Room was good - a great value for the price! Just a few minor complaints - TV remote didn't work; a little noisy late at night (Saturday night; we were next to the elevator). Beds: very comfortable. Pillows, not so much (overly firm). Bathroom small but clean, bath/shower good, water pressure and temperature fine. Nice pool, adequate gym. Convenient in/out parking, reduced price with hotel validation. Front desk staff: helpful and polite.

"Perfection in Old Montreal"
We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to […] be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service. Read more

"Good Hotel - Restaurant Needs Improvement"
We came up to Montreal for a weekend getaway. The only negative about this place is their restaurant The morning of our second day we went to the restaurant to have brunch. After being seated it took about 10 minutes for someone to come around and take our order as the staff was too busy cleaning up the continental breakfast station. I ordered the Raison […] French Toast. When it came out it was not Raison Bread. I pointed this out to the server and he took the plate back to have it corrected. My plate came out again this time with raison bread that was soggy and not cooked. At this point, I chose not to order anything as we had already been sitting for over 45 minutes. They did offer to bring a cheese plate which I did eat. Overall - The front desk was very accommodating to all our needs. The room was very cute. The location great. I would stay again, I would just not eat or get drinks in their restaurant. Read more

"Great Time"
We don't live far from Montreal so when we need a quick get away we head up there. This was by far our best experience. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The location was in the middle of everything and the hotel itself is beautiful. It's an updated older building, the walls are thick and we didn't hear anything from any of the surrounding rooms. […] We recommend this hotel very highly! Read more

Excellent services, polite, knowledgeable staff. Excellent location in Old Montreal. Will definately return. Just a great value boutique hotel.
"Loved it!"
Spent Christmas week-end here. Called a few days before arrival to ask the Concierge,Rene, to help find us good restaurants that would be opened during the holiday..he did a great job! All exceptional and within walking distance from the hotel. Location in Old Montreal was wonderful. Staff and service were friendly and efficient. Would definitely go […] back. Read more

"Not all that great"
well, this hotel has the best and perfect location. However, I did not get the room that was published on website. Web had a fantastic picture of this king bed room. Our room has a king bed but not like in the pictures. Internet was not great. We would not have access to wireless in our room. Also, light in our bathroom was flickering. Floors behind […] toilet seat was dusty and full of hair. Also there was dust in the sills. It was a good price but I don't believe I will be going back to this hotel. Read more
"Great location"
The location of the hotel is perfect for all that Montreal offers. Obviously in the old part of town but also within walking distance of Place des Arts where cultural events are taking place every weekend. Rooms were quaint and comfortable and the service was very good.
"Great stay in Quebec City"
We spent 4 nights here and it was PERFECT. Great location, comfortable (and beautiful) room, attentive staff. We LOVED this hotel. Too bad the mattress seemed a bit 'saggy'--not bad enough to spoil my sleep, but noticeable. Otherwise, we walked everywhere from here--could walk all over Old Town and the Metro station was close and convenient for going […] elsewhere. The three-day pass on the Metro meant we could see everything we wanted from this centrally-located hotel. Read more

"Family vacation with an toddler"
Ideal location close to tourist attractions which enabled us to return to the hotel for diaper changes when needed. My son loved the complimentary green apples at the lobby. It was food and toy for him. Every staff member we encountered were wonderful. Loved the complimentary two alcoholic beverages at Suite 701 (hotel's lounge). We ended up eating […] dinner there as well. The food was average, but cannot bet the convenience of dinning at the hotel when traveling with a toddler. My few reservations regarding the property are fixtures not in good condition and dirty refridgerator: sink with hairline crack, jetted bathtub with broken button, a spill in the fridge. Overall these were relatively minor things, but should be looked into by management. Read more

"Nice hotel but really small rooms"
The hotel’s exterior and interior was beautiful. The hotel is also in a great location. We had a basic room with a queen bed, the room was quite small like European hotels but it was comfortable and modern. The beds were super soft and the bathroom was stocked with spa products. My only complaint was our room didn’t come with a bathtub as the hotel’s […] pictures suggested. Read more

"Place d'Armes not what it used to be"
My husband & I stayed at this hotel a couple of years after it opened and went back again later because the service and accommodations were so wonderful. So for our 25th anniversary, we decided to go back there. When we arrived, there was no one in sight to park our car. Not even the front desk people could find the parking valets and that was the case […] whenever we needed to get the car. The restaurants were staffed by young men who knew very little about the menus and mostly stayed together talking at the service bar. The room was a nice corner one but some of the electric wall plugs were broken - you had to take one thing out to plug in another appliance. We were really disappointed. Hotel Place d'Armes really needs to train their staff better. I think they are catering to a much younger crowd of people who do not expect great service. The hotel was full of young, beautiful people who partied hard at night in the first floor lounge. For older. more cosmopolitan guests, I recommend you stay somewhere else. Read more
"Highlight of our Trip"
This was our first trip to Montreal, and we wanted a special hotel for the 3-day end of our 2 weeks on the road. The Place d'Armes was even better then we had hoped. We splurged on a junior suite, and our room was fabulous - two levels, with an entrance on both floors. The lower level had a king bed, closet with safe, honor bar, etc., and a great bathroom […] with a jetted tub. Amenities (shampoo, shower gel, etc.) were great. upstairs was a sitting area with a large desk, a love seat that could open to a bed, and a nice powder room. Just lovely. The hotel has a wonderful rooftop lounge and dining area that we really enjoyed, a ground floor casual restaurant and bar where a nice continental breakfast (not included) was served, or you could order from the menu, and a very nice upscale restaurant on the lower level. Staff was wonderful and we loved every minute of our stay. Recommend highly. Also, it's across the street form the Basilica de Notre Dame adn a few blocks from the Vieux Port! Read more

