"Very good hotel, would stay there again"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 25, 2013
This hotel was old and seemed to be in the process of some renovations in the lobby. The bathrooms were small and our biggest complaint was the radiator heat. Since there was no thermostat or way to control the temperature in the room it got very hot over night. Other than these little complaints the hotel was great. The beds were very comfortable, the parking was pretty easy for a city and the front desk staff was friendly.

Excellent airport option.
"Good Choice for Montreal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 23, 2013
Great hotel! The front desk was helpful and patient. The room was large and very comfortable. The hotel made parking easy and is located near the Metro which made exploring the city convenient. Overall this is a great hotel and we would stay there again.
"Clean and pleasing with few glitches"
Generally very good appearance and cleanliness, but difficulties with the air conditioning not working, with it being hot, made it difficult to sleep.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not great for a family"
I was dissappointed with the size of the room and beds. The bathroom was so small that you couldn't close the door unless you climbed into the tub first. There was not enough room in there to move and around. The men at the front door nor anyone at the front desk offered to help me with my luggage or offer to open the door for me, i had two kids with […] me and i had to carry my own luggage up the steps and into the hotel and they just looked at me and didn't even offer at least to hold the door open. They also didn't pay me any mind when later i asked for help getting a taxi. The front desk didn't give any instructions on the location and how to access the pool and Gym. "Cheap hotel not provide any water in room"
This hotel is cheap not provide any bottle water, even I asked. Should I always drink beer in mini bar? The both room is small, you have close the door to access the bath tube. Never stay this hotel again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Downtown Montreal"
The room was very clean. We asked for and received a high floor (26th) and a park view. The view was SO good my wife insisted we sleep with the curtains open the first night, and the neon lights were wonderful. Having an elevator from the hotel lobby to the Metro was VERY convenient. The hotel staff was very helpful, except for the parking valet, who […] was pushy and annoying. We parked at a nearby 24 hour lot just tow blocks away for $15 Canadian a day. My nine year old daughter told the chef at Bistro Duo D, just one kilometer away that it was the BEST meal she had EVER had. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worthy of its Four Star Rating"
Great location with the Bonaventure Metro connection just an elevator ride from the hotel's lobby and the Airport express bus stop two short blocks away. First-rate lobby and cleaning staff. Comfortable room with recent furnishings updates and a great city view. Hotel pool is indoors and small (not a lap pool). Two small issues: 1) The fan motor that […] engages for the air conditioning for the room was noticeable but when turning on and off the sound was not sufficient to cause sleep interruption. 2) Annoying GE clock radio located bedside with no noticeable control to turn the alarm off so beware of its setting for your first morning or you will be awaken at the time the last guest that occupied the room set it if you do not reset it. "Great stay!"

"Good hotel"
Good location, very friendly staff, clean bathrooms. The only problem was the airconditioning in our room - very, very noisy; had to turn it off; it was impossible to sleep otherwise.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is ideally suited for business travelers: it's a stone's throw from the train station and accessible above or below ground from there, and it appears to be located in the downtown business district of Montreal. I'd seen other areas of Montreal before (and was only staying one night), but I might suggest a more tourist-friendly location for […] a vacation visitor. My room service dinner was excellent. The room decor itself had a nice retro-chic "Mad Men" feel to it that I enjoyed--lots of "harvest gold" everywhere. That said, the curved window wall in my room, while offering gorgeous views, heated the room up like a greenhouse on a sunny day, and I was unable to switch the temperature controls over to air-conditioning mode. I had to close the drapes to block out the daylight and the views, alas! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location, broken shower"
Hotel is nice and located in a great area. Our shower was broken when took 2 hours to fix. The onsite plumber (Gee) was great and had to replace virtually everything. As a Marriott Elite member, little irritated that management never asked about, apologized or offered anything for the inconvenience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

