"First visit to Venice"
The hotel was a few feet from the motorboat (bus stop) which goes to different parts of Venice. The service was great and we enjoyed the breakfast. The staff is friendly but do not speak much English. We do not speak Italian either but we were able to communicate. I liked the hotel location because it was quiet away from the commercial area but near […] to restaurants either by foot or by motorboat. WE ENJOYED VENICE BIG TIME.... "Best Western Venice"
It is far away from then action of tourist. You need at least 30 minutes to get to the train station and sites of the city. If you want to see trees and grass and get away from the tourist crowd it is good. The food and service is good but the way the lights work at this hotel is confusing. Not many restaurant choices. "Relax and get away from the crowds"
The Hotel Sant'Elena is in a pleasant, quiet residential neighborhood, near a park, about 20 minute walk from the Piazza San Marco. You can easily get to nearby water bus and water taxi stops without having to navigate any bridges. The room was large and clean, but the mattresses could use updating. Wonderful breakfast buffet with hot and cold items. […] Great place to stay close to the heart of Venice and still be able to get away from the crowds. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"An Island of Calm in only forested area of Venice, Italy"
This hotel is in a quiet, mostly residential area, with lovely walkways from the St. Elena vaporetto stop, which are canopied with full grown shade trees (the only such area in all of Venice) . It is a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle of most areas of Venice. It is within walking distance of St. Mark's Square. There are several cafes and […] a delicious 'pizza parlor' in the neighborhood for informal dining. The hotel is quiet - and it's history includes being a convent school prior to its present use. The facilities are comfortable, the decor is subdued and all amenities more than adequate. It is highly recommended. The breakfast buffet provides a variety of choices - all good. When we come back to Venezia we will definitely stay at Sant'Elena. It's location in a residential and forrested neighborhood was such a treat to come back to every day after all the hussle and bustle of Venezia proper. The hotel breakfasts were so plentiful with eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, fruits, cereal, yogurt, juices, every hot and cold […] beverages you could even imagine. A nearby market had wonderful fruit, vegetables, snacks, beverages. An outdoor cafe provided good meals, especially pizza. It was relaxing to see children playing soccer, locals jogging and playing tennis. It was refreshing to take the vaporetto to and from the Sant'Elena. Every evening we looked forward to the wonderful walk through the trees (including magnolias) listening to cicadas and people enjoying dinner al fresco. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"See another, more peaceful side of Venice"
The room was great (large, clean, current), the included morning breakfast buffet was well done, and the staff was very nice. Just be sure not to go when the Venice water bus drivers are on strike because lugging the bags to this out-of-the-way hotel is very exhausting. Otherwise, the water bus station is a mere block away from the hotel and quite accessible. […] We stayed in another part of Venice during another leg of our journey and while it was nice, this Best Western showed us a peaceful, non-tourist-infested area of Venice where we could observe a slice of life moment of the rare Venetian resident. btw, a 24 hour bank of food machines is closeby in the case of munchies at odd hours. It is located along the perimeter of the park that is in between the water bus station and the hotel. Enjoy! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved the hotel, everything was just perfect and couldn't be any better than that. We stayed there for a family holiday for 5 days in July, staff were kind and helpful, the breakfast was fantastic and I think was even better than some 5 star hotels that I have been to. The hotel is located almost at the far side of the Venice in a beautiful peaceful […] and quite neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, it is a 20 minutes walk to the St Mark or 5 minute on Vaporreti (water bus). "Lovely Location, quiet place and good price"
I really liked the hotel and its 10 mins walk from the Arsenale. The satff were very friendly and nice comfy place. Some things which did not make me happy are no mineral water or milk for making tea or coffee and breakfast was not so good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the best"
Although the staff were friendly and extremely helpful, I found this hotel to be over priced for the room compared to other hotels we stayed at in the region (including in Venice CBD itself). The location is out of the way, the surrounding suburbs are quiet with no activity. The room was cramped...very cramped. I paid less for a 4 star hotel in the […] middle of Venice CBD for less and had a lot more room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Best Western Premier Hotel Sant'Elena Dear Guest, Thanks for leaving a review on Hotels.com. The opinions of our guests are very important for us. First of all, I am very happy to read you appreciated the helpfulness and friendliness of our staff, without doubt they are our greatest strength. On the contrary, I am sorry you did not like the location where we are. The Sant’Elena, indeed, is immersed in a beautiful green area away from the crowd of the downtown but near the Biennale and only at a pleasant half hour walk from St. Mark’s square (or 5 minutes with the water bus). At the end, it is important for me remembering that our hotel was an ancient convent , so we have the possibility to lodge our guests in room types very different each other, larger or smaller, having obviously different prices. We are glad you stayed at our hotel during your holiday in Venice and we are looking forward for your next visit to the Venetian Lagoon. Kind regards, Paola D'Errigo Customer Care Supervisor BEST WESTERN PREMIER Hotel Sant'Elena
"Peaceful haven after a day of exploring."
