Sunbird by Oaseas Resorts - Panama City Beach

The scenery was great from the room where we stayed. The check in place was not too convenience, because we had to drive from 9850 South Thomas Drive to Richard Jackson Blvd to check in. As my conversation with a lady at the hotel this morning, she said, the check in place will be within the hotel in the future.

This condo was outdated and uncomfortable. The cost was fine for two nights until they hit you with the cleaning fee! This fee was almost double one nights stay. Check in was confusing because office was not open on premises...key would not open the door.. We struggled with it every time we tried. One nice thing was the beach view and beach access.

Staff was surly and insulting. The information readily available to any guest in any hotel had to be searched out by repeated phone calls to Oaseas management. Wii Fii was listed but the code to enter was top secret, it took five calls to get the right information and questions were received with hostility and attitude. A welcome packet consisted of […] a parking hanger for your car. Construction on the deck was going on and windows were dirty on the sliding glass doors. There was dirt on the floor. I received an apology from Derek after my son called corporate about the "seek and find" treatment from management. He did call and apologize. Not a good experience after driving to a "resort"......seriously. The the good thing is coming home was a so much happier experience. Read more

Close to transition for race. Disappointed in hotel. Room was not very clean, used soap in shower, dead bugs on the floor, and bed sheets felt unclean. The front desk people were nice at check in, only interaction. Would not stay again.

We arrived late and there was no one at the desk. We had to call a number that was on the door and were instructed to go to another hotel to check in to ours. The lady there charged us an extra 130 dollars of hidden cleaning fees. When we finally checked into our room, it wasn't very clean and well maintained. There was what looked like dried blood […] and a dead bug stuck to the couch, mildew in the bathtub, slime in the kitchen sink drain, a weird vomit smell in the kitchen, a hole in the wall had been patched but not repainted, and there was stuff dried on the walls that had been splashed in the past. Also, the remote didn't work unless you stood within a few feet of the smallish old school tv. You had to keep getting up to change the channel. No maid service came the entire time we were there either, so you don't get new towels or anything. It didn't look like the photos. The blinds left gaps where people could see into your room. Also, they changed the codes to the gates in the middle of the week without informing us. This room also had no phone. On the plus size, the room was a decent size. It was close to the pool and the beach. The location was good. I'd say if you are a messier person who is going to the beach to party, this might be a decent room. If you are concerned with cleanliness, search for something better. I am giving it two stars based on the size of the room and the location of the hotel. Read more

The room was nice and the view was great. The negatives were the NON-REFUNDABLE Security Deposit about $90-95 PLUS the Cleaning FEE about $30-40. I didnt mind the cleaning fee but I was suprised by the NON-REFUNDABLE SECURITY DEPOSIT, we didnt even brake anything- even though I felt I should have. The room was fine upon first look. When we pulled the covers back on the bed there was hair on the sheets and the floor was dirty. When we tried to get more sheets for our bed and the sleeper sofa (it didn't have any to begin with) it took 2 days before someone gave us any. Sunbird is a great value..excellent location, decent amenities. Doesn't look like much until you get to your room...but the rooms are nice and all have balconies with a beach view. This was my 2nd time here and I'll certainly go again.

Great location, but the good things stop there. When we arrived to check in for our three day Memorial Weekend stay we were hit with nearly two hundred dollars in hidden fees. When we arrived at our room, the door handle was barely attached to the door. When we entered our room we found an uncomfortable bed, unresponsive light fixtures, and a toilet […] full of actual, living water creatures. There was also trash in the room along with spit sunflower seeds. The premises are surrounded by gates with locks that accept numeric codes from keypads - numeric codes which the staff did not give to us! We were locked out until we could contact someone from the organization by phone which, with modern smartphones would seem like a non-trivial task, but this building is run by a large corporation (Royal American Hospitality Inc). The phone numbers associated with it on the hotels.com website were not correct. Even some of the phone numbers on the company's own website are not correct. The only saving grace was the great weather and wonderful beach. I would not recommend the Sunbird Condominiums to anyone. Read more

I would recommend this place to others but I would also make them aware of what situations we had to deal with. The staff was very nice they moved us to another room the one that I thought I was booking to begin with just as soon as I made them aware of the situations with the first room. The hotel was good value for money. The condo furnishings were basic, but we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. I'd definitely go back there and would happily stay in the same condo.
