"Not the best stay, will never come back"
For starters I do have to say that most of the staff at this resort were helpful for example Nathaneal from the front desk and bertis from the buffet staff. To begin this hotel does not keep their beach clean, they allow all the seaweed to pile up, i stayed at a different resort last year and they keep their beach nice and clean. They had some ridiculous rule that I could only get towels for the pool and beach after 1pm, unless I was "VIP" then I would be able to get them starting at 7am and throughout the day. I didn't have a problem making reservations for the restaurants except that they never really had availability where we wanted to eat. We got reservations at their Brazilian restaurant and the food was horrible and plain nasty!!! On top of that the staff at that particular restaurant was rude and condescending when we arrived and didn't believe we had a reservation because we were a party of 6, food was so bad we ended up eating at a buffet. On the other hand the food at the buffet was good and they had variety everyday, we didn't eat the same thing twice. The pool was decent but the swim up bar staff was nice but very unenthusiastic. They really didn't know much about drinks and seem not to be really happy with their jobs. The room was ok very outdated. When we got their non of our refrigerators were filled we had to go to front desk and ask for water and drinks. they have outside vendors that don't take no for an answer,aggressive.

"Dont Recomend this hotel"
No free internet in the lobby.You have to pay $30 for internet Buffet way too small with same food every day Power lost and no AC in the room for (1) night No water in the room for (1) night and (1) afternoon. Hotel staff not that friendly Italian Restaurant :Worst restaurant ever in Punta Cana,white wine was hot!!! waiting for food for more than 1 hour We found bad food in the buffet, came home with upset stomach and diarrhea. Pool with so many people and dirty. Not ALL inclusive ( Lobster is not included, sea food is not included,clinic is not included, some wines are not included) No ham at all anywhere No french fries in the buffet The worst pizza ever !!! Gonna start a complaint with Expedia to have some of my money back

The food was ok i was not ok that i.needed.to make reservations for.the next day to eat at restaurants that are supposedly included in thw package deal i understand due to limited space but a full day in advance and have to make reservations between 7am and noon is a bit early. The food wasnt that great at any of the restaurants how ever the service by all the staff was outstanding.

Hotel staff not too accommodating.... Restaurant reservations was tough to make even though they were empty... Didn't make sense.... Good selection was not that great... Resort daily got crowded with locals...

"Relaxing"
Overall we had a good time. We just wished there was more to do on the resort. We did have a lot of sea weed built up on the beach so sometimes swimming in the ocean wasn't so much fun.

"Rooms disaster."
we had 2 rooms in one room the sink in the bathroom pipes exploded and the power in that room went out. Took them forever to transfer us into a new room. In the 2nd room the pipes were leaking and it took them 2 days to come and fix it. As well as 1 day the room was not cleaned at all and finally when it did get cleaned at 9pm she just opened it and walked in and started cleaning while we were sleeping. Workers do not speak English well so when we asked the cleaning lady to come back later on in the day (she came the first day at 730am) she didn't understand and came back at 8am. Otherwise everything else was cool.

This was our first all inclusive, so I don't have much to compare it to, but it was really nice. The food wasn't great, but I've heard that about a lot of resorts in the Dominican. The workers spoke enough English to get by, which was all that I expected due to the fact that we were not in an English speaking country

"Nice hotel for the price"
The check-in staff was very friendly and accomodated us nicely when we explained we were celebrating our anniversary. The room we got was nice, although the patio door would not open and our mini bar wasn't stocked. We reported the door when we went to dinner, but had to call a 2nd time the next afternoon - after which a maintenance man came within minutes and took care of that and a squeaky hinge on the entry door. Our room was not cleaned on the 2nd day, despite us having our "Clean" sign out starting at 8:30 a.m. When we returned to the room at 3 p.m. for a nap, the maid was 2 doors down and said it would be done in about an hour. We told her not to bother, but asked for drinking water, which she provided. Our mini bar was not ever stocked during our stay and had we not asked for the water, we would have had to ask for more. If anything was lacking, it was the maid service - attention to detail (replenished coffee, but didn't empty/clean the pot?, minibar stocking) and timing. Overall, the grounds were well kept, the restaurants offered many selections (wouldn't recommend the Rodizio - food overcooked, service just mediocre), and the staff, in general, quite good. For the price, we were happy with the overall experience.

