"Unbeatable location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
One of the best locations you'll ever find for any hotel. Renaissance is very close to everything you want to do in Baltimore. The hotel is in excellent condition and in good repair. There is some hall noise in the room, that you don't expect from a hotel of this quality, but overall a great experience.
"Proximity to all St.Michaels activities"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
I booked several rooms for family members who flew in from the mid-west for a wedding located in St. Michaels. The hotel was close in proximity to the wedding location, many of the activities in St. Michaels including shops and restaurants and the wine tasting festival which happened to take place the same weekend as the wedding. The room rates were excellent, my guests mentioned that the rooms were clean and comfortable and they enjoyed the breakfast which was included with the rooms.

This hotel is amazing very modern and sleek. My only problem was the food is VERY expensive, although it was my night so I didn't mind splurging.

It was my first time at Aloft. My overall experience was great the people are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. The only compliant I have is the public bathroom needed some attention. I know females can be sloppy and it's hard to stay on top of a high traffic area. Other than that I was VERY pleased. I will come back to the hotel in the future.

"Not worth the price"
I was surprised that the price was the same as the Westin, though the quality did not compare-- the air conditioner woke us hourly with a bang as it cycled on. Completely unacceptable. I must say I appreciated the strict noise policy, though I wish it encompassed the facility itself!
"Lovely hotel in a convenient location"
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. It's a short walk from the center of historic Annapolis and there is a circulating city bus for people who don't want to make the 10-minute walk. Our only slightly negative comments would be that the room was somewhat small and that there was a limited selection of television stations (e.g., only one PBS station when […] Annapolis can easily get WETA and MPT.) Overall, though, this is a very nice hotel in an interesting neighborhood. Also, management takes great care to explain the noise policy and assure guests checking in that it is enforced. And, of course, the bar has Guinness on tap! Read more
"Not very comfortable...quite loud."
The bed was QUITE uncomfortable so neither my husband nor I slept at all. Not to mention, the a/c in the room was SO loud that even if we had dozed off, it would wake us up every time it came on.

"great value, especially breakfast"
I attended a 5 day conference in a nearby hotel. The room was very clean and the breakfast was great. I parked my car in the $5 per day parking garage across the street rather than hotel $18 per day valet service which worked out great. Bathroom was a little small for my wife and I but it was okay. Beds very comfortable.

"O'Callahan in Annapolis - My first pick!"
This is my 3rd stay at O'Callahans. I was disappointed to find out that they didn't offer the complimentary shuttle this year as they did last. There is a trolley that runs regulary to all the downtown popular spots, such as #1 Fado (actually north of the hotel), #2 Castlebay (owner very friendly), and #3 O'Briens (best irish coffee every!!!. The hotel […] was very clean and very nice. They met our every need. Read more
"a good deal at a discounted price"
This hotel was absolutely fine to stay for a night or two. It was clean and I felt perfectly safe walking to it from a concert a few blocks away after midnight. I only have 2 complaints: 1. I personally did not find the bed or pillows comfortable. Both were too soft to the point that I woke up several time just trying to find a comfortable position. […] The room did have firmer pillows on the bed, but they seem designed to lean back on when sitting on the bed and were just too big to be used to sleep with. 2. The soup we ordered from room service showed up quickly, but ice cold. It was MD crab soup. This is only a minor issue, and it was off the hotel's late night menu, but I was surprised they didn't at least throw it in the microwave for a minute or two. We got this room at a substantial discount from the usual price, so I'm satisfied with my stay based on that. I would not pay the full price for a room at this hotel. Read more
A Real Treat. Very nice - elegant rooms.