"Excellent hotel in wonderful Old Port location"
Le Place d'Armes is a great hotel directly across from Notre Dame Cathedral. Easy access to both Rue St. Paul and the Metro. Just finished our honeymoon in the Old Port and we were thrilled with Le Place d'Armes.
"Beautiful, modern hotel in Old Montreal"
Great location in Old Montreal, on a cobblestone street- we were able to walk all around the city - Latin Quarter, Downtown, the Parc, Plateau, even Mile End - although that was a bit aggressive. Very close to great restaurants at night and 2 Starbucks for day. Very well designed and clean. Great rooftop bar for sunset drinks. Extremely nice staff. […] Valet parking. Complementary welcome drink at the bar per person. Great and fast food for room service. Large tub for 2 (or bubble bath). Read more
"Wonderful stay!"
Great hotel, great location, great service. Had a problem with our telephone, they were on it right away until it was fixed. Everyone at front desk amazingly friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, well appointed, extremely comfortable. HUGE bathroom! Wonderful rooftop terrace, perfect for a late afternoon drink. Highly recommend this hotel!

"Great spot"
Located perfectly for Old Montreal and access to Metro. I wish they had coffee in rooms was our only comment. Bar downstairs and terrace spot on top of building were very nice!
"Wonderful hotel for a perfect honeymoon!"
The hotel had everything you would want on your honeymoon. Close to everything, helpful staff, wonderful room, amazing bathroom.
"Place d'Armes in Montreal- Perfect Old Montreal !"
Roof top Terrace was Amazing-Hip and young tho my husband and I are not-we still fit in! Rooms were wonderful-exposed brick and hard wood floors with Terrific Beds and Bathrooms..... will never look anywhere else to stay or recommend--Hotel Place d'Armes is it for us in Montreal.
"Le Place d'Armes Hotel & Suites - great location"
We chose Le Place d'Armes for its location in the old city and as a one-night splurge. Easy walking distance to the sights, fantastic service and excellent restaurant. At the time of our visit (July 2011), the square and adjoining streets had been torn up for renovation, and the cab had to drop us off a block from the hotel entrance - with the Saturday […] night crowds and traffic, it would have taken at least 15 minutes to come around the block. Leaving was no problem; the cab stand across the street had plenty of cabs all morning. Be sure to get a high floor! The noise in the bar and salon (wedding party going on) was deafening. Music in the restaurant was loud, but they turned it down at our request. The air conditioning in our original room was not working, nor was it working in the next king room they tried. The night receptionist was fantastic! The hotel was *full*, but she finally found us a smaller room with working air conditioning; because she couldn't discount the room (prepaid thru this site), she gave us complimentary breakfast and use of the Turkish bath. (We didn't use the bath, so can't comment on it). Do be careful at the bar. The glass of wine was a generous pour, but my mixed drink - described as using Ketel One - had no alcohol in it at all. I was so tired, I didn't care. The drinks were also complimentary; had I been paying for the drink, I would have sent it back. Read more
"A very special hotel"
I'm not often inclined to write a review of a hotel we've stayed at but in this case I feel compelled to do so. I would give the Le Place de' Armes even a higher rating than a five if possible. The staff could not have been more polite or acommendating and very helpful. Location is everything when staying at a hotel and the Le Place is perfectly located […] for resturants and shopping. We took the bus tour of Montreal and the hotel made all the arrangements for us including free shuttle service to the tour bus. The room we stayed in a Junior Suite was spacious and very clean and well decorated. Huge bathroom that was well stocked and very clean. We requested an upper room and were given one with a great view. The area around our room was so quite that my wife and I thought we were the only ones staying at the hotel. I would suggest two resturants to try both on West rue St. Paul. The Modavie great food and smooth jazz every night. The Barroco an elegant and cozy French resturant with the greatest French beef short ribs I've ever eaten, just outstanding. Both resturants are reasonably priced. I would most definitely stay at the Place of de' Armes when I return to Montreal again. Read more
Place D'Armes was an excellent choice if you want stay in Old Montreal. Only issue was extensive street construction adjacent to hotel that made getting there slow and tricky. don't know how long that will last.

