Had a good stay at the Malie. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative was that the maid service was inconsistent. One day the room was cleaned nicely, the next not so much. But I would stay at the Malie again.

In a residential neighborhood and a 20 minute walk into the center so if you want peace and quiet (although there aren't any outside spaces) its great. They first gave a room which toilet was not even flushed from the revious guest. I paid the maximum rate and they gave me a room in the first floor (don't let them do that) with two tiny beds, the matresses completely soft and old, and the carpet was also so old I got allergies. Then I found out that the rooms on the second florr were renocated, so […] I asked for one of those and they gave it to me (luckily or I would've grabbed my bags and leave in that same moment); the first room was absolutely dreadful. They offered breakfast vouchers but they never said the price of the breakfast, which was fifteen euros. The hotel is in a very nice neighborhood, but far from the city center. I can say that around 40% of the experience was completely disappointing. It is not what they announce through Expedia. Read more

Wonderful location and wonderful staff. Our room had funny quirks that made it unpleasant-- Bathroom light switch on the wrong side of the door, a wall light that blocked walking around the bed, no hooks or shelves in the bathroom, inadequate lights in room to read--got the picture.

The hotel was very comfortable and friendly. While I was there in November, I would like to return in the spring to enjoy the balcony and terraces! The only criticism would be the cost of the minimal breakfast. 15 Euros seemed high but unfortunately the neighborhood doesn't really have nearby cafes.

Quiet surrounding and not very far away from Utrecht central station. The Bus sation just in 5min waling distance. Some Japanese and oriental restaurents are located in 15 min walking distance.

As mentioned by others, hotel is not in downtown. Hotel personnel were uniformly friendly and helpful. Our room had a small balcony that ran along the back of about 4 consecutive rooms with large potted plants separating the balcony. The balcony overlooked a garden. It seemed quite nice, however the balcony was used by smokers so the smoke would inevitably […] drift into our room forcing us to close the door and use the airconditioning. The air conditioning was of medium volume and was run on high all night and we still found the room warm. I did like the hotel overall, but just want to let you know of these specific observations. The hotel is nice. Next to downtown on a quiet street. There was no double bed just to single bed for my room rate which is a bit disappointing. The staff was ok although not very useful for finding a good restaurant. By the way if you need a good restaurant got to "MAS", you will not be disappointed. The hotel is readily accessible by bus or taxi from Utrecht Central Station, which, in turn, provides easy access to all the cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, etc.) that one may wish to visit in the country. Really comfortable night and not too far to walk to the centre of Utrecht. The only unfortunate thing was that there wasn't a restaurant as it was raining very heavily in the evening but the receptionist recommended a restaurant very close by that was very nice and not too expensive.

Location suited us as we had relatives close by. However the half hour walk to the town centre ( or short bus ride) was very pleasant. We enjoyed using the outdoor garden for evening drinks. Overall good value and a lovely stay.

The hotel was old but comfortable. Unfortunately when we were there it was a heat wave and the airconditioning was not working. However we had a lovely balcony so we used that and with the door open it cooled the room. Great place to stay but not in a heat wave.

We stayed at the hotel with our 2 yr old on a visit to family who live just around the corner. This was our main reason for choosing a hotel in this location-i.e. a good 15 minute walk outside of the centre. However, it is just a short 2 minute walk to a street with a really nice atmosphere with lots of nices cafes, restaurants and shops. The street […] and the lobby of the hotel are very attractive. As was the bathroom which was clearly new (we had a deluxe room-as we were told this was neccessary to have a cot) however the furniture and fixtures in the bedroom were tired and dated and were ready for an overhall. However, this didnt bother us as we were only in the room to sleep. A tea and coffee tray might have been nice though. A kettle would have made it a bit easier to warm milk. We had to ask for a cot-despite having requested one. However i find this is a common niggle whenever we stay in a hotel. However the cot provided was of a good standard and clean etc. There was plenty of room for this in the room and for the buggy to remain up and be plenty of floorspace. The hotel staff were friendly, however we didnt have any need for assistance as we speak the language and have visited many times. They didnt tell me off when my son pressed the alarm button in the lift-which was a bonus! Read more

