"Loved our stay!"
We got a great rate on expedia, and were very happy with the hotel. Great location, friendly staff and a spacious comfortable room. We were on a low floor, so the view was just OK (Comm Ave, not the Fenway side, and what do you want with the bargain rates, I guess ;-) ) but we had no issues with street noise at all. We didn't have time to try the restaurants, […] but they and many other delicacies were just a stone's throw away from the lobby of the hotel. My only food-complaint was that there was no in-room coffee maker. I really count on these when I wake up in the morning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect location to Fenway and city."
We absolutely loved our hotel stay. We came in town for a Rangers/ Red Sox game and the location was perfect to Fenway. It was a short walk around the corner and the nicest hotel around. Our room had new carpet, a new bed and was newly renovated. We stayed in a junior suite that was huge! The staff was amazing. The doorman gave us a map of the city, […] circled all the popular attractions that he recommended and gave us directions to the nearest shopping. If your going to a game the Cask n' Flagon is great for a patio table before the game. The Eastern Standard was a great restaurant just a few feet down from the hotel. "Very pleasant staff"
The weekend we stayed in Boston was rainy and cold. Every staff person, however, was helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. The room was clean, spacious. The Eastern Standard restaurant, which is attached to the hotel, was especially convenient, with delicious food and curtious service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy Access to all of Boston!"
The hotel is such easy access to the subway, Fenway park and the House of Blues that it's a no brainer for us to stay here. The glass door to the bathroom was very strange and about the only thing we would change about this hotel. We loved the staff (Jeff at the check in desk was particularly helpful) and we slept better in the hotel than we do at home. […] We have stayed here a few times and will continue to return. "Nice hotel, expensive"
My partner and I decided to stay at the Hotel Commonwealth for our wedding honeymoon. The staff were very nice and we recieved a complimentary bottle of wine. We were not impressed with the overall size of the bathroom in our room, or the condition of the furniture. Since we were celebrating our recent marriage, we had expected the room to be much nicer […] for what we had paid (hotel and valet). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Decent Hotel convenient to BackBay"
This is a nice hotel convenient to Back Bay and the Green Line (Kenmore T-Station is right there). Decorating is traditional but tastefully done and rooms are fairly quiet and comfortable. They could not find my expedia reservation when I checked in and did not call me the next day (as promised) to assure me that this issue was resolved, but they did […] provide me with an upgraded room while they "looked into it" so the issue was more peace of mind rather than being without a place to stay. Would definitely recommend the hotel in general for adult stay -- not sure it's all that "kid-friendly". Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel Commonweath...Boston at it's best"
I've never written a review before but I have to say that my stay at the Hotel Commonwealth was absolutely superb. It was beautiful, clean, elegant, the staff was incredibly professional and helpful. I can't wait to go back!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, great staff"
We were welcomed immediately, checked-in promptly, and arrived to our room to find out that they had generously upgraded us to a junior suite without even mentioning it. Our luggage was lost on arrival, but the front desk was eager to provide necessities and let us know as soon as the airline delivered it the next day. The bed was comfortable and the […] amenities were great. Unlike most high-end chain hotels that charge for every extra service, they provided free wifi and an open business center. Purchased through the unpublished rates and was extremely happy when I walked into my room. Large and very comfortable Very attentive, polite and friendly staff. Would absolutely stay here againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Loved this hotel"
Loved this hotel from the minute we walked into the lobby. The front desk staff is friendly, helpful and had a "can do" attitude. Our room was beautiful, clean and well appointed. The location was perfect for us and was right at the T-stop. We will definitely come back for another stay at the property.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful, helpful, and friendly staff!"