"Hated it"
Beach was covered in rotting seaweed. Mini fridge was frosted over. Door to room was broken like someone had tried to break in. Food was not edible. Beach was unusable. Pool smelled like pee probably because of too many drunk people. We left and want to a better resort. Forced to stay 1 night.

"Very nice close to the beach."

Staff was very lazy. Could careless about explaining things or helping you in anyway. Their favorite phrase was NO ENGLISH. Entertainment was boring. Activities were fun and the people who run them do know English or at least some English and were very helpful.

"Nice Hotel near beach"
This hotel is good NOT great. My gf & I stayed 5 nights. The pool bar and restaurants are good. The pool could've been a little cleaner. We never had to wait for service. The staff are very friendly, the hotel was filled with 17 & 18 year olds the week we stayed not the hotels fault but it was interesting.

"Will not be back to this Resort!"
I stood here for 6 nights with my family. When we arrived the front desk agents, were rude and preoccupied. The room we received smelled like mold and looked dirty. The resort is outdated and rooms are old, and need to be updated. We told the front desk about the condition of our room and they said we could be moved for an additional fee. The second room was larger and better but still smelled like mold and air conditioner and the jacuzzi did not work properly. The sofa was dirty and broken. The resort was full of many teenage groups being disruptive and loud. The pool area was taken over by the drunk teenagers and made it difficult to enjoy. This beach had ton of seaweed not good to swim in either.

This would have higher ratings but this particular resort is not really child friendly nor vegan friendly. Next time I'll have to do better research. Also, during this month there are various high school graduate groups. I think the freedom with alcohol changed the dynamics of the resort.

"Needs updating and repairs"
The resort is close to the beach and our room had a great view, but the room needs some major updates and repairs. From the air conditioning system that is extremely loud and has only one setting, to the wall sockets, some of which had no power. Limited toiletries. ..just soap and shower cap and no wash cloths. The mirrors had black spots, the floors were cracked and the sink was chipped. There are eight bars and several restaurants (but you have to make reservations to eat in them except for the buffet) If you miss breakfast, lunch, or dinner times, you have to eat at the snack areas with either pizza or burgers and hot dogs if they are open.

"Nice view but filthy resort!"
We had the honeymoon ocean front suite. It was a nice view, but the room was filthy! I'm not sure they even cleaned before we arrived. The staff was very demanding and intrusive. The food was disgusting. Would not recommend this hotel.

"Very Relaxing"
Our first time here. We really loved our vacation here. Staff cannot do enough for you. They want to please. Lots of food choices. Beach is beautiful, pools are great, customer service staff was extremely helpful. Casino was small but very nice atmosphere. Bartender excellent and bar waitress. Had a fabulous time. All inclusive was a big plus. Lots to do, lots of wonderful staff from the front end, bartenders, waitresses, busboys, etc. everyone was so friendly, resort was clean and relax full with a peaceful feel of tropic vacation. Don't leave resort unless on an excursion. Lots of things to do in resort as well as excursions. We will be going back next year because we loved it so very much. Best vacation ever

"Not coming back"
We are not picky when it comes to room comfort. We had beach view buy the bed was uncomfortable. The room was good size. The restroom was a disaster. Toilet way to close to the sink, basically under the sink. No room at all to move. Poor layout.

"Location was great!"
We have stayed at other Barceló resorts in other countries. We will continue to remain loyal to Barceló hotels however we had a couple complaints. When we arrived for check in our room was going to need 30 minutes which was fine. We ventured around the resort and proceeded to our room 1 HOUR later. Our room had no towels, the shower had not been cleaned recently, and we had to ask for them to bring the additional twin bed in that we had already requested. They jumped right on this and all was good going forward with the room. We had a villa that had two bathrooms and a bedroom. The beach, pools, food, etc. was all only a short distance. We had a view of the ocean from our master bedroom balcony and a pool/garden view from our living room balcony. People were great, the activities were great! The food at the buffet is so-so! The only meal we EVER enjoyed at the buffet was breakfast! We mad reservations every night but make sure you make the early morning to get the places you want to eat (this is included in all inclusive). Overall we recommend the hotel!

