for the walk up the stairs - even if your not that fit - I've not been to a gym in years & was fine. Notre Dame amazing - pr Read more

"Hotel des arts Montmartre"
Easy to reach by RER from all airports and a short taxi ride. Friendly and helpful staff and lovely rooms. Clean and well equiped. Nice sitting room with newspapers and flowers for all gruests. The only drawback is the breakfast. Cold coffee and not much to chose from. One sort of cheese packed in small plastic packets, small jars of jam etc. Not very […] ecofriendly and hence not in tune with the rest of the hotel. the area is beautiful with loads of interesting designer shops, small food stalls/ shops and of course good restaurants. "Amélie would approve"
If you know where you're going and are travelling light, this is an easy half hour's walk from the Eurostar arrival at the Gare du Nord. Montmartre is my preferred part of Paris to stay in since while it can be tiresome in the grip of tourist midday, out of hours this is a truly atmospheric part of the city to ramble around, with views and an aching […] nostalgia. This hotel is a treat - simple, smart and well-appointed. The supplement for a top floor room was well worth it as our room had a view towards Sacré Coeur over the rooftops and chimney pots - and to the right over the city down below. The room was quiet and comfortable - and I slept like a baby (or concussed like a parisian). A good breakfast is available downstairs in a bright setting - and the little lounge on the ground floor has newspapers, internet and a CD jukebox. A stonesthrow's stroll and you're superbly placed for all the treats in Abbesses (try the Cave des Abbesses for fabulous wines - sample the excellent Bandol rouge - and foie gras, if your conscience allows) - and indeed our first evening we found everything we wanted just moments away. Just 36 hours of a weekend in autumnal mild sunny weather, Paris is spectacular. There is nowhere quite like it. Read more
Wonderful, helpful staff. Great location, near the metro 'Blanche', montmartre and the line '2'...with great access to central Paris - fast. Breakfast is very, very basic, missable. Better head out and go to the amazing homebaked tart shop on the road down to Blanche station, on the left. Would stay again...really great.
"Hotel des Arts Hotel Montmartre"
The hotel was typically French and very comfortable. The area of Montmartre is a good area to stay with a good choice of restaurants and is not too far out of the centre of Paris. The open top bus is very handy, the bustop being near the Moulin Rouge. We would definately stay there again.
"Hotel Des Arts - Montmartre, Paris. Well worth it."
This is a fabulous little hotel, deserving more than a 3 star rating. It's in a great location, close to the Moulin Rouge, and the Sacre Coeur, and just a short metro ride from all the major sites. The room was small but very clean and comfortable, we had a view of the Eiffel Tower from our window, and the smell of croissants from nearby bakeries tickled […] our noses every morning.
