"What a charmer..."
During a long road trip it's such a pleasure to stay in a lovingly preserved, well-appointed place like Brookstown. Hope we have a chance to return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were welcomed, made to feel like family and treated to a charming room, milk and cookies before bed and a delicious continental breakfast in the morning!! 5 STARS for sure!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bed and breakfast feel. Open and spacious rooms. Only 5 minutes from Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center (the reason we were in the area) and so much better than a regular chain hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You gotta meet Sally"
Great place, people, rooms and a wonderful place to spend time as a family or romantic get a way.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our room was beautiful with high ceilings and exposed brick. We were given good, free wine and cheese in the evening but continental breakfast was limited. Room was very warm and thermostat was difficult to control. Room was very clean and comfortable otherwise.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good times every time we stay!"
Pleasant location, wine bar, cookies and milk and breakfast. Excellent nearby restaurants----the best is Willow Bistro. One day or many; try it!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Business traveler wanting home feeling"
This hotel was absolutely fantastic! It is in a very quaint neighborhood and the history in the hotel is amazing! The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and hotel and were happy to share. Room was huge and very comfortable. There is a house cat, Sally, that is very friendly and even knows her name! The only downside is that I was charged for […] some toiletries I had forgotten which are complimentary at most big-chain hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We found the Brookstown Inn to be very charming! We missed the wine and cheese reception, but did make it to the bedtime cookies and milk - and they were very delicious! The room itself was very spacious, the beds extremely comfortable, and loved that there were extra pillows in the wardrobe. The in room Keurig was a nice touch!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cute Historical Building"
I loved the look of the Brookstown Inn. The room was so much nicer than any chain hotel we have ever stayed in. The bed was very comfortable. We loved the exposed brick and high ceilings in the rooms. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. Breakfast was just basic cereal, pastries, fruit, etc., but it was served in a dining room with cloth […] napkins, tablecloths, and real dishes and tableware. The downside: the walls are extremely thin and we could hear voices. Luckily, everyone seemed to go to sleep around 10:30 or 11:00 and we slept well. We loved the beds, the sheets and the white quilts. The pillows were not so great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"2 night getaway"
This is one of the better decisions that I made travelling ever. I have traveled in the US and in other countries! I have stayed in "flea-traps" and I have encountered granite and marble and the very best of dining . The Inn was a very very good decision. I love the nostalgia and the Decour and the high ceilings ,large windows and then on top of that […] we had snowcapped views from the snowfall that evening and it was absolutely delightful. We were looking at a postcard. The service was very good and it is centrally located. The price was outstanding and it has a nice continental breakfast with fresh fruit. We will be back! We may even plan a group trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
For me, the Historic Brookstown inn was love at first site. The lobby is warm and inviting, with a coy lounge and fireplace that you actually want to sit by. They offer complimentary wine and cheese AND milk and cookies every evening. My room was on the third floor. It was spacious and beautifully decorated with large wooden beams for character. The […] bathroom was modern and hue. My bed was soft with lots of pillows. If you're a cat person, you will be lucky to meet Sally. The location is fantastic! It's in Old Salem very close to downtown. There is a fantastic bakery across the street, but with such a fantastic continental breakfast, you may not need to go. I highly recommend this Inn. Heads and shoulders above the corporate places. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

spacious rooms, convenient parking. Other than a bunch of kids running around it was great...the kids settled down by 9pm so no real issue there either. Very surprised of the quality for the price...great price value!Genuine Expedia guest review
Unforgettable stay. Cool rooms, beautiful building, great staff!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Do not stay here in cold conditions!!!!"
