"Nice Hotel Good Location"
Great hotel. I enjoyed my stay. I give it 5 stars. The rooms are great and the staff is friendly. The waikiki beach is a 5 min walk from hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Feels like home."
Excellent location and service. The room at the end of the hall was a bit noisy with traffic headed up and down the stairs, you can hear the door slam every time. Otherwise completely satisfied. Would stay here again and again! The price is right. Loved all of our hosts at the desk: helpful and treated us like family.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Housekeeping consisted of making the bed. Removed the towels but did not replace. We asked and recd more towels later. Had coffee in room first day; want coffee second day you have to pay. But they have free newspapers! Room we had was a 'pool' view room. To see the pool you had to go outside look past the maintenance equipment and mops and such. Chairs […] and seats all had stains; shower has no place but the floor to put soap etc. Would not go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just not for me"
Most of the other guest were older and they seem to be very comfortable and satisfied. This was not me experience; the pillows were filthy and the towels were stained, the balcony seemed to be adjacent to someones apartment. The air conditioner was actually, just a fan. For what they charged for the room and parking - I think not! The staff, by the […] way, were exceptional. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Inexpensive motel centrally located."
This motel is not for the guest requiring poolside bars or cabanas. It is only a few short blocks to the beach and close to franchised restaurants. There are some nice local restaurants and bars near by also. We never felt unsafe.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Walking distance to the beach"
The hotel is a little old but kept in good shape. The jacuzzi didn't work but the pool was in proper working order and cleaned every morning. Our rooms were very large and had a full size refrigerator, stove, coffee pot, microwave, sink and pots and pans, ect. House keeping came in every afternoon and mopped and vacuumed, replaced towels, but never changed […] the sheets in the 8 days we were there. We were three blocks from the beach and walking distance to down town. My only complant was parking. They had about 15 parking spots for about 60 rooms. Parking cost $25.00 per day and the spots were very close together making it very hard to get in and out. Over all for the cost I would come back cause I only use the room to sleep in. I would much reather spend my money on other activites Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent, near to the beaches and others atractio"
The most important experience was, the facilities to take the city buses, walking to the atractions activities and so many others things.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel, close to everything."
In general, my stay was very nice. My only point of concern had to do with the absence of cleaning or replacing used utensils each day, i.e. coffee cup, glass and wine glass. These were left by me on the counter in the bathroom, but none were cleaned or replaced on a daily basis.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small hotels are grand"
I loved my stay at the hotel. The staff was very accomodating. The front desk was great from the time i checked in with jason till at the very last minute i decided to stay a extra nite christieann. "From Horrible to Royal"
Upon check-in we were treated horribly by the front desk person initial "J". We were put in an awful room with 3-twin sized beds and told this was all he could do. By the next day we were treated like royalty by a different front desk person named "C" and she changed our room to a very nice room and treated us wonderful the remainder of our stay. "Convenient mid-Waikiki hotel"
I have stayed at the White Sands many times dating back over 20 years. While it is not a fancy hotel, it FEELS more Hawaiian in spirit and accommodation. The staff strives to please wherever possible. I have always been comfortable there and will return as often as possible.Genuine Expedia guest review
"White Sands excellent find"
White Sands is a hidden find in Waikiki. Close enough to the "Waikiki Experience" with easy access to H1 to get out and explore Oahu. Staff is extremely friendly and always there to greet you with an "Aloha" the garden area at the pool is an island experience itself. I will look here first on my next trip to Oahu. Mahalo White Sands!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Place to Stay"
Hotel is a 8 minute walk from the beach. You are in the heart of shopping. Ladies will enjoy that every much. Men are along for the ride.Genuine Expedia guest review
We phoned the hotel to get driving directions since we did not know the area. It was late in the evening and we were very tired. The staff member was not helpful. He kept saying to head to the beach which we had no idea of the direction of the beach since it was dark. We had no GPS system on our rental car or on our phone. He (the man on the phone) […] made a very rude and derogatory remark about our status as senior citizens. I did not appreciate his opinion and attitude towards us! He told us to stop at a gas station, which we did; but received no help from them. Finally in desperation, we found a very friendly young man that actually had us follow him to the hotel. We are so grateful for his kindness. Maybe he should be employed by the hotel!! When we arrived to check-in, the man at the front desk was the one who had been rude to us earlier. He was a complete jerk. Because of this unfortunate experience we would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A bit dated and not quite to expectations"
