"too hot in summer"
No AC in the summer was tough. Had to wait an hour past check in time to get our room. dissapointedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"This is more like a 1 star motel"
The lack of ac, filthy carpet, and mold was enough. We will not stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable and Convenient"
A comfortable nights sleep in a convenient place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was under renovation, so no immunities were available for use. I booked thru hotel.com and it didn't tell you this information or I would not of booked here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay-over after Golf"
I stayed at this hotel after a golf tournament at the adjacent golf course. The main lounge is undergoing renovation so that wasn't available. Not crucial, but somewhat disappointing. I asked to be moved from the first room because it had no water pressure in the shower... I mean zero. The shower in the second room worked, but the chain on the toilet […] mechanism broke. Knowing that the maintenance staff was gone for the day, I made a repair myself. Also, the carpets appear to be soiled. The rooms have no air conditioning and it had been a warm day. It's Santa Cruz, so it's livable, but the window had to be open all night. My wake up call was a garbage truck emptying the construction dumpster at 5:30 AM. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Smelled so bad we had to leave"
I have never had a smell so bad a hotel that we had to leave and ask for a refund, great location but desperately needs renovations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No Air Conditioning"
I wouldn't have booked this place had I know there was no air conditioning. It was hot during my stay & uncomfortable in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not A Good Experience"
Ironing board was broken and unuseable; hair dryer didn't work; no tub, just a shower with mold in it; when I went to move a chair, the arm came partly off (I barely touched it). I needed ice and couldn't find any so called the front desk twice. They did not answer. Bed was comfortable enough. Lights above dining table did not work. Electrical a series […] of extension cords and power strips. Overall, very disappointing. I'd like a refund. Coffee was like tea. Very bad. No a/c and room was warm when we arrived. "safe, lovely grounds, comfortable beds, charming"
My daughter and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Pasatiempo. We felt safe there. We were able to park our car just outside our room and we felt safe going out to the car to get items if needed. The beds were very comfortable. The room was inviting and clean. The grounds were lovely and peaceful. The breakfast had plenty of options and was laid […] out in an inviting manner. The staff was pleasant. The location was good. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. Very good value for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

No AC and it was hot. Old rooms, very little up grades, remodel going on in the lobbyGenuine Expedia guest review
"Reasonable room for a reasonable price"
Hotel is a bit worn at the edges. Some renovation work is being done to the lobby. The deck at the closed restaurant was yellow taped off. The room was nice enough but the ceiling fan needed a new switch. The staff is helpful and pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean and nice. The only downside is no air conditioning. They need to have air conditioning. It gets hot.Genuine Expedia guest review
It's a old motel but they're are doing a lot revamping looks like it will be a nice place to stay when it is finished.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not what we expected."
The room seemed clean and pleasant. It was an older facility with older fixtures, but seemed okay. Our biggest problem was that there was only a heater (not needed at all) with no air conditioning or air circulation. The windows were sealed and it became humid and warm. There was a ceiling fan which did not have an on/off switch and we had to open the […] outside door and fan it open and closed to get a little fresh air in the room. From the web site we knew the restaurant was being redone so that was no surprise. The continental breakfast was a good selection, well presented, plentiful and fresh with good service. Our first morning we came back from breakfast to find we had no electricity. The office was aware of the problem and said it was being fixed. We delayed leaving for the day hoping to use a hair dryer, curling iron & electric shaver. After quite a wait we left without feeling presentable for our activities. We were thankful that Santa Cruz is a beach town and that we did not have any meetings or appointments that we would be ill prepared to attend. Not really funny for those who may have been there for business rather than pleasure. We never did ask how long the electricity was out since it was back on when we returned at the end of the day.The web-site prepared us for lovely gardens and view. It was beyond run down and a great dissapointment. The location was perfect. The overall impression was unfavorable & overpriced considering the results. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"At discounted rate, place is worth the stay."
Wouldn't have been happy at full price, but discounted rate of $150 was doable. No restaurant at the time. Place is beginning to show its age. But, as far as just needing a place to stay, room was nice, comfortable and a very quick shot into Santa Cruz. Enjoyed my evening in town and good sleep for the night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great! Newly updated bathrooms, clean, comfortable beds, nice lobby and dining area in the main building, very convenient location (if you have a car, plus plenty of free parking at the inn!) just north if downtown. Would love to stay here again if I am back in Santa Cruz!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was spacious, clean and very pretty. Extremely quiet!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed here one night for a wedding in the area. I called to see if I could get an early check-in, and for some reason, my stay was booked on the incorrect night. It was probably my mistake, booking it in a hurry, but they were SO nice and were able to switch my stay to the correct night, give me an early check-in, and were really nice in general. The […] front office looked really messy -- that's the only negative I would have to give, and that's only because I manage an office, so I'm particular about it. I would definitely stay again! "Better than sleeping in a garbage dumpster? Maybe."
