Lots of food and entertainment. The fitness center was poor with a stationary bike that was outright dangerous and other equipment that was not functioning. Some bathrooms at the restaurant had foul odor.

I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. The air condition in the room was leaking and we had no hot water. The service in the restaurants were poor and the language barrier made it even worse. The best thing was the night entertainment.

It was ok, first they gave me a far away room that I needed transportation to get to, I had to speak to a supervisor an after 2 hours I finally got a better room. The food wasn't awesome it was ok. The staff was super friendly and nice.

The hotel is falling apart and not being maintained. After several complaints we finally got the electricity fixed, but never got the toilet or air conditioning fixed. The curtains and windows did not close properly. The room was stark with only 1 lamp (making it dark), no clock, and the bare minimum of furniture. Few of the staff spoke English, making […] it difficult to communicate our needs, even when asking for something to drink at meals. Food was fairly good, but service at the al carte restaurants was very slow, taking over 2 hours for dinner. The beach was very nice and decent snorkeling right off shore. But people reserved their beach chairs for their entire stay, making it very difficult to find a beach chair even though most of them were unoccupied. Other problems included no screens on our windows, towels were not always replaced, we didn’t receive the room requested (no king bed, no balcony, not handicapped accessible), and we had to go to a bar to get ice (ice makers by the rooms did not work). We have been to similar resorts in Punta Cana and Puerto Plata that were quite nice for comparable prices, so the cost should not have been an issue in the poor quality of this resort. Read more

We were lucky, we were in builging 4 just in front of the beach. All was almost perfect, the food was just regular, lack of fruits and sea foods ! But on sunday, a crowd invaded the resort and after that, queue for everything till 6:00 o´clock ! Because of christmas time, they came in a one-day-trip paid by theirs companies.

My fave bar was Las Carambolas me and my partner just loved the attention there because is not as croweded. Over the last 5 years the hotel had started to go downhill, BUT in our last stay the difference was so great, the service was so wonderful, the food so seductive that we were literally in shock from the moment we walked in. I spent 6 months reviewing several hotels and reading many comments. Most comments were really awful on every hotel I reviewed. I finally picked this one. I was shocked at the comments I read and didn't experience anything I read about. The only one issue I did have is that I didn't have a wash cloth for two days upon my arrival. Typical low-cost All-Inclusive. Rooms were clean, but a little shabby around the edges (3rd world country). Grounds were immaculate and very appealing. The beach is beautiful and not overly crowded. Breakfast was very good, fruit smoothies, fresh fruit and many baked goods. Lunch & Dinner were edible, but not really on a par with the best "budget buffets" […] in the USA. We tried the surcharged "French" restaurant in the resort, but it was a joke! The only thing "French" was the writing on the menus! The drinks were awful, very weak. Stick to the Presidente beer.**Food Tip: 50 paces across the street from the front lobby is a FANTASTIC Italian restaurant called Alumar (see Tripadvisor review). We were delighted with their professional service and the authentic (and reasonably priced) Italian cuisine. It was a refreshing (and much needed) break from the Barcelo's weak buffets. Also, if you don't speak Spanish you will be very frustrated asking questions. The locals DO take over the resort on the weekends and the beach vendors are EVERYWHERE (the 24hr security will run them off if asked). Read more

The beach was easily accessed and well-kept but getting around the coral was a factor when heading into the beautiful Caribbean. If you're an average swimmer you can avoid the rough sea floor by floating above it.
