However, the carpark outside reception was open to the public, and folk who were not guests, parked below our room and for quite some time were fighting and swearing, and the hotel had no security guard to deal with such a situation. I had a day-long stay between the ship I was traveling on docking and sailing again. The hotel was fine for what I needed. Very basic but good rate. Staff was very helpful and friendly. If you don't have a car, ask about the fare-free zone for use of public transport.

I liked the proximity to Woolworths, and the restaurants along the waterfront. Room was modern and clean. Aircon did not work, but it was cool enough just to leave the window open.

Ibis Newcastle hotel staffs are very helpful. The location is close to all attractions in the CBD. There is a iPod speaker in the room, and the bed is very comfortable.

The man on reception was friendly and helpful giving us a map of the area and info on local buses and places to go. Our room was small but had everything we needed including an iron and ironing board. One great addition was a combined alarm click/iPod docking station so we could charge 2 iPhones at once. It was all very good! If wanting to stay in newcastle it would be better closer to the beach & stay at east newcastle. The pillows were a bit uncomfortable tho, we ended up using our own that we brought with us.

I was happy will most aspects of my stay. The staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable. My only disappointment was the pillows for the bed which were quite lumpy and uncomfortable, but that aside my experience was a positive one.

Arrived late at night and spending a long day at the Hunter Valley wineries. Reception were attentive and helpful even though it was very late. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Booked at last minute as we lost our booking at another stop. Room was fine, bathroom is like a pod which is odd but it was clean. Staff friendly. Not located too well and didn't feel very safe on walk to the harbour for dinner so got a cab back. Left early next morning to go to a nicer town so not much more to say. Its ok.

The staff at the hotel were helpful and kind. I would stay there again. I stayed on a night when the Bistro was closed but was able to get some food to eat from the helpful staff. If I had felt like going out, there were some great restaurants not too far away.

We enjoyed our stay at Ibis, friendly staff good service and with the exception of a hiccup on checkout it was a nice relaxing Christmas Break.... My advice to future guests is not to leave debit/credit card as deposit card. It took me days to get the full amount back...
