The hotel looks fab, it's great to have a nice complimentary breakfast, and the room was comfortable. However, on the first night I was there I reported that the floor lamp and the outlets on the desk didn't work. Unfortunately, these issues weren't addressed until I followed up with them the next day. I also found out that the room was missing a desk lamp when I checked in. And the room wasn't serviced until about 6 pm (which is unusual).

The location of the hotel is great and it is central to many of the downtown attractions. Service is also great and the hotel is in excellent condition. However, the one misleading aspect of the hotel accomodations that was an unpleasant surprise is lack of free parking. There is a parking garage available, but hotel provides only valet service and even if you decide to park on your own, the price is fairly steep for overnight rates.

I should have asked her name when she helped me find a spacious room to have breakfast and helped me to charge my digital camera battery. the location is AWESOME, near to many attractions. Don't miss the Christ Church Cathedral, which is on the opposite side of the Magnolia hotel. If i have to find faults with this hotel, it is the fact that more fruits choices are needed for breakfast.

We had preregistered and it still took us over 20 minutes to get checked in. the elevators were very slow and the 3rd one actually broke when we got on it. On the 1st go round neither of our 4 keys for 2 ooms worked. We had to go down and spend 15 more minutes getting that fixed. then I had to go up 17 flights of stairs since only 2 elevators worked. One of the reasons we picked this hotel was to enjoy the rooftop hottub. After an hour plus getting checked in we went to the rooftop to find the door to the rooftop closed at 11pm and we ere 10 minutes late, and the manager could do nothing to help. Our plans were ruined for an anniverssary evening. the place is very nice. The next day we went to the roof and it all looked great, and then we went to the complimentary breakfast that was excellent! Overall the roon and facilitys were great, but one should also be prepared for the $25 parking fee.

My husband and I needed a nice trip away for a night and I though I would surprise him. After extensive research of hotels in Houston, I found great reviews and decided to go with it! Houston downtown is not very impressive, but it is a great place to stay if you want to go to the bars or the theater as the theater district is close by. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. The club room is very nice and spacious. What interested me in the hotel was the FREE happy hour from 5:30-6:30 which includes beer, wine and soda. They also serve fresh, soft baked cookies with three different kinds of milk from 8-10 and they have a REAL continental breakfast consisting of eggs, hashbrowns, bacon as well as you usual fruits, bagals and cereals, coffee and juices. You MUST go on the rooftop. This is another perk. They have a small rooftop pool and jacuzzi but the view is AMAZING. I would recommend this hotel for this a lone! The exercise room I was also impressed with. A lot of nice machines, weights, mirrors that surrounded the room and a few TV's which is also on the rooftop just before you go outside to the pool. It was very quiet on our floor. We didn't hear any other guests. The room was very clean and we also had a nice city view from the 13th floor. The beds and pillows and sheets were VERY comfortable. The bathroom had a large garden tub. We stayed in a room with a mini kitchen which we made a steak dinner. My only complaint with that is not enough untensils and one of the burners didn't work. The only downfall is that of course being downtown is the parking. They valet for 28.00 but we opted to park ourselves at 8.00 a day. We really enjoyed our stay. It was just what we needed to get a away from "everyday life" and have a nice evening a lone with each other. I highly recommend this hotel.

I would first like to say that the highlight of our stay at Magnolia was the valet service. Those gentlemen were super professional and very good. It all went down from there. It took us a long time to get our bags, I saw them just sitting in the lobby, we checked in at a very late hour, no reason for the delay, we had to call twice to get them. A bulb was burned out in the bathroom light making it even more difficult to see in an already too dark room. The sheets were an ok thread count, however they didn't fit the mattress properly and half the mattress was showing. They also had holes in them. (The sheets). The hallway carpets were filthy, not sure about the carpet in the guest room, it was a dark color and I wore shoes the entire time. For the price of this hotel these things should not be issues. I think the management might need a review. Whoever manages the valet maybe should work on the hotel.

I was disappointed with our stay at the Magnolia Hotel. We have a Magnolia Hotel in the Downtown Dallas area which is much classier with covered parking as you drive up, so we expected the same when we arrived in Houston. When we arrived, it was pouring rain and there was no covered parking and we got drenched! The valet guys were soaked, but they did offer umbrellas to take us out of our car, but it was flooding as we stepped out of the car! The valet guys kept the spare key to our car and when we called the hotel, they said they would FedEx it to us, but it took far too long. When we called to find out the status, they said they would call us back and never did. Overall, I expected more for the price we paid and we will probably never stay there again.

The location of the hotel is fine but if you intend to drive anywhere the cost of valet is expensive in relation to other local hotels and there is limited to no parking within walking distance. The time to get a vehicle was usually 15 minutes plus so be sure to call ahead. The hotel hits you with a "delivery fee" for room service as well as a required 21% gratuity. I am a usually a generous tipper but I prefer to do it for service that is done well and not for someone who was surly as well as late who arrived with cold food. I would rate my experience "neutral" at best.

My girlfriend and I stayed here because she took me to an Astros game for my birthday in July. Took forever to check in because there were so many people there, but it's a big hotel and people come to the hotel unprepared to check in (left id/credit card in car, etc) so that's not really the hotel's fault. Anyway, the room we had was pretty big, bathroom was nice, and it was a 10 minute walk to the stadium. Went to the liquor store before the game, and the hood is about 10 minutes away also haha. It's an ok place to stay though if you're just partying and passing out.

My wife loved the fireplace located in the lobby, it added to the feeling of warmth and hospitality we felt, even though it was in the middle of summer! The room was cozy and comfortable. The only negative I would mention would be that the view of the city from our room was not the best, but if you take the time to go up to the 23rd floor where the pool is you can get all the city viewing you want, and if you are there during the summer months, maybe you will get lucky and catch an evening thunder storm, the lightning show was awesome!

This hotel is in the beautifully restored old Post-Dispatch building in downtown. It is centrally located to everything downtown and midtown, shopping, museum district, etc. are only a tram ride away. Our room was nice, I expected a little more from the hotel, but it was nice. However, the service was horrible at best. There were two large wedding parties staying at the hotel, and it was obvious that the hotel cannot accommodate large groups at any given time. There are three elevators in the hotel. Each one can only hold 8 people max. With these large groups, and everyone trying to go to breakfast or happy hour, we waited 45 minutes or more for an elevator. When we were trying to checkout, we had to go down several flights of stairs with our luggage and several other people and their luggage because of the elevator issues. When we got down to the first floor landing, we found that the door to the first floor was locked and blocked and had to go back up to the 2nd floor and go out through bar. Between 5:30 and 6:30, guests can get up to 2 free beers or wine in the bar, which is a nice feature, if you can get the bar and find a seat. Bar is nice. It feels like a lounge bar that you would find in NYC or Vegas, but with the huge groups of people, you are fighting to find a seat. Same thing goes for the free continental breakfast. It is served in the same bar in the mornings. It is a nice breakfast that you do not have to pay for, but because of the large groups there, it was impossible to get on the elevators and impossible to find a seat to eat. The other issue was that our room was never serviced by housekeeping. When we came back in the afternoon, we noticed our room was not serviced. We called the front desk to have our room serviced, their response was that housekeeping had left for the day, but they would see what could be done. Well, nothing is what actually was done. Lastly, the parking there is horrible. Like most hotels in a downtown location, you have to
