"Convenient Waikiki Hotel"
I found Hokele Suites affordable and convenient to all Waikiki sites, as well as close to bus connections which brought me to downtown attractions. The amenities are comparable to larger and more costly hotels, closer to the beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent budget hotel"
This is a decent budget hotel. Parking is a major problem, though. They only have a handful of spaces onsite, which are "first come, first serve", and overflow parking is almost a block away (and more expensive). There is no help with taking your bags up to the room. This hotel is SELF SERVICE to the extreme. The room itself was very dated, but did […] have a kitchenette, which is nice. "Not a bargain"
It was a disappointment. I tried to choose a modest hotel to save on costs, but it wasn't worth it in the end. The two window air conditioners didn't work properly, and Honolulu was experiencing a heat wave the week we were there. Cockroaches scurried across the tables and floor when we turned on the lights. The beds were uncomfortable, the sofa bed […] was so old it was impossible to sleep on, and the hotel was really noisy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hard 4 nite stay"
Parking is not guaranteed. Only have a handful under the building. You had to park between pillars and back out uphill into the street. We had to go on a waiting list and never was called that a stall was available. Had to go to another hotel, a block away, to park and pay 5 more than Hokele would have charged and had to pay in cash. There went all […] our cash. Requested 2 beds when I booked over 3 months prior, but was not guaranteed, so got 1 bed with a roll away bed. Kitchen is not a kitchen, it was put into a closet space. Only had a bar sink with dishes and pots and pans a small refrigerator, stove, coffee maker and microwave. Rug was sticky as if it had not been cleaned in a while. Balcony was very small and very hard to get onto with a view of another building. Room was not all that clean. The bathroom was very small; had a 1/2 sink and the toilet was hard to flush. Also very run down. I guess it was ok, but not for the price we paid. It was a close walking distance to the beach. Will not stay here again, unless I see they renovated the place. The hotel is close to the beach, the personnel was nice and the room was clean. However, the hotel is REALLY old and there were some things in the bathroom that could really use some updates. The sink was really old and had some ... stuff accumulated around the drain and the shower stall was really old so it doesn't clean very well. They could at least […] put in some new caulk at the edges to make it look cleaner. Other than that, I have no complaints. Besides being about 2 blocks away from the beach, they also have a small pool. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel located close to beach"
The rooms have old time window units for air conditioning and it so hot it has to run all the time. its so loud you have to almost holler to have a conversation with someone in the same room. The beds are old and hard as a rock! seriously hard beds! I was playing around with my niece and she threw me on the bed. The bed was so had both my elbows got […] bruised. and im in good shape and young. I asked for a double beds room and thought thats what I was going to get, I even think I paid an extra daily charge for it. I was given a single bed and some old roll away bed, and told it was expedias fault that i did not get the double beds in the room. On the plus side the staff was very nice and helped with advice on activities and arranged ( at a extra cost) transportation. also the location is close to the beach and ABC stores and restaurants. More then once the staff ran off people trying to scam us ( tourist)! I did appreciate this. Hawaii is Beautiful! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Fine place to stay"
This is the second time I stayed here, and it won't be the last. It's really conveniently located, and the small but full kitchen is great for making an expensive vacation more affordable. The in house restaurant sucks, but Marukame Udon is only a few blocks away, so no worries. Don't expect beauty in this hotel, but it's clean and modestly comfortable. […] Every room is guaranteed a lanai. As of Sept 2014, the in room wifi is really expensive, but was told that they should be moving to in room free wifi by next year. The only utterly terrible thing about this hotel is the parking. And I do mean terrible. The first time I tried to get out, it took me 10 minutes. From then on, my friend had to stand outside and direct me out of the garage. And for $25 a night for the world's worst parking, no way. I'll go back to Hokele again, but never with a car. If I need to rent a car, I'll stay at another hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Spend the extra $ for a different hotel..."
