"Great Hotel at a Great Price"
Perfect location to enjoy Old Salem and great local restaurants, easy access to wine country and the interstate makes the Brookstown Inn areal bargain. This remodeled textile mill has a lot of charm and history. Local wine in the evening is an added touch of class. As old as the building is, everything is up to date and clean. Love this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night, good experience"
Loved the historic feel. Room temperature was noticeably warm and we couldn't adjust the thermostat. Enjoyed the neighborhood food and bars.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint and Charming with great service.... but old"
We really did find this hotel just as interesting and quaint and delightful as they come. The wine reception in the afternoon and the milk and cookies at night were darling. The front desk employees were a true delight. Breakfast was perfectly fine -- your basic continental and that's fine. The location was interesting, if confusing. We didn't know […] the area well at all and we kind of felt like we were in the middle of town but in an abandoned area of that town. Nothing much was nearby or within walking distance. But we had a car, so we managed. My biggest problem was the smell. The hotel is OLD... okay? It's quaint, but it's old. Our room smelled like my great-grandmother's house. She didn't smoke, but she was old. The faint smell of mold, maybe, and just ... OLDness permeated our room. Our only other option was a 4th floor room that would have required us to haul all of our stuff up a flight of steps (the elevators only go up to floor #3), so we chose the old-smelling room. Still, I must admit, that due to charm and service alone, I would definitely stay here again if I ever need to return to W-S! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The stay at the Historic Brookstown Inn was for my wife and I's 26th anniversary. The Brookstown Inn is in a good location. It is very close to downtown and Old Salem. Not good, it rained all day! Inn is okay, staff not as friendly as The Grand Bohemian. I had to ask for regular coffee , container was empty at 7:30 am, the staff was not happy at all. There were no tongs to pick up the pastries, had to use my two fingers to pick up my Danish so I wouldn't contaminate the rest of the pastries. Door in the back was ajar […] with a little rock holding it , had to throw the rock so the person would not use it again ( it was one of the staff in the laundry who did it because when we were entering the building with our luggage she was complaining about the missing rock), bad for security of the guests! What a surprise to find such a unique Inn blocks from where my husbands graduation was held. I can't even think of any cons to state about this Inn. If you are anywhere in the vicinity just stay here. You won't regret it!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A wonderful historic hotel."
We try to stay in historic hotels and inns and this was a wonderful surprise. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, comfortable and homey. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Happy hour was an added bonus allowing us to meet other like minded travelers. It's reasonable rate and good location, made this a memorable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place except for the fact it's haunted.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I loved this hotel. I cannot wait to stay there again. The bed was so comfy. Also free milk and cookies as well as wine?!? I was sold. My only complaint is breakfast was a little underwhelming, but the pastries were still very tasty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was wonderful, cookies and milk were okay. (They were store bought) Room and be very comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful historic inn close to downtown"
We had a wonderful night at the Brookstown Inn...the rooms are oversized with super comfy beds and updated baths. The staff had wine and cheese set out before dinner. We were able to walk to the downtown restaurant/theater district and returned to milk and cookies. The breakfast the next morning was top notch continental. The property is also within […] walking distance to Old Salem. The Inn has a lovely outdoor courtyard area, and even though there was construction next door, we couldn't hear it in our room. "Walking distance to downtown"
Great hotel with comfy home-like feel atmosphere. Stayed here over Easter weekend, with a special free breakfast on Sunday morning, for no extra charge. Awesome and friendly staff. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Enjoyed our stay in historic Winston Salem! The history behind the hotel is interesting! So pleased to see a historic building being used in this manner!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Charming and a little out of date"
Enjoyed many--not all--of the staff and the friendly cocktail hour, the interesting rehabbed building, the house cat. Missed some hot water in the shower and found a sparsity of electric outlets. They quickly gave us a new room when a bird somehow got into our first room, pecking at the pillow chocolates.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Will definitelly be back!"
