"Three rating is probably too much"
Three rating is probably too much but two rating is probably too little. It gets the job done. In a clean, safe part of town. Don't count on finding on-site parking. But alternative parking is usually Close by.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Late night accommodations"
We arrived just before midnight at this hotel, and although the designated parking spots were taken, the manager let us park in a "non-spot." Even though I got up early to make sure another car could exit, I really appreciated this accommodation! We had a comfortable stay and we would definitely book here again. "Location is key"
We spent 8 nights at the Country Hearth Inn. Having never been to San Francisco, I picked it pretty much at random from several options based on rates and location near the Presidio. When we got there it was obvious we got the right one. Some of the other options were just blocks away and all on one of the busiest, loudest streets in town. Being a block […] and a half away made all the difference. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"GOOD PRICE - LIMITED PARKING"
I NEEDED A REASONABLY PRICED ROOM AT THE LAST MINUTE AND FOUND THE COUNTRY HEARTH INN. THE ROOMS ARE DATED, BUT CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE, AND GIVEN THE TIME OF YEAR AND THE LOCATION, THE PRICE WAS RIGHT. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS PROPERTY IS THE VERY LIMITED AND VERY CRAMPED PARKING. THERE ARE INSUFFICIENT PARKING SPACES TO ACCOMMODATE ALL GUESTS AND […] THE EXISTING PARKING SPACES ARE DESIGNED FOR SMALL/COMPACT AUTOS (NOT AN SUV OR MINIVAN ETC). STREET PARKING IS AVAILABLE BUT ITS NOT ALWAYS EASY TO FIND NOR PROXIMAL TO THE PROPERTY. IF YOU PARK ON THE STREET, BE CERTAIN TO GET UP EARLY TO MOVE YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE BEING TICKETED. Response by Country Hearth Inn San Francisco Hotel Thank you for your review. The following is to address your concerns. We keep all mattresses covered in order to maintain sanitation as we have many guests that visit us. Being an outdoor property, we like to keep out property clean, which requires us to wash the entire property externally once every week. Again, we attempt to keep the property clean and sanitary for the benefit of our guests. Lastly, we prefer that guests do not visit because of the limited parking spaces and in order to respect other guests' stay with us. As many of our guests are aware, San Francisco is a city where parking is generally limited. We are not an exception to this. We prefer to maintain a quiet, cozy, and comfortable environment for all of our guests. Thus all of our policies are geared toward achieving this environment.
One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed, the location is horrible there is not enough parking for the guest for example 23 rooms and only 8 parking spots and the rest of them are on their own in the street to park. The room was ok I guess clean but a little trash on the floor and yet all the rooms have a envelope to place "tips" for the cleaning […] services. And as you see in the pictures of the breakfast room, that really doesn't exist you just get a donut and coffee. And at last the the front office closes so you are outside and have to ring a bell for them to let you in and a window to turn your keys in, last time I checked most of the hotels are 24 hour friendly service. "Very good hotel"
We stayed there for four nights. I have no complaints. The room was very good, and the location is excellent. Breakfast is nothing special as expected.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was unacceptable. The room was very small and smelled like cats. There was only 6 parking spaces, first come first serve, and you had to back out into a busy street. Otherwise, you had to park on the street. The neighborhood was seedy and you had to walk several blocks to a decent restaurant or shop.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Country Hearth Inn San Francisco Hotel Thank you for your review. The neighborhood in which our motel is located is considered to be one of the safest neighborhoods in the city of San Francisco. If you would like to verify this information, please Google "Marina Area" of San Francisco. As many of our guests are aware, San Francisco is a city where parking is limited. We are not an exception to this. We have limited parking and make every effort to inform our guests of this. Every website on which our hotel is advertised explicitly states that there is very limited parking on site or no parking on site. We have a very strict policy which does not allow for any pets of any kind. This policy is strictly adhered to in order to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of our rooms.