"Near USNA but why charge $18 for parking?"
We go to Annapolis at least once a month now to visit our son at the United States Naval Academy. We enjoy spending time in this beautiful area and we have been pleased with most of the hotels that we have stayed at. We were pleased with the comfort of the room and the beds were comfortable enough. We realized we receved a better price through hotel.com, […] but it still didn't justify the parking fee and a charge for coffee in the morning. Most hotels supply free coffee (if not breakfast) for their guests. Read more

"Great Hotel And Experience"
Drinks could use a little more booze. Especially for the price but other than that great hotel
"O'Callagan Annapolis"
Neat Hotel. Not a cookie cutter chain. Nice Bar downstairs with Guiness and Smittys on tap. Real wood in the hall. 4th floor, where we stayed, has nice bathroom if you need it. Guys will appreciate it. Close to Stan & Joes, Rams Head heading to downtown; the Whiskey if you want to go west is about a mile. Parking is 18 bucks, but that is Naptown. Cool […] hotel, decent rate too. Read more
"Free shuttle service"
Great shuttle service to downtown! Also enjoyed the hotel bar.
"great hotel! only bad thing was the bed!"
This hotel was great overall. However, the bed was terrible! They need to invest on some better matresses.
"O'Callaghan Hotel"
For starters, the hotel was closed when I got there - - YES - - CLOSED! Called and was told they had closed for the holiday (OKAY BUT ADVANCE WARNING WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE); said they would be opening at 3PM, and suggested we PARK THE CAR IN THE PAID PARKING GARAGE ACROSS THE STREET (not in their EMPTY garage) AND WALK AROUND THE CITY FOR AWHILE!?!? […] Okay - - get into room which was pictured with an easy chair - - there are two of us and all we have is ONE little leather 'poker' chair. Even though there is room for full-sized couch and coffee table! Knowing they had more of these chairs in the restaurant, which was CLOSED MOST OF THE TIME even though we were told there was 24 HOUR ROOM SERVICE AVAILABLE, we called the front desk to ask if there was another chair available. The response was an unequivocal, 'No, I dont' think so'. Tried calling the 24 HOUR Room Service but got no answer! Didn't have a menu in our room , went down to ask for one and was told it would be brought up later, but NADA! Of course, I realized later this was because the 24 HOUR ROOM SERVICE did not exist. Thermostat in room would not go below 65 and you couldn't even turn the fan on without the system blowing what felt like 80 degree heat out. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this one. I've gotten far better service from for way less money from roadside lodges One positive note, the cleaning staff were great.. Read more
"O'Callaghan Annapolis Hotel - gem of Annapolis"
I've stayed at this hotel before. The staff are friendly, the place is very convenient to City Docks (Annapolis' tourist center) and relatively a safe area.

"Great place to stay in Annapolis"
The hotel was convenient and within walking distance of historic Annapolis and the Academy. The valet parking was also very nice and the the cost of both hotel and valet were most reasonable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay.
Had a wonderful stay and would absolutely stay and recommend this hotel to friends! The staff went over and above normal service.
"Not a comfortable stay"
Refrigerator was making the loud weird noises all night and I was too tired to change rooms so just had to take the plug off, Next horrible thing I realised later in the night is about the AC apart from being noisy it was unable to maintain the room temperature. Overall a very uncomfortable stay.
"good location - nice property"
nice hotel in town, convenient location with free shuttle to restaurants, sights, etc. missed the free continental breakfast of other hotels, but that is the only negative.

Comfortable beds. Friendly staff, restaurant was good for cocktails and snacks we didn't use it for meals. Shuttle service was timely.

