The Westin was perfect! Stayed in a suite with friends for a weekend away. The hotel was clean and the service was great. The location is perfect for walking and dining in the old port and totally accessible if you want to spend time downtown or further North. No complaints!

We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service.

Room was good - a great value for the price! Just a few minor complaints - TV remote didn't work; a little noisy late at night (Saturday night; we were next to the elevator). Beds: very comfortable. Pillows, not so much (overly firm). Bathroom small but clean, bath/shower good, water pressure and temperature fine. Nice pool, adequate gym. Convenient in/out parking, reduced price with hotel validation. Front desk staff: helpful and polite.
Location.
The Sofitel Montreal Le Carre Dore faces Sherbrooke Street in the financial district of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, three blocks from the Museum of Fine Arts. A Metro subway station stands one block from the hotel.
Hotel Features.
Renoir restaurant prepares French/American-style breakfasts, dishes such as lemongrass shrimp and duck confit with andouillette sausage for lunch, and dinner choices that range from tapenade-crusted grouper to braised halibut with foie gras broth. Le Bar serves smoked-salmon quesadillas as an innovative alternative to favorites such as burgers and club sandwiches. The Sofitel Montreal Le Carre Dore's two lobby computers provide complimentary high-speed Internet access, although wireless Internet access is available for a fee. A 24-hour fitness center contains cardio machines, a Universal gym, free weights, a sauna and a massage room. Property amenities include concierge services, a gift shop and airport transportation for a fee.

The hotel offers 258 guestrooms in a 17-story glass tower. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide views of Mount Royal Park or the city. Signature Beds include down/feather featherbeds atop mattresses that are draped with Egyptian-cotton sheets and lightweight down comforters. Terry-cloth bathrobes and slippers provide lounging comfort, and Roger & Gallet toiletries and candles provide thoughtful touches. Desks feature high-speed Internet access, while televisions include high-speed access via wireless keyboards. Bottled water is supplied during turndown service. "L'hotel Sofitel in downtown Montreal"
A very nice 4 star property in a convenient downtown location. Modern, refined, but not pretentious. The Good: The level of service was spectacular, from the doorman to the desk clerks to room service. The bathroom was amazing. The Less Good: An expanded breakfast menu would be nice. Amazing!!
Clean, well maintained hotel with a convenient location. The size of the room was extremely small and we were facing another building so no view even though I paid extra for a better view. Service is great even though extremely overpriced.

Very luxurious, beautiful room. The service was great there, very friendly and eager to help. Location was a few streets from St. Catherine st, near Peel station but walk there is quick. There was no included breakfast though, and the menu was very expensive. $19 for a bagel, really? Aside from that, great hotel.

This is a great upscale place for someone with a dog. there are parks within a few blocks, and trees on the street a block away. Nice staff, also!

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is friendly, clean and the rooms are a good size. I had a room with a king size bed. The only difference is the square footage of the room when booking. The hotel is one block from the underground mall, metro and nice restaurants. The few things I did not like are; the parking is 30$ a night. I did not want […] to pay so I found street parking, for a long weekend this was not bad but a week long stay would not work. A block away there is the Residence Marriott, that lot is 13 a night. I also do not like that I prepaid for my room and this hotel "secures" your room by additionally authorizing 300$ on your credit card. They also charge for wireless internet access 15$ a day and have no pool or hot tub. If the items I listed here are of no concern to you then I would recommend this hotel to you. Read more

Two areas for improvement: 1. Reserved smokeless room-but room had been used for smoking 2. Two tries before Concierge helped us with bus ticket difficulties
Great Hotel. Great location. Nice bar downstairs. Wine and room service is a little on the expensive side but expected at Hotels such as this. Overall a great experience.

When we decided to take a short vacation to Montreal, we chose to stay at the Sofitel. Our decision was made, in part, by the great offer on hotels.com, but what cinched the deal was our previous experiences with the Sofitel chain. A couple of points should be mentioned for this establishment. We drove from New York and had no excessive trouble finding street parking from Friday afternoon through till Monday at about midday. It was the fourth of July weekend and the city was filled with people from all over the world for the Montreal Jazz fest. The Hotel is close to some great […] restaurants and steak houses but on a warm day you can walk to Old Montreal (30mins) or just take the train or cab. If you like Paris you should like Montreal. "Beautiful hotel"
The room was beautifully appointed with a luxurious bath. The staff was well informed, helpful and friendly. Well located in Montreal's museum district and a short walk to Old Town.

"Great Hotel for a great price"
Great Staff, Great Service, and great breakfast, yet vey expensive (the breakfast.) Location is fantastic and the rooms were nice and clean. We saw a stain on the carpet, but the rest of the room was very clean, and the bead was nice, celan and comfrotable. Highly recommended.
