Dubai’s closest neighbour, Sharjah is the third-largest Emirate. Oil and natural gas changed the fortunes of this old sheikhdom, and UNESCO declared it ‘cultural capital of the Arab world’ in 1998. Historic buildings rub shoulders with striking modern architecture, while rugs, cosmetics and jewellery are all on sale at the Blue Souk. Visitors should note that Sharjah is more conservative than Dubai, (no alcohol or revealing clothing).

"Underbar privat hotellstrand"

Underbar och välorganiserat privat strandområde med både bra bad i hav och pool. Bra att det fanns en del av stranden för bara vuxna så att man kunde ligga i skuggan under sin parasoll i lugn och ro utan stoj och stim. Frukostbuffén vara bra men inte femstjärnig, utbudet kunde ha varit större och personalen var dålig på att rensa borden. Dock väldigt härlig miljö om man lyckades få bord intill den mysiga fontänen och de härliga regnskogsaktiga träden. Också bra (lång) frukosttid: 06-11. Härlig ljus lobby med mycket högt i tak och stora gröna växter ("regnskogsatrium"). Bra gratis transferbussar intill Dubai City, kunde dock ha haft fler avgångar än som nu kl. 10, 13, 16 och 21. Bra taxiservice till flygplatsen. Rummen stora men murriga och få möbler. Fin havsutsikt. Stort serviceutbud.

"Goed hotel met "drankprobleem""

Goed hotel met goede prijs/prestatie verhouding. Hotel ligt in het Emiraat Sarjha wat streng is t.o.v. alcohol. In Dubai hebben de hotels in de meeste gevallen een vergunning voor het verkopen van alcoholische drank. Voor alle hotels in Sarjha is dit verboden. In het emiraat Ashman, vier kilometer verderop is de wetgeving minder streng. Om in Dubai te komen zonder file neemt 30 minuten met een taxi (zijn niet duur), met file kan het snel 90 minuten vergen (taxi nog steeds niet duur omdat deze op gereden afstand meten, taxi chauffeur wordt echter wat chagrijnig).
