I'm not usually a resort kind of traveler, so take this with a grain of salt, but we thought the Bel-Air was great for the price compared to some of the other resorts around that were 4 or 5 times the price! We were unfamiliar with the distance between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas. The Bel Air is in San Jose. It was pleasant and quiet and an overall good place to stay. We did have a problem with the room they gave us when we checked in. It was NOT what we had reserved and they gave us a hard time changing rooms...Everything happens in Cabo San Lucas, so […] next time we will make sure we get a hotel there. We were first placed in a dismal room, not very clean, noisy and no view. We asked to be moved and the next day we were moved to an extremely nice room. Clean, ocean view and walking distance to the beach and pool. The breakfast that came with our room was delicious as we could select from the restaurant menu and have breakfast until noon.

The management of both the front desk and the restuarant were extremely accommodating. The staff, although extremely pleasant, had difficulty understanding Engilsh and providing services in an efficient manner. The resort is clean and well kept. this hotel was poorly run. we couldn't check in until late in the afternoon and had to wait in the lobby. once we got into our room there were not towels or soaps. we called down for them and they were never delivered. we ended up taking some from a cart ourselves. our friend who came on the trip were put into a room that reeked of smoke and had to […] complain to be moved. our room was fine and the view of the ocean was nice. although not their fault there is an empty lot next to the hotel filled with trash. its was part of the view from our room as well. the pool was out of towels half the time and the staff seemed generally unmotivated. except the bell hop named Carlos who was very nice and helpful. give that kid raise. he was the only one to go out of his way to make us feel welcome. overall I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel is not "brand new" but they really try to keep it nice and clean and it is. The bed was a little hard for me but everything else was good. We had a plumbing issue with the shower, within 5 minutes after we called the front desk, we had a plumber fixing the problem and the front desk apoologized for the inconvenience. From the staff at the reception desk to the cleaning staff, everyone is very friendly. The hotel's location is only a short 5 -10 minute drive by bus or taxi to downtown. It also has it's own reserved beach area which kept the vendors away. I would recommend that you do spend a little more on the room, over looking the ocean with the nice kitchenet since there will be times when you'll just want to have something in your room and rlook at the ocean from the balcony. We visit Cabo at least once a year and we found this Hotel to be just what we were looking for as a change from Cabo. Architecture around pool was beautiful and the restaurant cuisine excellent. After waiting two hours for a room, they tried to substitute an ocean view room for a run down condo on the roadside of the property. The room was dark, dirty and very old. GOOD. ... but, it is very unpleasant if you get a call at 0830 and another one at 1000 in the morning to remind you that you have to leave the before 1200. Once we knew that we were in the right place, all the staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms are very nice and clean, the beach raked beautifully, situated in between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. We did have a wonderful time in this area as we had a car and could tour around with no problems.