Traveled in to Boston for a less than 24 hour stay, and the staff at Hotel Commonwealth made me feel comfortable and at home instantly. I felt spoiled, and now don't plan on ever staying anywhere else. Only thing that could have been better: valet service. Took a little long to drop off the car, and it was cold out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Top notch hotel at the Kenmore T stop Fenway Park"
A great hotel, made better by helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are generous in size, have comfortable furnishings and nice toiletries. Linens were crisp and clean and towels and washcloths were not worn out and threadbare. I especially appreciated the lack if typical hotel branding clutter and the lack of little signs exhorting me to reuse my towel […] to "save the planet". The attached restaurant, Eastern Standard was very good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, great hotel"
We've stayed at the Marriott Back Bay several times, but this was our first time at the Hotel Commonwealth. We love a good cocktail, and since both Eastern Standard and The Hawthorne (not to mention Island Creek Oyster Bar) are all actually IN the hotel, it was exceptionally convenient to both drink AND eat. Plus, it's a short walk to Prudential Center […] and Newbury Street if shopping is your thing. A fifteen minute walk got us to the Museum of Fine Arts where we took in both the great permanent exhibits AND the fantastic John Singer Sargent exhibit currently on display. "We loved the Hotel Commonwealth"
From the minute we arrived we were greeted by an exceptional staff. From the door man, to Sean at the reservation desk everyone was friendly and exceeding efficient. We were given a glass of champagne to take up to our room at check-in. The room was very pleasant and large and the bed was so comfortable, with beautiful linens. Even after checking the […] room twice before checkout, I managed to leave a pair of boots. One phone call and they are being Federal Expressed to me......the next morning after my call. Fun hotel, lovely accommodations and very friendly staff. While it's a bit out of the way for Back Bay shopping and restaurants it's a great neighborhood, close to Fenway with plenty of good dining nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to the house of blues"
I wanted to find a convenient place near the house of blues. It was comfortable and clean and we loved the view of fenway park from our room. I would have liked to have some complimentary coffee for the price of the stay, but overall we really found the hotel top rate. Very comfortable beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good but not worth the price"
Good hotel but not really worth the price. The hotel staff was nice and the overall hotel was neat and clean. Good location to subway and of course the baseball park. However the shower wasn't working very well, took forever for hot water and believe it or not had too much water pressure it kinda hurt to shower. The walls are paper thin and we could […] clearly hear other ppl in their rooms and their activities. The room wasn't very well lit and could hardly see in it. No HD channels and I was charged for a drink I never had. Just felt for the price it should of been much better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Love this Place"
Wonderful Hotel. The staff are kind, professional, and engaging. The rooms are large, spotless, and well designed. I have stayed at many hotels and this one beats them all. As soon as we arrived, the doorman parked our car for us and made us feel welcome. At check in, we were greeted with the friendliest staff who made us feel right at home. The offered […] us both bottled refreshments and their signature sublime watermelon water. Our suitcases arrived five minutes later without any delay or hassle. About 10 minutes later, the concierge called our room to make sure we had everything we needed. Can you believe that? At every other hotel, I have to call if I want something. These people really know how to deliver quality service. Even after telling the doormen that I was a Yankee fan, they still treated me well!!! My twins(age 16) said the Hotel looked like a "place you see in the movies" I will never stay at another hotel while in Boston. And, I will be there often to visit my son who is a freshman at Boston College. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a lovely old hotel. The furnishings are traditional, but the hotel has tried to stay up-to-date. The bathroom was large and well-appointed. The room was spacious and I really liked the semi-separate sitting area (there were drapes dividing the bed from the easy chairs and desk space. It was nice that there were 2 tvs. But it makes no sense to […] have only 1 phone and that one is by the desk. There was no phone by the bed. This was complicated by the crazy "George" sound system in the room. While it is nice to have the ability to play one's iPod through the sound system and perhaps wake to it - the system was virtually impossible to understand and program. The small "remote" extension of the system with a clock by the bed had no instructions on it. The instructions on the base unit were hard to reach and even harder to understand. It was very difficult to program a wake up/alarm. Yet with the only phone on the desk I didn't want to have to leap up from the bed in the darkened room to answer a wake-up call. So I used my phone alarm but that was also difficult because all the extra electric outlets and charging station were on the desk (also only for the 30 pin iPhone/iPod - not the new iPhone 5 style). Had to move one of the bedside tables around to find an empty outlet. Advice to hotel - scrub the weird George system and put in an easier to understand iHome or other radio/alarm/iPod-iPhone sound system, phone and lamps by beds w/ electric outlets in base. I have stayed at Hotel Commonwealth a few times before-- I even have a future booked already. this time i did notice the rooms and the hotel looked a tad weary. This was my first stay at this hotel and I would definitely stay here again. The Kenmore station is right outside the hotel which made getting around the city really easy. "Closest hotel to Fenway"
I booked this hotel for my boss, who was in Boston for business meetings and to attend the Sox game with clients. They gave him a great room with a clear view of the scoreboard at Fenway Park - he sent me a photo from his phone. He also really appreciated the proximity to the T line. "Not worth the price."
Yes, it's nice to be right on Comm Ave, especially if you have a student at BU or game to attend at Fenway, but I was expecting more for the $. The room wasn't "wow". Not that big. Couldn't remove anything from the fridge to keep my own items cold or I'd have to pay a fee.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Service is not a priority."
The hotel itself is beautiful... However, having to wait an hour for a bottle of wine from room service after needing to remind them multiple times of our order was quite irritating. The excuse was "we're running a little behind" as the Eastern Standard Restaurant attached deals with all room service orders during the two reminder calls we placed...good […] luck if the restaurant is hopping the night you stay! The DVD player in the room was lacking proper wiring and could not be used. After a maintainence man came to the room after another 45 minute wait from placing the initial call, we were told they couldn't help us because apparently Boston is a hard city to find A/V wiring or a working dvd player to satisfy guest paying an expensive amount per night for comfort and service. The hotel may look nice inside and out, but the service isn't worth the price at all. I do not recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
