"Nice place for sightseeing"
The hotel has free parking which is really convenient but there aren't enough spots for all rooms, we were lucky enough to get one though. It is located close to the golden gate bridge. Our light switches stopped working during the night though. We only spent one night before traveling onwards and for that purpose this hotel offers excellent value for […] money. "Good two star motel near Presidio"
Basic, clean, 2 star motel with a good location next to the Presidio and the Palace of Fine Arts. Best for tourists on a budget who want to be close to the Golden Gate Bridge. Very nice, helpful woman at the front desk. Our room #28 had a refrigerator and water filters and looked out on a neighbor's garden. It was probably the quietest room there. We […] stayed there for the 75th Anniversary of the GG Bridge and it was fine. The Final Final is a good sports bars on the same block, as well as Liverpool Lil's Bar. "OK - clean enough for the price."
The hotel seemed solidly built and was decently clean. The carpet was quite worn as were the linens but they were clean and worthy of a 2.5-star hotel. The parking is quite limited so get there early as street parking is virtually non-existant and not guaranteed. There was some sort of an air cleaner in the room that would provide white noise if needed. […] I wore earplugs and had a good night's sleep. You have to pay extra to use the refrigerator. "Friendly and considerate"
My stay with Country Hearth Inn went well. I now realize that they have a variety of bed mattresses to choose from, so upon arrival, I asked for a different room with a softer mattress than what was in the original room. They were gracious about the change and all was well. In the future, ask up-front for the type of mattress that you desire.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the touristy SF area"
Just a block and a half from 101, but not in a very busy part of the city. Small hotel within walking distance of the Presidio grounds and Cow Hollow and Marina restaurants/shops. Rooms are dated, and in need or a facelift or even remodel, but they were clean. Our room was straight off the driveway, so we did hear street noise. Room had an 'Evergreen' […] air freshener/fan which helped as white noise to drown out the traffic noises. Front door was missing a bit of weather stripping, so it never felt like it was closed all the way, even though the door lock worked fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Good value. Room is clean but not fancy, and parking is free but quite limited.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Country Hearth Inn"
Staff friendly and helpful. However, the Blankets had holes, the sheets had tears, the fan in the bathroom was so loud it was unbelievable! The outside noise ( sounds like a generator starting up periodically) was annoying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, Efficient and great location"
I was happy with it all. Right next to the park for running, close to shops and restaurants for the experience. Parking provided yet no need for a car. Why stay at an expensive less convenient place. I'd stay here again. I think booking well ahead might get a cheaper price though...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"WORST HOTEL OF THE TRIP"
Unhelpfun staff rock hard bed not really a breakfast at all in a two month holiday of the states this is the worst hotel i stayed inGenuine Expedia guest review
While this hotel was in a great location, the room was the worse I've ever been in. To start, it was clear the bed had not been changed but rather re-made. The pillows did not have dust covers on them and hair, not mine, was on one of them. Plus, the bed itself did not have a basic mattress cover under the sheet. The mattress was just covered with a […] very thin sheet (not even fitted) over the mattress! I added a towel from the bathroom under me to sleep on this rock-hard and uncomfortable mattress. The bathroom showed signs of wear & tear with mold in cracks by the tub ground in dirt by the door jam. To add insult to injury, the maid left an envelope on the room desk for "tips". The tv had no local/national channels but only music channels that I could find. At 6:30 am the next morning the front desk which was suppose to have coffee ready was closed. I walked down the street to a gas station/mini-market to get coffee. Had I not arrived so late at check-in I would have moved to another hotel. This was a surprise given all the positive comments I reviewed prior to booking my room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"I will never stay anywhere else in San Francisco"
I lived in San Francisco for three years and go back very often. Most hotels there cost more than three times what this one does, and can be noisy and a hassle. All you have to do is figure out the buses and not be in a big hurry and the Country Hearth Inn is the perfect choice. It is in an unbeautiful neighborhood, but is just a few streets below the […] most stunning blocks of Pacific Heights, and is right next to the Presidio. You can ****PARK YOUR CAR**** there off street and for free, but there aren't many spaces. The people who run ther Country Hearth are very sweet and helpful. It is amazingly easy to find. Your fellow guests are modest travelers and agreeable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel and good base from which to tour the city. I was looking for a cheap one to bundle with our plane tickets to SF, and there are apparently a lot of hotels with bedbugs in the city! Not here--just a clean, comfortable room in a quiet hotel with friendly staff. 5 or 6 spaces in the parking lot but you can park on the street too. Great for getting […] in to see the city. Backed up against the Presidio, right on Lombard. Walk a block down and one street over to Chestnut to catch the #30 bus straight to Fisherman's Wharf, Embarcadero, Financial District...also the #28 comes even closer and will take you west right to the Golden Gate Bridge. Close to a Walgreens, a pub and a Pluto's restaurant/salad bar. Good neighborhood. Continental bfast was pastries from some local bakery. I'd stay there again quick. "Basics, nothing more"
The Country Hearth was a great place for us to stay since we really were just looking for somewhere to sleep/shower/change clothes. It was a good value and on a quiet enough street. Only 6 parking spaces so if that's important, get there early. Coffee/Danish for breakfast was adequate. It's a non smoking hotel that is nice but the first room they gave […] me was stinky. They changed me but I was there early so it was an easy change. They have filtered water at the sink and shower that was appreciated. "Nice hotel, great value in a nice neighborhood"
If you are looking for a fancy hotel with all the amenities, this place is not for you. However, if you are looking for a nice, clean hotel on a budget then this is your place! The neighborhood is partly residential, nice and quiet. Our room was very clean and we were glad to see an iron & ironing board. The bed was comfy! There is a fridge but you […] have to rent it ($3/day).The staff are very nice. and they can arrange tours for you or a shuttle to the airport ($15/person). In the morning there is coffee, tea, juice, fruit and pastries at the front desk but because the area is very small you have to take your breakfast back to your room. No prob. There is no restaurant but there are plenty of eateries within walking distance. There are several buses in the area to take you downtown or to Fisherman's Wharf. There's also a Walgreen's drugstore 2 blocks away in case you forgot anything. I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice Simple Clean"
This is a very reasonable hotel in SF. Its in a great location near the Presidio and the Golden Gate Park etc. They do have 7-8 spaces of parking on a first come first serve basis and we used it one of the two nights there. "In a nice neighborhood"
This was within walking distance to many places to eat and drink. The neighborhood is safe, right on the line between the Marina and Cow Hollow neighborhoods. "Home away from Home"
Love this place! For the price, you really can't ask for much more. There is a limited parking issue. But, if you go there, knowing that you will need to find street parking now and then, everything else is great. As a matter of fact, one morning, the front desk called me at the crack of dawn to offer squeezing our car into the lot from the street, […] just so we wouldn't get a ticket since it was street-cleaning day. Very nice. The reception staff was friendly and accommodating. I have a bad back and was worried that the beds would be too soft. No! Perfect! Not too hard, not too soft. The room was clean and the shower had good pressure with plenty of hot water. We loved being in a quiet part of town. It was a lovely retreat from the hustle-bustle of the City . Plenty of buses to get you around and the Exploratorium is within a stone's throw, so you can walk. The presidio is right next door and a charming place to walk around in. A Starbucks is right in one of the Presidio building nearby and it makes for a lovely morning walk for coffee. There is a yummy pizza place and a great sandwich shop(liquor/deli) just next door. We will definitely come back. It felt like home away from home. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Relatively clean and comfortable but not so cheap"
Having a car is a must to get to places. Plenty of space for free car park. "Absolut in Ordnung"