stayed here for new year's eve weekend. great location and great room; it was a standard king but it was spacious and had a nice view of downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Montreal Long Weekend"
Hotel was nice and location perfect. Hotel links right to metro, which make it easy to get to any part of city. The only thing that was a let down hotel sauna is closed. Sauna is one reason I stay at hotel. Stay in city often at hotel right beside this one which has sauna, but decided to try Marriott this stay. Was fine , but a let down about sauna. "Closest to Bell Centre"
Overall the hotel was terrific, but most impressive were the people that we dealt with in our 1 day stay -- we stay at many hotels but the welcoming staff totally exceeded expectations. A young female concierge helped us with kid-friendly restaurant and tourist information; the two doormen who we had the pleasure to speak with - both were knowledgeable, […] affable and just couldn't do enough to help myself and our family of 5 to get acclimated; and the reservationist who checked us in, who gave us just the right information for the WI-Fi; pool for the kids, etc. We had only a few days to spend in Montreal and truly the staff helped make it a memorable first visit for myself and our family. "chateau champlain"
Nice hotel, friendly staff. Room was nicely decorated with beautiful view but on the small side. Not optimal for two adults and two teens - but doable. Nice gym and pool. We were awakened on two mornings by the pounding of jackhammers (I would guess) and the smell of paint (confirmed by the front desk). The floor directly below us is part of an ongoing […] renovation we learned. Desk staff person was apologetic and said we should have asked to be relocated. We didn't want to bother moving all of our belongings. Maid wrote us a sweet note each day to thank us for our gratuity. Now that's a first! Overall, hotel was a good value. "Comfortable place to rest after a tourist-y day"
Clean, comfortable, and convenient with a metro stop directly underground, I enjoyed the stay at the Mariott. Check-in (out) were simple and fast and the building is situated close close to city center and public transit stops. Room was well arranged, though it was smaller.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Get off the train and you're there!"
We're two older friends seeing Montreal for the first time. The hotel was clean - most important to us. Our large panoramic window looking over the city was beautiful. Clean bathroom with nice shower and lots of hot water. Could have used another bath towel - they give you 3. You're not in the heart of things, location wise, but for us it was good. […] We're walkers, and the location was mid-way between the Old City and the museum of Fine Arts, two things on our "must see" list. We took the train from the states and it was an easy couple of blocks from Gare Central. We discovered you don't even have to walk outside - not only was the station accessible by tunnel from the lobby, but so were the Metro and the Underground city. The gym was clean and modern, with all the machines I'm used to. The pool looked pretty but we were too busy to use it. There is an ATM in the lobby as well as a nice place for muffins, yogurt and coffee for a quick breakfast before sightseeing. They charge to use the hotel computer, so my friend opted not to check her e-mails. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Super nice staff; good location"
Excellent view from half moon window; renovated bed but no HBO (we were warned), etc---need of new paint in some locations---and the spa is especially worn-looking and poorly located. The bar, however, is inviting and the wait staff was warm and friendly. Overall a good location in the city and nice choice for a weekend stay---wouldn't go so far as […] to call it 4-star. Ended up staying in the airport Marriott due to flight cancellation on last day---amenities there more attractive and better maintained. (Although have to admit, the internet was free in the city and not at airport---what gives, Marriott corp---why not make it a standard?) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect hotel for a Montreal visit"
The Marriott was beautiful, the rooms clean, large, and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful. There was a great little place for breakfast at a very reasonable price located on the main floor. Location was especially great, with the convenience of an entry to the Metro directly from the hotel. The concierge was extremely helpful, and the rest […] of the staff were very friendly. Money can be exchanged right at the desk. There is also a computer on the main floor just for print boarding passes -- very convenient. The tour buses were also only 3 blocks away, so we could walk there. If we ever visit Montreal again, we will DEFINITELY stay here. We will also recommend this hotel to friends. "Great location"
Stayed 5 nights for the Just for Laughs Festival in July. Typical Marriott. Nothing to complain. Room service is expensive. A club sandwich and a Cesar salad with chicken will set you back more than $50. Location is great! Directly above subway. Notre Dame, Mont Royal, and a supermarket (Metro) are all within walking distance. There is also a very nice, […] reasonably priced sushi restaurant right across the Metro supermarket. Next door to the sushi restaurant you can also find a cafe. Parking is convenient with garage in the same building. Self park is 20 CAD per 24 hrs. However, the charge is based on each time interval the car is parked. If you need to take out car a few times within a day, valet parking may make more sense (28 CAD for each 24 hrs no matter how many times you take out the car). Be warned that a US bank issued credit card may not be accepted at the subway vending machine. We tried 3 different cards before giving up. But the assistant at the window was nice enough to accept our USD for the ride tickets. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic view"
A very convenient location, with the Metro system a short elevator ride down. Bus stops were close by as was the Info-center for most transportation needs. Room was nicely maintained when we remembered to remove the "sleeping in card" from the door. Lighting in the dressing area and bathroom could have been brighter. The bell hop staff was less than […] helpful. Concierge staff was sadly under informed about local services. Lobby area is lovely, Our 27th floor room had a superior 180 degree view of the city. Linens were plush. Room service was quick and polite, food (late night desserts) nothing to get excited about. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Will stay here again"
Extremely well-run hotel with very attentive, helpful staff. Rooms recently renovated and very clean. Restaurant has fabulous food & service. Great location for either shopping on St Catharine's (walking distance) or Old Montreal (subway is cheap, safe plus attached to hotel and can get you there quicker than walking).Genuine Expedia guest review
"Marriott Chateau Champlain"
Very nice hotel, but after a long day sightseeing the city we came back in the afternoon to a messy room with wet towels as they didn't service the room. "Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain"
Beautiful hotel and absolutely great location. View from the room was spectacular. Our only complaint was with the housekeeping schedule. When we arrived, there was no toilet tissue. We called and it was brought right up. The next day, we went out for the morning and early afternoon. We went back to our room at about 3:00 to find the room was not cleaned […] yet. We had to call again and they came up to clean it. The last day, the maid walked in at 8:00 AM and we were just waking up! She waited in the hallway and kept trying to come in until we put the "do no disturb" sign out! We hurriedly got ready and checked out at 10:00 even though check-out was 12 noon.
