Hotel is 15 min walk from train station. Rooms are pleasant, clean, modern. Need mass transit to get most places. Staff was very helpful with helping us get around.

Overall good stay, the only beef I had is that I was charged an extra $10 for sheets and blanket which was not included in the room rate. (whereby I paid a hotel rate) assuming it would be included.

We stayed at Anker in early september 2011. Overall, very positive experience. The staff was helpful, room was conmfortable, especially by European standards, the breakfast buffet had many options and the breakfast area is large enough so that you have no issues finding a table anytime in the morning. You can also walk to the central station if you are catching a train or an airport shuttle and it is a quick cab ride from the ferries that come in from Olso and other curises. The hotel has both hostel and hotel portions, and we selected the hotel facility. We found the room clean and well-maintained. Floor where we were put was being refurbished. Painting and electrical work was being done on the floor. Room was neat and clean. Beds in all of Europe are not comfortable and this was no exception. Decent hotel for decent money. Would recommend. One big minus was the fact that internet did not work at all between 20.00-23.30 on any of the three nights I stayed at the hotel. The staff told me this was due to the hotel being fully booked, which suggests it was not only a temporary problem.

I thought this was a pleasant, clean, reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of the main railway and bus stations and also on tram route. I had a large, spotlessly clean room with loo and shower, with a choice of three beds. This hotel has its own hostel next door and is not located in the best part of Oslo. There was 2 attempts on my wallet from the Tram stop to the hotel during my visit. I paid extra for a room with satelite TV as I was staying for 10 days. This was not available in my room and as advertised "not guaranteed". There is better hotels in Oslo to stay.

Good value place to stay in central Oslo. The hotel is adequate without being super swanky, good free wireless internet access and a comfortable place to work & sleep for the evening. Bathroom a little basic but functional, shower was warm & powerful.

We stayed 4 nights at the Anker Hotel. When we arrived we took a taxi from the bus station but we discovered afterwards we could easily have walked it. The hotel is not that far from the station or Karl Johangate. The rooms were lovely, free WIfi available to check emails. Reception were helpful with queries we had. There was plenty to eat at breakfast […] but the hot food was usually gone cold. So we just stuck with the continental breakfast items. There was a bus/tram stop just down the street (Hausmanns Gate) so it was very easy to get around. Would recommend the hotel. Read more

We were disappointed with the Anker Hotel. We trust Internet reviews to select a hotel. This time they were misleading. We do not expect a 5-star hotel at a 3-star price, but it was far from what we've found in other major cities in Scandinavia for a similar cost. The room was very small and none of the usual amenities were provided; no clock, no drawers, […] no mini-bar or fridge, no coffee maker, no in-room mini-safe, and no ice machine on the floor. The wireless Internet is good when it works, but there was a prolonged interruption of over 24 hours. The deadbolt on the room door wouldn't work. There is a hostel and low rent apartments next door, and it is noisy at night. We were there in mid-June and some nights were hot and stuffy (no A/C.) If you leave the window open, you can't sleep due to the noise. It is not really centrally located, but there is tram car service to the city centre near the front door. It is not located if a safe area, and especially at night, the streets are rife with pick-pockets, drug dealers and prostitutes. The breakfast is adequate, but not great. On the positive side the the bed is comfortable. The front desk staff are polite and helpful, but they can't make up for the deficiencies of the rooms and the hotel location. This hotel may be OK if you are just spending a single night in Oslo, but if you are going to be there any longer, find another hotel. We will not come back to the Anker Hotel, and we do not recommend it to others. Read more
