"Close to the beach"
The hotel was located near the beach, about a 10 min walk. The staff was great, available 24 hrs. The only downfall was the carpet was a dark green color so it gives the room/place a dirty look. I had a room at the corner and the next room was legitally next to my door and so I can hear when the neighbors came in and out.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap in Honolulu"
We needed a 2 bd-room suite for a family of 5. Private bedrooms and balcony. Great location. Air conditioners were a bit noisy. Tile in shower could have had all the mildew removed or cleaned better but for $150 for a night that we were only showering and sleeping it was ok. Better than paying twice the rate for a newer facility or two rooms elsewhere. […] Convenience of IHOP, McDs and shopping on the corner and the mall a block down the road. "Would never stay again"
The hotel is very old, the linens and towels very dirty and holed. We had a connecting door in our 2 bdrm so called suite; the neighbors were very loud, we complained to the administration; they didn't want to do anything. We went to knock on the neighbors door ourselves. Awful experience.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Reasonable without loosing comfort and convenience"
Had to book a couple nights stay at the last minute due to illness of a family member who had to have surgery on a different island. Having to do this on a very limited budget was scary. But I was over whelmed at the excellent price n convenience moderate furnishings, not the ritz but staff was sweet but limited as well as the parking. I believe I counted […] maybe 15 stalls. But for the situation? I couldn't have asked for better. Thank you. I already have referred two of my friends to stay there n would stay again if I could. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good Place To Stay"
If you want to just sleep and enjoy the city, This is the perfect place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I could write about problems, but why go there. This hotel is what we wanted and expected, close to the beach, had a full kitchen in the room, very nice helpful staff plus the price was very good. However if you got something about only wanting luxury to dump all that extra money you don't know what to do with, then it is not for you. However, it is […] a good family hotel the children felt comfortable played with other visiting children in the pool and some games in the family courtyard and it was close to everything, clean and maintained. We were not happy at all with this hotel. When we walked into the room we were overwhelmed by a pungent odor. for not being at the hotel most of the time we spent in Oahu, the hotel was OK. the good thing was having a full kitchen is good to cook quick meals after a long day. staff overall was friendly. You have to pay for coffee everyday if you want more, you have to pay for internet, little things that just want to make a person go ah, but like i said we […] tried to spend as much time exploring the land than at the hotel. also, I was told about a bug in our room that my cousin found. "Typical Waikiki low budget hotel"
Sometimes you look for a place that's not too expensive and fits your budget, and that place you rent with lower expectations. This is one of those places it was great for what we needed it for, one night in Honolulu, but I wouldn't book it for an extended stay. The sliding back doors could easily be broken into so I never felt that my stuff was secure […] there. I had to carry all my valuables with me. Would've been better if there was a stick in the sliding door. Furthermore the back doors appeared to be broken into many many times. One good thing though, they had safes in every room. That being said I would still stay there and at the same circumstances. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"THIS PLACE MADE A HAWAII VACATION HORRIBLE"
I understand that Waikiki and Honolulu are not necessarily the "Hawaii" experience but my goodness, this hotel was a joke. The room was tiny, the shower went hot-to-cold, cold-to-hot every 5 seconds while taking a shower. The couch in the living room was broken to the point where you couldn't sit on it. The front of the building seemed like a homeless […] crackhead hangout. I felt like I was staying in a cheap hotel in Hollywood or some run down neighborhood. The restaurant that is attached to the hotel was maybe the most disgusting restaurant I've seen (and that's saying a lot). The parking was a joke, they have like 8 slots on-site and those are swallowed up by employees so you have to park 2-3 blocks away AND pay $20/day. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Literally the worst place I've ever stayed at and I've done U.S. tours with punk bands and stayed in some pretty crappy places but this one takes the cake. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"The Hotel and the services"
The first day when I checked in, the front desk lady asked $100.00 deposit, I gave her cash, but did not get any receipt. After when I checked out she said that she credited back to my account, also did not get any receipt for the proof. I have't got any credit back to my account 6 days after I checked my credit card. I would not recommend to my friends […] about this type of trust and the services. The room cleanness were not good, toilet was not cleaned, the towels were only partially changed. "A bit run down, but convenient"
This hotel is OK for an overnight stay, but I would not recommend for a long term stay. It is very convenient in that it is close to the International Market and many other shopping area's. "Really good people, but run down hotel/resort."
