"Perfect spot on Kauai for seining and snokeling"
Locations is perfect on the sunny (always!) South shore of Kauai. View for the room and balcony is just outstnaging - both the beach and the ocean. Beach with golden sand is perfect and long, waves are gentle - they are broken by corral reef off-shore. Excellent snorkeling just few minutes away - on the tip of the shore. While we are active travelers […] - e.g. we hike and visit many places, but we managed to spend a day and half in this resourt along - swimming (we like salt water), snorkeling and taking surfing lessons. Overall very happy customers. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, good people yet a pricey fortress."
The hotel was overall a good experience but lacked some basics. The people, facilities and the quality were all above par. The grounds are well maintained and this is a great test for a 62 acre property. This place is large and at times tough to navigate, so take advantage of the boat and shuttle rides. The restaurants and bars are good quality but […] pricey for what you pay for. It seems almost an obvious attempt to keep you on property to spend money versus venturing out, due to the lack of exits/entries and signage. It was even tough to locate the elevators, ice and vending machines; they do exist but there is one ice machine and vending for a large number of rooms per tower. My room was clean and comfortable. The only complaint was the A/C; the vent caused the carpet to be very wet around the floor vent. Overall, I might return to the property if I got a great deal to stay, but probably a one hit wonder for me. Probably fun for kids and someone that has never been to Hawaii. Although I don't know if parents would like to pay $22 for a hamburger. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"very big hotel - too much artificial stuff"
very very very big hotel, need to travel by train inside, too many people very crowded, too much artificial view, doesn't fit Kona nature, too much extra costs, self-parking 20 dollars, need to walk half an hour to parking lotGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, Poor Value"
This was a nice place but not a great value. Very pricey at restaurants, shopping and activities compared to other places nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is gorgeous, the only difficulty I had was getting around from one side to the other. They offer a tram service that was so slow or broken down that it was easier to walk but you were exhausted when you got to where you needed to go. The hotel is worth staying at we had a great time so many things for the kids to do...they loved it too.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice resort to unwind and relax"
I recently spent 4 nights at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort. I was pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to an ocean view Makai room, which was wonderful. I could see the ocean, lagoon, and dolphins from my balcony! The service I received was wonderful and everyone was quite friendly. The pool was spacious, and the lagoon was perfect for snorkeling. However, […] there are some definite downsides. First, the mattress was extremely firm. I am used to a soft mattress, and I found it difficult to sleep on. Second, the food and drinks were extremely expensive. Since the location is a bit far from anything else, I spent way more on food and drinks than I would have liked. This is on top of a resort fee and parking fee. Third, the internet was spotty and kept disconnecting. Lastly, the resort is huge and it can take a long time to walk from one part to the next. Lastly, it's worth noting that since I had a nighttime flight, the hotel was kind enough to give me a courtesy room for a short time to shower and get ready for my flight. The room they gave me was in an older portion of the hotel, was much further than my original room, and was nowhere near as nice. Had I stayed in this room, rather than my upgraded room, my impression of the hotel would have been much lower. In summary - it's a great place to relax and unwind, but definitely go for the Makai ocean view rooms, and plan to spend a good amount on food. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a view"
We were upgraded to makai statues which means ocean in Hawaiian. We had an amazing view of the Kohala coast and the dolphins in the dolphin quest pool. Our 6 yr old daughter enjoyed the water slides in both pools and snorkeling in the lagoon. Food was pricy but goodGenuine Expedia guest review

"Huge resort, beautiful!"
I really liked the property, really big but fun to walk around and explore, there's a lot to see here. Taking the boat around the property was really fun too. The lagoon was a great place to relax and get used to snorkeling before we needed to the open waters. I wish there were more breakfast options there, but room service was great!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great property, but..."
The Hilton Waikoloa Village has a great property that is very well-kept. It's more like 3 hotels in one, so be prepared to walk great distances repeatedly if you choose this hotel. The parking lot was a 15 minute walk from my room. Generally the staff was pleasant - I liked everyone at the Lagoon Grill. A couple of staff members were rude, particularly […] at the Boat Landing Cantina, and that negatively affected my overall experience. Almost every meal that I had on the property was awful, and was priced well above what good food would even cost. The food options, quality, and prices are far better in Kona, but Kona is 24 miles from Waikoloa. My room was in terrible condition, and I was surprised that they would charge the prices they do for a room in this poor condition. The room smelled musty, had carpet frayed around the edges of the room, and water damage under the sink. My "ocean view" room technically allowed me to see a small part of the ocean, but should really have been billed as a "golf course view" room. If you choose this hotel, the property will exceed your expectations, but the room, food, cost, and service will disappoint you. Buyer beware... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for. Expected more from room."
