"Amazing boutique hotel"
The hotel was everything I could have hoped for and more. The rooms are walk up, which may not suit everyone but it adds to the charm when the doorman shows you to your room. My experience staying here was much more intimate and authentic than the crowne plaza down on Canal. And the front desk gave us a great dinner recommendation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"NICE HISTORIC HOTEL"
I LOVED THIS HOTEL. THIS WAS A SMALL, QUAINT HOTEL. ALL THE ROOMS OPEN TO A CUTE COURTYARD. THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT. OUR SAFE DIDN'T WORK AND IT WAS QUICKLY REPLACED BY ERIC. DEVAN AND WYATT WERE QUICK TO GET US TICKETS TO EXCURSIONS OR CALL A CAB WHEN WE NEEDED ONE. I WOULD DEFINTELY STAY HERE AGAIN.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel! Great location, friendly staff"
This hotel has great character! Loved it! The only minus, is the water pressure in the shower. Otherwise it was such a nice stay! Will stay here every time we come to New Orleans.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Way above expectations!"
Went down there for a bachelor party (very low key - more good meals, tours, experiences and sight-seeing than partying) and just wanted to find a place that was overly New Orleans original, convenient, and "nice." This place was perfect! The room exceeded expectations. The balcony was the best on Royal. The location was incredible - so easy to access […] anything on foot but not too much "in the mix" that you'd be kept up. The staff was 5-star nice and accomodating. Now, we were in a suite around a corner and a wall from the stairs, so I cannot promise this portfolio of experiences is all the same. That being said, I will book Hotel Royal every time I go back. First time rating, and just to +1 this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Decent it's where everything we want to be ."
Front desk staff are helpful but house keeper are terrible. They came and clean the room but all they did was empty garbage and made bed. They gave us 1 towel to replace the dirty we have to ask extra it's a hassle. To make it worse our room was on the 5th floor with no elevator to carry our luggage down. I will not recommend this to anyone especially […] older couples. The only nice thing about this hotel is location where the party always is. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Eric is fantastic!!! Very charming, albeit small, hotel but beautiful and far enough away from the debauchery of Bourbon Street! :)Genuine Expedia guest review
"24 hour bar with music"
Room so narrow couldn't navigate around. Balcony room directly above 24 hr bar w live music.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, Super service"
Amazing hospitality from both bellmen! Needless to say the location is great. But one warning, if you stay in the superior it'll be huge and at the tippy top of 6 flights of stairs. So bring a lever and pulley for those wild nights!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute for authentic nola but no amenities."
This is a cute hotel that has the nola french quarter feel. We took their best room for the balcony and: the room was spacious, there was a jacuzzi tub, the balcony was great, the room was clean. But: the shower stall was tragic, the towels were not replaced unless I directly asked housekeeping, there was a few cheap soaps and some water but neither […] were replaced. This is a walk-up and the website should advise for those who cant climb stairs. And the breakfast was coffe and bread. Not a great value for the price but good location. "Great spot. Great Location. Great staff."
The location of this hotel is perfect. Close to everything, yet far enough away from all the noise. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend spending the extra dough and getting a room with a private balcony. Beautiful place to start your day with coffee and breakfast. If you like to people watch, you have access to endless entertainment. […] Will definitely stay again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very minimalist room"
Room had very little furniture. It was a nice spring day but hotel wouldn't let thermostat go below 70. With the heavy bedding and being on the top floor with full sun - it was hot! I'm not sure if the AC ever kicked on even when the room got above 74. The hotel is cool - but they should be more straightforward that there is no parking except 5 blocks […] away and for $40 per day. Also to get to our room was a maze of going up and down stairs with no elevator and no assistance from hotel staff. Last straw was the less than 5 minutes of hot water in the shower. "All great, except for one thing"
Unfortunately our AC unit wasn't working, so it was quite hot. We probably should have complained and gotten another room, but it was pretty late at night when we discovered the problem, so we toughed it out. Otherwise, a great hotel, clean and modern, with an extremely great staff (thanks Eric!). Be warned that there's no elevator, our room was on […] the third floor. If stairs are a problem, request a first floor room. Overall a great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming hotel in the heart of the French Quarter."
