This hotel is the perfect spot if you want to travel on foot and enjoy the french quarter. We never took our car out and we were able to visit all main attractions of the "quatah" The rooms are small so do not expect to be able to unload everything. There was a nice sized closet. Zero drawer space. The bathroom was very nice and the rainfall shower […] was amazing. Be sure to bring bug spray for those friendly little blood suckers! They are everywhere in the quarter. The breakfast included was normal, muffins, cereal, bagel etc. All in all a great stay especially for the money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice. History. Located in the French Quarter"
Eric was awesome. All staff friendly and helpful. Did not forget when you asked for something. Went the extra mile. Sent us to the French Quarter with umbrellas because it was supposed to rain.....Genuine Expedia guest review
Been a hotel without a parking lot in the French quarter is not the best news when you arrive to the hotel. The only option is 5-10 minutes away from the hotel...not happy about that! Location was perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had an excellent expreance our lobby attendant was super helpfully an very friendly ... It was super close to every thing we wanted to see ... An the room was beautiful !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great French Quarter location"
Great location. The room was clean and comfortable although it was a bit small. The employees were very helpful and pleasant. One concern was an occasional buzzing noise in the room. Overall, I would recommend it to a friend and I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel in the historic French Quarter!"
I really enjoyed staying in the French Quarter. The hotel room was clean; however, I did miss some of the amenities such as a refrigerator to chill beverages (especially water, New Orleans is very hot in the summer), a coffee maker associated with the "big name" hotels. The room had an iron and ironing board but, both were broken. We called (in the […] evening) to asked if these items could be replaced and we were told that we had to wait until morning. The iron and ironing board was never replaced. The customer service particularly in the evening is very poor. My advice is to check in and assess all appliances and necessities. Then, report any concerns to the front desk immediately, record the name of the person to whom you spoke with, and follow-up. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"French Quarter beauty, but no parking"
We liked the hotel, but got stuck four floors up and there is not an elevator if you're bringing in your luggage. The view was nice and I think if we were staying for awhile, it would have been perfect. The hotel staff was pleasant and knowledgeable, but BEWARE: there is NO parking. It took us over an hour to find parking, because the tiny valet lot […] was full, and the overnight parking they directed us to was incredibly expensive. The location was fine, not center of the French Quarter but tucked away in a quieter section, which suited us great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is old and needs a little maintenance but that was expected. The service was fantastic and I will be staying here for future visits to New Orleans.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful historic hotel near Bourbon St"
Lovely hotel! Staff was attentive and very helpful! Breakfast was sufficient to get you going in the morning, a nice little snack to hold over till lunch. (Croissants, muffins, etc.) Bottled water was provided, too, which is always nice. Loved the rooms with exposed brick and beautiful hardwood floors. Bed and pillows were all super comfy. Nice linens, […] down (type) comforters, plenty of pillows. Toiletries provided included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and two bars of soap. Hotel has a beautiful little courtyard with a fountain. Overall, we really liked it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and easy to find!!!"
