"Good price for a night"
For the price our hotel room was a good deal for one night. Everything was clean it's just outdated. The shower floor was a little questionable, could use some TLC. Other than that we had an awesome view and the room had a full kitchen and refrigerator.

""Upgrade" was not an upgrade to us!!"
When we arrived the clerk said that instead of a King room with an Ocean View we had been "upgraded" to a suite with a city view. Well, we weren't interested in a suite, and we got a double bed instead of a King. The double bed was not comfortable, so we ended up sleeping the second night on the couches in the "suite" room which were two single mattresses. (Not very romantic) I didn't like being "upgraded" So we paid extra to get the King Ocean view, and we didn't get what we paid for. I shouldn't have upgraded. Bad deal.

Hotel was old and needed updating to all interiors and furniture. I was disappointed upon arrival, but due to the busy time of the year, there were no good options available to move to another hotel. Almost every hotel was sold out.

"Awesome stay for the price"
Fantastic location, close to waikiki beach and shops. The room was much nicer than expected. Very roomy with a kitchenette, living room with pull out bed, and bedroom. Filtered water was nice to have. We had a great view of the city. Staff was friendly. This is a very good quality hotel! Not five stars but a great deal.

"classic hotel accomodations with excellent staff"
certainly old-fashioned style but clean and well kept - plus the excellent hospitality from every member of the staff! they even have cruiser bikes to use, free fro 2hours, small fee beyond that - although beach is within walking distance - The Coffee Bean stand right outside lobby with a Whaler's General Store next to them - good with having a full-size kitchenette in the room - my family and I would certainly stay here again

"The staff is the only saving grace."
Prepare to get slammed with $45/night parking and amenity fees after booking with Expedia. The staff is the only redeeming quality in this hotel - extremely helpful and courteous. Its an older place but suits your needs if you just need a bed to sleep.

"Ok for one night"

"be aware of extra charge fee ( 20 dollars)"
hotel service is okay , they charged extra resort fee (20 dollars each night ) which is not good. I had mess up schedule with third party( hotel.com). I originally booked up on feb 2 but my flight was cancelled due to snowstorm, so I postponed to stay on jan 4 to 6. when i got there, my whole reservation was gone. ( because ambassador hotel and hotel.com did not communicate each other ), so I had to pay again to stay a night. it was an awful experiences. ambassador location is good but not good to stay. i recommend other hotels which is near by waikiki beach . staying other hotel is more convenience, not extra charge fee, better location, and better services.

At Check in the hotel lobby looked nice and yo to date . Upon opening the Door the room had a musky smell . Opened all windows (sliding doors) and left them open for thee Rest of my stay . The pictures looked very nice. The furnishing was lacking and uncomfortable. Noise from the street and early morning trucks making deliveries and picking up garbage with loud back up beepers. Air condition was also loud. Compares to a motel six. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They took off the parking fee of 25.00 and checked out a day early and refunded the second day that was already paid up front.

"Fresher Rooms Needed"
The location of this hotel is ideal and the staff were pretty friendly, however the overall freshness and cleanliness of the hotel could be greatly improved upon. There was a moldy smell in my room and ants in the bathroom.

"Rooms need updating; friendly, professional staff"
The hotel staff is excellent; friendly and professional even when dealing with a grumpy business traveler. It is relatively conveniently located, with a short walk to shops on Kalakaua Ave and Waikiki beach. However if you're staying in the hotel, ask for a room that has been recently renovated. The older rooms are clean, but worn. My room had peeling paint and poorly repaired damage to the walls. The AC barely kept the room at temp (I can't imagine what it would be like in summer) and I had problems with cigarette smoke leaking into the room. Since the hotel was full, they couldn't move me to another room when I asked.

"Delightfully Surprise"
I wasn't expecting much for the deal we got on Expedia, the price was really cheap and I've learned not to put faith in the pictures of the rooms provided by hotels, I also knew that the hotel is kind of old and I did not expect it to be very modern. I was delightfully surprised by how great the room actually was, I really felt we were getting a deal! The room was decent, it wasn't the prettiest room, but it filled all of our needs. Lots of space, kitchenette was an added bonus, the staff was super friendly and helpful, the coin laundry in the hotel, saved me and my clothes mishap.

"Nice hotel"
The room, the bath, the bed, the kitchen were clean. It was a very nice stay and for that money I would go there anytime again!! U need a few minutes to the ocean, it's no problem. The hotel is directly next to a car rental.