This place was probably amazing in the 80's. But now its decaying and the management isnt investing in it. The A/C smells moldy. The backs of the cooling fins were corroded away to white powder. The wicker headboards smell like urine. I bet its because when they wash it, the water causes dry rot between the slats. So if they replace with solid wood […] they will have happier guests. I am sensitive to smells, and the first thing i did was run to Times Supermarket and pick up air fresheners and febreeze. If you do go here do the same, and when you leave give the stuff you cant take on the plane to someone else staying there. Pay it forward. Also i was disappointed that there was no free wifi. I'm sorry but i'm from oregon, and even coffee shops and book stores have free wifi. Its a simple service, it costs little to implement and its easy to setup and secure. in this world where we live and die by our GPS smartphones, free wifi is a must. The best part of the place is the people. They are really good people and they want you to be happy. Irea busts her butt helping people out. "Great stay for the price."
This property is a little old and some of the rooms need paint but our stay was comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful. The hotel is doing some painting and repairs but had not gotten to our room yet. For the price that we paid, I can overlook some marks on the walls. We were about four blocks from the water but we didn't pay $300.00 a night […] and still had a place with a small kitchen, close to shopping and restaurants. not very well maintained. No inhouse internet, incomplete kitchen supplies like serving bowls, salt or pepper and the such. When I checked in they didn't have the room available that I booked online. I was to have a one bedroom suite and they were over sold so I had to take a studio. I was never offered a price reduction. I chose this hotel because of the kitchen amenities offered and at a great price. The building is old, and plumbing is somewhat out of date. The Castle Hokele Suites Waikiki is run down to say the least. The furniture was old and broken in some cases. The tiles in the bathroom looked like they hadn't been properly cleaned. The hallway and room smell. Bedroom is separated from kitchen/living room which make a nice 5 days staying.Genuine Expedia guest review
We knew it was an older hotel but was quite disappointed. We reserved two rooms with two double beds in each room (there was 5 of us traveling). My son (23 years old) was going to go between the two rooms so that's why we needed two beds in each room. When we arrived, we were given one room with two double beds and "one upgraded" room that had a separate […] bedroom with 1 double bed and a sofa sleeper. Not sure why this was considered an upgrade when my son had to sleep on the sofa sleeper. The air conditioner was leaking in one room and they had a bucket below it to collect the water, kind of ghetto! The pictures online were very deceiving. The offsite parking was much better than the onsite parking (one way in and too small). No matter how many days you stay, you are still given only one day of complimentary coffee. The front desk and housekeeping service was excellent. Very friendly and efficient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel is in a great location close to shopping and the beach. the nightlife is amazing if you're looking for that. the staff was always very nice and helpful although the only complaints i have come from people staying in the room next to me (they were very loud and rude), and through cleanliness of my room when i first arrived was very displeasing. The first thing we noticed when arriving was that the place looked older in person than online. The staff seemed pretty good as we checked in. Then we opened our room and it smelled bad. The room and corridor were kind of grungy. While it seemed the staff was doing the daily room stuff, it seemed that the heavier cleaning, like scrubbing walls and shampooing […] carpet, hadn't been done for a long while. We also felt compelled to wash up all the dishes before using them. My teens didn't find the pull-out bed at all comfortable and 1 preferred the floor. The hotel is in a pretty good location for an economy unit. The staff was pleasant and helpful where they could be. The pool area showed some age, but was still enjoyable. "Nice location, comfortable room, terrible shower"
This hotel has a nice location, helpful staff, and comfortable room layouts. "Castle Disgusting Waikiki"
