"Sea Mist"
For the money I paid I expected the room to be better than it was. The room was an adequate size but it was not very clean. Our first night I went and got a shower and from the short trip from the bathroom to my bed my feet were black. That is how dirty the floor was. The cover to our AC unit kept falling off until finally my husband was able to fix […] it. Their balcony made me nervous having two small children with my because they could have easily fit through the bars. The elevator was small and slow. The building that we were in had two but one was not working. I also did not like the fact that everything was spread out and not connected to the main office. "Fine for a weekend"
We were in the Sandcastle building, be aware that this resort has many properties. This place is just fine if you plan on spending most of your time outdoors. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a long trip (3+ days). We didn't see any bugs; however, maintenance did spray to prevent bugs during our stay. Rooms were on two separate floors for Mother and three daughters :( Rooms were run down:( Carpet dirty :( Terribly disappointed with motel:( Would not stay there again or recommend to anyone else unless they were poor and couldn't do any better.

I would not recommend this place to anyone....ever. The pictures that are shown do not match the rooms at all. As soon as we walked in the room our eyes started burning and watering. The room was just plain nasty. We did not stay because of this. We found another hotel Dunes Village Resort and it was awesome.
"Look under the bed"
For being a newly renovated hotel, it was pretty beat up, The carpet in the hallways and stairs was ripped. When we went to retrieve an item of my daugters from under the bed we found bottles, loose pills, a sandle and alot of sand and dust. Property seemed very nice - just overnight so not big chance to explore. Property seemed to offer everything you could need. Room was clean and offered a view of the ocean.

overall the workers were nice and i was satisfied with that but, the elevator was broken, the floors were dirty, the lock on the balconey was broken and the room key harldy worked. A fellow neighbor had to tell me a trick to get it to work. The only thing i enjoyed about the hotel was the pool.

The hotel room itself was ok. No one swept or vacuumed the entire time of our 5 night stay. No one cleaned the tub either. Dishes were not washed by staff. We had to do all the cleaning on our own. "Horrified"
The grounds were disgusting - cigarrette butts everywhere, urination in the hallways, dirty floors, walls & elevators. The rooms had dated decor. The staff were MISERABLE and inattentive. They were not nice & did not help us when we asked for blankets or pillows or towels - had to ask/call more than once for everything. My husband was so grossed out […] he slept in the car the first night. There is no parking - so you have to pay a meter, and we got a parking ticket. The only good thing that happened is they authorized HOTELS.com to refund our full amount paid! Even the staff at the Sea Mist referred to the facility as "GHETTO". We were appauled and disgusted! This is definitely NOT a 3.5 star hotel....maybe on a scale of 100, but not out of 5 - and that is what our 15 year old son said! "Sea Mist Review"
I just came back from a Disney Resort the week before so quality vs price is hard to measure at this time. BUT it was a great place for the budget. Any hotel that is clean and allows my dog gets many stars for me. The Disney Resort didn't allow dogs and both were clean, so I pick this as my favorite :)

Good deal during spring break a lot less than other hotels. Great oceanfront view from balcony. Love the full size fridge in room. Like the heated indoor pools. This is an older hotel resort does show signs of age. Room was decent and fitted our needs. Water park was nice but additional small fee per person. Takes a while to know your way around. Breakfeast […] line was too long so ate elsewhere or in our room. Upkeep or hotel could have been a little better. If your used to new fancy hotels this is not for you. "Sea Mist Resort in Myrtle Beach - Don't Go There!!"
We stayed in the Driftwood building. The part that we were the completely dissatisfied was when we came back to our room on Friday evening and the only thing that housekeeping did was leave some clean towels on the bathroom sink. They didn't clean the sink and counters, didn't empty the trash cans, didn't make the beds, etc..., but they sure didn't […] hesitate to take our tip that we left on the pillow for them. This was very disappointing for us, because with any other hotel room that we've stayed in, the tip is left every day for housekeeping for cleaning our room and making the beds(which have always been done), not to just leave clean towels for us. We are Retired Seniors on a small Fixed Income and when we leave a tip, it's for the service we expect or have received. It's sad that the person that left the towels received our tip and that the person who actually cleaned our room lost out on it. But our room wasn't cleaned until after we complained to the front desk at 7:00PM. The furniture in our room was very worn, the worst we have ever seen in our hotel stays. The mattress and pillows on the bed should've been replaced at least 10 years ago. The building has some potential if it was remodeled and the furniture was replaced. The staff at the front desk in our building and also the grounds security were very unfriendly and need to show they care - especially when they're spoken to. Just an acknowledgement when you said good morning or hi to them would've been nice! Our daughter and family stayed in the Sandcastle building. We really felt bad for them. That building was a total dump and should be condemned and knocked down!!! We were not impressed with anything about the Sea Mist Resort and will never be back or recommend it!!! "The Sea Mist Hotel in Myrtle Beach"
My family of 4 stayed at the Sea Mist for our teenage daughter's spring break vacation, Monday through Friday in April. We checked in and received very courteous service and clear direction to our room and parking. We enter the room and quickly see that there is visible, multiple hairs on the TV dresser and counter in the bathroom as well as some sand/grit […] on the floor (vinyl hardwood). I did not call the front desk I just wiped the counters and swept with the broom provided in the room. I did not contact front desk as some would as this was a quick fix. Once later that week housekeeping did straighten our room and did not leave clean towels, just removed the dirty ones. We had to call housekeeping at 6pm to request them but they were then delivered immediately. Also, there was a $3 charge to use the water park which I was not aware of as I thought it was included in my stay - that could have easily been my mistake to read the fine print when booking the room, but it was still a little irritating to choose and then book a hotel primarily for an amenity that we then had to pay to use. Which I might also add, the lady "patrolling" the inside of the park (life guard, I guess?) was rude. My family felt the location was well situated to the Family Kingdom Park and to dining (Thorny's, other good restaurants on Kings Blvd) and easy access to the beach. We got a good rate (through Hotels.com - not directly through the hotel) and for that I will say it was adequate. Not a bad experience but we will stay at a different hotel next time. Read more

