Great Location. Large room by European standards...very comfortable, and nicely appointed. The staff, even those we had not met, made it a point to know our names. We were very pleased with the entire experience...HIGHLY recommend it.

I liked the ease with which we found it. Very close to S. Zaccaria Water bus stop. Alittle too busy for my taste so we got good recommendations from Richard the very friendly and funny bell hop for restaurants off the beaten path. Thanks also to Rita for her advise Re getting to the train station

We’re home sweet home in Naples, Florida. Wonderful Italy experiences, culture, art, food, wine, history, lure and lore. Lots of great people connections especially our hoteliers ... small family-owned ... and a delightful way to feel welcomed in Italy. We give this hotel highest marks and recommend it heartily. Thank you Venice for Hotel Villa Igea. Lots of love, always and ever. Hugs-a-million. Susie & Dick Hilton ~ Naples, Florida, USA.

"Fair hotel near St. Mark's and vaporetto stop."
This hotel about a block back from the Grand Canal is definitely worth booking if you can nail down a reasonable price. Our room was a bit cramped, but I imagine most are in Venice. The AC didn't seem to respond to the thermostat. That, too, should come as no surprise to European travelers, and it wasn't ever unbearably hot or cold. No tub in the bathroom, but there is (as always) a bidet. The desk is only staffed during the day. Otherwise, you have to go the Savoia hotel a block away. That's also where the breakfast is served. The good news is that the breakfast serves a bit of ham and scrambled eggs in addition to the regular European-breakfast array of breads and yogurts. It's probably not worth noting here that the staff runs a tight ship for breakfast, which includes not a little bit of them yelling at each other and galloping around in a huff. It's worth it for the eggs.

"Great hotel, great location, comfy bed, big rooms"
Title says it all. Our room was newly remodeled, we had a queen/king sized canopy bed, along with a second bedroom with a fold out sofa bed. A/C worked great, there is a unit in each room. Bathroom was recently remodeled, the shower had about 8 shower nozzles in it, but couldn't figure out the electronic controls, but it still was a great shower. There is a large safe in the room, extra pillows, and a large terrace overlooking a church court yard. We arrived early and the front desk guy did everything he could to get us in the room before check in time, which is top notch service. The breakfast was very good, it is at the hotel's main property the Savoy, which is right on the water front. Breakfast had eggs, bacon... and a huge assortments of fruits and veggies that you can run through their super awesome juicer. The hotel does not have a sign, just a small 4x6 inch plaque, it took us a while to find, be sure to write down the address. There is a water spout (drinking water) in the courtyard directly in front of the hotel. The location is a 1 minute walk from the water bus stop near St. Marks square. We found it easy to find, since it is a straight shot from the waters edge, which is welcome in a city like Venice where it is so easy to get lost.

"Good hotel"
Very good hotel. Clean, comfortable, centrally located on a quiet piazza near St Marks square and 1 short block to San Zaccaria vaparetto stop. Staff good, helpful, nice. Room is large enough. Breakfast in a nearby large associated hotel overlooking main canal and walkway. No front desk service at night but your pass key gets you in. Any problems at night are handled by associated hotel 1/2 block away. Shower is large enough. One suggestion to the hotel: install a grab bar in the shower.

This lovely hotel is ideally located near Piazza St Marco but overlooking a very quiet little square. The hotel is clean, extremely quiet and comfortable, and the staff are welcoming and efficient. I'd certainly stay here again. We had a "superior" room with a great view of the square. There are small terraces open only to hotel guests so that you can sit outside and enjoy the view and clean Venice air.

"Great Breakfast, Hard Bed"
This was a great option for my wife and I in Venice. It's in a great location and comes with an outstanding continental breakfast at a nearby hotel. The downside was that our bed was incredibly uncomfortable and we had to request additional bedding and pillows to compensate. Overall, I would highly suggest this hotel, but be ready for a hard mattress.

First: Great location for both vaporetti and Alilaguna transportation at the San Zaccaria stops. Second: Great breakfast! Sufficient to get you through the day till you can hit a bacaro in the afternoon.. Third: An elevator! Hey, we're 64 so don't criticize. The room was small, the bathroom even smaller but it is Venice and how much time do you spend in the room? Everything was very clean with clean linen every day! Last: Worth every Euro.

"Close to Major Sites - Excellent Breakfast!!!"
Villa Igea seemed like a good find in expensive Venice. The free breakfast was the best part, it was a quality American buffet with excellent Italian coffee made to order. It was just around the corner from St. Mark's Square so we could walk just a few minutes to the main attractions, but was off in a little quite piazza, so it seemed quaint. One frustrating thing was the front desk hours. It seemed like they were just never open when you really needed information. I'm not sure if we cold have just gone to their partner hotel and spoken with that staff, so if they would have clarified that if it were a possibility, that would have been helpful. But when they were present they were very helpful. Overall, a very nice stay.