I was super exited to stay here for my birthday because it was so close to the bars I wanted to go to and the price was cheap compared to other hotels. I was so disappointed! First off, we had to wait at least 25 minutes for a room because they had to put one room out of service (which I guess I should be thankful I didn't get that one). I almost feel […] bad leaving a low review because the staff was so nice and friendly but I need to let others know what I experienced. We finally get to our room and they tried to cover it up with spray but it smelled like straight up somebody peed in there! It smelled horrible and we had to leave the back door open for an hour to let it air out and even then it wasn't completely gone. On the plus side they do have a pool (no jacuzzi). But the next morning we wanted to eat at the lunch buffet before we left and waited until 11:15 (supposed to start at 11) and still no movement in the restaurant. We just decided to eat somewhere else. Better believe I will be booking somewhere else for my birthday in advance for a better price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Will never consider this hotel ever again. I've stayed at many hotels in Hawaii and all if them took cash deposits but this one didn't. okay hotel. close to the downtown and the beaches at a reasonable rate. rooms have a bothering smell of dampness. the rooms need some renovation. at times no one is there at the front desk to help. parking is a nightmare. they have a small parking lot and its always full. they ask to you park at the Courtyard Marriott (OHANA WAIKIKI MALIA) parking […] lot next block but its not guaranteed. also they are more expensive ($30/day) than the hotel's advertised rate of $25/day. Oneway streeets in Honolulu are a large pain in my patoot. The area looked a bit run-down. I understood that this is not a 4-star hotel. I think my son was quite disappointed and that was a minus. I was pleased with our suite overall. It was clean, didn't smell bad, a little musty. but that is due to humidity.Robbie at the desk was pure professionalism […] and kindness. I would give a minus to the restaurant. Although the breakfast just right for me, the buffet dinner looked like an Asian thing and was neither appealing in sight or smell. I was the only white person in the place...so we dined elsewhere. I would come back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The location to this hotel was pretty good, it's a short walk to the beach. The staff was very nice and friendly, which is always a plus.. But let's get down to the nitty gritty. The place is a DUMP! The room was not clean and the bathroom was gross. None of the rooms have any kind of view.. The only view you have is of other buildings. The balcony […] was also really dirty, it had an air conditioner that was leaking water and the staff put a bucket under the air conditioner. The bucket was over flowing when we checked in and no one bothered to empy it out, so we had gross water leaking on our balcony.. Therefore we didn't use it at all. The room came with a few kitchen appliances but judging by the cleanliness of the rest of the room we pretty much opted out of using any of the kitchenware. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again.. But if you're looking for a cheap room in waikiki that you won't spend much time in then this is it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Horrible. Took almost an hour just to check in. Rooms are in bad shape, toilet scared us the first time we used it, because it would slam into the wall when you got off it. I was surprised it was in working condition. One of the reason i booked this place was because of the free grocery delivery service. Well the hotel staff wasn't completely sure on […] the process or who it was suppose to be thru, so we had to spend 1/2 our day finding a grocery store and going to by our own food. Very disappointing that i didn't get to use this service. No free wifi, not that i needed it, but it would have been nice to have. There is no parking there. You have to go 2 blocks over to another garage, which is a very tight squeeze. We had an suv and we were not able to go past the 1st floor in that ramp because the ceiling was too low. "A Honest Review"
We stayed in room 240; most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. Antiquated, dungeon-like room atmosphere. No central AC, and the single window mount units were very noisy and rattled the paper thin walls like a cheap subwoofer in a convertible. The bathroom sink is about12" long, 10" deep and only 6" wide. Shaving and hand washing was difficult […] and the knobs did not turn like traditional on/off knobs. Toilet felt like it was going to suckthe room in with it when flushed, you could literally hear it in the lobby. Kitchenette was small and cramped,we were afraid to even try using the stove, and the kitchette was the draw for us on why we stayed here. They will charge you for parking ($25 a day) and their parking is more cramped and difficult to move in. Plus, their dumpsters are in the parking garage and stunk up every vehicle there. Only about 10 parking spots so if you don't get one, its a half mile walk from their suggested parking spots and they charge $35 a night. Knowing what I know now, I would have paid the extra $40 a night to stay at a better place. Nofree wifi in the rooms either. The only positive aspect is that IHOP is about 75 yards away. The in-house Asian buffet was horrible (and I know my Asian food). DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT AND WILL NOT STAY AGAIN! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wouldn't Stay Again"
The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Stayed 6 nights, had back pain the whole stay, went away after 1 night at another hotel with really comfy bed. Killed a small cockroach in the bathroom. Staff very friendly. House keeping always showed up at 5p or 7p, when we would return from being out and didn't want to be disturbed. Versus the customary 10 am, […] They ended up not cleaning our room 3 of the days. The elevator requires an access card which does not work 70% of the time. Had to have the room key re-programed 3x. Tons of guests experienced same frustration. Again staff was friendly, but the place was old and worn, equivalent to a cheap worn down Best Western for x4 the price. "You Get What You Pay For"
Even though I requested two beds for two adults/two children when I booked online, they gave me one. After complaining to the front desk, they gave me a room with two beds in one and a third bed in another (much appreciated). The curtains in the room were very dirty and so were the filters on the window AC units. Great price for the area. Charged way […] too much for WiFi and parking. The parking was ridiculous, extremely small parking spots, people blocked me in multiple times and you have to back out uphill to exit the parking garage, very dangerous due to oncoming street and foot traffic . My departure was delayed one day and when I tried to reserve the room for another day at the same rate, I was told I had to book online through Hotels.com, check out at 12 and check-in at 3 and I would only get one bed, RIDICULOUS. So I checked-in early to the Hale Koa 4.3 star hotel and we a great last night in Hawaii. If you are willing to risk it, stay in this 1-2 star hotel, otherwise, pay a little more for a beachside suite. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wouldn't want to stay here again"
The staff was great and friendly and the fridge in the room is a nice touch. Having said that...The coffee maker had mold in it. I could feel every spring in the bed. NEEDS RENOVATION. The walls are paper thin. I'm pretty sure someone was smoking in another room and I could smell it coming out the vents. You're also forced to smell what your neighbors […] are cooking. The whole use your key card to use the elevator idea is a joke. The card reader was always busted on 1/2 the elevators. There is little to no wifi on the 8th floor so don't bother paying the $6.95 daily fee. I had 1 bar of wifi when I sat in one corner, but it'd go away as soon as I moved. The room had a portable A/C unit which was loud. I'm all about relaxation and leisure. I couldn't get either here. I paid $122 a night and it was worth $40. So if you're looking for a place to pass out after a long day/night of drinking, this might be the place. Other than that, I suggest forking out the extra money for some place else.