Pictures cannot do justice for this beautiful landmark and hotel. It was far greater than I imagined and I was extremely impressed. The room was immaculate and the amenities were great. We loved the Cheese and Wine and was able to eat dinner within walking distance. I can assure you, we will be back again and for a longer stay next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Great Night"
We had never been in Winston-Salem. We would like very much to return sometime, particularly for another stay at the Historic Brookstown Inn. The inn is unique, unlike the usual sterile, unimaginative motels we typically find at highway exits. We were thrilled with the design, comfort and furnishings.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Definitely Not A Chain Hotel"
If you enjoy unique hotels in +150 year old building, exposed brick walls, high beamed ceilings, modern bathrooms the size of a European hotel room, excellent and friendly service and a mile from Old Salem in a quiet neighborhood, this would be a great place to stay. Otherwise, opt for chain places out by I-40.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful old place in excellent shape. Tall ceilings with lots of original bricks and beams. Four-poster bed with plenty of pillows made it the perfect place to finish a murder mystery in the wee hours.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a pretty cool hotel, a converted manufacturing building. There are a lot of stairs so I am not sure how it would be for those with limited mobility. The sofa in the room was extremely hard and I think it could use another easy chair. I did not find the room noisy as others have found. But we were in the back and not near the courtyard. Perhaps […] that made the difference. We couldn't make the back door open to get to our room more easily. Such access would have been nice. The Meridian restaurant across they way is great. "Beautiful, quaint, convenient location"
The Inn is located right near Trade St, it is a beautifully done and quaint historic inn. The wine and cheese was a lovely surprise and later they had cookies and milk :). "Easy access in Winston Salem"
Stayed in town for business, but had a great night at the Inn. So many little extras: chocolates on bed, wine/cheese, cookies/milk, free wifi, free parking, and continental breakfast. My first time at this hotel and I will definitely stay again on my next trip to the area. The room was beautiful - exposed brick, wood floors, period furniture, yet very […] modern and very clean. The room was spacious with high ceilings, the bathroom up to date, and I never bothered to turn on the television, but it looked new. I slept comfortably (pillows, mattress, a/c). I loved the huge shower head. I will stay again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My husband and I were very pleased with our experience @ The Historic Brookstown Inn. This is a small but very beautiful and very functional hotel. The customer service was excellent as was the hotel staff. Our rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had everything we needed in our rooms. They even had special time during the day to meet for wine […] and later at night for warm milk and cookies. I thought that was a very nice touch. Very personal. We intend to visit again later in the year when it's a little warmer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice hotel -- great rooms!"
We loved our stay at the Brookstown Inn. The only negative was the temperature in the room. The rooms are not individually climate controlled. I like a cool room and it was uncomfortably warm for me. The windows cannot be opened so that left us with no options to get the room cooler. Other than that -- excellent stay!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect affordable stay."
Everything was so nicely restored. It was a great addition to a fun weekend. The young lady working the front desk on Sunday afternoon March 2 was helpful and very nice. Meridian's Restaurant next door was terrific as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint old converted mill, but noisy"
The Brookstown is a lovely converted mill, full of Old Salem charm. Great location for Old Salem or anything in Winston Salem, near downtown. Beds were very comfortable. Great soft sheets and wonderful pillows. Nice touched like wine and cheese in evening and continental breakfast and cookies and milk before bed. Only real complaint is the noise. Being […] an old mill with creaky wooden floors, heard the above neighbors walking. Also heard the other neighbors very loudly throughout the night. They were having fun, but weren't obnoxiously boisterous, just easily heard. The rooms are huge. Mine was so big, even the flat screen tv across the room was very far away. They could move that closer somehow. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rustic, Charming Hotel in Quiet Neighborhood"
If seeking quiet, comfortable accommodations in Winston-Salem the Brookstown Inn is for you. Most rooms feature oversized exposed wood beams with brick walls and hard wood floors, a distinct change from the everyday cookie-cutter hotel mold. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is ideal for walking, running or cycling but the hotel itself lacks some […] the more modern amenities. For example Wi Fi is inconsistent and it can be difficult to find sufficient outlets. But overall and pleasant hotel Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely historic inn"
We stayed for the UNCSA Dance Festival weekend. The inn is conveniently located near UNCSA, Old Salem and downtown. Parking is free and convenient. Staff were very accommodating with late night glasses of milk, staying over to serve that last glass of wine during the wine & cheese reception and a late checkout. Noise traveled through the HVAC ducts […] and walls, so if you're a light sleeper, that can be an issue. Charming historic inn with comfy beds and updated bathrooms. "Very nice historic inn. Close to downtown."
Found the inn via Google search and they happened to be running a special for the night I was in town. Will definitely come back to the inn at some point for a romantic getaway. This hotel was absolutely fantastic! It is in a very quaint neighborhood and the history in the hotel is amazing! The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and hotel and were happy to share. We found the Brookstown Inn to be very charming! We missed the wine and cheese reception, but did make it to the bedtime cookies and milk - and they were very delicious!