"Nice hotel, nice location, TERRIBLE FOOD"
The pools and beach facilities are great. The rooms are ok, is a big complex so you have to walk a lot. However for an All Inclusive expirience the food is terrible, especially the breakfast. The buffet is without a doubt the worse buffet i've ever been. The snacks are ok but you wont eat 3 times in a row the same hot dog or burger. The specialty restaurants is impossible for you to book the same day, and many days we did book for the next day and the reservations got lost, or we simply couldnt get in. Those restaurants are really small. Don't bother booking the BUGGY ADVENTURE on the front desk(or anywhere on Punta Cana, since is available in all the hotels), is a scam. We were told it was a 4hr buggy/atv ride. We spent 1 1/2 hrs on the back of a truck with no AC, no seatbelts no nothing, and when we finally got there it was a wait of at least another hour, the Buggies where old and not in good shape. When we finally had it and asked for our money back, it was difficult and we had to fight to make them return our money and return ourselves to the hotel. If you can, stay at HARD ROCK. We ended going every night to the disco there and to eat. Won't come back to this hotel, and woulndn't recommend it to anyone. Plus is far away from anything, so taxis are expensive!

"Nice beach- bad rooms"
I like the beach and the area but the rooms were very bad, not clean and we always have to complain in front desk about changing towels. Food not sow good also. Almost every day the same. We have only 1 buffet open but should be 3 buffets. Staff not friendly and speak only Spanish. Most of the time we coudn't understand anything. We will never came back and don't recommend it to anybody!

"awful Rooms"
staff was great and very friendly but the rooms were gross and the bathrooms. Smelled so bad. Room was humid curtains were not cleaned, ac did not work well, got sick from the food too. Do not drink the water or ice in your drinks there as you will get sick. The shows and entertainment was great but the rooms were terrible.

Rooms are awful, no elevators in old rooms, most of the staff ignores you. This is not like the other Barcelona resort I have been too. The resort beach and pool is the only nice thing. Food is bland and the same each day

"My great vacations"
I stayed for 6 nights and I liked a lot the hotel facilities, the staff at the front desk were so friendly as well as The maintenance and restaurants staff. The room was clean and comfortable and the beach clean and there is a lifesaver on duty during day time. They have 6 restaurants, but I liked better the Palmasol buffet restaurant, the food is ok and the waiters were amazing they were very friendly and so serviceable that surprised me especially Miss Cenny and Mr. Carlos Obispo. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Barceló Dominican Beach Hotel.

"Lower class of hotels"
We stayed at Barcelo Dominican Beach for 6 nights. It was an okay hotel. It wasn't necessarily bad, just nothing special at all. Beware, do NOT come on the weekends. We stayed Weds-Tuesday. During the week it was nice and relaxing, and on the weekend it was like they bussed in all the locals for day passes. The pools were packed with rowdy kids. I've never seen so many 6-10 year old kids "twerk" in my life and it was a little disturbing. Late afternoon the public bathrooms were completely filled with young girls with their makeup and clothes scattered all over the counter tops getting ready for the night. This is how we figured out they must just come for the day on the weekends. I would not come on the weekend again. We stayed in building 7, which was a renovated room. I am scared to see what the un-renovated rooms look like. However the cleaning staff was very good and always leaving us with a clean room, clean towels and a stocked fridge of water and pop. The drinks were good, however you have to know what you want as they do not have any mixed drink menus. The staff was very friendly, except they barely spoke english. If we did not have our spanish speaking friend with us, we would be lost. This is a resort definitely aimed at more south americans rather than Americans as all of the shows, etc were not in english either. All of the restaurants were very good except for Brazilian I would not recommend. Buffet was ok but repetitive. Snack bars were terrible.

So we were very surprised the rooms were very old furniture very old beds and very bad condition over all and we stayed in a mid grade room , beach was nice and wether and the staff that's it . as for resort not worth the money

Overall it was excellent! Next time we go back to D.R, we're definitely staying over in Barcelo Dominican Beach again. There were lots of activities to do during the day, great entertainment during the night, and overall the staff and the food was great.