My family rented two rooms. The first room we checked into was 53 degrees when we arrived. We switched to a room that was 60 degrees. We turned the heat up full blast and it never got over 63 degrees. Think of having to shower in those conditions. My folks room was the same, never got over 63 degrees. My dad couldnt bring himself to shower in the room, […] too cold. This hotel just doesnt have sufficient heating system. You will regret staying here in cold conditions. "Very nice room"
I stayed one night at the Inn. My room was very large and spacious. There was a chandelier and the room had a very high ceiling. There was a large wardrobe that contained a mini fridge and coffee maker inside. The bathroom was very spacious and beautifully designed. The bed was very comfortable. I would recommend this Inn to anyone.Genuine Expedia guest review
Love the uniqueness of the place! Exposed brick, talk ceilings, spacious and comfortable rooms. Loved it. The only problem was when I tried to take shower in the morning and the water never got warm. There is nothing like taking a cold shower at a place you paid good money to stay. When I mentioned that at checkout the overnight staff person was not […] sympathetic - she simply stated that I needed to let it run for 5-10 minutes as if that should be common sense. I can assure you that the water never got warm despite running for at least 10 minutes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice place iwth lots of personality and history - so much more interesting than a normal cookie cutter hotel at about the same price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel is different than standard hotel and stands out for it's charm. Room was double the size of a regular hotel and extremely comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was a wonderful surprise, so beautiful and comfortable.Loved the old brick walls and wood beams still there. We're coming back .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and I stay here at least once a year for a quick break. We normally stay a few nights. We love the character of this renovated Cotton Mill. The service and management are excellent. The location is walking distance to Old Salem. It is also located near town where there are some good places to eat. Will stay again...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Authentic historic hotel"
The Brookstown in was very quaint. Our room had brick walls and had a nice rustic feel to it. There were no toiletries other than a bar of soap in the bathroom and I was a little surprised at that! The water in the shower was not very hot and the fittings in the faucet were loose and came apart a couple of times. All the staff we interacted with were […] very friendly though! Lovely hotel in restored cotton warehouse in the heart of Winston-Salem - very close to Old Salem, UNCSA, & Baptist Hospital. Nice decor, large lovely rooms, nice staff. Breakfast included - good (not great.) Water in shower took a long time to get hot.Genuine Expedia guest review
"What a find"
I arrived after a long travel day and was welcomed by a wine and cheese reception in the living room. It was delightful. The room was large and clean. "Great historic hotel"
Stayed here on business and wanted to try something different. Great experience; very unique with brick walls, 12-15' ceilings and historic feel and atmosphere. Breakfast was light but very good. Was nice for a weekend visit. Room was clean but the baseboards needed to be re- painted. The beds were comfortable, but the pockets in the fitted sheet weren't deep enough and kept coming off of the corner of the bed at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very nice, as always. Cleanliness and quality was 5 out of 5!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Deal, Unique Setting"
Staff was extremely helpful and courteous, very cool loft-style building. Stay here often, as it's a tremendous value for the money. Rooms recently updated, beds extremely comfortable but room a little drafty and neighboring voices (just speaking normally) could be heard clearly enough to be a little annoying, coming through either the walls or air […] vents. Great breakfast room, happy hour a nice touch, continental breakfast OK. Coffee could use improvement as far as quality. Great place to explore downtown W-S, esp. Old Salem, though arts district and some of restaurants/bars are a bit of a hike if you want to walk. Overall, though, really can't be beat! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charming but needs updating"
We have stayed at the Brookstown Inn for years and noticed this trip that the hotel needs work. There is a musty smell throughout the corridors. All of the furnishings look worn and somewhat dirty. There was dust caked on the fake ivy above the fireplace. The most obvious update is needed in the bathrooms. The look has the feel of the early 1990s and […] here we are 20 years later. WIth the proper updates, this inn can have it all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old Salem Experience"

"Great location, disappointing room"
Couldn't have been a better location. Loved the historic feel and looked, but needed more updates. There was no way to have on the bedside light without also having on the overhead light. Blinds were broken and not sufficient to the tall windows.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Heart of Winston-Salem"
Overall a great value. Beautiful Hotel. Very large and comfortable room. Great Bed. Very clean. Terrific location. The bathroom needed a new paint job. Could hear other rooms talking easily.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed here only for 1 night while I was volunteering for a program. The room was very cute and the sheets were so soft. I didn't want to get out of bed. This would be the perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway. A friends who was with me is already planning her next stay with her boyfriend. The rooms have a lot of space and were very clean!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is now one of my top ten favorite hotels! It is in a historic building so the distinctive architecture was charming and the room was spacious. The bed was plush and comfortable. Special touches included wine and cheese in the early evening and warm cookies and milk later in the evening. A wonderful place to relax!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy and comfortable"
Had the best stay at the Brookstown Inn - the room was spacious and comfortable. The bed had the softest linens and I slept great! "Wonderful historical preservation"
Our stay was great !! The Inn was wonderful and the staff was very accommodating .Genuine Expedia guest review
So much nicer than a chain hotel - only drawback is that it isn't super well sound insulated and we could hear the gentlemen upstairs talking late into the night even though he wasn't being all that loud. I would definitely return though!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"With "Historic" in the name you never know!"
Pleasantly surprised. With "Historic" in the name let's just say I'm prepared for surprises. Room was clean, only complaint about room itself was a faint odor like someone had smoked in it or an adjacent room. Room was a "non-smoking" room but we all know sometimes people cheat. Loved the ambiance, brick walls, vaulted ceiling, also the room was extremely […] quiet...not at all like the noisy chain hotels. Checked in late in the day so did not get to visit the "Winston Salem" visitor center which was too bad I am a huge history buff. Still interesting stuff on the walls in the lobby about how the hotel came to be. We did check in just before a nice surprise. Cookies and milk in the lounge area adjacent to the elevator. Nice touch. Amenities were very nicely updated. No "claw foot" bathtub, clanking pipes, or rust colored water... nicely modernized. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Spacious & Great Character"
I stayed overnight on business, but would gladly stay again with my husband for an adult weekend, or weekend with the kids. The room was very spacious with a sitting area and two beds. The bathroom was very large. The room and the bathroom were clean, which is always one of the first things I check when I get into a room. The character of this place […] is amazing with the wood beams and the old windows. A true gem in the heart of Winston-Salem! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