This hotel was below standards. The room was nasty and dirty. There were bugs in the rooms. Another guest told us that there cock roaches in their room. There were no staff cleaning the rooms. No close parking to the hotel, untrained and very rude staff, ghetto neighborhood and uncomfortable accommodations that left me with a stiff neck and back. Oceanfront/Cleanliness of hotel and when we complained they said there was nothing they could do and we would have to go through Hotels.com to get our concerns addressed. Rarely was there more than one person at the front desk therefore, it was always […] a long wait even if there were 2 people Hallways and elevators were filthy Rooms had substandard appliances that did not operate properly i.e freezer did not freeze at all Sliding patio door could not be locked Fire alarm had to be disassembled by me because it would go off randomly Issues reported went unfixed even though we were told someone would come and check them Beds were very uncomfortable I went to use the microwave and the microwave plate inside was so filthy I didn't even want to touch it Also, the resort attractions were not conveniently located nor easily accesible from our rooms and constantly had to fight street traffic to get to them. "Lack of Customer Service"
My stay at the Sea Mist has not been the best experience. I arrived Saturday (late) afternoon. Sunday morning I attempted to contact the front desk; finally around 2:30 I talked with someone and asked for a blow dryer as there was not one in my room. I was told I would get one just as soon as they were able to bring it to me. This is Monday afternoon […] and I am still waiting. Back up, Sunday night when I was putting my grandson to bed I noticed that he had an accident in the bed Saturday night and the sheets had not been changed; there was clearly a urine stain on the sheets. I called the front desk and asked for a blow dryer again and a change of sheets; explaining that the sheets hadn't been changed after the accident my grandson had. Three times I called the front desk and was assured that it would be there. I waited until 11:00 and then decided to go to bed. I called Monday morning and asked AGAIN for a blow dryer and also told the front desk that I had called Sunday night 3 times and never was taken care of. I also told them that I have been trying to get a blow dryer since I got here and still have not been given one. Monday afternoon I decided to go the office and get one there. I waited for over 35 minutes as one clerk clearly took her time in getting her job done. There is no organization in that office and the people coming in checking in/out where 5-6 deep and only 2 clerks working? Really? Where is customer service? Then the smart mouth security guard tried to lie and say the manager was in there; but clearly he was not. You have a poor run front desk and other areas. I realize that this is a big resort; but perhaps you need to hire more people and those that are here (i.e. security guard and front desk clerks) need to learn some customer service protocol. I can say that I will not be back to the Sea Mist and will let others know how poorly it is managed. Read more