ROOM: hot, poor circulation, no AC. Desk clerk said we could use a fan, then said they were out of fans. Décor is shabby, in need of repair/paint. Armchair w/a broken arm, walls patched/stained, lamp had a burn-hole on the shade. Pocket-style bathroom door (slides into the wall) DID NOT CLOSE!! (Yuck!!!) Do you like sleeping in a bed w/sand in your […] sheets, when you haven't even been to the beach? Like sand in your carpet, on the bathroom floor, in your tub? That’s what you get here. POOL: closed for "security reasons." (There didn't seem to be anything obvious to prevent us from using it.) STAFF: Desk clerk very rude/unsympathetic. We asked for a manager & he said they had no way to reach one. My husband asked, "If the hotel were on fire, you're telling me there is no way you could reach your manager?" The young man said that is correct. We called hotels.com for help. They found us a room at another facility in the area for significantly more money, but by this time it was past 9pm & our kids desperately needed sleep, so we toughed it out. The kids slept, but my husband & I did not do as well because our bed sagged toward the middle & it was difficult to stay propped up on our respective sides. In the morning, we planned to skip breakfast but decided to check it out and see if perhaps that might be the ONE redeeming quality of this hotel. No such luck. The dingy, shabby dining room matched the quality of food items offered. I’d say more but we’re limited to 1500 characters. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old-time Elegance Gone, but not Forgotten"
The grounds of this once beautiful location are in need of TLC (Tender Loving Care). Lots of repairs need to be done. The bed was extremely uncomfortable as we rolled toward the center all night long. There must be a vinyl liner in-between the mattress pad cover since it didn't breath. It crackled when you turned over. Windows were hard to open for […] fresh air. Smokers smoked right outside the windows since there weren't any signs posted to deter them. The restaurant where I have had lovely romantic dining and the patio where I loved the beautiful flowers were closed. The noise from Highway 17 was heard even on the back "garden side" of the facility. We won't be going back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What a dump Pasatiempo has become!"
We got married here 15 years ago, thought we would come back and show our kids. The place is a dump now! Weeds and dead plants fill the once gorgeous garden, the "grass" is a patchwork of dead sod panels, the wooden gazebo has been replaced by rusty metal and plastic, the room was dirty with stained upholstery and carpets- both were still there from […] 15 years prior, the widow was put on backwards so that it could be opened from the outside, the air smelled of garbage and sewer, Peachwoods was closed, no flower baskets or flowers in the boxes. It was a truly awful experience! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
To bad the photos shown did not reflect the condition of this hotel much of it is on need of repair and fixing up...rooms were stuffy and stunkGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel , nice rooms would have been better with a/c in our room. Like 85 degrees in room when we got there. Had to sleep with window open and the noise from freeway woke us up early to leave.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Peaceful yet close to the local sights."
The room had character, the pool was great and very easy access to freeway. It's 5 or so minutes from the boardwalk and wharf, yet in a quiet setting. Be sure to ask for a garden view room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Place is very quiet & perfectly located only min's from the beach & boardwalk & also to Skypark which is where a great fire works show is held every 4th of July. Great BIG beautiful pool & nice setting around it. Great place if any1 is looking for a wedding to b held at. :)))) we would chose the Inn next time we visit Santa Cruz for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stuffy rooms, no AC in the summer!"
