"Excellent Hotel Stay"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 10, 2010
My husband and I tried this hotel for the first time this weekend and were very pleased with our stay. The staff was very friendly and we were allowed to check in several hours before 3 pm. The room was beautiful- very modern- and the bed was very comfortable. We called for extra blankets before bed and they brought blankets, sheets, and half blankets- very thoughtful. This hotel is in a good location in terms of access to parts of the city and it's right across from the Galleria Mall. Keep in mind that you will have to pay $20 for valet parking- it's the only parking option. We will definitely be back!

Awesome hotel. My favorite hotels to stay at is The W and typically comes at $200/night price tag. This hotel is owned by the same management company and is basically a W hotel without the price. Well worth the price even with the $18 mandatory valet. Clever people can bypass the valet charge if you're willing to walk a block if you know what I mean. The only drawback is this hotel is in far North Dallas. I lived in Dallas for 25 years and know the layout of the city. It may not be worth it if you plan on a night of drinking downtown. You'll end up with a $50 cab ride BOTH WAYS for those not willing to drink and drive. It's perfect for people wanting to stay in the North Dallas, Addison, Plano, or Frisco areas.

Reviewed by Sylvia of Germany on Dec 9, 2009
This is my first stay at Le Meridien and hotels.com offered a surprisingly competitive rate. I always thought that Le Meridien hotels were luxury hotels. This particular one across the street from the Galleria was beautiful. The layout is very open with rooms lining the walls of the hotel and a large open space from lobby to the roof. The lobby area is pretty empty with plenty of seats and one bar. The room is a nice size and if you get one with two double beds, it is more than enough space for two adults with many bags of luggage. I asked for complimentary water bottles and they delivered a few extra right to the door. The WiFi signal was weak but FREE, awesome 40" LCD TV, no mini-bar. This hotel is on the quieter side of the Galleria and you can walk to the mall by entering through Macy's, about a 1.5 minute walk! Only hassle is that they didn't have self-parking so we HAD to wait for our car every time we wanted to drive somewhere. They charge you a single valet fee per night, so no matter how many times you park and retrieve the vehicle, you will get charged $18.00 flat rate per night.

The hotel is decorated in a contemporary, fun style. Our bill was expensive considering all the additional fees for commonly complimentary amenities. There was valet-only parking. Breakfast was expensive. The worst problem we had was listening to a loud elevator all during the time we were there. There were no vending machines, so if you wanted something you had to pay their inflated prices. The beds were comfortable and the TV was excellent.

We've stayed here before Le Meridien acquired the property and changed the decor. Our expectation s were high, but we found the new room layout rather awkward. There are no drawers in th eroom at all. That made it difficult to store clothing items. The first night we were awakened several times with a strange noise occurring every two or three minutes. We learned that it was the nearby elevators which affected only the top floor (premium rooms). Then on the first morning there was no hot water. We found that the hotel was workiing on that problem. After moving to another room to avoid the noise problem we were more satisfied, but would still not recommend the hotel to others.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. But if you want to bring kids to swim, forget it. The lovely indoor pool was way too cold to swim, and the hot tub was on killer hot setting. I complained twice but they checked and said it was the right temp, 103. Ouch. I wasn't told at booking that parking was $20 so parked across the street at the Galleria for free. No free breakfast or phone calls, but everything else about this place was amazing. Gorgeous!

Our overall experience in this hotel was excellent. The rooms are decorated in very modern/minimalist style and present a very clean and appealing atmosphere. Valet parking does cost an extra $20 a day, but it is so convenient at this hotel. The cars were parked immediately in front of the hotel entrance where they can be watched. It took only one or two minutes to get my car. The hotel staff for all extremely courteous and helpful with the exception of one person. That person was the receptionist to greeted us when we first arrived at the hotel. She informed us that we had reserved five rooms, when in fact we had reserved only one room. She was arrogant and act as if we were committed to pay for five rooms. I was able to produce paperwork I had brought with me showing that our reservation was for one room. She made a copy of that and then reduced our reservation to one room. But, I did not like her attitude. Aside from this, it is a great hotel and I would stay there again.

The decor of this upscale hotel is very modern. It looks great but lacks a little in comfort. We weren't expecting to pay to valet park overnight and there was no other option. Make sure you consider parking fees when booking if price is a factor in your decision. The location was great for a weekend of shopping at the Galleria. We were their for a football game weekend and probably would have been happier in a more family oriented hotel. However I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for Fancy not Family.