WE ARRIVED AT 4PM AND CHECKED INTO OUR ROOM. ALTHOUGH I FELT THE ROOM WAS PRICY-IT WAS MY DAUGHTER'S 14TH B'DAY AND OUR FIRST TRIP TO MYRTLE BEACH! WHEN WE GOT TO OUR ROOM-IT WAS NOT CLEAN AT ALL. THERE WERE PREVIOUS GUESTS DIRTY ARTICLES OF CLOTHING STILL IN THE DRAWER/FLOOR, THE SHEETS/BEDLINENS HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED-(THEY WERE ALL STAINED UP WITH […] SOON TYPE OF BODILY FLUID NOT URINE, HAIR WAS ALL OVER THE LINENS, THE FLOOR UNDER THE BED HAD A PLETHERA OF DUST, HAIR AND ETC COVERING IT. NONE OF THE SURFACES WERE CLEANED AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH THE "NIGHT MANAGER" WHEN I CALL TO COMPLAIN WHEN I RETURNED TO THE HOTEL 6 HOURS LATER - TOLD ME THAT IT WAS ALREADY 30 MINUTES PASSED HIS TIME TO GET OFF WORK AND THAT "HIS HANDS WERE TIED". HE ALSO WENT ON TO SAY THAT HE DIDN'T TELL ME THAT HE WOULD CLEAN THE ROOM AND "THAT GIRL WILL BE HER TOMORROW." THERE WERE BOYS 16-19 YEARS OF AGE RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE HALLWAY YELLING AT 1AM AND URINATING OFF OF THE BALCONY ABOVE US. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THAT-THE LADY AT THE DESK THEN SAID THAT UNLESS THEY WERE TRYING TO GET IN MY ROOM-THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO ABOUT IT. "On the beach-awesome!"
I was super impressed with the cleanliness if the hotel. It was so nice to crawl into a bed that SMELL and FEEL clean. Staff were all very nice, and there was a private balcony with beach view. I was very impressed and will return!!

I wasn't sure what to expect because the reviews were less than great, but I had a pretty good experience. I unexpectedly got an ocean view room and the view was absolutely gorgeous. If I had one criticism it would be that the rooms could use a larger kitchen sink. It was extremely hard to wash he dishes with the small sink, no counter space and no […] dish drain. It had a coffeemaker and a fridge and a stove but we would have preferred a newer tv or something like that. Upon arrival I found old food in the refrigerator, called guests services for someone to remove the food and no one showed. I called back, the staff instructed me that they had no housekeeping on and told me to remove it myself. The floors were tile, when I placed a towel on the floor it came up black. Someone took the deck chairs supplied to my room […] while I was away at the beach. I had to track down a wandering maintenance person to get those replaced. Parking was near impossible. "Very Impressed"
I wasn't sure what to expect because of the price... The only complaint I have is the elevator needs upgrading. We were on the 10th floor and I have asthma so stairs were not an option. The view was beautiful the room was more than I expected and we really enjoyed our stay!

Our overall stay was very pleasant. The room seemed to be clean. Was very nice to have refrigerator etc. We also had a cot in the room. The only thing that was a problem at times, was the elevator. Sometimes it wouldnt work for us. Otherwise I would definitly stay there again!!!

"Terrible Terrible time at this place"
After having a great time at the Sleep Inn in Little River, we drove down to downtown Myrtle Beach to check in to the Sea Mist. Oh boy what a disappointment. This was the second time I had stayed at this place and thought that it would get better but it didn't. They checked me into a dirty room like the first time. But unlike the first time when they […] made me haul butt back to the office 3 separate times (because the second set of keys didn't work on the door of new room), they made me wait outside the room on the balcony while the room attendant took her time to clean it. Never mind that, one hour and a half later when we went into room we still found left over saltines and its rappers behind one bed and a half of slipper under the other the other. Then it was not the room we requested and paid for, this had no stove to cook food we took. My children were anxious to get into their water area and I did not have the energy to go back over to the office to complain. I called the front office 4 times and no one answered. We got swim suits on and only to walk over to the water park area to find out it the hours were 10am to 5pm and we did not get into the room unit 4:30pm and check out was 11am next day. We settled with going to the pool and it was mayhem. Later because we couldn't cook the food we brought, we had to go out to dinner and upon returning there was absolutely no parking. It took me 1 hour to get into a parking spot and walk back to the hotel. Only to find out next day that someone hit my car and sure enough didn't leave their information. Think we gonna try Captain's Quarters which is next door for the next trip, I have not heard or read a real bad complaint about them yet. Read more

This is a huge resort! And there is so much to do. The people were very nice a helpful. The best part is the location. The beach is so close. If your kids need to use the restroom while your on the beach you don't have to hunt one down your hotel is right there. The deck they have by the beach bar are great and perfect for afternoon naps. You can lay […] out on there chairs and not roast because the line of palm trees offers plenty of shade without blocking out the sun. The view from the rooms is wonderful, and you don't have to pay through the nose to get an ocean view. Plenty of parking, a nice gym and indoor and outdoor pools, some of which you can see the ocean from which is nice when it's pouring rain and you can't actually go down to the beach. More staff needed to maintain pool cleanlines. Our trip was wonder and our room was great.
I like the rooms and the hotel in general but the mattress was very old and the beds were very squiky.