The courtyard was the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and continental breakfast before starting your day. The The staff was friendly, professional, and extremely accommodating. My room was the perfect size for a solo traveler.I would absolutely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Had a great stay! Our room was on the fourth floor and allowed us privacy and quiet. The bellhop carried our bags all the way up. Location was amazing, all employees were friendly and helpful. Parking was also convenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to all the action"
Close to all the action but nice and quiet once it's time for bed :) the staff is very friendly and professional! My boyfriend travels for a living and he was super impressed with how clean the room was. We stayed in a petite room and even though it was on the small side it was very cozy. We would definitely stay there again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"The only good thing is the great location!"
The staff were very nice. We had to climb 3 flight of stairs to get to a decently clean room. The sheets were stained, not dirty. You can tell they had been washed but the stains did not come out. They still used them anyway! The in-room safe did not work. There was a crack above the shower on the water stained bathroom ceiling. The amount we paid was […] too much for the quality of room we got. Should have stayed at a chain hotel as we had in the past. At least you get what you pay for! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel right in the middle of town."
The staff was excellent, the room comfy. The only bad thing I have to say is that the walls are thin and you hear everything. The hotel is within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go.Genuine Expedia guest review
I liked it. Upgraded my room to 1st due to bad hip. No elevator put me off, but they have excellent bellhop/doorman service. One blk. off Bourbon St., but quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel. One block off Burbon Street."
The staff was very help full. They helped with our luggage, answer all of our questions. Great for a first time visitor.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location in the Middle of It All"
Very quaint hotel with a great "feel" to it. Staff was amazing. I was aware there were no stairs but truly didn't think I would have to climb 52 steps every time I needed to go downstairs to go out ( or get coffee etc.). By the end of the night (after walking miles of NOLA) this was exhausting. I stayed in room 16. It was a very nice spacious room but […] had absolutely no dresser nor did it have a luggage rack to put my suitcase on (I had to live out of my suitcase for a week because there was no dresser!). I wound up using the ironing board as a luggage rack and that helped a little bit. The bathroom was really nice and recently redone but like the room, had absolutely no storage. I was surprised at this because, like the room, there was plenty of space for a small side table next to the pedestal sink. The windows did not open at all and that kind of bummed me out as I love fresh air. The bed was super comfy but I don't think it was a queen size...in fact, I pulled off the sheets to see what the sewn on mattress tag said and lo and be hold..that part of the tag was cut out (confirming my suspicions that it was a double, not queen). The linens were nice and soft and the pillows were great (and we had plenty...6). I would go back and just ask to be on a lower floor. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I had an excellent stay for our 8th anniversary. The staff was great and very helpful for a couple that has never been to the French Quarter before. We had dinner reservations on our first night there, the front desk had a cab waiting to take us because the weather had turned ugly.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our room was tiny and the floor was literally slanted. It was in a good location in the French Quarter and had a balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful to my wife and I.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Should not be as expensive for what you get"
My room was very small. It had a stand up shower. They advertise modern, just a I pod radio. Not really a continental breakfast, just coffee and croissant. They should have just left it old looking and charged less. It would have been the same experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel in the center of it all"
The staff was very accommodating. Room was clean. Excellent stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant stay at the Hotel Royal"
We enjoyed our stay. The only minuses I would give was that our shower was a bit small, the water for the shower wasn't hot enough and we were only given one wash cloth for two occupants of the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff was the most friendly and helpful group. Location on a quiet street one block from burbon street. Will recommend to friends.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to everything"
If you're looking for a hotel near Bourbon street this is your place. Located on the backend of Bourbon Street and two blocks over it's a nice hidden gem that's in walking disrance of Bourbon and Canal Streets, the Flea Market, and the Superdome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location! Crummy showers"
We enjoyed our stay here. Perfect location-- can walk anywhere in the French quarter. Staff was wonderful. Room was very clean. Two issues: the shower left a lot to be desired-- but tbh, who goes to New Orleans to shower? Also, if you are a light sleeper, the train can be heard from this hotel and it runs a few times each night. Would definitely stay […] there again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location in French Quarter"
This hotel has a lot of character and the location can't be beat. Royal street has a lot of cute shops and the hotel is also close to Bourbon Street. Pretty much everything you'd want to do is within walking distance. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, if you are a light sleeper, this hotel is probably not for you. "6 flights of stairs!!"