Hilton is a high rated chain of hotels. We expected more from our stay in waikoloa village. When we arrived, the bathtub had a long hair in it and remained there for 2 days. Apparently the cleaning staff was not doing their job properly. In addition to that, our bed sheets were filthy with stains. Requested new ones only to receive another stained sheet. […] After requesting a second time we finally got some clean sheets 2 days later. the Bathroom is extremely tiny. I am 5'2 and weigh 140lbs and had a hard time moving around, i do not recommend this room for anyone more than 140lbs. Overall the hotel amenities (pool lobby etc) were excellent and clean. The train was also having problems which meant we had to walk to our ocean tower. The breakfast and gift shops were very pricy which is expected at such a resort so we ate out all the time. Would have been nice if they had something affordable and reasonable for some guests who cannot afford such high prices. I was disappointed with the hotel room and expected more by such a reputable chain, especially after spending so much for the trip. I'd give this hotel overall a 3 star rating but that's being generous, and only so high because of the amenities they offered. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed in Ocean Towers, 6 th floor ocean view, the view outside our lanai was amazing, woke up at 5 am each morning and loved watching the sun come up. The best place on earth to watch a sunset. Great place to stay with kids. Snorkeling in the lagoon was awesome. Lots of fish and sea turtles and safe for my 9 and 11 year old. Snorkeling was best early in the morning. "isolated and disney-like"
Wheel of Fortune was filming during our stay and their service equipment was right outside of our window for 3 days. We were moved to a much nicer room on the 4th day which had a view of the "lagoon" area of the resort. There is a launderette or laundry room! We had a 1/2 mile walk to our car, which really made it painful to go out for food or to go […] see the sights, because there is no affordable food nor sights to see inside the resort. "Worst place (and most expensive) hotel to stay in."
This is the worst place to stay on the "desert" side of the island. I only stayed there because a niece was getting married there. There prices are outrageous (they not only charge to park there ($17 per night), but the entry and exit card given never worked and I had to keep exchanging it because I couldn't get in or out of the lot. They charge for […] everything (I needed a knife to cut some fresh fruit and they wanted $10 to use it!). Rooms are noisy and the toilet leaked for two days before they finally fixed it. Although the views are great, there is only one elevator (and one ice machine on each floor) in each building and you have to walk the entire length access it. During our stay, they finished filming "Wheel of Fortune" and it took almost a week for the tear-down crews to remove the set. That meant that the deconstruction noise began at 6:00 a.m. and continued all day. It was impossible to open the outside doors to let in the breeze due to the loud noise for the crews and their equipment. While the staff was apologetic, they wanted to move us to another room that was even closer and louder than the original one! If you are on a budget, forget about eating on site. It will break anyone's bank just to pay for it. On that subject, the food on-site is mediocre at best and non-appetizing at worst. The "complimentary" Luau was disappointing to someone who has attended a real one. It is a glorified stage show with less than average food. Very POOR rating! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I had seen pictures on line and read reviews, didn't have high expectations. We usually stay at very nice places. Let me tell you my husband and I were very impressed it was absolutely gorgeous. We are very active, so we did go Out to do a few excursions. We did make time to enjoy the resort. Yet there is so much to do, we feel we missed out on a lot. "Beautiful Hotel with Exceptional Staff"
Flew to Hawaii for a weekend trip to see the taping of Wheel of Fortune. By booking a Flight/Hotel/Car through Expedia, we got an exceptional price! This hotel is an exceptionally nice oceanfront resort with a very friendly and helpful staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
You must pay for everything when you get here, ie: locker rental at the pool $12.50, if you do not return the towels to the pool they are $10 each. The restaurants on the property are pricey and open odd hours. There is only one place to get breakfast, the $30 buffet. We chose to eat off site most of the time. There is a market in the Queens Marketplace […] where we bought food and lotions when needed. We stayed in the Palace Tower and the rooms could use some updating. The tower lobby wasn't staffed during our entire stay. You had to go to the main lobby via the tram if you wanted to make arrangements for events (again expensive). They rope you into the timeshare presentation and give you a "discount" card. The lagoon that goes around the property was full of brown floating stuff and the landscaping was in need of attention. It is out of the way from almost everything so you need a rental car. Signage is poor on the Island, I think due to code restrictions. Most of the staff was very pleasant. There is a few feet of beach but you cannot swim there. You must go behind the Marriot down the road. This place is really too big (62 acres) for the staff to maintain. I would look for a cheaper place to stay next time. Pool is really great with the water slide. The lagoon looked dirty so we didn't swim there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Too much nickel & diming"
I was disappointed by the lack of value covered by the $25/day resort fee. It only covered hula, ukelele and lei making lessons. It is an absolutely beautiful hotel and certainly not inexpensive, I would have that the money being […] charged would have included other amenities rather than EVERYTHING else being extra. "Could be better"