"Good hotel for the price and location"
This hotel met our expectations for everything except free parking. The hotel lot only accommodates 8 cars! We had trouble finding room on the streets nearby and one night parked on a street due for street sweeping the next day so we got a $64 ticket. We weren't parked near the sign so we missed it. Had trouble with the room safe but someone came up […] the next morning and fixed the problem. We were happy to rent the refrigerator for $3 because we were staying for 5 nights and the price was for the entire stay. Muffins in the morning were good but it got boring after 5 days. It was an OK place to stay but we will try something else next time we visit San Francisco. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, economical"
Enjoyed the super location (near SF sights and restaurants) and the economy even though very basic services but the double bed was too small for two normal-sized adults. Should have reserved bigger beds. Parking was a worry but we always managed to find a spot nearby if not in the hotel parking lot. The "Continental Breakfast" was minimal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First there was NO WHERE to park. I almost had to find another hotel. There are only 6 parking spots and the maid and owners park there so really there are 3. The beds were older then me. The shower was either extremely hot or extremely cold! Think twice please before staying here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location and great price"
We wanted to save money on a place to sleep and this hotel was perfect. We were able to park our car for free and have a true city experience. Right next door to the Presidio (near the Yoda Statue) and a great little Pizza Joint. Major bus line across the street. We have 2 children, 5 and 7, and we walked from the hotel to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, […] Union Square and then bussed home. It was great fun! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
You can be sure you will stay clean and big room. But you can hear voices belong to other rooms. Hotel is end of Lombart St close to Fine Art, Golden Bridge. You can go to Fisherman Wharf by bus (10 min). In San Francisco, public transportion is good. You don't wait bus long time. If you want only clean room, you can choose this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great, clean, safe choice if you're on a budget"
We stayed here for three nights and were very pleased with the accommodations. This hotel is pretty "no frills," as the price and description suggest, but it met our needs just fine. The room was clean and the hotel felt safe. The advertised "continental breakfast" included coffee, pastries, and fruit. There are several MUNI (pubic transportation) lines […] that run close to the hotel. I would definitely return to this hotel in the future. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Just what it claims to be"
For a cheap hotel in San Francisco this one will do. Small clean rooms. The off street parking is first come first serve and there are only 6 spaces so good luck getting one. Great location with easy acccess to public transportation. Within a few blocks of the very scenic Palance of Fine Arts and Crissy Field which has spectacular views of te Golden Gate bridge. Cute motel located just outside of the Lombard Street gate of the Presidio. The Staff was very welcoming. Our room was clean. Location was great for catching public transportation, and bike riding. Conveniently located close to Golden Gate Bridge and Park, Presidio, biking trails, not too far from Fishermen's wharf. The owners were very helpful and attended our requests. "Bed Springs Coming Through"
For an overnight stay it was tough. Parking is VERY limited and street parking was all taken. Found ourselves walking or taking a taxi. About a 40 minute walk to Rainforest Cafe. Light was out in the vanity & the breakers kept on shutting off. Something weird was going on with the electricity & if you have kids they are limited to about 3-4 channels […] on the TV. "OK for overnight stay"
Very close to the Palace of Fine Arts and the Golden Gate Bridge. Parking is very limited - 7 spaces, so we were lucky to get the last spot there. Our room was up on the 2nd floor right next to the cafe building - their kitchen is pretty loud. You'll hear a lot of noise until 11 p.m. On the bright side - the motel is not facing any busy intersections, […] so the noise from the street is minimal.Everything worked just fine in the room. Beds were OK. Some pastries and coffee provided in the morning. I'd stay there again but ask for a room away from the cafe. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good value for money"
Pleasantly surprised with this place. The rooms and grounds were very clean and well maintained. The in-room air purifiers, reverse-osmosis filtered drinking water, and chlorine filters in the shower were a fabulous bonus. The beds were ok, I would suggest bringing your pillow from home as the ones provided are very thin (although clean). The parking […] lot was very small so be prepared to park on the street. And the 'continental breakfast' consisted of low quality coffee and muffins. Perhaps taking advantage of the fridge in your room and buying your own food would be a better choice. "Rooms updated and clean"
For a two star hotel/motel this was a nice surprise. Having stayed in many motels for the cheep price I have to say this was one of the nicest. The owners have remodeled the rooms, at least the one we got. To step into a shower and not see any mold or falling apart caulking was really nice. We did find a stray hair or two, probably from the maid when […] cleaning but the room itself was all new and updated. The ice machine didn't work so we told the owner and he said he'd get it up and working in 10 min. We went to dinner and came back almost two hrs. later and it still hadn't produced ice. When we spoke with him again he said someone in another room filled two big coolers and took it all. He advised us to go to the hotel next door and use theirs. When we asked the girl at the counter next door she looked at us and rolled her eyes as if she'd heard this before but we did get some ice. Overall this worked perfect for what we needed which was a place to crash in the city so we didn't need to drive back to the east bay after a night out in the city. I think the staff increases the rating by at least one star. They went above the call of duty when they got a room ready for me extra early. I was very pleased and would definitely go back. I would totally stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice place to stay, but far from most attractions."