"Good, not great"
Best front desk service I've encountered in years. Very comfortable bed -- good nights' sleep. Internet service was excellent. Breakfast buffet ($10) & hotel bar were also very good. Bathroom in our room had been sloppily remodeled or not well maintained. Also, toilet overflowed (without "provocation"); hotel was responsive to fix.
"callahan annapolis"
The front desk person was not very helpful and not very friendly. However,Garrett a bell hop was outstanding. He was always friendly helpful and wiling to go the extra mile.
"O'Callaghan- Nice rooms, convenient location"
The rooms are really nice and charming and clean. We would definitely stay there again, but there are a few things to take into consideration. Parking: You can pay $18 for valet, but you can also pay $5 down the street. When you park valet, you may end up waiting 10 mins for the hotel staff to get your carbecause they give that duty to the front desk […] person between certain hours. So if there are a lot of people waiting to check in and you need to leave- you'll be sitting on the sidelines for a few minutes. The hotel is within walking distance (a little less than a mile) from shops and the inner harbor area. They must be doing construction there or next door because our view was of a dumpster that was directly underneath our window- not quite the view we had hoped for. Overall, a really nice stay. "O'Callaghans A Good Option but..."
It's close to the other major hotels in Annapolis. The amenities are fine. The biggest problem is NO WIRELESS in the room. That is a problem. They will tell you it's coming soon but it really isn't and they have no date. This is really a problem. If you can get away without it then this is an okay option.
"I can't go back to this one."
Everything about the location, look and nice staff was wonderful until we opened the door to our room and took a breath. Seriously, whatever deodorizing spray was used was completely overpowering. We had an event to get to so we left the window open and hoped it would get better by the time we got back. It wasn' t. Beautiful bed and bedding, quiet, […] pretty and clean. Wish I could recommend. "Great price - average stay"
They say that this hotel is in the historic district of Annapolis, and maybe it is, but it is at the FAR opposite edge of that district. If you don't mind walking, then it's fine. They also have complimentary shuttle service around the area - which was nice. The staff was just average, not overly friendly, but got the job done. The room was very clean […] and the hotel is quiet, which is nice. Our stay was fine, but I wouldn't stay there again. Read more
"O'Callagans Annapolis Hotel"
After a long day of travel this was a warm and wellcoming place from the Parking attendent to the desk clerk the staff were very professional. There is some very fine dinning with in walking distance of the hotel.and the historic district is very close.
"The oCallahan Hotel in Annapolis, MD"
Convenient hotel, rooms comfortable. a little overpriced for what you get especially the $18/day parking charge. Staff was courteous and friendly.
"The O'Callaghan Annapolis Hotel"
Within walking distance of must-see sights, including visitor's center to begin tours. Very clean and comfortable. Disappointed with the high per-night charge to park the car at the hotel.

"Really nice place to stay"
My girlfriend and I spent a few days at this hotel to Take in the sites of Annapolis (August 1-4). The weather was really hot and luckily the room had great air conditioning. For an older hotel it was surprisingly clean. The $18.00 a day parking is a bit pricey but in my opinion well worth it. I really liked the safe in my room I could leave and not […] worry about leaving cash or jewelry behind. There is a bunch of good restaurants and bars in walking distance from the hotel. There is also transportation called e-cruisers you just give them a call and they come in 8 passenger electric golf carts. The ride is free but I found that by the time I was done tipping the drivers I might as well have taken a cab Read more
"Hotel Ocallaghan is pleasant"
pleasant accommodations - helpful employees and a good nights rest. Nothing over the top.
"Feel similar to the other reviews"
The other reviews with the same rating were pretty accurate. Generally good all around but don't pay too much for it. Nothing special but everything you want is there.
"Great location but older hotel"
O'Callaghan Hotel is right in the downtown Annapolis area. You're within walking distance to shops, lots of great restaurants, the water and a bunch of really neat historic areas. The hotel itself was only so so. It's an orlder hotel so it lacks some of the nicer ammenities that the newer hotels have. The TV was small and had about a dozen channels. […] The room was large but there was hardly any furniture in it. We had to sit on the bed because the chair was not very comfortable (it's basically meant to be a desk chair). The hotel and the room were nice and clean and the staff was really great. Overall it's not a bad place to stay at all and it was more affordable than some of the other hotels we looked at. Read more
"O'Callaghans Annapolis Hotel, Irish hospitality"
Queen size beds, crisp white sheets, fluffy pillows and comforters, great night's sleep! Irish hospitality in America. In the historic district,2 mile walk to the waterfront and Annapolis Naval Academy. The fitness center was small, no weights only treadmills, a bike, and elliptical. Only valet parking allowed, $18.00 a day. They did allow us to leave […] our truck there after we checked out for the whole day. Read more
