"Good place for a hotel and restaurant"
My husband and I liked everything about the Kendall Hotel except parking the car in the basement. We had dinner in the hotel -- very good. It was quiet in the room and the hotel makes it easy to check out. But if you park your car in the basement, be prepared for a work-out. The ramp is steep, the turn into the building is sharp and the parking spaces […] are narrow. However, it can be done and that was a relief to us in snowy, cold Cambridge. "Right in the Middle of MIT"
Very pretty room and cozy lobby. Comfortable bed. Wish I had been visiting Cambridge for pleasure, and that I could have stayed longer. Would stay here again if I were to return to Cambridge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good hotel, but not great"
Great location, 1 block from T-stop and the hotel had one of the best breakfast buffets I've seen in a long time. Room was comfortable and quiet, but the bathroom was quite small with limited water pressure. I'd rate the hotel in a 5 category, but the bathroom was closer to a 3, if not a 2. But it worked, just not what I expected. I'd stay again t […] hough. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Right on the Metro"
This hotel is about a hundred steps from the Metro station, with great access to Boston. The breakfast buffet had great variety of well-prepared hot and cold choices.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Cute, convenient and not over-priced. Rooms were very comfortable. My only complaints are that the heating system made a loud noise when it came on and the maids were singing in the hallways on Sunday morning, albeit at 10am.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful hotel, great staff, a couple of quibbles"
A very nice place -- old-fashioned but not old. Feels like a cross between a country inn and a modern hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was great. (Gosh, that mattress was comfortable.) Convenient to the T (Kendall Street is across the street) and MIT. Much better than the Marriott across the street, if for no other reason than the […] Kendall doesn't charge for Wi-Fi. Only quibbles: Thermostat could be set to A) off, B) warm up the room, and C) roast the room. And it was toasty. (This was in mid-January.) Luckily the windows opened, so I was able to cool it down to below 75. And the shower is less of a shower and more of a polite drizzle. The staff knows about this, but I suspect there isn't much they can do. Ironic, as the building is a converted fire station. But those are minor nits. I will not hesitate to return here, and to recommend the place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
unfortunately, we had some issues with the hotel. we had no hot water for a few days waiting for a replacement part that broke and they had to wait for it to come in. the room was large, comfortable and quiet. Nice to have covered parking. free breakfast was ok. nice to have free wifi. the other positive is that when I complained to the general manager […] about my stay, she refunded every penny which I. Felt was appropriate given what we went through. I did promise the manager that we would try the hotel again as a courtesy for her refunded our money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming and unique small hotel"
5-stars for buffet breakfasts, evening wine tastings, and unique folk art furnishings. Urban trains and trolley tours almost at the doorstep. Friendly, helpful staff, from desk clerks to housekeeping. We spent 9 days over Christmas at the Kendall and look forward to another visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were upgraded to a king sized room because of VIP status through Expedia. The room was fantastic, jetted tub which we weren't expecting. Parking was easy, hotel very clean. Delicious breakfast included.Genuine Expedia guest review
Easy acces to/from the T, right at MIT. Not many restaurants in tne immediate area but plenty just a couple T stops away. Hotel had a nice b&b feel being a recently renovated firehouse. Included breakfast was simple but good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Just About Perfect"
If you don't need to be in the middle of Boston (but you are only two T stops from Park Street), this is a great choice. Harvard Square is two stops in the other direction, which might lead you, as it did us, to the Harvard Museum of Natural History, which we could not complete in two hours. Extremely reasonable rates. Comfortable rooms, each uniquely […] appointed. An excellent breakfast buffet (eggs, bacon, and pancakes as well as toast and cereals and pastries) is the icing on the deal. I will definitely return. "They saved Engine 7"
This hotel was so sweet, so charming, such a loving preservation of an old firehouse, that we have now made it the ONLY Boston hotel in which we will stay. It is incredibly accessible to the T, the food was great, the decor was splendid, the staff helpful, and the whole experience was wonderful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Historic character, convenient location"
