We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service.

Room was good - a great value for the price! Just a few minor complaints - TV remote didn't work; a little noisy late at night (Saturday night; we were next to the elevator). Beds: very comfortable. Pillows, not so much (overly firm). Bathroom small but clean, bath/shower good, water pressure and temperature fine. Nice pool, adequate gym. Convenient in/out parking, reduced price with hotel validation. Front desk staff: helpful and polite.

Location.
The Marriott Chateau Champlain is located in downtown Montréal, Canada, one block from Bell Centre and three blocks from Saint Catherine Street shops. This property is directly connected to the subway system and Montréal's 24 kilometers of underground shops.

"Great Location, broken shower"
Hotel is nice and located in a great area. Our shower was broken when took 2 hours to fix. The onsite plumber (Gee) was great and had to replace virtually everything. As a Marriott Elite member, little irritated that management never asked about, apologized or offered anything for the inconvenience.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Room was nicely decorated with beautiful view but on the small side. Not optimal for two adults and two teens - but doable. Nice gym and pool. We were awakened on two mornings by the pounding of jackhammers (I would guess) and the smell of paint (confirmed by the front desk). The floor directly below us is part of an ongoing […] renovation we learned. Desk staff person was apologetic and said we should have asked to be relocated. We didn't want to bother moving all of our belongings. Maid wrote us a sweet note each day to thank us for our gratuity. Now that's a first! Overall, hotel was a good value. Read more
"Get off the train and you're there!"
We're two older friends seeing Montreal for the first time. The hotel was clean - most important to us. Our large panoramic window looking over the city was beautiful. Clean bathroom with nice shower and lots of hot water. Could have used another bath towel - they give you 3. You're not in the heart of things, location wise, but for us it was good. […] We're walkers, and the location was mid-way between the Old City and the museum of Fine Arts, two things on our "must see" list. We took the train from the states and it was an easy couple of blocks from Gare Central. We discovered you don't even have to walk outside - not only was the station accessible by tunnel from the lobby, but so were the Metro and the Underground city. The gym was clean and modern, with all the machines I'm used to. The pool looked pretty but we were too busy to use it. There is an ATM in the lobby as well as a nice place for muffins, yogurt and coffee for a quick breakfast before sightseeing. They charge to use the hotel computer, so my friend opted not to check her e-mails. Read more

Very nice hotel, but after a long day sightseeing the city we came back in the afternoon to a messy room with wet towels as they didn't service the room. We had to call housekeeping for them to send someone to bring clean towels etc. Then the day we were leaving even though check out time is labeled and we confirmed it, starting at 10am the maid kept […] knocking on our door and stood outside waiting for us to leave. Beautiful hotel and absolutely great location. View from the room was spectacular. Our only complaint was with the housekeeping schedule. When we arrived, there was no toilet tissue. We called and it was brought right up. The next day, we went out for the morning and early afternoon. We went back to our room at about 3:00 to find the room was not cleaned […] yet. We had to call again and they came up to clean it. The last day, the maid walked in at 8:00 AM and we were just waking up! She waited in the hallway and kept trying to come in until we put the "do no disturb" sign out! We hurriedly got ready and checked out at 10:00 even though check-out was 12 noon. Read more

"Tired"
The Hotel looks like it was once a nice hotel but now just looks old and tired. The bed linens had holes, the bathroom looked old and used and the decor needs renovation. Definetely not a 4 stars.

located in the heart of the city. wonderful view of downtown. access to the metro from the hotel lobby. close to shopping and dining. you will not be disappointed.

The location is great, it is walking distance to many things and the staff is super friendly. The decor is a little dated but beds were still comfortable and atmosphere was nice. There is a starbucks right in the lobby of the hotel which is super convenient.

Beautiful building a short walk from most of everything. Needs thorough remodelling(new bathrooms!). Needs more friendly employees(bell boy was an exception; he was helpful and nice) and better cleaning too. In present condition and service it is a 3 star hotel.

I stayed here on a business trip for 5 days. Service was excellent. Very good breakfast, lots of choice. Decor needs an upgrade however - looks about 20 years old. Swimming pool area could also do with some modernising. Nonetheless a comfortable and friendly hotel (despite being a large hotel) in a good location for everything in Montreal

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location. Luxury bedding. We have stayed here many times. Only problem this time was that the hotel does not own the parking garage anymore so you have to pay on your way out in the garage. Should have been told to pre-pay the parking garage fee in the self service machine PRIOR to getting the car. This is new since […] our last visit which caused chaos with cars lining up to get out of the garage. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay! Read more

We had the best service ever. More than expected. Every staff person we dealth with made us feel as if we were the only customers there. It's funny to say that the quality of the water was amazing because most of hotels I go in, my skin does not like the water... We have decided that we will only stay at the Marriot Hotel each time we go to Montréal. […] Its only a 5 minutes walk to the train station and 5 minutes walk to the Bell center and only 10 minutes from St-Catherine... I already suggested the Marriot to many of my friends... Thanks! Curved glass windows and the tallest hotel in the city. Makes up for tiny bathroom and crappy over-priced breakfast.

The hotel room was spacious and clean and offered a great view. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. This is the second time we have stayed here and will do so again.