What a delightful hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly. Our room, in its glorious position just off the garden, was cleaned daily. Breakfast was very good. Nights were quiet and peaceful - only slightly disturbed by the courting pigeons! We will be back!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ground floor room not ideal"
Overall very good but the one gripe would be that the room backed on to the ramp from the dining room/kitchen and so was bit noisy in morning and lack of privacy if you pull back the curtains.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Really happy with our stay here. It's a lovely hotel that's located a little further out of the centre but this is not a problem as the vaporetti stop is only a one minute walk from the hotel. "What a wonderful place."
This hotel is slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Venice, but still less than ten minutes travel on the vaporetto! Two minutes walk from the S' Elana 'bus' stop. We stayed with two other couples, and everyone commented how wonderful the location, rooms, and staff were. Our room was one of the ground floor ones that opened out directly […] onto the small garden courtyard. It was well furnished, plenty of wardrobe and storage space, bathroom was a good size and the shower was easy to use! The bed was very comfy (king size). All of the staff were very helpful and polite. The bar manager Francesco was very helpful, answering questions about ' out of the way' places in Venice and how to get there. And he makes a good cocktail! The WiFi was very good with fast connection, and a simple password. We only had breakfast at the hotel, but this was fresh, plentiful and had a good selection. Not only the usual continental lay out, but scrambled eggs, bacon, and small sausages. The dining room is roomy and its easy to get around the tables. We had a wonderful four day stay and will certainly use this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Chose this hotel on location to vapretto stop [2 minutes walk away] and price range. Very pleased with the all aspects of the stay Staff very helpful and knowledgable. Breakfast and free afternoon tea [no-one seemed to know about this as we were the only ones partaking] were both good on choice and the staff very obliging of special requests eg coffee […] choices, hot pastries etc. Hotel was very quiet no doors banging lifts pinging etc and we were suprised to see how many were in the hotel at breakfast. Only gripe was that the room was big but there was very little room for negotiation around the bed! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Romantic weekend in Venice"
Just back from a romantic 3 night stay, our first trip to Venice. Hotel was easy to find and ideally located we felt. Near enough to boat or walk to main tourist area but far enough to be quiet and bit more of a 'locals' area. We had a junior suite, ok size for 2. The room was decorated well, very clean and despite reviews I had read before was of good […] standard. Staff were helpful although we had no major issues we needed their help with. Buffet breakfast was good, lots of yummy pastries and food was restocked well. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant Saturday night, dressed up but were only ones lol! The good was very yum but we both felt there wasn't alot of choice on the menu and bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. 2courses each, bottle of prosseco and bottle water was 80euros. Non hotel related, would advise others to buy a public travel card at the airport when you land as this means you can hop on and off public boat and buses, 7 days only cost 50euro each unless your feeling flushed then the other option is private taxi boats when charge alot. Get a gondola early in the day too so it's nice and relaxed. Sundays seem to be open for tourists and restaurants as normal so don't worry but nothing in general really starts til 10am. We would def come back to Venice and Sant' Elena Best Western too. Thanks for a lovely break. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good, comfortable hotel near all attractions."

Excellent location for those who prefer peaceful surroundings, to staying in the thick of the city. Close to the Public Gardens and St'Elena waterbus stop. Response by Best Western Premier Hotel Sant'Elena Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to write a review on our BEST WESTERN PREMIER Hotel Sant’Elena on Hotels.com. The comments of our guests are always welcome, even when they are not positive. In this way, in fact, we have the opportunity to clarify the doubts and to examine the issues raised. I am very concerned you did not enjoy the location in which the hotel is situated but I think it is a little ungenerous. The Sant’Elena, indeed, is immersed in a beautiful green area away from the crowd of the downtown but near the Biennale and only at a pleasant half hour walk from St. Mark’s square (or 5 minutes with the water bus). Therefore, we invite you to visit us soon to enjoy the beauty surrounding the hotel and to demonstrate you once more the high quality of our services. The water bus goes very close to the hotel; excellent room and service, very good breakfasts, quiet location. The A/C was not working well, but the management provided a fan. Staff were very helpful and courteous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel, highly recommended, perfect location!"
