We just needed a room for the night after an event in the area, so I was looking for a decent, clean place to stay without frills. On arrival we were welcomed by the owner, courteous and friendly. We were immediately comfortable with the place and the room was fine and clean as required. We asked at check-in if a menu could be sent up to the room, […] as there were some great aromas coming from the kitchen. No problem, it arrived 5 mins later. Bathroom and shower was fine, with plenty of clean towels and shampoo/soap etc. We then had one of the best country pub meals we've ever had from a varied menu. Fresh ingredients made to order in delicious sauces and with a good wine selection. It was noticeable that the staff were efficient but also smiling, relaxed and knowledgeable (rare these days) and the atmosphere was nice, no stressed clients or management and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was the same as the evening meal. Fresh ingredients, cooked to order and coffee/tea and juice on tap! Great value, good people, mission accomplished and we would recommend to anyone wanting good value for money. Read more

Interior of bar nice staff are pleasant seriously let down by beds, second time we have stayed and thought we would give it the benefit of doubt but let down again by the standard of beds. No sleep atol mattress like sleeping on the floor. Not happy and will no recommend anyone to stay there

the hotel was ok bit scruffy in the corridors stale damp smell and plug in airfreshners everywhere that tells a story on its own the shower was very weak took ages to have a shower.The outside of hotel was very scruffy .Garden area at the back has been nice at one time they planted some flowers but failed to tidy the area up first weeds everywhere grass […] needing cut .Rubbish lying around old boxes and wall lights outside the bk door and the carpark was a complete mess front of hotel wasnt much better weeds everywhere Read more

I booked this hotel on the basis that is in IN THIRSK. Imagine my anger when my sat nat took me to the postcode only to find the hotel was actually 5.5 miles away in Topcliffe! The only point in staying here is it's close to the Crab and Lobster, so if you can't afford the Crab's extortionate room prices, it will do. Just don't expect anything and you wont be disappointed.

We picked this hotel as it was on our way and the location and price were adequate. Our room was very standard with old style mini tvs. Food in the restaurant/pub wasn't very good. I had the burger which I didn't enjoy. The breakfast was fine though with a good choice of cereals and cooked options. Free wi-fi didn't work.

The Hotel was ideal for what we wanted, a one night stay to see friends. The price was very reasonable. The room was large and clean, the telly tiny. The bathroom was a good size but needed updating due to a broken sisten lid, a slow shower which made the bath slippery. and the ceiling had stains on, all could be easily rectified. price for a double room including breakfast, quite reasonable i thought until we arrived and seen the room. Very 80's style fruniture that needs to be replaced, wardrobe and TV unit had parts of the edges missing and very dusty. Bathroom very early 80's and in need of updating.