We arrived after 8:00p.m. & dark. It was an older, smaller establishment, but that did not bother us. The receptionist was very pleasant, the open lobby was next to the pool. So far, so good. That was our first impression. The pleasantry stopped there. As we walked to the elevator, things went downhill from there. The "laundry-room" was open air, looked […] like to hadn't been attended to for several weeks. As we entered the elevator, chipped - dirty walls, (keep going family it's only a couple of nights). It will be ok. As we arrived at our floor & the elevator doors opened.....the walls in the hallway greeting us were disgustingly filthy (We are not a tidy people). Splatters & just general grease & grime from everyday use & months of NO CLEANING or painting nor vacuuming. Upon entering the room, the grease & grime continued on all walls & doors, floors seemed to be vacuumed in the pathways. We had a "kitchen" unit but there was no way we would have eaten from there without washing all dishes first. The bathroom appeared somewhat clean as long as you didn't look in the corners or under the sink. The towels smelled of bleach & looked clean? Sheets on the beds smelled of bleach & also appeared cleaned? We were totally disgusted with this hotel. It was filthy, filthy, filthy. We did a first for our family, while out for dinner we found a different hotel & moved. So sad, with the correct management this could be a nice place to stay but not at the present. Response by Hokele Suites Aloha Valued Guest, We are truly sorry for the frustrations occurring during your recent stay here at the Hokele Suites Waikiki. Our efforts are to satisfy all guest to the best of our ability, by way of pricing, Service with Aloha and cleanliness. Someway in your case we failed to measure up to you expectations. Yes, we are an older hotel, which immediately give some guest a perception of being dirty. But our daily efforts are to clean our public areas (lobby, hallways etc) to the best of our ability. We also clean each occupied room daily and with a qualified staff of employees. I will share your comments with our staff with the intention of improving for the benefit of all guests. Again we are very sorry but do hope your vacation to Hawaii was both enjoyable and memorable. Sincerely, General Manager
This hotel is outdated and not very clean. The bathroom had sticky floor, molding in the shower and the floor had long strands of hair and also pubic hair!!!! the kitchenette had kitchen towels that smelled terrible, the kitchen utensils were outdated and not very usable, the small coffee pot leaked water from the tank and the water would run all over […] the small countertop. The carpets are not only old, but extremely dirty. I will never go back to this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"If you need a suite; OK. Otherwise; not so good."
The hotel exterior and interior appear decrepit and is in a not-so-nice part of Waikiki. Don't try to sleep in as the outside noise, both at night and in the morning, is loud. "What a dump!"
There is not enough space to write all of the negatives of this experience. First and foremost, Expedia stated that there was a "full kitchen." There were small appliances. The fridge had a tiny freezer for ice cube trays only. No dishwasher, no dish rack, no garbage disposal, a two burner stove with a tiny oven. Microwave barely large enough to heat […] leftovers. The counter space was almost nonexistent. 2 cup coffee pot. No way could I have prepared a decent meal there. We had to request bowls for cereal. The drinking glasses held 3 or 4 ounces. Of the 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and 1 living room, 1 of the bedrooms had a clear sliding glass door. All other glass was frosted. There was NO view...in Hawai'i!! Horrible lighting - after dark we didn't have enough light to read. Next, the bedrooms were small. The floor plan was pathetic. Inside doors were about 28" wide (I had to turn my suitcase sideways to get it into the "master" bedroom. The bed was more narrow than a hotel queen with no support. My husband and I had little sleep due to the way the mattress sagged in the middle, causing us to cling to the sides to avoid rolling into each other constantly. The shower was tiny and dark with an opening more narrow than the doorways. The bathroom had no ventilation at all...no window, no fan...creating a stuffy, humid, hot, uncomfortable atmosphere when the door was closed. A few of the staff were friendly and helpful. Several were indifferent w/o the aloha spirit usually found there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