My stay was awesome...and the staff was sensational...always willing to help with anything. Called me after they helped me with my bags to make sure I was happy with my room...and the staff always smiled!!! Room was very clean and I enjoyed having a balcony to take in the views.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Safe and Great Location"
The Hotel Royal is in a safe and great location. You're in walking distance to pretty much everything. The hotel room was great for the price, especially since we didn't spend too much time in the room. The only complaint I would have to divulge would have to be the toilet. It didn't flush properly and the seat seemed to be broken. The hotel was clean […] and charming. The service was wonderful and they even helped us carry our bags up the flight of stairs. I would definitely stay here again when I return to New Orleans. Also, the hotel is fairly close to Madame Lalaurie's mansion. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A mix of great and OK"
We checked into a room on the 3rd floor, which was 47 steps up to the room. After the first night, we asked to be put on the ground floor. Our 3rd floor room was spotless, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom appreared recently remodeled in marble. Nice. The first floor room where we spent the rest of the trip, well, not so nice. The AC would not […] get the room below 70 degrees, and paint was flaking off the wall in several areas. The bed was very comfortable and the bath was clean. Hotel staff were accommodating and friendly, breakfast was the usual cold stuff, nothing special. Overall, we were pleased but walked away feeling the value wasn't quite there for the price we paid. "Charming, small hotel, great location, nice staff"
I was only in New Orleans for a few days, and I did not plan to spend much time my hotel room. This hotel is perfect for that kind of experience – the room is small, but very clean, very neat and tasteful. Plus the air conditioning was a godsend during the terrible New Orleans heat and humidity. The staff was very nice and helpful (especially Donald). […] My only issue is that it didn't seem to have an elevator, but I was only 1 floor up so that wasn't a concern for me, but people with knee problems might consider this before. Still, the second floor is the highest floor, so it's not that much of an inconvenience. The continental breakfast was minimal but good enough for my purposes of grabbing something small before going out for the day. I would definitely stay here again. "Great hotel in a great location"
Quaint and comfortable hotel in the middle of the French Quarter. If you're planning on staying in the Quarter, I would recommend thus hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel staff was very friendly. They do not have an elevator so be warned. We brought a toddler along for the ride and the staff graciously let us keep the stoller in their office. The room we had was VERY small, I noticed a couple of cracks in the ceiling, but nothing major. The bathroom was a nice size and updated. It's in a nice location, but […] in my opinion not worth $100 plus per night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful boutique hotel with excellent service!"
My husband and I moved to Hotel Royal after a terrible experience at one of the "four star" hotels in the French Quarter. When Arianna at the front desk and Eric (who seemed to be a door man/bell hop/concierge) heard about how badly things had gone for us at our other hotel, and that we were there for our 25th anniversary, we were upgraded to the king […] suite. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our stay in New Orleans. We will definitely book a room here the next time we stay in the French Quarter. "Perfect location & exceptional staff."
The Hotel Royal is in the perfect location within The French Quarter. Short walk to everything yet far enough away from the night life that you can actually get a good nights sleep. Staff was excellent, friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is in a historic building, rooms were clean, grounds well maintained, and the property is visually appealing. […] It is a quirky, unique, hotel, with exceptional staff - exactly what you would expect in New Orleans. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The staff was friendly. The room was clean, the location was great. The only concern I have was the noise in the room at night, there was a large humming noise that filled the room which made it difficult to sleep through.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Burbon street but not too close"
The distance was perfect from Burbon street! The walk took a couple of minutes and you were away from the craziness of Burbon street. Royal street is a really nice street. We stayed for six days and walked everywhere. The aquarium, the WWII museum, Burbon Street, and anywhere we needed to meet for a tour. The room we chose was the cheapest one, which […] is the smallest one. To us, it was perfect. We didn't plan on just staying in the room, so the size didn't matter. The only complaint I had was the bathroom counter space....there was just a big sink. But even that wasn't terrible or a total disappointment. The hotel staff was great! Really friendly as well. "Four story WALKUP"
I upgraded to a larger room and when I arrived they told me it was a FOURTH FLOOR WALKUP. This is not a good thing especially for seniors in their late 60's. I would NOT stay at this hotel again for that reason.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Enjoyed my stay. Will stay there again given the opportunity.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location-Small room"
Perfect historical / boutique type hotel. Our room was REALLY small, even for NOLA. The location was excellent and the room was clean and cool. It is in an old building, so there is not an elevator. I think that added to the charm. I would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location is best thing about this hotel"
Be warned there are no elevators and there are fourth floor rooms which are converted attic space. No countertop space on bathroom which is very small. No mirror outside bathroom either. Location is greatGenuine Expedia guest review
Enjoyed the stay but parking was of concern with basically no hotel parking available.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing boutique hotel"
The hotel was everything I could have hoped for and more. The rooms are walk up, which may not suit everyone but it adds to the charm when the doorman shows you to your room. My experience staying here was much more intimate and authentic than the crowne plaza down on Canal. And the front desk gave us a great dinner recommendation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"NICE HISTORIC HOTEL"
I LOVED THIS HOTEL. THIS WAS A SMALL, QUAINT HOTEL. ALL THE ROOMS OPEN TO A CUTE COURTYARD. THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT. OUR SAFE DIDN'T WORK AND IT WAS QUICKLY REPLACED BY ERIC. DEVAN AND WYATT WERE QUICK TO GET US TICKETS TO EXCURSIONS OR CALL A CAB WHEN WE NEEDED ONE. I WOULD DEFINTELY STAY HERE AGAIN.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel! Great location, friendly staff"
This hotel has great character! Loved it! The only minus, is the water pressure in the shower. Otherwise it was such a nice stay! Will stay here every time we come to New Orleans.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Way above expectations!"