"Avoid. Rooms actually cost $103.00 per night."
I was "upgraded" to a better room when I got there. They added extra fees which cost me a total of $83.00! (20 dollars per day!) False advertising on the price of the room. That alone should make you go elsewhere for a place to stay. The room they switched me to was by the smoking area, so everytime I opened my door I would sometimes get a wiff of smoke. Also, the gym and laundry room are above the smoking area, and they both smell of smoke. This is minor but the hotel doesn't have stairs, so you have to wait for the elevators. There was construction by the hotel that would wake me up in the early hours of the day, and would be noisy all day.

Over all stay was good. Everything in the room was in good condition, air conditioner (in wall) TV (cable) in room wifi . The floor in the shower needed repaired (tile) but didn't hinder use. kitchen was good.

"Great place to stay on a budget"

I enjoy 10 glorious January days each year in Waikiki. When I visit, I stay at the Ambassador. "Disappointing Hidden Fees"
The check in staff were polite but not friendly. There was no explanation regarding the unavailability or selective parking availability. I was told there was no parking available while the person directly in front of me was provided a parking spot. I was told I had to park across the street and another hotel. It was $20 per night to park & a bit inconvenient. There was also a resort fee of $20 per night although there was nothing that would qualify this hotel as a resort. The walls were so thin I could hear someone in the next room snoring. The air conditioner was very loud, so loud it interfered with normal conversation. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Good room service."
Our room was on the Diamond Head side and every morning at 500 to 600 the garbage was collected from the hotel across Namahana Street, very noisy with back up warning beeps and crashing metal trash bins. "Nice!"
It was a few blocks from the beach, but an easy walk. The room was very clean and the staff was very helpful. It was a little older but everything worked well and it was the BEST air conditioner!

"Cheap and crummy."
The hotel was clean and the staff were pleasant but it is a pretty crummy and depressing dump with peeling veneer on the counters and worn carpets, and NO soundproofing. No coffee making equipment, very limited kitchen in general. A hotel to sleep in and otherwise spend no time at all. It was pretty cheap for Honolulu and it was clean and safe, with parking on site. That is all I can say for it.

Hotel is a bit outdated, but clean. Hotel staff was very friendly, even gave us board games for our younger ones after their official hours. Our suite had new carpet, a new TV and comfortable beds. If you can overlook plain white Sheetrock walls with some chips, some snags in the comforters, older in-wall A/C and heating units and a 60s-style kitchen, this was well worth the money. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

"The location is good, but the facilities are old."
The total price including parking is more than 150 each night. The room where I stayed is near the street and close to the elevator, very noisy. The hotel facilities are old.

"Best value in waikiki on a budget"
Great friendly staff, easy check in, clean comfortable room. Reserved 3 singles, worked out perfectly. Although a bit dated, it was worth the $150 for 3 people

"Really convenient hotel!"
I thought this hotel provided a very nice stay. It's super convenient to everything, bus stops (if you decide to travel by bus everywhere instead of renting a car), walking distance to kalakaua ave, which was a very nice shopping street, food, restaurants, everything! I also liked that they had a pool and laundromat for guests! The room we also stayed in had a kitchen, which was great! Even though we didn't cook, it was very nice to have the option to if needed. You can tell the hotel is a little older, so don't expect a super modern hotel, but it has the basics of everything you really need. Besides, who really stays in their hotel all day everyday when in hawaii, right?! I'd definitely recommend to others and would come back again!

"Nice hotel"
We ended up paying a $20 "amenity fee" per room which we were not aware of. Not sure if it's $20 per night or per stay as we only stayed one night. If I had known that, I'd pick another place.

"Very nice staff close to all big and small stores."
For the first time we got to the hotel my nephew had a medical emergency, the staff help us a lot they call the doctor made a appointment got us a taxi and with no problem.

"Old but clean"
Great staff, 15 min walk to the beach, close to restaurants and shopping. The hotel is dated , but clean. Great coffee shop stand right next door.

"Great Experience!"
We got in very late on the first day. The manager on duty, Bob N. was so pleasant and helpful. He got us checked in and in our rooms promptly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Great,great location!! Full kitchenette in rooms. Perfect for our needs. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!

"Clean hotel"
I like the staff who were willing to help and housekeeping very friendly. I was happy it had a small kitchenette for me not to eat out a lot. Walking distance to some areas but sometimes a little far to the beach. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay.