We spent four nights during the Thanksgiving holiday at The Kendall, staying in one of the original firehouse rooms. The room was small and quirky but charming and comfortable. The Black Sheep offers a satisfying dinner, and the lobby is a great place for a nightcap. The Kendall is right on the T, so close in fact that we could hear the rumble of the […] train at regular intervals in our third floor room. It sounded like distant thunder and wasn't a disturbance. Good location for visits to MIT, Boston University, and Harvard. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A firehouse in the heart of MIT"
A wonderful location about 100 yards from the Kendall/MIT T stop. The front desk was sometimes overtly pleasant, sometimes purely efficient, but always very helpful. Excellent breakfast with real food, good hotel restaurant and some superb yet less sophistocated eateries up and down the block. And a Legal Seafood across the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My brother and I stayed here so he could look at MIT and some other Boston schools. It's right next to the MIT campus and a short walk to some terrific restaurants. Breakfast was terrific - fresh, healthy, and tasty. Most importantly, the hotel was beautiful and cozy. It felt like a well-appointed New England inn instead of a hotel. "Great Comfortable place - 1/2 block from the T"
If you are looking for the75 foot ceilings in the marble lobby with furniture that screams "don't sit on me"...Keep looking...But if you want a warm comfortable place to stay this is it. Adapted from an old Fire House, The Kendall gives the feeling like you are walkig into someone's living room. The lobby has comfortable chairs that guest actually sit […] and hang out in. The bar is welcoming and the rooms are nicely appointed, clean with free WiFi. Stayed at the Kendal for Game 6 of the World Series- This is where I will stay whenever I come to Boston again. "room was very small and noisy"
I and my wife are very disappointment while we stayed at Kendall Hotel. We paid for over $440 (including taxes) and nonrefundable. Front desk assigned us at room #215. It was located at southeast corner of the second floor. It was very noisy in the early morning. In addition, the room was so tiny only barely placing a queen size bed. I would say about […] 10 x10. Bath room was very small either. It was smaller than Hong Kong, Paris and Tokyo I stayed. In the morning, we glanced at the other few rooms while maid was cleaning. We were very angry. The other standard rooms were at least our double size. We have a bad feeling we were cheated or discriminated. This kind of the hotel room is not worth we go back again. "Excellent, friendly hotel close to the Kendall T"
The Kendall Hotel is a beautiful place, located just a short walk away from the Kendall Square T station in Cambridge. Not as many restaurants nearby as is the case in Harvard or Central Square, but it's run by very friendly and helpful people. The buffet breakfast (included with my bill) was excellent. It's also "family owned"--another reason to support […] the place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is nice and we'll maintained. The included breakfast was good enough (though they need to devise a way to kept the condensation out of the scrambled eggs). Half of the people I encountered at the desk during my four-day stay were helpful and pleasant. The other half were annoyed to be bothered by a guest and were quite the opposite of pleasant. […] But the nasty attitude of some of the desk staff could not begin to rival that of the 'servers' in the hotel restaurant -- The Black Sheep. What is the point of making a patron feel mistreated? Why act so uppity when you work in a hotel restaurant?!? BTW, it's a hotel restaurant that would not get much business if there were better restaurants in the vicinity. There was none of that foolishness at any of Boston's finest restaurants in the Back Bay area. Such a lovely, little hotel will never get my business again (and with a Freshman at Harvard, I'll be visiting often), and it's all due to the haughty and surly members of both the front desk and restaurant staff. "another reason to love Boston"
