Charming old tavern with beautiful 400 year old rooms. Above a restaurant. Parking is tricky to find as a one way system in in force. For those tired of the normal faceless boxes.

One of the best hotels we've stayed at, and we stay at a lot. Rooms, comfy;, pool/spa, amazing; breakfast delicious and filling. Quiet location, easy to find. Would stay again just for a weekend get-away.

PROS: I was competing in an event at the Capital FM Arena, and required to cook my own food for my diet. The one bedroom suite came with a fully equipped kitchen: oven, microwave, toaster, cutlery, and pots and pans. It also had a washer/dryer for clothes which was great. The living space was comfortable and like a small apartment. The apartment is literally next door to the arena and close by to grocery stores and restaurants. CONS: No A/C, and it gets hot for me at least. Had to pay for internet, which was very slow and connections would be lost for hours at a time. Staff were very courteous, but they were not that helpful. They would forget to bring towels, toilet paper, etc. and would have to be reminded several times.

The Paddock is an old style country pub with a more modern accommodation building out the back. We were going to an event at Donington Park which is less than a couple of miles away. It is a family-run "free house", meaning if you like beer, there is any amount of different types to choose from. We were there for four nights and got to know the staff a little, they are friendly, helpful and pleasant. The pub itself is quiet and relaxing with the odd sofa as well as the usual bar furniture. The television is turned on only by request and you can converse without shouting. We didn't have kids but it would be quite suitable . Breakfast was offered at "whatever time you want it". The quality of the evening meals was better than expected, as good as I have had in any pub in the UK. We ate there three nights out of four, and was impressed at the low cost as well as good quality. The area on the edge of Melbourne village is quiet and there is plenty of parking, though access to the rear is a little tricky. The first couple of nights we were there, the pub itself had no electricity (though our room at the back did) but they just carried on with hand pumps for the beer and candlelight, which was no problem at all. Quite nice in fact, and we were almost disappointed when they fixed it. Best thing about it was the food in the evening. Worst things were the cheap and flimsy fittings in the bedroom, though they did the job. Next time I go back I'll stay at the same place if I can.

The hotel was in a brilliant location only 2 minutes away from city centre but not noisy at all. The room was very comfortable with king sized bed. I was nervous about booking a hotel right next to the Rock City venue during a festival weekend b/c I was worried it'd be filled with drunks but surprisingly, it was quiet! "Will definitely come back here"
Got a really good deal on this hotel and was worried that we'd end up in the boiler room!! However, the hotel was fantastic, room was wonderful and the bed was massive and very comfy. The staff were lovely and I just can't fault it at all. I was so pleased.

Upon arrival, was greeted by a friendly member of staff at reception and was quickly checked in. Old fashioned metal key with large keyring rather than an electronic key, but not a disaster. "Needs a refit"
This hotel is looking tired & worn. The cleanliness of our room was very poor & we were moved to a slightly better room, although tiles in the bathroom were cracked, shortage of flannels on the second day, duvet cover was on inside out & the whole room needed a refit.
"Handy location for City Centre"
Room a bit small. Duvets too heavy for Summer. Corridors full of cigarette smoke. Hen parties rather noisy on Saturday night. Having said that would use the hotel if the price was right in the future. Perhaps breakfast could be included or more reasonably priced.

Solid city three star hotel, room was well equipped, clean enough, bed large, bathroom good, all generally about right for the hotel's category. "Very impressed"
I had booked this as a last minute stay as we had a wedding in Nottingham. I wanted somewhere in the centre of town so we could have a choice of places to go for dinner. "An elegant hotel"
We had a lovely welcome and efficient check-in process and found the staff friendly throughout our stay. The hotel is nice but could do with some modernisation. The room doors do not lock automatically, so you have to make sure you lock up when you go in or out. The Welbeck asks you not to take the key outside with you but to leave it at reception. […] Therefore, you have to ask for it when you return, which is a hassle and can lead to delays (although we were not kept waiting). I would be much happier with plastic key cards. They avoid all these problems and improve security. However, the rooms are well equipped, the bed was big and very comfortable and the temperature of the room could be easily adjusted. In addition, both the bedroom and bathroom were of decent sizes and there was plenty of wardrobe/drawer/cupboard space. We felt fully able to relax and we were impressed by the vast array of television channels. They provide a shower mat but this was discoloured and seemed unnecessary as the bath had a non-slip surface at the shower end anyway. I think the bathroom could have been maintained better but the bedroom was good. Talbot Street is not the nicest of streets but it is actually a good location, within easy reach of everything you could want in the city, including the tram link to the railway station. Good: Central location one block behind Crowne Plaza, Secure car park next door, On a side street, Good double glazing and a/c meant a quiet night, Good power shower, Good quality mattress and pillows. Twin room with two single beds meant there was room to move around (Crowne Plaza rooms small by comparison). Bad: Car park discount not given; reception […] reprogrammed parking ticket but discount not recognised my machine. Hotel and car park then both apparently unable to do anything about it. Hotel said £5 would be discounted from overnight 10-24h fee (£14). Car park said only discount was on fee from 5pm to 9am! "Fab weekend"
Hotel was without fault, it was brilliant, perfect place for concerts and shops and pubs. Only slight issue would be the parking, it's quite costly at the car park over the road, so be warned, but brill apart from that.

For the price I paid, this hotel was great. Perfect location - just minutes away from the city center and all the attractions. I checked in about 3 hours early and they were happy to accommodate me; unfortunately the non smoking room I requested was not available. Still, the hotel was great. Stayed here after seeing a show at Royal Centre, picked it because of its location which is 3 mins walk away. Probably a nice hotel in its day but a little run down now, cupboard doors almost falling off when you open them, that sort of thing. Also attention to detail could be better, I asked for an iron and ironing board which they delivered promptly, […] however the ironing board cover was a disgrace, dirty and thread bare! "Beware of miscrants"
The smoke alarm was deliberately set off intermitently more than 10 times in different wings of the hotel in one night as I later understand by some miscrants. Chaps in the room next door to us were having loud chats and noisy throughout the night. I was with my 10 year old daughter who vowed never to stay in the hotel again whenever we are in town. I went for a weekend break with the my partner and we both agree that for a city centre hotel the decor is dated but in relativley good condition and clean. The room itself was clean and welcoming. The Welbeck hotel is perfectly located closed to the city center and about 20min by walk form the train station. We only stay there for one night on a Saturday night. The room was clean and the staff very polite. I would definitely recommend this hotel as it is a very good value for money.

Il personale è stato molto gentile e ci ha supportato in ogni necessità. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è ottimo. L'hotel è vicino al centro e quindi anche molto comodo. Le camere sono ampie e pulite.

J'ai effectué 2 séjours de 2 nuits dans cet hôtel et à chaque fois mon séjour s'est très bien passé. L'hôtel est situé proche du centre ville et des transports en communs. Le rapport qualité/prix est très bon! Je recommande cet hôtel!
