This hotel was a big positive surprise! At first we though it was a little pricey $160 for a one queen bedroom in Peoria which is not really an upscale city. But we changed our mind after the stay. A VERY friendly receptionist (can remember her name, but she's middleaged and work only evenings and LOVES her job, which you could see) greeted us when we arrived around 5 pm and told us that there would be complimentary snack and wine for two hours from 6:30 (I think). It turned out to be so much better than we had thought, a very fresh salad bar with lots of food and delicious sliders. Wine and beer were also available and I think there were desserts also. So, as this was plenty, no need to go our for dinner! They serve this buffet Tuesday-Thursday so we were lucky being there a Tuesday! The room was actually a studio with fully equipped kitchen! It wasn't large, but VERY nicely decorated, good color choices! And spotless! For one night the queen bed was totally OK! Going to Peoria in a year and we will definitely stay here!

We love the Ashland House! The breakfast, business center and pub next door are great. Just wish the bed was more firm - it was difficult for us to sleep there.

Pleasantly surprised! Room was worn but clean. The check in was quick and easy and we were in our room in 5 minutes. The breakfast wasn't great, but for the price it was worth the money!

Very quality room-clean and spacious! We had a king room with a couch, coffee table, microwave, refrigerator, flat screen TV and two large desks. "Mixed bag."
Non-refundable reservation immediately tells you something . . . inexpensive hotels come at a price. Wife was a little uncomfortable to sleep well. Bath sink faucet missing nozzle. Could make do for one night. I'd stay again b/c of price. Wife might say differently.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Acceptable in a pinch."
This hotel is dated, our room had a smell (mold), and the overall hotel--while maintained--is in average condition. This hotel is close to family and is inexpensive. If you want some place to stay that's inexpensive and without any frills, this is the place for you. Our bed was clean and very comfy, but the carpet looked like it had spilled milk all over it, didn't want to walk around without shoes on. Chair in the room was so disgustingly filthy that we threw a towel over it so we wouldn't have to look at it. BUT […] the price was right and we slept good. "My stay was a positive experience!"
Here is what I experienced: Staff was helpful. Rooms were clean and quite. Location was not noisy yet near food and stores. Neighborhood was not a concern with my rare sports car in the lot overnight. They recently switched over to flat screen TV's and the channel lineup was decent. Keep in mind the breakfast is basic, but I enjoyed cereal, toast (bagels […] are available also), juice, milk, and donuts. In fact, the only thing I noted that was a minus was when I was in the shower I noticed that the paint was starting to crack some but not peeling, not a big concern for me, but I can see that a fresh coat of paint would be nice. You get what you pay for. Breakfast left something to be desired. Generic white bread, generic wheat bread, a couple of bagels, and mini-chocolate, powdered, and coconut donuts, along with fruit loops and raisin bran.