The Kendall is, essentially, in MIT-land. Great if you're visiting anyone attending that prestigious university, but for everyone else, too. If you're okay with public transit or walking and exploring neighborhoods (and anyone visiting Boston should be), it's within reach of everything because the Red line is right outside. However, the surrounding […] neighborhood has some fine eateries, as well as, coffee and ice-cream shops. And, the MIT Museum is an absolute must and not just for science/tech/engineering types. As for the Kendall: Hotels are where I drop my luggage and rest after a long day of sight seeing; the Kendall, however, made me realize how important it is for a hotel to also be inviting. And the Kendall is exactly that. Both common areas and rooms are beautifully done; everyone at the desk was very helpful. I visit Boston often and a repeat reservation, knowing I will rely heavily on public transportation, is very likely. By the way, my transit card was swallowed by the ticket machine. Every station has an intercom system. Within 5 minutes of explaining the loss of my card, an agent had arrived and retrieved the card. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small room, nicely furnished"
Loved the hotel and convenient to the "T", but our room was on the front and a bit noisy on a Saturday night. Would recommend staying in a room away from the front. Great breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, fab breakfast, nice staff"
Fabulous location right off the T, amazing breakfast, nice happy hour in a penthouse with a view, super nice staff, good meals in the pub. "Good: location, rooms, and services"
The Kendall is a great hotel on a modern budget. The rooms are nice and large for two people (more space than most). The bathroom was roomy though the tub was small and uncomfortable. If all you do is shower, not a problem. The American breakfast was generous and delicious. The T stop was just a stones throw away, so traveling into Boston was a breeze. "Small, comfortable hotel impeccably presented"
Only problem I had was that I reserved room with 2 queen beds, but on checking in they said those rooms were all fully booked. For pre-paid room, I think a 2-bed room should have been set aside. They quickly provided a rollaway the first night and gave us 2 separate rooms the next. They were great about it, which says a it. Wonderful place!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable. Clean. Nice hosts"
Loved the place! Great breakfast! Courteous employees. Only problem... Shower was a bit cold. I'd stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I am a returning guest and i used to love this hotel until our last visit, an overnight stay for a red sox game. I always book this hotel through the big on line company because you literally save $$$. We booked and payed for a king as always. What they gave us was a queen. When i complained they offered to comp. the parking (big deal). I was not satisfied, […] what i wanted is what I booked and payed for 6 months prior. I complained to the manager and she said next time i should book through them instead of a 3rd party. I feel like I was discriminated against and I had to pay for it. If this hotel thinks I am going to pay up to $$$ a night they are crazy. For that price I'll go stay at the Ritz and get pampered. This hotel is clean and a couple steps away from the T. The beds are tolerable for 2 nights the most unless you like a hard bed and the linens are not soft but very rough. I think they may be washing them in the Charles river and hanging them out to dry off the Long Fellow Bridge. and as for the complimentary breakfast they never have everything that they advertise. 2 thumbs down Im looking for a different hotel! "Wonderful hotel, full of character!"
We just spent a wonderful weekend at the Kendall Hotel in Cambridge, Boston. The hotel was a wonderful find, not your typical "box" type hotel at all. The rooms were super clean and beautifully decorated. Having originally been an old fire house there were tons of very interesting artifacts related to the theme. The hotel restaurant "The Black Sheep" […] served an excellent dinner in a small and relaxed area. Breakfast was wonderful with a good selection of hot and cold items, the bread for toast was yummy! We would highly recommend this hotel for an affordable stay in Boston especially if you are fed up with the same old, same old chain hotels. Only down side to this great little find were the lack of a pool or fitness facilities on site. Great location for walking though and very handy to the subway. we will certainly stay again when we are in Boston. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel close to many colleges/universities"
Stayed here while returning daughter to grad school at Tufts/Fletcher School. There are not many good hotel options in Cambridge, even fewer as one moves north into Somerville and Medford, and almost none offering two queen beds. Kendall Hotel met all criteria and turned out to be a really first rate, funky (in a good way) place to stay with old fire […] station memorabilia, antique furniture, etc. scattered throughout. Had both dinner and breakfast on premises, both were excellent. This will be my go-to hotel on future trips to the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Very convenient location (right next to the red line Kendall/MIT station). They offered us free parking, and hot breakfast even though our room wasn't ready when we arrived on the red eye.
