"Perfect romantic getaway"
My husband took me to Montreal to stay at Hotel Nelligan for my weekend birthday celebration. We loved the character and charm of the hotel, the spaciousness of the room with very comfortable furnishings and updated elegant bathroom, wonderfully helpful and friendly staff, fabulous food at the Verses restaurant, and all the attention to details. Our spa trip to Bota Bota was enhanced by our stay at The Nelligan. From start to finish the staff was cheerful, knowledgeable and accommodating. They even offered to heat up our left overs when we could not find a restaurant within walking distance that met our dietary needs. The next day the concierge put together a list of places we could walk to […] and we had a wonderful Vieux-Montreal meal and a pleasant walk back to the hotel. Before we left in the morning, the front desk staff printed us a map and directions to another spectacular place to eat and to a bakery that was gluten and dairy free AND vegetarian! I'd say it's the best place to be in Old Montreal if you want to feel cared for, appreciated and in capable hands. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A Night at the Nelligan"
I had one night at the Hotel Nelligan while returning from Paris, and it was a perfect bed in which to sleep twelve hours. I loved the wide, open windows with their views of Saint Paul street and the limestone facades of the old buildings nearby. The hotel is very comfortable, spacious and clean, and its staff is welcoming and gracious. The restaurant […] next door, Verses, serves an outstanding brunch. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location in Old Montreal"
The Nelligan is located in the heart of Old Montreal. The water front is just a short walk away as is the Notre Dame Basilica. Their are many great restaurants, cafe's, shops with steps of the hotel. The Nelligan staff is very accommodating, they can handle most any request. The rooms are nicely appointed, we upgraded to a suite, we really appreciated […] the rain shower and the extra room the suite provided. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ten Year Anniversary Trip was a Winner!"
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Nelligan for a long weekend in January of 2014. The Hotel is lovely and quaint, the staff beyond reproach and the location phenomenal. We couldn't have been more pleased. The hotel is well within walking distance to many Old Montreal attractions including but not limited to the waterfront, ice skating rink, Notre […] Dame Cathedral and many shops and restaurants. In better weather it is even a short walk to the larger city and the business district. The fireplaces in the rooms, as previously mentioned, are not wood burning but do have the ability to give off heat if needed. We found they added to the ambiance of the room and liked them a lot. We also had a jacuzzi type tub in our room that we liked and requested a quiet room away from the main atrium area of the hotel -- which we were given and enjoyed. We would definitely recommend this hotel! But bring your winter boots in the winter. The streets and sidewalks can be treacherous this time of year. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A great place to stay"
We loved our stay at Hotel Nelligan overall. Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a great location in Old Montreal. The only downfall is that the hotel is really loud. We were up by 8am each morning due to other guests waiting for the elevator or downstairs in the bar. The walls are very thin and sound carries.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful Boutique Hotel in Old Montreal"
Just got back from a 6 night stay at this hotel over the new year's holiday week. We had a couple days where the hotel was completely empty and a few (NYE and the days around it) where it was fully booked. We stayed in an interior courtyard facing petite suite. The room service food/restaurant downstairs (Verses) was tasty, but there's better options […] out there in Old Montreal that are close by. Luckily, the location of the hotel is smack in the middle of these, so venturing into the cold to hit the restaurant/bar scene was effortless. The room itself was cozy. It had 3 drawbacks: (a) the 'fireplace' was (as other users have noted) simply a space heater dressed up with a screen - but it came in quite useful during the cold snap that sent temperatures into the -30's F, as the otherwise solid room heater couldn't keep up. Kind of gimmicky, but it got the job done. (b) the whirlpool tub was super confusing and we had some difficulty operating it. I don't have one at home, so not sure if it was that tub's design or if that's normal, but it seemed to have a 'super bubbles' setting only - nothing more moderated. (c) lack of storage! The hotel room's storage options would have been fine for a 2 or 3 day stay, but wintertime in Quebec requires a lot of cloths for a 6 night stay and we basically had to leave it in the suitcases, as there wasn't really a dresser/bureau chest to unpack into. A great stay otherwise, I'd stay again. Very nice accommodations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Romantic rooms in romantic neighborhood"
The Nelligan facility and staff were both great, only outdone by perfect location around the corner from Notre Dame and right on the Rue St Paul strolling street (restaurants, galleries, boutiques). Very clean. Nice bubble tub and shower in petite suite, both sized for two to share. Very friendly staff were helpful with arrangements in and out of h […] otel. "Winter wonder in the city"
Very nice and welcoming stay. For the cost of the hotel breakfast I would have expected more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed in a junior suite during a snow storm. The room was warm and spacious with really pleasant music playing when we arrived. The bathroom was large with a nice, jetted tub. Every staff member we encountered went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. We had soup and a sandwich in the lounge and several cocktails; all were good.Genuine Expedia guest review
One of the nicest small hotels I have ever stayed in. Bistro next door had food to die for and the staff was so friendly, helpful, and kind. Especially to a Boston Bruins fan.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful hotel in Old Montreal"
We stayed two nights in November. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. Our room was gorgeous with a jacuzzi and a shower stall with rainfall shower head, electric fireplace, floor to ceiling paneled doors and king-sized bed. The housekeeping staff welcomed us by knocking on our door and presenting us with additional […] bottles of water and chocolates. The 2nd night they stopped by to see if we needed to have our mini-bar refreshed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I attended a professional conference in Montreal and chose the Hotel Nelligan because it was so highly rated. I could not have had a better experience and I am a frequent and picky traveler. Everyone was lovely. I felt comfortable as a woman dining alone in the bar--sometimes you are ignored for larger parties, but the staff was so friendly and accommodating. […] My room was spotless and as I requested very quiet. I had one of those gas fireplaces in the room which made it so cozy when I turned it on. And when I ordered room service, it came in 15 minutes, hot and carefully prepared. If you are traveling alone on business, try this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Loud Bass Music from Hotel Bar"
I had really high hopes for Hotel Nelligan. It's in a great location, the hotel is beautiful, and we splurged on the room. The only problem was that they gave us a room directly over their hotel bar. I nervously laughed when told that it does get a little loud, but the hotel was completely booked and they couldn't move us. I was also told that if I […] called downstairs, they would lower the music. This was not the case. We ended up going downstairs to check out what all the fuss was about, but it was a Saturday, and the place was mobbed. When we got back to our room, it felt like the DJ followed us. Even with the TV on, I could still hear (and FEEL) the bass through the pillow and mattress. I called downstairs, and though a few other guests had complained about the noise, they could not lower the music. We couldn't fall asleep until after the bar closed -- at 2:00 a.m. I travel a lot, and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I booked this trip far in advance, and I was so disappointed in Hotel Nelligan. Do not stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Montreal likes to party!"
