One of the worst hotels I've stayed in in Melbourne. It's part of the Eight Group of hotels, which focuses on being cheap and trendy. They've got the cheap part down pat but trendy implies the rooms are halfway decent. Not enough to make me completely comfortable. Hallways were scuffed, paint and carpets are old, bedrooms & bathrooms are in need of renovation. I had the basic room but bathrooms are by far the smallest I had stayed in. This is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed in my life!!! Before I booked this hotel, I read some reviews and they mentioned about the room size but it wasn't the size that bothered me.. it was sooooooooo dirty! The room they gave me totally smelled like urine that I couldn't even breathe so I asked the receptionist to change the room and he said it was […] the cleanser they used.. no it was coming from the carpet! He gave me the spray to cover up the bad odor but it didn't help and it got worse so I went downstairs again and the new receptionist finally admitted that people pee everywhere when they are drunk.. finally they gave me another room but every day I stayed in, their janitor didn't even clean the room/bathroom.. one day she left the dirtiest rag on the bad.. forgot to clean the bathroom .. one more thing.. if you are a little bigger than average joe, you are not gonna fit in their shower.. there's no light so it's dark and it's tiny and water sprays over their tiny curtain that you have no choice but to wet the carpet outside of their tiniest bathroom.. their vanity sink is about 11"x8.5" .. not even big enough to wash your hands. I'm only 5'8" but the bad was so short that my feet were just haning out when I was in bed.. everything was just unbelievably small so unless you are not a dwarf, don't stay here.. trust me.. you are gonna regret here.. it's the dirtiest hotel ever! Even though the hotel offer a petite rooms, bear in mind that there are really tiny rooms not very comfortable for a couple. The hotel is nice and well located. Only one day out of a week the staff forgot to clean our room.

If you are planning a budget travel, this hotel is a right choice. Good access from the airport and to the city centre. A huge food court in the crown casino centre locates within 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The price for the internet access is relatively expensive and inconvenient.

Surprisingly Pensione Hotel is very near to Southern Cross station and Tram stops and convenient stores, thus it makes our journey convenient and safe. Think many times before staying there even though it is not expensive. It is very close to a train station and the neighborhood at night is not really safe, especially for women. There are many bars around and you can find drunken men at every corner. The rooms are so small that there is no space for a decent size suitcase. First room we got was very small, second one a lot bigger but both had very very small bathrooms. Almost impossible to take a shower without getting everything wet in the bathroom. Sink´s size hardly bigger than a A4 sheet of paper.

The hotel is a very short walk right down the street from Southern Cross Station where the airport bus terminal is. It is a short walk from the big Entiad sports stadium, and is convenient to many tram lines serving the entire city, including the two circuit tourist tram and bus lines. But there is a fridge and a big flat screen TV and a small desk. Wifi is a good signal at $Aus10 a day or $1AUD per 1/3 hour. Bathroom is functional although doorless shower causes wet floor. So, this is a terrific budget hotel in a major city which is very convenient for tourists and businessmen. It is near several nightspot clubs and bars. They have a nice bar in the hotel. The hotel is on a good location, 1 block from Southern Cross Station, a small supermarket, 2 doors from 7-11. A good size room, flat screen TV, spotless. The cons: the bathroom is unusually small, even for petite people like me. The staffs are nice and polite, especially the girl who help me check in.

It was excellent but the room left a bit to be desired.The windows were sealed and I like a little air. There was only one light switch for the whole room. Bathroom was exceptionally tiny.

I love staying at the Pensione Hotel when i come for a weekend of shopping!! The rooms are compact, but for one person they are all that you need!! Great location as it is close to the Southern Cross station and the rooms are quite comfortable. As I checked in early there were no rooms available and I had to pay $65 more to get accommodated in an higher category room. Avoid checking in early before their normal check in time of 2pm. Breakfast and Internet is not free and it is expensive.
