They assigned you a personal concierge which helped with your overall stay, dinner reservations, and helped give great advice on where the best most safe places to go off-site. "Beautiful but never stay at Paradisus/Melia again"
Paradisus is located on a stunning beach in Cancun. That was the selling point of this hotel. I will say that I did have a good time but it is because I am someone that generally likes to focus on the positive. I spent 6 days, 5 nights at the resort. On day one, I was coerced to sign up for the "non-time share" time share presentation/breakfast for […] the next day. Please note that the breakfast is at NAOS buffet, it's the same place you eat breakfast everyday. The person I met with was Fransciso, he was nice and gave us a lot of information but I could tell he didn't like that we were asking good questions. He gave us a tour of the club member suites at the paradisus. They weren't that nice to be honest. We got back to to the club melia office to sit down and talk numbers and then the sales tactics started (My sister works in sales). Fransciso deliberately gave us too many numbers, made it confusing and expensive. Then in came the closer Konni who made us some excuse for Francisco having to leave. Konni spoke very fast and was extremely rude to us when we said we were not interested. No handshake, he basically told us to leave. On day 3 my money was STOLEN from the in room safe and management told us that the hotel was not responsible. They "investigated" it but I have yet to hear anything. No nighttime entertainment. "NOT RELAXING TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE"
Be aware. Your "all inclusive" means your on the back burner for everything. Hotel staff did a horrible job explaining how this confusing resort works because they were to Eager to sale us their time share. Actually they were very pushy about scheduling a apointment to listen to the ceremony. They made us feel like we had to do it. Very unnerving after […] a long travel when you just want to relax. Now as for the food. Being that I am on vacation I do not what to think about getting up early to make appointments just so I can have a nice meal. The hotel failed to explains that if you want to din at on of the service restaurants you would need to get up by 7 am to call in reservations for the NEXT night for dinner. And even then they didn't have anything available. We were promted to take a way earlier reservation. We wanted an 8 o'clock reservation but had to take a 6 o'clock time. We arrived at six. Dinner took about 2 hours. Meaning we were in the restaurant at 8 (when we wanted our reservation) and the restaurant was empty. ?????? Why could we not reserve at this time?? Our house keeping was horrible. We never recieved coffee each morning. I had to call for it and wait. They picked up our old wash cloths and wouldn't bring us new ones. We were constantly out of toilet paper. And our tub did not work at all. ( no romantic time for us in the bath) just a shower that sprayed outside if the tub no matter what you did. That was my first stay in Cancun's Zona Hotelera. Maybe such quality is pretty common for this Zona, but I personally was impressed. The price/quality match pretty good. The restaurants are awesome, capirinhas are marvelous. I'm not exactly the beach lover, so my experience mostly related to what's outside the hotel. Chichen Itza, Coba, Tulum are […] the must. The rental car is the only way to avoid tour buses in those places, and that is REALLY worth the driving. Moving out of hotel around 5:30am brings you to ruinas at the opening time, and 1h of tranquility is guaranteed. If possible - avoid toll road to Chichen Itza, at least it's last segment from Valladolid to Piste (which is pretty meaningless in any case). This road is immodestly expensive, and has nothing to offer except of the time saving. The free road runs through a number of small villages which are pretty picturesque. Valladolid is a nice and pleasant place to spend couple of hours. Please beware of local gas stations !!! Closely monitor the amount of gas which is pouring into the tank as these folks tend to cheat foreigners in a very blatant way. Also, avoid paying by cash as they might substitute bills claiming you gave 20 instead of 200 etc .. The gas station just across the hotel is the best option. On arrival and while walking around the hotel property my wife and i were pleased at how lovely the grounds, beach and pool looked. But after being shown to our room we quickly noticed that the rooms were not a cleaning priority! The beds were made horrible and you could tell no one dusted. We traveled to Paradisus Cancun for my daughter's destination wedding. We had some issues at check in (All there for the wedding were in one building except the maid of honor, best man and parent's of the bride and groom) Our first room was not acceptable as the air conditioning unit banged incessantly and our phone was broken. We chose this hotel because it was supposed to be all-inclusive, and it's not. It's also got a terrible atmosphere, don't expect to relax here. The minute you walk in, it feels like you've walked into a sauna. The A/C is insufficient to cool the building, also you are hit with the stench of heavy incense and deodorizers.The hotel is huge, and it was […] very busy when we went, the pool was very crowded, and there was no place to sit in a lounger. The beach was also very busy, and we discovered that the only loungers available which offered shade cost $100US a day extra. It was 102 degrees so we had no choice but to pay the extra money for shade. The hotel doesn't provide enough shaded places for guests. There is a separate section for adults only, for which you have to pay extra, and this section had more shaded sitting areas than the regular section. During check in king bed reserved 6 mo's prior was unavailable. Wi-Fi for both rooms inadequate needed IT tech to install additional router in both rooms. Beautiful hotel on the beach. We vacationed at this hotel after reading many reviews on the internet. It was the best vacation we have ever experienced. "Ocean front room worth it"
We stayed for three nights. When we arrived, a personal concierge tried to get us to go to some meeting the next day, and was quite persuasive, but we did not want to go. This I could do without. We were in Building 3, which was convenient b/c all the restaurants were in this building, but the loud music there made it hard to fall asleep, and the music […] on the beach drowned out the sound of the sea waves, which was a shame. So we just moved farther down on the beach. Other than those two aspects, we enjoyed our stay. Having an ocean view room was worth it, to be able to stand on the balcony and see the incomparable turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Having the waiters/waitresses on the beach to bring drinks was very nice; we tipped them a dollar or two each time they brought us a drink. They work hard in the summer heat, and were all very polite. We ate all of our meals in the Naos Restaurant buffet. Breakfasts had a station where special juices could be made. We sat in the same area for each meal, and were well taken care of by the waiters Oscar, Alejandro, and Jaime. Even though tips are supposed to be included in the all-inclusive aspect, we always tipped anyway because of the excellent service. We had brought a bunch of dollar bills with us, and used these for tipping, bus fare, etc. We preferred to use pesos at the Market 28 though. It was a relaxing trip! We reserved rooms with lagoon view. Nice hotel but apparently if you get a room through expedia you will be put in the dungeon. It seemed like a basement even though they consider it street level. My family and I went to Paradisus Cancun in July 2014 for the first time, and had an amazing experience. We did the Family Concierge package, and Grace was wonderful. She really spoiled us and our two kids, (son 5 and daugther 8). The restaurants were really good, and had a nice variety of food choices for the adults and children. The pools were fantastic. […] We especially loved renting a cabana bed at the family concierge pool. My kids loved swimming over to the swim up pool bar to get refreshing fruit drinks. The beach was beautiful and child friendly. Lots of hours spent collecting seashells and jumping in the waves. We did two excursions. Both were a lot of fun. Explor was amazing and my children loved it. This was our favorite day. We also went to Chitzenitza (sp?). It was a long trip, but we got to swim in a swim hole and also stop for lunch.
