A great location a few streets over from the Nanjing shopping street and People's Park in a lovely Art Deco building. Room was large with nice bed and pillows; the bathroom was elegant and large with a great glassed-in deep tub and shower area -- so nice that we were worried that we had been put in the wrong room. Not all restaurants are open, likely […] because of the ownership change or reason for sale. The breakfast was a good continental breakfast though some food was not always refreshed each morning. The service was excellent with friendly, English-speaking staff. But . . . the hotel changed ownership (to Chinese company) at the beginning of March 2013. It did not affect our stay and the staff said few changes were expected but time will tell. Read more

I can not say enough about the staff at this hotel. I have been traveling on business to China for years now and have yet to receive the level of service I received at this hotel. "Luxurious" is the best word to describe the Langham. Upon check-in, I was presented with a lovely pink rose then personally escorted to me room. The rooms are done in a 1930's Shanghai style--which adds to the toal ambience. I also had a night to enjoy the spa, which is a "dont' miss" experience. I would never stay anywhere else in Shanghai!!!

The hotel is is in the middle of The Bund making it easy to get around, by both walking and metro. There are a couple of grocery stores nearby to stock up on things you may be missing from home. I am a seasoned traveler and I would recommend this hotel. Very good location, high quality decor and fairly spacious well appointed rooms. The staff are English friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is very good and the 5.00pm happy hour in a very nice bar setting is well worth a visit. Overall very good experience for a 2 night stay!

Langham has a great property here, and it will definitely be our #1 Choice in Shanghai. Great location, easy access to everything inside and out, just off Nanjing Road, half a block to the Metro. Fantastic rooms, standard room is more than adequate, but executive upgrade is spectacular. T'ang restaurant is top quality, but choose your dishes carefully […] and you can still eat well without breaking the bank. Service rushed the first four dishes a bit and then forgot the fifth, but the good food was worth it. Wines are too expensive, but choose a Chilean or Argentenian on the lower end of the price range and avoid heart failure when you get the bill. Still overall we had a memorable dinner for two with wine for about $100, which while not a bargain, is still excellent value compared to others. The lack of a view is one shortcoming, but the excellent interior design focuses you on the food as it should. Read more

This is not merely a hotel; it is an experience, enjoyable, fun, exciting and beautiful. It is run and tuned like a fine Swiss watch, but more importantly what sets this hotel above any other is the quality of the people you will work with, kind, smart, professional, thoughtful, caring and a joy to be around . Very well located, right next to the major metro station as well as very contemporary/new shopping mall, which gives you rescue services like Starbucks, cheap&safe foodcourt with really good varieties (you can order by pointing out pictures without speaking Chinese), and other "modern" price-tagged shopping experiences (though many of them are brands […] from Europe/US/other parts of Asia). Location was good. Reception staff gave me all of the lies possible for not refunding me for the 8th night, due to my mistake, although hotel was not fully booked. My first room had to be changed due to bad odor. Water pressure in the shower was totally weak in both rooms. Internet was a rip off! Staff at the entry door were super attentive.

Location is good, room size is OK. But temperature was a big problem! Upon arrival, around 6pm it was 25 Celsius. I set the thermostat to 21 and left. Came back about 2 hs later, nothing had changed. I open the windows (it was 15 C outside. It cooled down a bit, then I closed the - Shanghai can be quite noisy - and went to bed. Woke up around 3 am sweating! […] Temp 28!! I called the front desk and the maintenance man came, fiddled with the thermostat and....didn't fix anything! Only way to sleep was with open windows, noisy and too bright!