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Hotel Nelligan. Wonderful staff, great location, beautiful hotel. One note of caution, Montrealers like to party at night and it seems Rue St Paul (where the hotel is located) is a central hub for this! Make sure you request a room on the interior side of the hotel. We had a lovely suite facing the street and we […] had the (erm) treat of listening to people party until around 5am! A pair of earplugs remedied this for us and the staff was very gracious and apologetic about the whole thing. Claude at the front desk was enthusiastically helpful and always had a smile. We enjoyed the bar and the roof top restaurant. The room was clean and very, very quiet. The small gym was a nice plus. The location is great and the parking is very convenient. Everything in the area is very expensive. The crepe restaurant down the street was a great value. "Excellent hotel ... but worth the cost?"
My stay at the Hotel Nelligan was excellent. It is located in the heart of "old downtown" Montreal and close to many of the sights there. It is an old style hotel, with brick walls in the interior. Each room appears to be unique and was very comfortable. However, I just don't know if it was worth the price. My stay for three nights, with tax, was just […] over $1,000 USD. It was Labor Day weekend, and perhaps that fit into the price. But I doubt that I would stay there again for $300 a night. There are just too many other hotels in the region with same kind of style and design to justify the price. The hotel did offer free Wi-Fi which is nice, since many of the more modern hotels in the interior often do not have this included. But, like all hotels in the "old downtown" the cost of the food and drink in the hotel itself is nothing short of outrageous. Expect a standard drink to run between $10-$15 and a hamburger to cost about $35-$40. You are much better off leaving the hotel and searching throughout the area for more affordable options. Service and cleanliness at the hotel was excellent. Would stay here again if a more affordable rate were offered. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent in all respects"
Located in Old Montreal and thus easy to stroll among interesting shops, galleries, and restaurants. If driving, make sure your GPS allows you to enter W. St. Paul St. and not E. Arrived and was told they had a room ready, but it would be in a noisy location,as there was a wedding going on below the room in the hotel reception area. We opted to wait the hour for a less noisy room. Went for a drink on the terrace, which is nice for a quick lunch or drink. Arrived back at front desk 1 hr later, only to be told by the new desk […] person that the room they have is quite noisy! Once I explained that we opted to wait and could have taken a noisy room a hour before, she was very accomodating and gave us free breakfast and drink coupons and told us we could change the room the next day, if we like. Well, the room we were in (204) was huge and while it was a bit noisy from the street, my husband said he didn't mind, as it was "happy noise." We opted to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great stay here. Room was quiet and well equipped. Service from all staff was excellent. Food at restaurants was also of a very high standard. Simply a great stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel Nelligan met or exceeded all my expectations. The service was impeccable, the room was huge, and the neighborhood couldn't have been better. "Staff needs a lot of improvement"
The location was great and overall the accomodations were ok. The room is extremely cramped. The staff was a big disappointment in that they were semi-rude in the bar areas and the restaurant. The front desk help with the exception of the concierge were also rude. The concierege was the only employee who we found helpful. "awesome, but one major flaw"
Place is incredibly beautiful and rustic, and well situated in beautiful Old Montreal. Staff was awesome, rooms are awesome. HOWEVER, the function room on the first floor hosts private parties (wedding receptions, etc) whihc go until 2:30/3:00 AM and when those arent going on it is a noisy bar- very cool bar and setting by the way. But if you are on […] the second floor above this area (as we were) and you go to sleep earlier than, say 2:00 AM (as we do) be prepared to be woken up several times until about 3:00 AM. There were times when it sounded like there were 10 people in our room. The staff warned us about this at check-in, but at that point what are we going to do, drive back to Boston? I want to emphasize that this place is aweseom otherwise, but be sure to state you want floor 3 or higher Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Lovely facility, but noisy room"
Nice facility, but there is a rooftop bar and the patrons are noisy until the wee hours. We were told when we checked in that our room might be noisy, but the place was booked. They told us they would try to move us if we wanted for the second night. We opted not to try to move rooms as our day was very tightly scheduled. The service was generally OK, […] but we had no maid service our second day. The staff was friendly but seems a bit young and inexperienced relative to other boutique hotels.