This hotel was very grand years ago. I found the room to be a bit outdated and the carpet need to be steam cleaned or replaced. It smelled a bit musty. All restaurants and shops were extremely overpriced for even simple items like a bottle of water or sun screen. Not sure why there was a daily surcharge of $25 for the hotel as well as a daily self parking […] fee of $17. That seemed a bit much. The tram system is extremely inefficient. There is a shared track for 2 trams and that causes significants delays. You might as well walk everywhere you are going. It is good exercise and you get to places a lot faster. ANNIVERSARY WAS GREAT! WILL BE BACK WITH THE KIDS NEXT YEAR!Genuine Expedia guest review
We arrived at this resort for our first Hawaii experience. The resort in itself is clean and nicely organized. It has several restaurant options (Chinese, Italian, Japanese sushi, the pool bars offering burgers etc, KPC the fancy restaurant, and some bars also serving food choices, among room service) that are all on the grounds of Hilton. There is […] no 'market' on Hilton grounds to buy fruit, water, or other snacks. They have a coffee shop and small shops however. Most places closed around 9:30 pm, so you had to make your decisions rather early on what to eat. Most items were super overpriced for mediocre food. The pizza - not worth the money. The burgers were ok at the pool bar. The Chinese place, the orange chicken was tasty, but the chicken fried rice simply tasteless. If you want to go to the nearby shops (kings and queens shops) you may use the shopping shuttle. However, this is operated by Hilton yet they charge you per adult $2 each way. The shopping centers are again driven by Hilton. But at least you can get sandwiches and water, etc. the restaurants are lacking more the less again. We went as far as hiking to Mauna Lani (7 miles) for food and a larger food market with better prices and options. Because of wheel of fortune coming to the hotel, there was construction right behind our room. So you had to get up at 8 am each morning due to noise. Hilton didn't care and there was not even a note to let us know. No complimentary coffee or anything. Just disappointing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not impressing at all..."
Overall the resort is ok: it'h huge and you need to take the tram or a boat to go from one place to the other. A lot of options to dine, great decoration with statues all over the hotel (even outside), etc. However, the hotel misses a sandy beach. There are only swimming pools, a lagoon and rocks by the ocean. If you want to go to a real beach you'll […] have to take a taxi (30$ each way at least)... Also, my last impression of the hotel was terrible: my wife forgot a blouse in the room and when we called the house keeping and the lost & found they said nothing was found by them in the room which was occupied by some other guests meanwhile. We only hear "I'm sorry" from the three departments we spoke to complain, but didn't get the impression they were too concerned with this, anyway. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Place is really nice...huge! Prepare to walk a lot!! There is a train the runs from end to end (thank goodness!) and a boat ferry (only on weekends) or you can walk it. You'll end up walking, but the place is really beautiful! Their food prices are a little on the high side, but the resort is fantastic. We saw many turtles (to eveyone's delight) right […] there in the lagoon at the resort! The oddity of the rooms are they have 2 double beds...what happened to Queen beds? Otherwise, found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. I would recommend it to anyone. It's really a wonderful place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hilton kids day"
We stayed at the Hilton on the last day of a 2 week vacation on the big island because of its proximity and convenience to the airport and its plentiful activities for kids. These are the main advantages of this hotel and the kids (7 and 10) loved it. For the adults, it was less attractive. It is noisy, lacks the authentic Hawaiian charm of the nearby […] Mauna Lani and Fairmont Orchid resorts (where we also stayed earlier in the trip) and is just too big for a relaxing time (waiting to take the resort's shuttle train just to get from our room to the restaurant or pool felt like commuting to work). Loved it. Had never stayed in a resort of this size and caliber. It was perfect for my kids (ages 12 and 10). The pools are excellent, the lagoon is sweet - and it has beautiful turtles! Everyone at the hotel is great. Waikoloa is not terribly convenient in terms of getting to Kona, but there's so much to do in and around the resort that it didn't really […] matter. One special place nearby is a restaurant called Three Fat Pigs, in the Kings Market shopping area, which is part of the Waikoloa resort. Best double cut pork chop ever. "Nice Resort, Room for some minor improvements..."
This was very nice resort, staffed by friendly and helpful people. We were somewhat disappointed by the lack of a real ocean beach - the lagoon was OK, but crowded and not quite the same. We rented a car and were able to go to some nearby public beaches, but with four adults (parents and grown children) in our party, it would have been nice if the resort […] had a free shuttle to (as a minimum) the public beach up the road, so that we could each have a variety of options. It was also disappointing that rides on the Hilton-Branded shuttle to the nearby shops (apparently on Hilton property) cost $2 per person each way. Rides to shops should be free to guests, or at least a modest fee for a weekly pass. Ditto rides to/from the airport, which is not a trivial journey. While the resort and restaurants were nice, and we enjoyed the tram and boat transportation, getting around the property was somewhat awkward, due to the tracks and canals. (Sometimes close destinations required long walk-arounds.) I would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend the resort to a friend, but think it better to arrive with a better-educated set of expectations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