There was no AC, and the room was super stuffy and hot. There was an in room fan as well as a ceiling fan but all it seemed to do was circulate the hot air instead of make the air cooler. Being in the room with the door closed was almost as bad as being in a sauna room. Also the guy who checked us in was weird, not welcoming whatsoever. Less than 20 […] minutes after checking in, he chased me to the room and in front of other hotel guests told me my card was declined. First of all they don't even need my card as the room was fully paid for. I understand that its for incidentals, but its no reason to chase a guest down. If anything he should have called my room. That was very unprofessional. The continental breakfast was OK there were pastries, bagels, hard boiled eggs, and yogurt. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet and charming"
Although the site is immediately off the highway it was very quiet. The other side of the property is a golf course, so you are nestled in between the Santa Cruz mountains and a golf course. Very quiet and private. The pool was great! And the room was spacious. All rooms are ground level so you don't have to worry about noise from above. Complementary […] breakfast was good, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cold cereal, oatmeal, pastries and coffee. Very easy to find and the perfect overnight before we hit the boardwalk! Would definitely stay here again. The only negative was the WiFi.... To be expected thought because of the location in the mountains. I could not get my IPad connected at all and my phone was not great either. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older, but in fine shape"
The room was in fine shape. Clean, and comfortable. Good for the price. No A/C, however, and it was a hot day, so was over 90 degrees in the room (with no airflow, so cooled slowly). The parking lot is ripped to shreds - needs to be repaired. Easy on and off the freeway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Comfortable and Clean for a Good Night's Sleep"
I had looked on Expedia and read all the reviews so I knew what to expect. The room was very small, but very clean. It was warm like others had noted, but there was a box fan in our room ready for use. We opened the door and put the fan in the doorway and opened the window and it cooled right down. We kept the fan on all night while we slept and we […] all slept well. Very quiet, did not hear our neighbors at all. Decent Continental breakfast. When we vacation we spend very little time in our room, so it was perfect for what we needed. And we got a great rate, so no complaints here! Would stay here again! "An old old style motel without A/C"
This is an old exterior door motel that's been given some paint and touch up on the inside. But it's still just a stale old motel. One problem is that there is no air conditioning in any of the rooms, and they don't tell you this before you check in to your room. When we called to ask about the lack of A/C in the room we were told "sorry" but they would […] bring us a fan within the hour. When it didn't arrive we called to check the status, as the room was unbearably hot and stuffy. We were then told "sorry we are out of fans but you could open the window." Problem there is everyone walks past your window as its a one story motel with an exterior door, near the freeway exit and this would be an obvious safety issue while asleep at night. Tiny room, thin walls where you can hear the neighbors conversations. I'd hit the Super 8 or Motel 6 in Santa Cruz which are nicer, safer and less money. Plus service couldn't be any worse or less caring. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good spot. Exactly what we expected!"
Staff was wonderful!! Rooms were clean & remodeled. Lovely little convenient spot in Santa Cruz. For the price, it was amazing & exactly what we expected. Yes . Without air conditioning it was a bit warm in the evening but it was nice & cool at night & we needed to turn off fan& shut the windows.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the price."
Room ready late. No apology. Poor location. Grounds are supposed to be beautiful and manicured gardens. NOT! They are all dried and dead! Restaurant closed forever. Don't waste your time or money on this dump!Genuine Expedia guest review
Upon arrival we were informed the restaurant was not open we had to make other plans to eat. It was very noisy hotel. Other guests were outside all night long making noise and waking us up. We did not get a good night sleep. On a positive the room was very clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our family stayed for one night and it was great. Everything wad super clean and very convenient. Definitely a great value on a last minute booking compared to HI EXPRESS. And worth the extra $8 to be gardenside. ThxGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyed Our Stay"
We spent an enjoyable night at the Inn. Although the property was being remodeled, it didn t bother the enjoyment of the property. My only concern is that I usually judge a property by the quality of the linens, bed sheets ,towels etc. I think that a better quality of linens would go a long way to make this a quality stay. The staff and management were […] very pleasant and I would totally recommend the Inn to our friends. Hotel is a bit dated and no A/C, but the location is great because easy to access highway and get to beach/boardwalk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
On Father's Day, my dad and I went to Santa Cruz for a graduation at UCSC. We needed a convenient place to stay for just a night. Despite the apathetic service from the hotel staff, the hotel seemed satisfactory at first due to the location, price, and room's size and cleanliness. Then, I had a quite unpleasant experience with my father regarding the […] extremely thin walls and the activity of a couple in the neighboring room. The room was kinda small but it was clean & nice. Beds were super comfortable. Pillows were great. I wanted to buy them. HD TV with HD cable. Bathroom was very clean. Big shower. "Hasn't changed in 25 years"
Rooms are large. Was married at Hollins House 26 years ago, this is the only motel close to Pasatiempo Golf course. Rooms I'm sure have not been re done. Old, lamps, same furniture, tired bathrooms. Price and location you can't beat, but if they'd redo the rooms and update they could double their rates.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"tricky to get to and from but great value"
Our stay was quick but nice. Had no problem with the WiFi, daughter was able to watch an online movie for school, write a final paper and submit it. The kitchen for the dinning room was not open, check if you are planning on eating at the hotel. A continental breakfast was included. There is also a fridge in the room but no microwave, anywhere, in the […] room or in a common areas. Little tricky to get to and although it was only 2 miles from the university, it took a lot longer to get to the hotel because you have to go past it on the 17, turn around and come back on the seventeen again to get to the correct exit. Nice quiet and pretty surroundings. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