Went down there for a bachelor party (very low key - more good meals, tours, experiences and sight-seeing than partying) and just wanted to find a place that was overly New Orleans original, convenient, and "nice." This place was perfect! The room exceeded expectations. The balcony was the best on Royal. The location was incredible - so easy to access […] anything on foot but not too much "in the mix" that you'd be kept up. The staff was 5-star nice and accomodating. Now, we were in a suite around a corner and a wall from the stairs, so I cannot promise this portfolio of experiences is all the same. That being said, I will book Hotel Royal every time I go back. First time rating, and just to +1 this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Decent it's where everything we want to be ."
Front desk staff are helpful but house keeper are terrible. They came and clean the room but all they did was empty garbage and made bed. They gave us 1 towel to replace the dirty we have to ask extra it's a hassle. To make it worse our room was on the 5th floor with no elevator to carry our luggage down. I will not recommend this to anyone especially […] older couples. The only nice thing about this hotel is location where the party always is. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, Super service"
Amazing hospitality from both bellmen! Needless to say the location is great. But one warning, if you stay in the superior it'll be huge and at the tippy top of 6 flights of stairs. So bring a lever and pulley for those wild nights!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute for authentic nola but no amenities."
This is a cute hotel that has the nola french quarter feel. We took their best room for the balcony and: the room was spacious, there was a jacuzzi tub, the balcony was great, the room was clean. But: the shower stall was tragic, the towels were not replaced unless I directly asked housekeeping, there was a few cheap soaps and some water but neither […] were replaced. This is a walk-up and the website should advise for those who cant climb stairs. And the breakfast was coffe and bread. Not a great value for the price but good location. "Very minimalist room"
Room had very little furniture. It was a nice spring day but hotel wouldn't let thermostat go below 70. With the heavy bedding and being on the top floor with full sun - it was hot! I'm not sure if the AC ever kicked on even when the room got above 74. The hotel is cool - but they should be more straightforward that there is no parking except 5 blocks […] away and for $40 per day. Also to get to our room was a maze of going up and down stairs with no elevator and no assistance from hotel staff. Last straw was the less than 5 minutes of hot water in the shower. "All great, except for one thing"
Unfortunately our AC unit wasn't working, so it was quite hot. We probably should have complained and gotten another room, but it was pretty late at night when we discovered the problem, so we toughed it out. Otherwise, a great hotel, clean and modern, with an extremely great staff (thanks Eric!). Be warned that there's no elevator, our room was on […] the third floor. "Close to all the action"
Close to all the action but nice and quiet once it's time for bed :) the staff is very friendly and professional! My boyfriend travels for a living and he was super impressed with how clean the room was. We stayed in a petite room and even though it was on the small side it was very cozy. "The only good thing is the great location!"
The staff were very nice. We had to climb 3 flight of stairs to get to a decently clean room. The sheets were stained, not dirty. You can tell they had been washed but the stains did not come out. They still used them anyway! The in-room safe did not work. There was a crack above the shower on the water stained bathroom ceiling. The amount we paid was […] too much for the quality of room we got. Should have stayed at a chain hotel as we had in the past. At least you get what you pay for! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel right in the middle of town."
The staff was excellent, the room comfy. The only bad thing I have to say is that the walls are thin and you hear everything. The hotel is within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go.Genuine Expedia guest review
I liked it. Upgraded my room to 1st due to bad hip. No elevator put me off, but they have excellent bellhop/doorman service. One blk. off Bourbon St., but quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
