      I took my family to the resort for our winter “staycation” this year and our say was perfect! The staff was very helpful, our room was clean and comfortable and there was lots for us to do all the time. The water slide and pool area is big and laid out well. There are nice shops on the lobby floor, a Kmart and grocery store are directly across the street and Traverse City is a short drive around the bay. We will do this again!

      Wonderful stay. Period. The owners were warm and friendly and the property has been immaculately restored, retaining all of the character and charm of the original home. Will stay here on all return trips to N. MI.

    We liked this hotel very much. Very friendly staff, nice room too. We had a jacuzzi suite, and it was great. A room detail needed some attention and the... staff got right to it. The breakfast isn't so great - hard boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy, so-so. Very tempting to go elsewhere to eat. It was very quiet in our room, and the layout of the hotel is why. Rooms aren't parallel to the highway so there is the pool for a sound buffer. Renovating while we were there, but no big deal. by Dave  from Oscoda, MI on 05/13/13

    We spent 2 nights at this motel in late August 2012. The room was clean and neat; however there is no microwave or refrigerator. The breakfast was good, and they always had a pot of coffee on in the lobby. The staff was very friendly. The price compared to others was very good. They had a pool and hot tub but we did not use them. This hotel is next […] to a mini golf/go cart business. However, that business shut down around 10:00 PM and it was not a problem. And was a convenient walk to Pirates Park next door. The only minor negative was the pool. The water appeared clean and clear, and the hot tub was awesome. You could get "gunk" off them by just brushing the tiles with your fingers and there was a bunch of sand or something gathered at the bottom on the deep end.     The most important thing with me regarding a hotel stay is the bathroom and shower. We had room 102 which was a handicapped room. The problem with this bathroom is the shower is meant for a person in a wheelchair. The shower has a HUGE bench that takes up 3 forths of the shower! I am 6'4" 220 lbs. To fit in this shower I needed to flip up the bench […] which means No soap dish OR place to put your shampoo other than the floor. I did go to the front desk to ask if I could be transfered to a standard non handicapped room!! And OF COURSE I WAS TOLD THAT ALL THEIR KING rooms were exactly the same as mine.But they DID have the fancy schmancy suite available! Surprise! I gave up and stayed in 102. What the girl at the desk didn't realise is you can tell which rooms are handicapped by looking at the doors!! The handicapped rooms have a high AND low peep hole!!!!! the standard rooms only have a high peep hole. That will be the end of my staying @ americainns. Read more

They tried to hurry and clean a room for us, gave us maps and coupons for local palaces, and ever very friendly.     It was a very nice, quiet place to stay. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were very clean the only problem we found was we could have used a small refrigerator in the room to keep doggie bags in. Ice machines on the second floor would help also. Otherwise very nice. I would recommend and return to this hotel.

    This hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious. We prefer to be closer to downtown, but this was a good alternative. Close to the State Park and several restaurants. We took a taxi to the downtown area - cost us about $20.00 each way. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers staying in the area.

    The carpeting in the room was slightly sticky. Hopefully due to shampooing that left residue. However, i kept wondering WHY the carpet was sticky and never walked barefoot in the room.     The hotel staff was very friendly! Breakfast was very good! We were in a suite and it was an amazing room! It was very close to the walking path, as well as the beach and restaurants. I would definitely stay there again!

    Very clean and reasonable facility squeezed between a DQ and a trailer park. If you don't care about the view it's a great deal. Public park and beach close by. Nice indoor pool. Very friendly service.

    I called this hotel to ask about a fridge and microwave in the room and was told we did not have one. I asked if it was possible to get one and was told by the hotel employee there was one left and we could have it. I asked if there were additional charges for this and was told no there was not, they just needed to know that is what we wanted. We checked […] in the following day and was told there were no rooms available with a microwave and fridge and hadn't been when I asked for the change, that there hadn't been for several days. OK we can live with that. We gave them the credit card and the funds transferred hadn't hit yet so used the debit card instead. We were told it would hold the room and when we checked out and used the credit card the charges would not hit the debit card. OK that's workable. When we checked out we were charged a different room rate than we were quoted because when we called to ask for the fridge and microwave, it was rebooked so they could put the fridge and microwave on the room details but they forgot to put in the original rate so we had to explain again what happened and then had to pull up the reservation on the computer to show them the correct rate. OK we can live with that. This morning we found out our credit card AND debit card were charged - one at the correct rate and one at the incorrect rate. this is one of those times that when one thing goes wrong........and the manager of the hotel was absolutely NO HELP when I called to advise what happened. There is a big sign.....well when I ask a question and the information I'm given is different than the sign.....who do I believe? the thinking person or a sign......apparently the sign. So just watch out for the check out process... Other than that it was a pretty good stay. But service is what matters most to me. Read more