The Country Hearth was a nice hotel to stay in. We were in SF for the weekend for a baseball and football game, It is far from both of these locations. It is necessary to take a taxi or public transportation (there is a bus nearby you can take to a muni). The staff was friendly, and there were a few cute restaurants nearby. "Keep looking elsewhere"
First thing on arrival was "great that there is free parking - too bad there's no place to park!" When I asked at the desk I was just told "it's full". Not helpful. So had to find a place on the street to park overnight - which is not easy to do in San Francisco. The room was much smaller than it appeared in the pictures and the little frig was locked […] and was only available for another three dollars. The TV was poor quality and there really were no amenities. We also had noisy people above us which came right through and we finally had to ask them to quiet down. The one positive is that it is a nice neighborhood. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was not at all what was described. The promised refrigerator in room had to be rented for three dollars. The "continental breakfast" was horrible coffee, bad pastries and tiny apples. The free parking was very limited and I got blocked in by another car during the night. Our room adjoined a restaurant, so we could hear noise from the restaurant […] kitchen most of the night. I have paid less for a hotel in the same neighborhood which was much, much nicer. This was extremely overpriced, which made me expect more. It was very disappointing. We would never stay there again. "Good two star motel near Presidio"
Basic, clean, 2 star motel with a good location next to the Presidio and the Palace of Fine Arts. Best for tourists on a budget who want to be close to the Golden Gate Bridge. "OK - clean enough for the price."
The hotel seemed solidly built and was decently clean. The carpet was quite worn as were the linens but they were clean and worthy of a 2.5-star hotel. "Friendly and considerate"
My stay with Country Hearth Inn went well. I now realize that they have a variety of bed mattresses to choose from, so upon arrival, I asked for a different room with a softer mattress than what was in the original room. "Not the touristy SF area"
Just a block and a half from 101, but not in a very busy part of the city. Small hotel within walking distance of the Presidio grounds and Cow Hollow and Marina restaurants/shops. Rooms are dated, and in need or a facelift or even remodel, but they were clean. Our room was straight off the driveway, so we did hear street noise. Room had an 'Evergreen' […] air freshener/fan which helped as white noise to drown out the traffic noises. Front door was missing a bit of weather stripping, so it never felt like it was closed all the way, even though the door lock worked fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"WORST HOTEL OF THE TRIP"
Unhelpfun staff rock hard bed not really a breakfast at all in a two month holiday of the states this is the worst hotel i stayed inGenuine Expedia guest review
While this hotel was in a great location, the room was the worse I've ever been in. To start, it was clear the bed had not been changed but rather re-made. The pillows did not have dust covers on them and hair, not mine, was on one of them. Plus, the bed itself did not have a basic mattress cover under the sheet. The mattress was just covered with a […] very thin sheet (not even fitted) over the mattress! I added a towel from the bathroom under me to sleep on this rock-hard and uncomfortable mattress. The bathroom showed signs of wear & tear with mold in cracks by the tub ground in dirt by the door jam. To add insult to injury, the maid left an envelope on the room desk for "tips". The tv had no local/national channels but only music channels that I could find. At 6:30 am the next morning the front desk which was suppose to have coffee ready was closed. I walked down the street to a gas station/mini-market to get coffee. Had I not arrived so late at check-in I would have moved to another hotel. This was a surprise given all the positive comments I reviewed prior to booking my room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I lived in San Francisco for three years and go back very often. Most hotels there cost more than three times what this one does, and can be noisy and a hassle.