The barroom amazing! The room was ok, the 6 flights of stairs was rough! The location wasn't bad and I must say thanks to the pedicabs my feet were saved.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to the action"
Our Stay at Hotel Royal was plesant. Close to all the action of Bourbon street & the French Quarter. Glad we opted to pay the extra for a balcony. Nice to sit & sip our coffee in the mornings. Though the bathroom was small it served it's propose. I would definately stay there again. Perfect for a weekend get away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Great stay, location & staff. Lot's of stairs to out room, old hotel but with great character. Will stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful service, disappointing accommodations"
The front desk staff were accommodating and friendly......as good as any highly rated hotel. The room service caption, Donald, was outstanding. Our room was at the top of the stairs landing (#23) and people came stumbling up the stairs and yelling past 3am. It IS New Orleands, but soundproofing should have been better.....we heard the guy in the next […] room snoring. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to bourbon street"
Very small room. Clean. No extras. Noisy ceiling fan to circulate air. Free breakfast consisted of a few assorted rolls and coffee. No coffee in room. Only ice machine four flights of steps away.Genuine Expedia guest review
I will definitely be staying here again!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a great time, only issue was there was not an elevator to get all the way to the top. We climbed 8 flights of stairs. The place was beautiful and the staff was amazing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The ENTIRE staff was just lovely. Everyone was friendly, warm and inviting. The hotel is decorated modern but warm. Its a boutique hotel, built in the 1800's, so there are no elevators. Be prepared for the steps, however, the awesome staff will help you with your luggage. My room was beautiful, with an amazing balcony and view. You're really out of […] the hustle and bustle of Bourbon St, but you're only a couple blocks away if you really want it. This is by far my FAVORITE French Quarter hotel, and I've stayed in quite a few. My only complaint is that it was only for one night. I can't wait to come back!!! "Awesome stay at a great price!"
Amazing, friendly service. Extremely clean. Prime walking location to Bourbon Street and riverbank area (Cafe du Monde). Small rooms and a tad noisy but is expected in such an area. Loved our stay would definitely go back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A block from Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, a few blocks from Jackson Square. Parking is a pain, plan for an extra $30/day for parking about a mile away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful, Affordable, Perfect Location"
This hotel was a block off Bourbon, but extremely affordable. Close enough to the party, but far enough down the road to remain peaceful. It was also within very close walking distance to the water and Decatur. The room was huge, with a beautiful bathroom, and very clean. Our only complaint was that there was a little draft coming from the door at night, […] and that the people walking upstairs sounded like they were right in the room with us. This was expected, however, with such an antique building. The hotel was beautiful, the staff was amazing, and the location was perfect. We will definitely stay again. "Pretty but not practical."
4th floor room. All stairs. No elevator. No parking???!!! What!!?? You try parking on the street in the French quarter... no good. And the shower barely sprayed. It took forever to get clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
1. A quiet place in the heart of French Quarter but close to noisy Bourbon Street. Highly recommend if you have no car to park (there is no free or cheap parking). 2. A lack: the tea-intended hot water has coffee smell. It looks like the management saves on buying an additional tea-only heater for about $60. To compare, they charged me $250 per night. 3. […] Unfortunately, the window cannot open. You need to use the conditioner like in standard net-wide hotels. 4. In all other issues I recommend this non-standard hotel in the southern-french style with atrium inside. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Interesting and "quaint""
Actually, the location was good if one wants to be in the heart of the French Quarter. It is a bit over a mile from the downtown/Canal Street area and about a mile and a half from the convention center. But not a bad walk in daylight. One block over (parallel) is the noise and crowds of Bourbon Street. But other than the early morning or night time […] walks to and from the convention center (safety?) I would stay there again. That said, it was noisy at night (not good sound insulation between rooms) and my room was SMALL; literally one step out of bed and I was in the small bathroom facing the toilet; 180 degree turn and another step and I was in the shower.