We have stayed at both the Villa Igea and its parent hotel, the Hotel Savoia & Jolanda, many times. Both hotels are excellent, and by far the best that we have ever used in Venice. The rooms are of a good size, well-furnished and always spotless. Gradual redecoration means some rooms are of traditional style while others have a more contemporary feel, but both are perfectly executed. The Villa Igea benefits from being attached to a 4-star hotel by sharing the staff and room amenities (e.g. toiletries). The breakfasts are superb, with a huge selection available. The location is ideal, being adjacent to a public transport hub (including boats directly from the airport, train and bus station), with no stairs between the pontoons and the hotel. All Venetian attractions are within walking distance.

"Great location and great value in Venice"
We were thrilled to have such a nice room in the heart of Venice, for the price we paid. Because this hotel is affliated with a larger, waterfront hotel, you are able to access their staff and facilities, such as the free buffet breakfast. The staff at both facilities were extremely helpful and friendly, customer service oriented. The room was well appointed. The location was quiet, since it was in a side street. It was right off the Zaccaria dock and so convenient for local waterbus service as well as the Alilaguna to the airport. We loved Villa Igea!!

"Good value in an expensive city."
We had a great 3 night stay. The room, like many Venitian hotel rooms, was small but it was well laid out, nicely furnished, clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was equipped with a working towel warmer, hair dryer and the usual amenities as well as the largest and best shower we had in our three weeks in Italy. The included breakfast served at the "sister" hotel, Savoia and Jolanda was a full buffet and was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location -- just a short walk to St. Mark's Square -- was outstanding.

"Staff Needs Lessons in Customer Service"
I will preface my review by saying that the room itself was nice - very small (I know, Americans are spoiled), but clean and nice. That being said, here's my story: We arrived at 12:30 pm and were told our room would be ready at 2:00, so they took our luggage to storage and we explored Venice until 2:00. Upon return they were about to give us our room when I reminded them that we had reserved twin beds (I was traveling with my son), so then we were told it would be another 10 minutes till the room was ready. After a 45 minute wait I approached them again and was told it would only be another 5 minutes or so. About 15 minutes later a staff member showed us to our room and said our luggage would be brought up immediately. Another wait of 15 minutes and still no luggage. Since we were only in Venice for the one night, we were quite upset that so much time was wasted in "waiting". Finally, my son was so tired of waiting that he went down and found our luggage - which was in a storage room with no kind of security at all. He carried all of it to our room and we were finally able to leave to enjoy the sights of Venice. No one from the hotel EVER check to see if we got our luggage (they didn't know my son had retrieved it)! I will never stay there again, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. Very disappointing end to our wonderful cruise/trip.

excellent location (next to St Marco). Room is kind of small, but is OK given the old quarter. It was hot in the room, which was not too bad given the weather outside (rainy and cold). We had a very special offer from Venere for 90 EUR per night and this was excellent for this kind of hotel. Villa Igea is located only a few minutes from Piazza San Marco. It is in Campo Zaccaria witch is a small quiet square. The only thing we would reccomend to improve in the hotel is that the towels in the bathroom shouldn`t be changed every day. This is unneccessary and exagerated. It`s not good for the environment either.

This is a charming, 19th-century villa in a quiet but perfectly located campo or square. The rooms are Venetian in decor and clean, if slightly shabby. Our room (604) had high ceilings and two French windows overlooking the campo San Zaccaria, but it was a bit cramped for 2. Note that registration is through the parent hotel, Savoy Jolanda, which is right on the front behind the vaparetto stop from the airport. Don't bother looking for Villa Igea--just go straight to the Jolanda. Breakfasts are adequate and business-like, but the desk staff are extremely helpful.

"Good but not Great"
Our stay at the VIilla Igea started off on a sour note. First when we arrived there is no one at the front desk and we had to go to their sister hotel to check in. When we went room. It turned out we had to walk up another flight of stairs to the living area. At first blush it seemed nice but it was cold when we arrived and when we asked the porter how to turn up the heat, his response was to point to a pile of blankets in the cabinet. So we walked back to the sister hotel and asked to be changed. The first response was that they hadn't turned the heat on in the hotel yet and that we were upgraded to this room for its view. We persisted however and pointed out that with temperatures expected in the low 40's F the prospect of spending the night fully clothed under blankets was a little more important than having a "nice view". In the end we were switched to another room. From then on the stay was excellent and the service couldn't be better. In fact on the last day of our stay the city became flooded and we awoke to a over a foot of water waiting us. The hotel however was well prepared, supplying each guest with rubber boots and carrying on as if this normal, which we found out was the case. Overall except for the problem with the "refrigerator room" we would stay here again as it is in a great location near St. Mark's square but off the main street so it's quite, a proffessional staff, and good access to Venice's water bus system

"Good Location but Average Hotel"
The beds are extremely uncomfortable, the rooms were not well maintained and were vert small, supplies (like toilet paper, glasses and tissue) were not replenished daily, and the breakfast quality was poor. Note: this hotel offers their boat to guests for Murano and they tell you that you can come back at any time. However, they take you to a glass company that they are affiliated with and, if you don't buy anything, you are given until noon to return (which was 20 min of free time). The best thing about hotel is the location but there are many other hotels that offer great location with better quality amenities.