While the hotel is very conveniently located, close to all the Waikiki hot spots, the hotel and rooms are a bit dated and smaller than they appeared online. Also, the city view we got was that of the next door hotel wall along with laundry hanging off the balconies. If you have a car Parking is very limited and is an additional $25.00 per night. Staff […] is pleasant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room and tv were a little small but other wise comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly, The only things to complain about was that there were cigarette ashes on the couch cushion and the room was right nexr to an exit so it was kinda loud in the morning. But other than that it was a good stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ok for overnight stay"
We were only there for the night, which was good. The building and amenities were obviously old and didn't seem very clean. It was wiped down. Bed was clean and semi-comfortable. Noise from busy surroundings was distracting in the middle of the night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the beach and a lot of stores"
First time in Hawaii and it was a good hotel to stay at with the budgetGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, not-so-great room"
It was located right next to Duke's lane. Was very easy to access Waikiki beach. The outside of the hotel was nice. The service was great. However, the condition of the room itself was deplorable and super shabby. Especially if you are considering a romantic gateaway, stay away from this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice old place"
A bit of old Hawaii - a 3 story place in Waikiki. Location quite handy to central Waikiki, Kuhio buses. Pool area very nice and pool deeper that most. Next time, I'll insist on a pool view! The bed was wobbly, but that may be room-specific. Parking: not free, $15 for Kama'aina, else $25. Ilima next door is free but can fill up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
You get what you pay for. It was just a cheap hotel we chose just to keep our things at while on vacation and get some rest at night. It was definitely old.. Dated and needs new furniture, but it was clean.Genuine Expedia guest review

"My stay was great eventhough the place was a DUMP"
Pros: Great front desk staff, location was blocks from the beach, shops and restaurants, pool was super clean and did not have a lot of chlorine or chemicals, grounds/landscaping was tropical with a koi pond and other interesting features that other small hotels do not have, room was clean equipped with a kitchen (utencils, cleaning towels, bowls, a […] lot of stuff needed to feel comfortable), our patio was private and had a small table with two chairs. CONS: there is a dirt bag bar with low life junkies handing out that made me feel very uncomfortable having to walk by on my way to the beach. The street the the hotel is located on is rough looking and almost abandoned by the city. In the two days that I was at the hotel, someone had throw out a industrial sink on the side walk and a small beaten up refridgerator. No one, not even the city cared to remove those two items. I came to this hotel because of the special rate I got on the web and the photos on the website made the hotel look great but if you dont mind a sketchy area, then you will enjoy yourself in Waikiki. I normally stay in 4-5 star hotels and spend a night but on this specific occasion of island hoping (from Maui to Oahu) I just wanted to do a cheap get-away. I would not come back again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Okay, close to the international market place"
The hotel is okay, nothing fancy. I got a bigger single room w/ a small kitchen and dining area. The closet is in the bathroom. Everything was functioning, no issues with the AC, TV, blow dryer. The staff was okay and the maid was able to make-up the room everyday. Parking was a hassle, since the slots were close to one another and costs $25/day. They […] have a small pool and I think lemon water. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Friendly hotel with low rates"
We chose the White Sands based on its location and low price. We were pleasantly surprised by the nice courtyard with waterfall and pool of fish, big palm trees and excellent swimming pool. Its a small three story place surrounded by taller apartment buildings, but it is quiet and relaxing. The staff is extremely friendly and laid back, they don't bug […] you about anything. We made friends with other guests from the US and Europe, its that kind of place. There are three mini-marts and a friendly local pub within half a block, we made friends there, too. There is a city bus stop half a block away on Kuhio St., making it easy to get anywhere in Honolulu, including the airport. The hotel building probably dates from the sixties, but it is well maintained and spotlessly clean. No central air but the window AC worked well and wasn't too noisy. Don't stay here if you are used to staying at the Ritzy Glitzy, but if you want a comfortable and inexpensive hotel in a great location, you wont be disappointed Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"clean and close to the beach"
If you are looking for a basic hotel, cheap and central; this is the place. Staff very friendly only bad thing is the parking they will charge $25 per day, and bad because they didnot tell you since day 1. Surprise the very last day they will charge on your credit card. Let me suggest go across the street and pay $15 per day.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Warning: no elevator"
If you can't handle stairs, you need to get a handicapped room. However, they will haul your bags up & down the stairs. I give this hotel 4 stars not for the high quality of the hotel (it isn't *that* nice), but rather for its value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nothing fancy but good for longer stay"
The room was dated and furniture old, but it was clean. Would be great for a longer stay as it has a full size fridge, small stove, and kitchen sink. It is located in a convenient place for shopping, restaurants, and Waikiki Beach. They charged a lot for parking in their lot each day ($25/day). Nice pool area. They also provide a grill by the pool/sitting […] area if you want to grill out. Not a bad place to stay if you are not into fancy rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient, no frills, good deal"