The Sant' Elena hotel was the best hotel we went to throughout our holiday and we spent time in the holiday inn in paris and the Ibis in Provence. It was clean, brunch breakfast was included and the staff were very very helpful and polite. One staff member, Gabrielle, checked us in during the late evening and gave us advice on travelling around Venice […] using the bus boats (Atcv) public transport he also gave us a map of Venice for free which actually was better than ones from the Tourist Office which we paid for. He was well spoken in English and always had a smile on his face. The best customer service we had all holiday! The location of the hotel itself is also great, away from the busy touristy centre but still only 30 mins by walking to San Marco. Also you can take the number 5.2 bus boat to San Marco which is 2 minutes from the hotel straight through the park. If you want to get to the hotel from Piazzale Roma (P.L.E Roma, bus station) you can also take the 5.2, 5.1, 1 or 2 bus boat. From the Marco Polo airport we paid 12 euro each for the coach to P.le Roma and the bus boat to Sant'Elena. There was also a really nice local restaurant next to the hotel which also serves as a little convience store which we used to get water all the time, but they also do the best pizza's!! Much better than going to those tourist places witch questionalble food! Will definately be using this hotel again when we return! Thanks Sant'Elena! Would suggest getting travel cards for 1-7 days. Our recent stay was excellent, all the staff were very welcoming and helpful, our room was lovely, the bed was really comfortable, the location may not suit some but for us it was away from the hustle and bustle of st marks square with a nearby vaperetto stop if you didn't feel like walking, we did walk and it was a very pleasant 20 minute stroll to […] st marks square. We only ate in the evening resturant on our first of two nights, but it was really lovely food and service and the breakfast was a serve yourself continental buffet with plenty of choice, so you could have as much or as little as you wanted. "Very good if you don't mind a bit of walking"
By Venice standards, the price of the hotel for the quality you get is good. It's at the far end of Venice island and is around a 30 minute walk to St Marks Square. We were quite happy to walk as the route is along the bay. Santa Elena ferry boat station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, so if you don't mind paying the 7 Euros every time you use the […] ferry, you can get to all points around Venice. Spent 3 nights at Sant'Elena hotel in Venice. Great location at eastern tip of island. Get there via waterbus which we got outside Santa Lucia station. Choice of which waterbus to take. Great location, it has its own gardens and offers sun loungers. We made good use of these after a day's sightseeing! Can walk into city centre - 20 mins to Piazza San Marco. You can stop and have a drink at café on way and look out over the water. Fantastic! "A Quiet Retreat"
Overall we had a wonderful experience at Sant 'Elena. Located in a quite residential area just off the Giardini (a five minute walk), this is definitely a good spot if you are looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of tourists. The rooms are nice and updated and the reception staff very friendly and helpful. Perhaps the best part of staying at this […] hotel was the very comprehensive breakfast served in a large dinning room and their wonderful garden. A good place to start the day. While our overall experience was good at this hotel we were a bit disappointed by how sloppy the cleaning of the room was. Not much effort had been made to clean underneath the bed (for example) where there was a great deal of dust and dirt. On one of the three days we stayed there the bathroom floor and tub could have used a bit of attention. But as I said, overall our experience was good and I would certainly stay there again. The hotel was easy to find. If you are coming from the airport you simply take the Alilaguna water bus to Lido. From here it is a simple one stop trip on the Vaporetto. "Good location but very poor, standard room."
The standard room that we had was extremely small, too small for two people. The room had very high windows that meant no view at all (unless you stood on a chair). When we arrived we noticed the room had not been very well cleaned and there was dirt on the floor and marks to the wall where pictures had been removed. We also noticed some damp stains […] to the ceiling. Apart from the room the hotel staff were helpfull and friendly and the location is quiet and near to the vaporetto for ease of connection to St Marks and to the Lido etc. The breakfast was fine but the dining room a little crowded. Response by Best Western Premier Hotel Sant'Elena Dear Guest , Thank you for writing a review on our BEST WESTERN PREMIER Hotel Sant’Elena on Expedia. We are always ready to welcome with open arms the opinions of our guests. First of all, I am glad you appreciated the kindness of our hotel staff. Concerning the room, I would like to inform you we have very different types, whit different prices and obviously different characteristics. To be thorough, our hotel was an ancient convent and for this reason its architecture is very particular. With regard to the breakfast, certainly you chose particularly crowded times but if you had asked to our staff they certainly would have informed you that in addition to the internal room we have also an external one where our guests can enjoy the peace and the serenity of the garden. "Great location, peaceful retreat and helpful staff"
What a great time we have just had at St Elena. I don't normally write reviews as they are very personal but I have been moved to as this is such a little gem. The location could not be better. Far enough out but still a 5 min vaporatto ride from San Marco. Really popular for local Venetians and their families. Great for kids, there is a volleyball […] court, football, basketball and lots of open areas. Easy to find hotel from the water bus stop, well signposted. We got a smallish room but asked for a larger one which the staff arranged very quickly. We borrowed an adaptor for our entire stay, free wifi for all our gadgets which was fast and reliable, where do you get that nowadays? We were able to FaceTime easily which made a world of difference when leaving kids behind. Breakfast was plentiful, varied and fresh. We were usually late breakfasters but there was not a problem that they start to clear up or there is no food left. Also had Apple Macs in the lobby with printer free to use. Stayed last year in a "boutique" hotel, paid twice as much for a room which was half the size near Ferrovia. With its location, staff and amenities you cannot fault this hotel. Would recommend it to all travellers. Go out a little and see the other side of Venice. Check out the lagoon side restaurants at Zattere, pop along to the Lido which is one stop away and eat gelato on the beach. And get the first water taxi that stops, you never know what you might see.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