"Le Place d'Armes Hotel in Montreal - close to all"
The hotel has historical feature and modern charm. Close to must-see spots, (across from Notre Dame church), close to the metro station, sea port, restaurants and stores. Hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful, and guests get complimentary welcome cocktails, however bar staffs are a little stuffy. We stayed in superior king room. The room was very […] specious and gorgeous, there was nothing to complain. Overall, this hotel is A+, and we definitely recommend to our friends and would like to stay again for our next visit. "nice enough hotel"
Hotel is in a lovely area, despite the construction currently underway across the street in the square. Was hard to find walking from the Place D'armes station with luggage as there are not street signs on all corners in Montreal. Upon calling the hotel, I at least got someone who spoke English very well and we were able to find our way. Took awhile […] to check in as they seemed short staffed at the desk at the time, not sure...no one greeted us while we stood there and waited either. The room was small for what I expected (Deluxe King), and being right off the elevator for what we paid was rather dissappointing, it was very noisy at night people coming and going, and standing around in the hall talking loudly. The bar/restaurant/lounge on the first floor, Aix, is VERY noisy at night, VERY loud music, and obnoxious because you have to pass the crowds and noise to get to the elevators. Our "view" in the room was the office building next door, not of the Notre Dame Basilica, check that if you reserve a room. Service was good for the room and in the hotel, although they seemed a bit snobbish, the French I guess, as compared to other places we went, not sure. Room lacked space to set and open two large size suitcases, except for one on the bed or floor. The room was comfortable never the less. It is well situated near many touristy areas, close to the waterfront and the Jacques Cartier Square, and was walking distance for us to get to the cruiseship without a taxi, car or other transportation. Montreal makes getting around the city very easy via subway or bus, with daily passes that include both for a very reasonable fare. The concierge was very helpful to us in English with getting around town and finding a bank. If you like a lively night life and very classy decor, then you will like this place. I paid the same per night as our hotel in Boston, and got much bigger bank for my buck in Boston, AND much better service. Read more
"Le Place d'Armes"
We were inpressed with the hotel. Nice use of a old downtown building. Nice room, very spacious and modern. Large flat screen tv, surround sound. This hotel is right in the middle of the best part of old town. Walking distance from the cruise port. Would highly recommend.
"Old Montreal Hotel with Class and Character"
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in May 2011. I picked it because it was a older building, which usually means they have more character than the newer places. It has excellent in hotel dining (AIX being the premier dining area), and is within walking distance of 30 resturants in Old Town. It was a short 2 block walk to the convention center, which […] made it convenient. The room was a suite, with ample room and included a work area, complete with free WiFi. The first night I arrived at 10:00 pm and was hungary. Ate in the bar, and found the food very good. This is also where breakfast is served, a cointinental is included with the room, but I found their ham and cheese omlets to be to my liking. They have on site parking (at $25/day), courteous and helpful staff, the building is over 100 years old and has a few minor glitches, but the rooms are huge, and well appointed. So, for me, and I have been to 5 of the 7 continents, it is a very good place to stay, I will stay there again and would recommend it to anyone. Read more
"Place d'Armes"
Great location, distinctive loft style rooms, nice turn down service with free bottle of water, hospitable staff. I would return!
"Le Place d'Armes Hotel & Suites"
Nice hotel, but certainly don't pay full price. The room was "fancy", but on closer inspection filled with frills that didn't work: several lights didn't function, the external TV speakers were falling apart as well as some of the the light fixtures. The wi-fi was terrible, but the wired internet connection just fine. Great service though. I'd recommend […] it unless you have more than one person that needs internet access. Read more

Nothing bad to say. Wonderful hotel, great service and the location can't be beat.
"The Bells of Notre Dame are beautiful!"
I loved this hotel. We were able to walk to some very nice restaurants and bars. There was plenty of shopping, too. We didn't have to catch a cab until we decided to eat at restaurant referred by a friend. In the morning we were not pushed out of bed by our alarm clock, but lightly tapped by the bells of the Notre Dame cathedral. It's a great way to […] start your morning. Read more

"Le Place d'Armes Hotels & Suite Montreal, Canada"
Location, location, location. This hotel is located at the center of Vieux Montreal (Old Montreal-historical district) right across from the Notre Dame Cathedral. Google map's location seems to be completely off by a block, but that's besides a point. Hotel d'Armes, when looking from outside, looks like an old historical building that might have you […] think of old rustic interior. Once you step in, however, you'll be greeted into a very chic modern looking lobby. Staffs at check in were very courteous and attentive. The room I stayed in was a junior suite which I was able to book at a discounted rate thanks to hotels.com. It was very spacious with the high ceiling which made it look even more spacious. I guess some people didn't like how the wall inside the room was left to bare bricks, but I think it goes very well with the surrounding neighbor of Montreal. It had a huge california king size bed with a romantic dining table and an office desk. There were also two reading lamps in addition to bedpost lamps which I thought was a nice touch. The bathroom had a showerroom equipped with a rain shower head and a huge tub with the water jet massage system. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay at a romantic hotel for a very reasonable rate. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal. It's a walking distance away from all the old historical sites of the city and museums. The hotel is also a short stroll away from the Chianatown, if you decide to get a taste of some Asian cuisine. If there are not enough things near the hotel for you, then the metro station is also 3 min walk away from the hotel. Read more
