For the most part, I enjoyed my stay at the Pasatiempo. The rooms were roomy, clean, and the bed was comfortable. I also like the setting and how close it was to the highway to the beaches. The bathroom was missing the baseboards and parts of the wallpaper in the room were damaged, but this didn't ruin my stay. The room also lacked places to put things. […] I liked the vanity, but the light to the side blinded the one side there was light and shadowed the other side. I instead got ready in the bathroom and had to walk back and forth from the vanity to get my things as there was no counter space or drawers in the bathroom. The TV needs to be updated as it's still a tube, it made a high pitch noise, and had a stain in the middle we could not get off. Also, the remote didn't work and we couldn't figure out the Xfinity. The wifi signal was strong, but the internet service was VERY slow. The coninental breakfast ended too early (9:30 compared to 10:00 - 11:00 at other places). I would however stay again due to the cleanliness, comfortability and location. Read more

The Hotel was nice, but there was no base board tile in the bathroom in the suite we stayed in room#215 where the jacuzzi tub was, informed the frontdesk they said they look into it. Room service was good but the food was less than expected for the prices.

The hotel grounds were spectacular, the room quite adequate and clean. The staff was somewhat unaccommodating. We had driven since 3::30 am and hope to check in early for a quick nap before seeing the sights. We were informed of the late afternoon check in time and that they had nothing available. (It was midweek and the hotel was NOT busy.) We were […] called 1/2 hour before check-in time and given a room which had clearly not been used the night before (very hot and stuffy). It took us 1/2 hour to finish our snack and head back, so we didn't check in early at all. The next morning my husband who is an early riser quietly left the room so as not to wake me, He went to the lobby in hope of snagging an early cup of coffee and was curtly given the buffet hours. For us, these little courtesies make all the difference and they were missing. Also the room was very hot and stuffy due to the heat wave, heater pilot light, and no AC. There was no A/C, and they were supposed to have an overhead fan like some of the other rooms. You could see where the overhead used to be. They removed it sometime in the past, instead of fixing or replacing it. Instead, there was a cheap floor fan, which didn't help. Santa Cruz cools down nicely at night, but still, it would be easy enough to install a/c so the room doesn't get so stuffy during the day. Disappointed to find out that on the gorgeous sunny day we checked in we were unable to use the pool in the later afternoon because of a wedding taking place in the area. Hotel needs updating. There isn't air conditioning and the room was stuffy. We had to leave the window open for air and the hotel is only one level so everyone walked by. It was uncomfortable. It is hard to imaging being hot and uncomfortable in Santa Cruz where the weather was around 75 degrees, but the room we had was closed up, facing away from any possible breeze, and stuffy. We called the front desc and they brought a portable fun. However, we were forced to sleep with window and shades open, exposing my family to all passer-bys all […] night. In addition to that we couldn't cool down in the pool after a day playing disc golf and the Boardwalk because the pool area was closed from 5:30 till 7pm for a wedding. Big problem!!!! NO AIRCONDITIONING. During 80* weather room was an oven. Cooled off for the evening and the overhead fan was helpful. Room was very clean and staff very pleasant.

A beautiful hotel that is not too crowded. The people are friendly and attentive and the hotel itself is comfortable but the best part is that it's conveniently located 10 minutes away from the beach. Avoid all the crowds and annoying beach goers by hitting up this gem of a hotel in Pasatiempo !

Dinner at the restauraunt was very good, fish offerings satisfactory and many courses were offered. The downer was not breakfast available on Sunday, but the local Santa Cruz Diner was a great find. Location is convenient and good freeway access, away from DT and other motels. Quiet location.