The hotel rooms and hallway need renovation. However, the pool and pool area are nice, the location is convenient to the conference center and Waikiki, and the mini-kitchen had what we needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I liked that this hotel had a grill, however, I was on my honeymoon and needed bed sheets changed daily ( if you know what I mean). I noticed that they weren't, so I kept asking the cleaning staff if I can grab bed sheets and I changed it on my own almost daily. When I arrived back home, I noticed a nasty big white head on my back and it hurt. "squeaking toilette fixture"
My room was located on the ground floor in front of vending machines and ice maker machines and the front desk was just around the corner of my room. The room was also facing the public pool. If I opened the curtain, my room would be completely exposed to strangers. Simply put, it was noisy. On top of it, the dingy bathroom has an excruciatingly irritating […] flushing system malfunction. The toilette fixture was apparently out of order, every 5 minutes or so, it makes automatically flushing action. At the end of automatic flushing, it made a long squeaking noise as if some punk were slowly scratching a chalk board. I closed the bath room door at night, but I was still hearing it. There is no wireless service inside the room. They changed me usage fee of Ethernet modem. The complementary coffee was given on the first night. On the second day forward, the maid service did not leave a coffee package. I stayed there for a week. When I opened the bathroom mirror cabinet door, I am afraid that they have not cleaned up the inside of the cabinet at all for months. I saw a pile of dust here and there. I did not feel safe to put my personal hygienic items inside. Also, I think that they have not cleaned grouts inside the shower room for a while. Neither did they the tile of the bathroom floor in general. They gave me a set of clean bath towels and others. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A charming find tucked away in the city."
We loved White Sands Hotel! It's a bit like stepping back in time with its style and location. We felt like it was tucked away and the city had just built itself around it. Our room opened up onto a quaint little deck right off the pool. A fun stay for a night or two in Waikiki!Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel isn't by any means the royal Hawaiian, but we didnt want to pay for that. Initially they charged more for the room, but we added a night and the rate dropped to $85- this hotel isn't worth more than $100 a night so that was good. Only issue was we had to stay in a room with two twin beds..on our honeymoon. They offered to let us move rooms the […] second night but that's a hassle. Otherwise it was just an ok stay- beds weren't comfortable. Cleaning staff was really nice. Room was clean- had full kitchenette and balcony to pool- and pool was refreshing! Cheap says it all. Low budget option but it has a nice little pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a shabby but fairly clean room if you don't look too closely. There is a lovely pool area that has rooms facing that are probably nicer than the room I had. My main complaint is that this hotel has only 14 parking spaces and the hotel does nothing to mitigate this inconvenience. We paid up to $35 at parking garages and never once got to use […] the hotel parking. On weekends parking is even more difficult. If you think the price of this hotel is too good to be true, remember to tack on an average of $25 for parking each day and nothing is free. We couldn't even print our return flight itinerary without handing over a credit card. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great choice for a budget hotel that is central!"
The staff made it worth the stay! They kept my bags while I went snorkeling even though I had checked out. I used their facilities after snorkeling (outside shower) wireless! My room was noisy because of proximity of neighbors with kids and loud TV but quietened after 10 pm. I felt safe in the hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
"perfect for family vacation"
good location, comfortable room. The 1 bedroom with kitchen was perfect for us. Our kids had their own room with television. It was cozy .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Hidden Little Gem"
initially when we arrived I thought this was a dump because when we went to the 2nd floor where our room was located, the carpet on the hall was very dirty, but once you go into the room you're pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean, comfortable, roomy and quiet. Our room came with a double bed with a pool view. You have to pay $2 a day if you […] want to use the safe but I think is well worth it. The small kitchen gave us the ability to cook daily breakfast and the ocassional meal, keep food items and beer cold and/or save leftovers for the next day, and our coffe maker was always replenished. There is an ice-maker by the pool and free newspaper in the lobby. This hotel is very closed to the beach, right on downtown so you don't have to travel far for anything unless, obviously, if you're going on a special event. We opted not to rent a car because of this and because of the availability of bus service. Besides, the hotel only has about 12 to 15 stalls and charges $25 a night. Although there's a public parking right across the street. Like I said, we found the hotel to be very quiet for being so closed to the center of activity. My only advised to management is to keep the cold lemon water out every day. The last couple of days they removed it, maybe because it was Monday and Tuesday, but at least I had no hidden charges after checking out. I'd definitively go back or recommend it to friends and family. A total hidden gem! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