We chose this hotel as we were visiting Utrecht University. It is a good, simple hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The price of our room was reasonable. It was comfortably furnished, if a little dated, and the bathroom was small but more than satisfactory. The standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel is good. Supposedly this is one of the better hotels in Utrecht The lobby looks nine, in fact it is by far the most agreeable part of the hotel. At check-in I was informed that breakfast on Sunday morning would take place in two shifts and that I needed to choose a time slot... the argument was that the hotel was almost full and the breakfast room lacked capacity. […] I still don't understand why this is necessary, you can only get a breakfast buffet, so surely there should be sufficient customer circulation for anybody not to have to wait more than a few minutes? The room had a terrible odour, and the bathroom deco was fairly spartan and straight out of the seventies. Hallways also need upgrading. The Malie is about a 15 minute walk/4 minute cycle ride from the nearest restaurants on Bild Straat. The receptionists all speak English, are helpful, and will offer umbrellas if raining. The few Hotel rental bikes were fully booked all the time, but there was space to store rentals from others. It feels more like a Blackpool B&B then a 4 star. Rooms look tired with old chipped and worn out furniture. Bed are t a sheet of foam with no support whatsoever, towels in the bathroom had holes and the corridors carpet could do with a deep clean to get rid of the smell We left after seeing the room and went around the corner to another nearby hotel […] that is truly 4 star. . Although the hotel is advertised with parking it does not have any parking facilities! There is parking on the street but when we arrived we had difficulties finding space near the hotel and finally found one about 5 mins walk away. So it would be great if Expedia took out the parking bit. The staff in general were quite rude except one receptionist […] who was overly nice and gave us incomplete information about public transport which didn't help as we had to drive to the place where we wanted to take the bus to, as the bus was only once an hour! That information would have been helpful, together with the timetable. We stayed for 3 nights and our bathroom didn't get cleaned once! All the cleaners seemed to do was to make the bed. The hotel is attractive, has atmosphere and is in a good area. It is within walking distance of the city centre and buses are also nearby, as are some good restaurants. The staff were friendly and had good English skills. My only query-criticism is that there was no ability to make a cuppa in our room.

This was a very pleasant, small and friendly hotel, with a lovely little garden at the back. The lobby was full of books and a pleasant place to sit with a drink from the bar. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Double room was a little small. One complaint - our booking didn't include breakfast in the cost, and when we checked in, staff indicated […] where breakfast was served but didn't mention the price (we should have asked but didn't think it would be drastic). Cost was 15euros per person for a basic self service buffet - even tea and coffee was self service, and choice was limited. At end of 4 days, we were given a bill of 180 euros - a real rip off for what there was. Other minor thing was that although hotel was in good residential area, it was a little far from the centre - about 30 mins walk, or a bus 5mins walk away. Buy a strippenkarte for travelling - it costs 2 strips to get into town. Read more

Hallo, das Hotel liegt in einer schöner Strasse nicht all zu weit vom Zentrum entfernt. Die Zimmer sind schön und insgesamt hat es uns sehr gut gefallen. Das einzige Manko war, dass wir ein Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage gebucht haben, was bedeutete, dass diese wohl ausgefallen war. Die Klimanlage war auch gar nicht nötig, aber es gab im Zimmer einen unangenehmen […] Geruch ( wir vermuten , dass es von der Klimaanlage stammte). Da man aber das Zimmer gut Lüften konnten war es für die 2 Tage nicht schlimm. Frühstück sah auch lecker aus. Wir können es weiter empfehlen und kommen wahrscheinlich wieder da uns Utrecht sogar besser als Amsterdam gefallen hat. Read more

Het hotel is op zich niks mis mee. Vriendelijke ontvangst. Bij ontbijtbuffet zou dat beter kunnen. Uitchecken vlot en goed ondanks drukte. Hotel volgeboekt en toch rustig. Echter...waarom vier sterren op een site ? de standaard kamer is klein en geeft weggestopt gevoel. Geen andere items die een hotel vier sterren maken ipv 2. ein wunderschönes Hotel in der Utrechter Altstadt mit sehr großen und angenehmen Zimmern. Einziges Problem war die Klimaanlage die im Bad permanent lief und es etwas kühl machte.. aber ein sehr herzliches und freundliches Team !
